Lara had more media appearances in support of her new single, plus her appearances on the Star Academy, the Dream Team and Les Enfoires. She is certainly the woman of the moment for media in France.
For her fans, Lara put a reel on her social media sites of her singing a small part of ‘Ta peine’ a capella, at
www.facebook.com/reel/870539638152518
and
accompanied by a small variant of her standard mantra, “Just for you…the best is yet to come".
She also put on a reel, showing her talking from her car, at
www.facebook.com/reel/402010442296974
and
In it, she says, "I'm on the road today, I really wanted to stop and say thank you for this incredible song. It's incredible, one would still have heard of this new song written with my friend Slimane. In particular, it touches us a lot from this welcome but especially what you tell us about the song how it connects to you, how does it touch you, the words of some of you have hypnotized me, it's crazy, I thank you."
For more general media, Lara was on the program “Laissez-vous Tenter, a small portion of which she showed on her Instagram site, at
In this portion, the host asks, “It doesn't frighten you to grow older?”
And Lara’s response is:
“No, not at all, not at all, necessarily. When you're 54, you may not have the energy you had when you were 30, but isn’t it sometimes a self-limiting belief to think that at 54 you don’t have more awareness and can take more time for yourself? I have the feeling that there were mornings in my thirties when my heart and body were heavier than they are today. I don't have that heaviness anymore because I've made space because I've washed away a lot of things because I've sometimes accepted time with my hand and I've had the means to accept listening. I'm very grateful for time because time has helped me to repair myself, so time has been my friend and not my enemy.”
The full interview, in which Lara discusses the new song and the reaction others can provide to someone’s pain, can be seen at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4s4NOLSWAU
In it, Lara is certainly getting a chance to discuss her philosophy on conjunction with this song, in an agreeable setting, and she does so with empathy and modesty that’s very appealing.
The interviewer also touched upon Lara’s return to Les Enfoires. When asked why she had been away from it so long, she was circumspect; she said, well, there were a number of years when she was away in Canada, but then there were things that didn’t happen, but it was perfect to come back now, she found it particularly joyful, particularly serene, the team that helped them was great, and she loved the mix with Slimane, with Vitaa, Mentissa, Sophia, Claire, in all honesty it was really a very beautiful moment. She also noted that this is the only country in the world in which these ‘bastards’ get together for so many years, mobilizing the sense of fraternity, or sorority, where backstage people have fun but recognize that it is for charity – that it’s very rare to feel that.
The interviewer brought up that Lara had been on the Dream Team and will also be on The Voice Kids. Lara repeated that she found it important to transmit to the younger generations the tools she had learned along the way, that it was important to humanize the profession. Her need to transmit was one of the great discoveries of her life in the last few years.
When asked whether after her experiences as director of the Star Academy in Quebec, she would get involved with the show in France, she was perhaps the most positive about it she’s been. She said “Why not”, but because the context in France is different from that in Quebec she sees herself as someone who helps out more musically, in the interpretation of songs, what we can put of ourselves in a song – she wouldn’t be comfortable with something much bigger beyond that.
Finally, she was asked about a tour in 2025 or 2026 – Lara said she’d first like to have enough musical material to mix with what she’s always had, so as to be able to offer a palette that’s a little more fleshed out, so it’s not just another best of version. She’d like something a little more new.
One wonders what that means for the ‘Je t’aime’ tour, and its rumored return to France and Belgium in 2025…
Lara was in Paris Match, who advertised her appearance with the following blurb, at

The program was called "Lara Fabian in 5 Songs"; here is Lara in 'stream of consciousness' mode:
----------------------------------------------
“On the occasion of the release of her new single, "Ta Peine", the great @larafabianofficial tells us the story behind her greatest hits! #interview #music #belgium”.
Tout: It’s the end of a love story for good that turns into music for the first time. This is the first time in my life that I've written a story about my own story and translated it in the form of a song with as much precision with as much transparency and it's the song that will open the doors of this passage that I will make from Quebec to the international Francophonie and which will really be the first great success of the Pure album.
Je t’aime: so Je t’aime, that's that it's a storm for me, I didn't understand anything it was a sort of response to everything that told or explained how sometimes we can love badly and how this way we have of loving badly, loving in an awkward way when we are inexperienced when we are too young can lead us at the end of something it was contiguous it was related in fact to the song Tout. Je t’aime still today it's the song that precedes me that I sing all over the world even internationally and the people sing in French whether in America in Bulgaria in Germany in England finally it’s a crazy thing.
