On the 5th anniversary of Maurane’s death (May 5), Lara posted the following ‘reel’ on her FB and Instagram pages, at
www.facebook.com/reel/957521722332804/?s=single_unit
and
with the legend, “Mau…For always…in my heart and in my thoughts…I love you"
Understandably, the duet being played is “Tu es mon autre”, originally included on Lara’s Nue album. Many of you probably know the story, but it bears repeating: at the time of the album release, and the subsequent tour in which Maurane appeared with Lara to sing the song, there was a constituency in the French public that had a ‘less than favorable’ opinion of Lara. Maurane came under intense criticism for her participation, from her own fans; but she stood by Lara, her long-time friend. Ironically, in the remembrances of Maurane on public media nowadays, it is often this very duet that is played, and referred to as her ‘most famous duo’ (e.g., www.melody.tv/actualite/maurane-ses-plus-beaux-duos/).
Lara has of course sung other songs with Maurane, e.g.:

Many publications carried news of Lara’s remembrance for Maurane (e.g., www.voici.fr/news-people/lara-fabian-son-bel-hommage-a-la-chanteuse-maurane-pour-les-5-ans-de-sa-mort-756220), and it helped to publicize the loss. The anniversary of her passing is important in its own right, of course, but it also is indicative of the power Lara still has in the French speaking world – what she chooses to comment on, gets attention.
After an initial request for attendees for the first “Dream Team” show(s), there are no more scheduled casting events (https://www.casting-events.com/290-assister-a-dream-team-la-relve-des-stars). At the very least, it suggests more competitive programs are not currently being filmed – and Lara has released no new publicity photos associated with it. One would assume there would have to be ‘tryouts’ before the teams are formed, and after that decisions about the participants. Then familiarization of the teachers with the ‘kids’, and considerable teaching before any real competition can take place. The ‘lead-up’ to live shows might well be longer than the shows themselves, unless those learning sessions will be part of the program, as on the Star Academie.
Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week:
The Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site posted a whole series of pictures (some 24(!)) and associated youtube videos (links provided) of Lara with Maurane or in homage to her. It's available at
www.facebook.com/media/set?set=a.170970824448322&type=3
Very comprehensive, illustrating the depth of their friendship, professional and personal.
Lara The Ring Fabian posted an interview of Lara with Sonia Benezra from 2010, with English subtitles, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMSYT81YsiE
As she notes, the interview is quite personal about her romantic relationships, with some nice comments about Rick Allison, and about the letters she wrote to those women singers she admired and paid homage to in her French (and English) albums. It was still at the point in time where Lara was enthusiastic about the Mademoiselle Zhivago 'musical film' - an enthusiasm which ended the same way many of her romantic relationships did...

The Lara Fabian America FB site, as part of their weekend ‘Lara’ concert, linked to her performance from a music festival in North Cyprus in 2015, at

One can appreciate both the different appearance of Lara, and her set list, with its strong English components for a primarily English speaking audience.

In a somewhat unique take on ‘reaction videos’, a vocal coach reviews Lara’s “teaching techniques, in particular her work on ‘stage expression’, available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rPDX2hIwxo
Very informative, both for Lara’s teaching, and the comments on it. (Humorously, one person commenting on this video expressed surprise at Lara’s strong Quebec accent, and wondered whether Lara was playing around. Others pointed out that some people can be ‘sponges’ for accents, and as soon as they go somewhere, they immediately adopt the prevailing accent. Lara has often said she herself is like that).
As discussed above, it’s unclear whether Lara is currently busy filming anything further for the Dream Team show, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t involved in some of the other aspects. Working with children (8-14 years old) is very challenging, as the time allowed is limited and closely monitored, something Lara has not experienced in her previous reality TV shows. So it will take time. Nevertheless, her love of children, and teaching, should make this a very enjoyable experience.
