Lara was largely absent from public media this past week, most likely involved in rehearsals and general preparations for her eastern European tour starting this week. She did post some promos, e.g. (thanks to the Lara Fabian America Fb site):
www.facebook.com/reel/1494007091149507
where she reminds the Romanian public that she’s had ‘so many beautiful audiences’ with them already, but she can’t wait for this coming appearance [and of course, ‘the best is yet to come’].
Actually, Lara’s concert in Bucharest on April 21 is already sold out, so even though both city names are shown in the promo, it is aimed at the audience for the Cluj concert on April 23. Her April 27th concert in Plovdid, Bulgaria is also sold out. There are only about 10 tickets left for the concert in Chisinau, Moldavia on April 19. In searching the other venues, (e.g., Budapest, Zagreb, etc.) one finds that most of these also have relatively few tickets available. So it looks like this will be a very well attended tour; Lara’s ‘star’ in Eastern Europe appears, from this perspective at least, undimmed.
In other, what is now practically off-topic, news, the Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site posted a new link for Rick Allison’s official site, at
www.rickallisonmusic.com/?fbclid=IwAR2PD4cipWUdJsNDPf_pq_WvbQXgnjDCvDIYiFGwGGPNBU1A4M86XLfeSXk
They also note that on the radio show at (https://www.mixcloud.com/CKVL/le-lunch-du-midi-9-avril-2024/?fbclid=IwAR22Q3clAxFa0A_xlRHE_soGb-ZjW0QxGYGfyoeWtRA_Y6wbCDv2A-KRE4g). at the 57 minute mark, Rick sings “Je t’aime”.
It’s not bad – it has depth, with his ‘Rod Stewart’ coarse voice .
Given that Rick helped write most of Lara’s most popular songs, one may argue with some justice that Rick has been largely ‘written out’ of Lara’s history, as he’s never given public credit when ‘her great songs’ are discussed. He wouldn’t be the first song writer to suffer that fate, but given that he was involved with so many of them, one would think it would attract more continual attention, however inconvenient that may be when Lara is the focal point.
A number of fan sites are explicitly noting that they are not Lara’s official site, and so it behooves us to do that as well. It shows up here in comments addressed to Lara; again, Lara official FB page is of course www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/ .
Lara’s did have a nod to her public, more appropriate for the ‘interesting photo(s) section, with a post on social media of her picture,
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=1002608421223451&set=a.259330798884554
and the caption, “Friday red mood” (referring to her lipstick).
And since we’re on the topic of “interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week”, staying consistent with Lara’s mood, the Lara Fabian America FB site had this picture for their “throwback Thursday”,
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=857078293098564&set=a.427157892757275
But their picture from last November clearly tops that

And to complete the outfit, from lipstick to clothing, there are Lara’s “red shoes” from the Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site of a few weeks ago,
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=944347044365353&set=pcb.944347207698670
There is no shortage of photos of Lara dressed in red, as, along with black, it’s one of her favorite colors to wear.
The Lara Fabian Mexico site posted Lara’s official video of ‘Ta peine’ with Spanish subtitles, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs663Yf07ts
Equally interesting is who posted it, as the Facebook group by the same name is for all intents and purposes no longer active.
In the next week (April 16-22) she will have three concerts. In the following week (April 23-29) she will have five more, and the last concert will take place on April 30th. So basically she has two weeks of concerts coming up, and the set-list will be interesting to observe. As a game, one can try to predict what it will include. Here’s a guess: Je t’aime, La difference, J’y crois encore, Je suis malade, Tu es mon autre, Humana, Caruso, Pas sans toi, I Will love Again, Immortelle, Broken Vow (or Adagio), Par amour, Saisir le jour, Je me souviens, L’ homme qui n’avait pas de maison, Ta peine.
Even though Lara has indicated at times that she wants this tour to be associated with “Love”, or “relieving pain”, one may notice a certain skepticism implicit in this choice of songs, as it is basically what one would find on any of her ‘best of’ tours, with just a few exceptions. The guess is that she will include ‘Ta peine’, for the purpose of advertising it and any coming album to this new audience ((also her promos have had it playing in the background). And “L’homme…” was included because she listed it as one of her top ten songs that she hasn’t sung often enough (see the News Update of 2/27).
If this were really a set list about love and pain, it would be very different, including such songs as Aimer deja, Parce que tu pars, If I Let You Love Me, Je m'arrêterai pas de t'aimer, Si tu m’aimes, Le desamour, Le Coeur qui tremble, even L’oubli, among others. The odds of that happening are not great.
After these two weeks, the next set does not take place until June in Canada; if she factors them into her calculation, she might include more songs with a Quebec origin, such as Tu t’en vas, J’ai zappe, etc. And if, further, she gave a thought to the audience in Ottawa, we might even see more songs in English (probably unlikely). Hopefully there will be videos of her performances, not that it will be all that different from her past shows, but because, if that’s true, it will be of high quality!