Requiem pour un fou: It is the historic duo of my career which brings me in front of a front lawn, a monument an icon like the one represented by Johnny and who tells me take the place you’re here for me that's why I'm giving it to you but you have to take it so he was very very very generous with me that day and I will never forget this living thing that you feel when you walk on stages of this scale with 350 musicians and singers in front of 80,000 people it’s unprecedented and difficult to reproduce.
Tu es mon autre: That it’s my preferred duo, obviously, the historic duo it's Johnny, but the duo of my heart is the one with Maurane Tu es mon autre. It's a song with which I courted Maurane because in fact at the start it wasn't a given, she didn't necessarily want to sing with me or not because she didn't want to sing with me but at that moment in her life it wasn't something she wanted to do and even though we were very close since we had known each other long before any form of success for either of us, she was very secretive, here I am, I don't feel it. I don't want to then one day she listens to the song and says to me ah yes no that's not the same there you say something that really speaks to me. We entered into this incredible cylinder of two where her voice and mine are superimposed throughout the song. It’s a rare duet because in general duets we respond to each other; there we don't respond to each other, we are both one thing and it's probably one of the songs in any case in my career which created the greatest emotion with La difference these are the two songs I think they have upset and crystallized something which also means that as a songwriter I have been extremely recognized.
Ta peine: it is the story of a person who experiences great pain in his first circle a great pain and who needs to be helped, a person to whom we say I am here if you want, I am here to hear you I am here to listen to you give me this pain I will buy it overboard I will make crumbs of it but you have to agree do you agree we'll go and dance your pain if you want we'll go and scream your pain, we'll go and measure it for as long as you want but give it to me because I feel that I could thanks to this listening and this empathy dissolve it and perhaps even heal you of it. I could sing it to myself alone as I could offer it to anyone. I believe that everyone has someone not too far away who is in enough pain to need to be listened to.
--------------------
In reading the responses, in effect some fans felt there should have been six songs – with Je suis malade taking its place among the others, perhaps as the epitome of Lara as an emotional singer.
Lara gave an interview about her work with Slimane on Nostalgie Belgique, (thanks to the Lara Fabian Family FB site for the link) at
www.facebook.com/reel/1675889029607529
In it Lara mentioned that they have three songs completed, all ballads, but there will be more upbeat/festive songs, as well as duets. It will all be in French. Again, no pressure, so no completion date in mind.
Now that Lara has been shown to interact well with other French popular stars, the press (and apparently Lara herself) has other opportunities in mind, as shown by the following article on Charts in France - thanks to the Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site for the link (https://www.chartsinfrance.net/Lara-Fabian/news-127622.html?fbclid=IwAR3deayPfalxtjaxsuQvDs1-kTGxV-xwfP86q2COmXPaoaN_YPhv0dhZ7_w):

Lara Fabian: a duet with Vitaa on her new album? “She has an extraordinary heart”
Lara Fabian is back with the single “Ta Pain”, which she co-wrote with Slimane. For her next album, the star and future coach of “The Voice Kids” plans to collaborate with another popular artist: Vitaa! Her confidences exclusively on Purecharts.
It's already five years since Lara Fabian published the album "Papillon", her 10th album performed in French. Since then, the Belgian-Canadian artist has not remained inactive! She launched the "50 World Tour", published an autobiographical cookbook and participated in the filming of season 10 of "The Voice Kids", of which she will be one of the new coaches alongside Patrick Fiori, Claudio Capéo and Slimane. By the time the reality-TV broadcast next summer on TF1, the singer will have made her big musical comeback: she has just published her new song "Ta peine", co-written and co-composed with Slimane. "I called him! I had looked at him for a long time with great love and admiration. I knew that we had something in common, common passages in our lives and that we would have a lot to say if we mixed. I felt it well before speaking to him, and it was right” explains Lara Fabian in an interview with Purecharts, happy that this altruistic text found its place in her repertoire: “I felt that it resonated in the heart of many people. I hope it will touch the public, that’s the whole purpose of this song and the reason for its existence.”
“She offered it to me.”
It won't be a surprise for the public but the star officially confirms it to our microphone: "Ta peine" is the first extract from her next album - the 15th of her career - which will be released in 2024. “We're on it, it's in progress. I already have other songs of course, we have written other things, but if we want to say things that make sense, it takes time”, testifies the interpreter of “Tout”, who is reaching a phase of her life where it is the desire to share that guides her choices. “I still have quite a few things to say about transmission, about what we can become, about this light that we can choose to contact rather than the shadow. Humans, we are all hypersensitive, we all have somewhat bumpy paths. All! Sometimes we can open the door to something very dark. What else is possible? That’s what I always tell myself”, says the singer, whom the public dreams of seeing become director of the “Star Academy”. She also plans to found her own music school, "in the form of a masterclass and on an ad hoc basis”.
