These are great days for Lara and her fans, as she is all over the airwaves with her new album.
As expected, Lara had many appearances on radio this week. In the last 8 days she has been on some 9 different radio shows. As expected the conversations were centered on Un Regard Neuf. She always made sure they mentioned both the CD and DVD, indicating her feeling about how they really go together. Also covered were other current topics, including the Italian album, the "Sing with Lara Fabian" DVD, possible future projects, cooking (inspired by the Bonus section of the DVD) and her moving back to Quebec. Among the many interesting comments were: the Italian album, which will be released in April 2007, will include original material - for example, the Italian version of "Aime" will be on it; it will NOT be released in France. While she is moving back to Quebec, she will not resume her collaboration with Rick Allison. She is open to theatrical parts (including TV) and would like to be a comedian; and touring with a Symphony orchestra is a possibility. [There really is not much point in mentioning her speculative projects because we know that they are but ideas of the moment.] For her show on Europe 1 on the 26th Lara had a bad cold and was somewhat hoarse, but seemed o.k. for the others.
One show in particular that should be emphasized was her appearance with (the host) Cauet on the 27th on Fun Radio. The show has a video feed as well, and videos of Lara's appearance are available on Youtube (for example, accessible through lara282.skyblog.com/ - the second installment is the important one). As you can see, Lara is very much at ease, she told several jokes, did a lip-synch version of Aime, and towards the end lets loose with an exuberant dance. If nothing else this show proves three things (which weren't really in doubt): Lara's a class act; she can fit in very comfortably with a raucous crowd; and French language morning shows can be every bit as boorish as English language ones.
In a radio broadcast Friday morning on Europe 1, Cauet was asked if he was 'taken with Lara' during her appearance on his show. (They kissed several times, and one time looked like it was on the lips.) He said "Yes", that Lara was adorable (and other compliments) and that she would be present in his new program "Muppet TV" to be broadcast in prime time on Friday evening in 4 weeks. He said that people would discover her truly like she had never been seen!
A telling occurrence that arose concerned the announcement on October 15 that Lara would be the "Grand-hostess' of the 20th edition of the Telethon, December 8-9 in Paris (it raises money for battling some diseases). The statement was made by Vincent Perrot, a well-respected personality on RTL. At the same time, Patrick Bruel was announced as the male host. However, it was subsequently pointed out on websites that Bruel had concerts listed for those dates in Angers and Nantes, so it would be impossible for him to be in Paris. All week people pondered that contradiction and wondered what it meant for Lara. On Cheri FM Lara was asked about it, and was astonished to learn that she was supposed to do this (though she said she was super happy to hear it!). Apparently she had never been contacted about it. On the 29th an official statement was released now listing two other hosts (perhaps in response to her actions). When Lara is criticized for not appearing someplace, this is a case to remember - not only wasn't she asked, she had not even heard about it, so could not make an official denial. [This is not meant to be a blanket excuse that is always relevant.]
Concerning the Live album itself, the subsequent reviews from fans have been pretty much like those reported last week - a 'thumbs up' for the DVD, a mixed reception for the CD. I'll provide my own review in a separate thread subsequently, but with respect to the radio shows, when they have played cuts from the CD on the programs this week, the songs sound great. One estimate was that the Capbox (joint CD/DVD) had sold some 10,000 copies the first week. There were no obvious press reviews that I've seen (French publications seem surprisingly deficient in that respect) but Lara in a general interview is on the cover this week of Cinetele Review, a Belgian magazine; link for the photo is here (from Domi on Hezia's site):

Similarly, a general news item concerning the new live album is available at www.esctoday.com/news/read/6629
a site which is related to the Eurovision contest (thanks, John). One interesting thing is that it notes that Lara has sold about 13 million records worldwide (an update, if correct, from previous estimates). It also notes the rumor that she is currently working on a Hollywood film project (again, if true, related to the "Profiler" movie she mentioned in the recent interview). [With respect to the sales, apparently the Italian press (in referring to her duet with Gigi D'Alessio) lists her as a French Canadian singer who has sold 18 million records - so much for numbers.]
Lara's appearance on "L'ecole des fans", recorded in June, was broadcast in Canada last weekend. It featured little children singing Lara's songs: "Je t'aime"; "Je n'arreterai pas t'aimer"; "Le tour du monde"; Lara helped out when necessary. As in past such shows which Lara has been on, the other kids and Lara gave them (very generous!) numerical scores. Actually, they sounded a lot like Lara when she is performing her 'little girl' act. Lara then (really) sang a truly lovely version of "Il ne manquait que toi". It's also nice that kids that age (or their parents) in Quebec are still familiar with Lara's songs, and not just the old ones.
With respect to interacting with slightly older singers, additional comments have come in from the participants who sang duos with Lara at the last Star Academy. They were effusive in their praise of both her voice and her heart (thanks to elisa2 and Stephane25 on Laradom). Videos of this 'debriefing' are available on Youtube.
Lara's duet with Gigi D'Alessio "Un Cuore Malato" appeared on his new album entitled "Made in Italy". [This is in addition to the duet "La donna che vorrei" with him that is a bonus on the Live DVD. ] For those who don't know what it sounds like, see the thread in Laradom; it really is exceptional. As also reported on that thread, the responses from his Italian fans were very positive, commenting on her wonderful voice. Mark this as the opening foree of Lara into the Italian market - an auspicious beginning.
Farfallina 4 was mailed last Friday, and will be available in Brussels on Monday, France a week later, and later still elsewhere, as usual.
When Lara was asked about the "Sing with Lara Fabian" DVD on one of the radio shows, she made light of the whole project, saying she had forgotten about it, and that it was just for kids. I wonder if she's received criticism for doing it, and is embarrassed. It is still not available from music websites like Alapege but apparently it can be bought in stores in France without much problem! And those who have it have praised it; even though it's for children, there are said to be a number of enticing features. One response (laetitia9 on the Official Site) said: "She gives us the taste of her passion, and tries to make us see music in a different way. Even for fans who don't really want to learn to sing, it is a very enriching DVD and permits us to hear three of Lara's songs differently. In addition, she acts like a clown, and does some Rap."
This coming week is a very light one for Lara, after the recent hectic times. On November 4, she will be on 'Le plus grand cabaret du monde' on France 2 in prime time. [The light schedule will give everyone a chance to recover!]
