I agree. Here's a story that may not have anything to do with this quote, but somehow reminds me of it. As is known, I have recently been promoted at work to an assistant manager position in my department. Last week I started training the person who is taking over my former position on the receiving dock. Well, I am taking this very seriously, and trying hard to teach him as well as I possibly can. Not only do I want him to know what it is that he needs to do, but also the reason why we do it that way, so that he can get the best possible education from my training. Well, a few people have suggested that it is not wise to teach so much, because the person just might overtake me in regards to position someday. Now, my answer to that is that I base my success on his success. I will succeed on my own merit, and really have nobody or anything to worry about as far as being overtaken for position. More important to me is that I am building in others a trust that will enable a person to turn to me if a need should arise. When the time comes, those who make the decisions will know who is best for the job. All I can do is my best with what I am given. There is an old song by Keith Green called, "He'll Take Care Of The Rest" which says....."just keep doing your best, pray that it's blessed, and He'll take care of the rest." If we keep that before us always, we can walk in confidence that we are truly right where we are supposed to be!