If Slimane accompanies her for this sweet return, Lara Fabian keeps deep inside her the conviction that music is made to unite people. Also, her new opus could mark her very first collaboration with... Vitaa! Recently, the musician surprised the godmother of the “Star Academy” in the show “La Boîte à secrets”, where they sang “Tu es mon autre” during a magnificent duet. “I hear a lot about this duo! I think people really liked it”, says Lara Fabian, who could see herself “working together with Vitaa”: “Who knows? She suggested it to me to tell you everything! That would be wonderful. I love this woman.” “I love her heart. She has an extraordinary heart and depth. She is very talented. It’s amazing how good kindness is!” she adds, thus paving the way for a rapprochement of their artistic worlds. Fingers crossed that the project materializes!
---------------------------
Lara was on M Radio talking about this possible interaction with Vitaa; an article about it can be found at (https://mradio.fr/news/musique/51562/lara-fabian-et-vitaa-bientot-en-duo?fbclid=IwAR16O7gFboo5fvq6-BtkYujd9Yx_Os_3YTL5MLFctL8Ea9V7HIzef3d6_0k). The Lara Fabian America FB site has an English translation of it that can be found on their website (https://www.facebook.com/larafabianamerica/), repeating these sentiments about working with Vitaa.
Lara has always liked to work with others on her songs, and now she’s discovered that working with other artists, as opposed to just songwriters, might be even more rewarding – especially since she’s no longer as concerned about establishing her reputation, and more concerned with transmitting what she’s learned.
In addition, Lara has used her Star Academie appearance to help provide impetus for the ‘school of singing’ she’s been considering for several years. As indicated above it’s now being conceptualized as a “form of a masterclass and on an ad hoc basis”. This would imply not a literal, rigorous school, but, as in the case of the Star Academy, more of a free-floating, target of opportunity, that can show up anywhere, although perhaps with a bit more structure. However, that impression was provided with greater nuance when she was a guest on Les Intournables on Europe 1 over the weekend, a program that is available at
www.europe1.fr/emissions/linterview-de-julia-vignali/les-incontournables-de-julia-lara-fabian-4228671
In addition to her discussion of ‘Le peine’ and her collaboration with Slimane, as well as her ‘transmission experiences’ on the TV Reality shows, Lara again raised the idea of opening a school of singing available to all. The school will be accessible to those from Quebec, Belgium and France, because it could be done at a distance and she would also travel. When the host Julia Vignali said she herself could not string three notes together, Lara replied, “But we don't care. You don't have to be a singer to take singing courses. You just have to want to connect to something that lights up all the signals in our brains. The two activities that bring us into total harmony with all the neural highway signals are singing and intimacy. It is through sexuality and music that we reconnect with everything that excites us. So you imagine the power of singing and music.” When her host indicated that she would feel ‘nude’ doing that, Lara replied, “It's true that it undresses you. There is a place where you are a little more vulnerable. But isn’t it through vulnerability that we discover our true strength?”
Also on Charts in France, Lara discussed the results of the Dream Team show (https://www.chartsinfrance.net/Lara-Fabian/news-127573.html):
------------------------
“C’est la vie”: Lara Fabian beaten in Dream Team, her opinion on the disappointing audiences
“Dream Team”, the new TF1 musical competition, ended Friday evening with the victory of Mr. Pokora against Lara Fabian. Faced with the program's disappointing audiences, the singer delivers her analysis: "No one is to point the finger."
Budding singers and exceptional mentors. Friday evening, TF1 offered the second and final number of “Dream Team, the next generation of stars”, its new musical show hosted by Hélène Mannarino and carried by Jenifer, M. Pokora, Lara Fabian, Black M, Claudio Capéo and Camille Lellouche. After the playoffs, only four teams could still compete for the trophy. Faced with a jury made up of Lorie, Chris Marques, Anggun and Michael Jones, Claudio Capéo opposed the Lara Fabian team by singing "Un homme debout", but the public preferred the powerful interpretation of "Je suis malade". In a ballot last week, Mr. Pokora found himself in a duel against the new candidate for “Dancing with the Stars” and his foes, and won by singing his hit “The Planets”. Black M, however, managed to get his ticket to the final phase after the duets event against Claudio Capéo.
“No one is to point the finger”
For the final confrontation, the three artists, faced with a difficult choice, had to bet on a single member of their team. And it was Loan, Mr. Pokora 's young protégé, who won at the end of the suspense thanks to his poignant performance on the hit "Et bam" by Mentissa, with 234 points in his pocket! “ Well done my champions, it was pure joy to share these moments with you! You have a lot of talent but above all you are good little guys. THANKS! And a big congratulations to the other teams who shared this adventure with us. The future is in good hands ,” says the former winner of “Popstars” on Instagram. With this victory, the five children on his team each won a trip worth 4,000 euros.
Unfortunately, the coronation of Mr. Pokora and his team hardly created any sparks in terms of audiences. While the first episode of “Dream Team” came only third on the evening of January 19 with 2.24 million curious people in attendance (11.9% of the public), the finale of the tele-hook-up excited 2, 37 million viewers, the second score of the evening (12.8%). Mixed results for TF1, which had nevertheless deployed colossal resources to create the event with its musical show, between its solid cast of children, its impressive set and the participation of 10 celebrities.
Questioned by Télé-Loisirs on the occasion of her return with the single “Ta Pain”, Lara Fabian gave her analysis on the lukewarm reception reserved for entertainment. “There are shows which sometimes do not meet their audience. No one is to point fingers. Some programs are received with great enthusiasm while others resonate less” gauges the one who will perhaps be director of the “Star Academy” next year, observing this semi-failure with philosophy: “That’s life”. We will soon find her as a coach in “The Voice Kids” season 10!

And over the weekend, Lara was on RFM, with a promo available at
www.facebook.com/reel/1088429525809374
The program itself is now available on youtube, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KI3SU8yytg
The host Bernard Montiel started by telling Lara how much they had missed her, that she had been away for a few years; and then went on to say how much they loved the new title, and to compliment her sincerity, her honesty, how much of herself she gives to others. In fact, these were all sentiments he repeated numerous times throughout the interview. Lara went on to discuss the sentiment behind the song, to help the loved ones in our lives who are in pain, to have them give us their pain, to do everything in our power to transform it, to ‘crumble it up”. She then repeated the story of calling Slimane, going to dinner, deciding to try by going to the studio, etc. Later they discussed the question of an album, and Lara repeated she had a date in mind to finish it (which we saw is probably by the end of this year) but that she was not putting any pressure on Slimane.
They then went on to discuss Les Enfoirees and Lara’s return to it after close to two decades. Lara continued to downplay the problems she had with it, instead referring to her being in Canada, being on tour, etc. It was noted that a number of the current participants she has already been interacting with, or has seen in Sicily (Claudio Capeo), and how much fun she had. In particular she said that she enjoyed singing 'Le Secret de Louane', the mother in her responded to it, and she also loved singing with Zaza and Nolwenn.
Lara mentioned Lou several times – one in which Lou related to a piece of music in which a person’s pain was the main topic, which helped lead to the song ‘Ta peine’; and once when she mentioned Lou was now interested in dubbing as a profession, given that she is so good with accents. There have been numerous professions Lara has suggested that Lou is likely to pursue, but as we know, none of them have involved singing.
Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week:
For those who haven’t seen it, the complete appearance of Lara’s Masterclass on the Star Academie show last week can be seen at
youtu.be/i9qC3Jd5KP8?si=p7hnWneQWDXSxO8s
(assuming it’s still there…). One can readily see why some commentators said that Lara was part vocal coach and part psychologist in her interactions with the pupils, especially Pierre.
Similarly, although it was covered last week, Lara’s interview with RTL, with English subtitles is available (thanks to Lara The Ring Fabian) at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9qRES_4yPE
Occasionally, a ‘reaction’ video covers one of Lara’s less publicized songs; in this case it was the Theme from Mahogany, from Lara’s All the Woman in Me album:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppHFoNSOeEk
As one of her few English albums, and released without any promotion, it’s nice to see it still exists in people’s minds…
To conclude with a topic that has not been at the forefront of Lara’s recent exposure: Tele Loisirs had a short video describing Lara and Gabrielle’s “Beautiful History of Love”, (linked to by the Lara Fabian – L’etoile des anges FB site), at
www.facebook.com/teleloisirsfr/videos/387398830560465
Given all the recent activity, it would not be surprising to find Lara popping up anywhere in the French or Belgium media in the coming week(s). She’s once again ubiquitous, as she was back in the days before her move to Spain and Quebec, when she was a favored guest on many different shows. The host on one program said they had missed her – and it seems the French public has too, and they are all only too happy to have her back.
