Two items lead the news this week, and they’ll be addressed chronologically. They are about as different as could be…
Lara reappeared this past week on a serious podcast, with the title ‘From Unlove to Self Love’ on a series called “Metamorphosis -The Awakening of Consciousness”. It can be found at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIr-5Sjr1r4
Lara even went so far as to advertise this program on her FB and Instagram pages, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=806463950837900&set=a.259330805551220
and
Her accompanying text read “It is with joy that I announce that you can discover this Thursday, April 13 the podcast that my friend Issa Padovani and I recorded for "Métamorphose Podcast" with Anne Ghesquière, on the theme "From unlove to self love"...💙”
This was obviously of special importance to her, so it behooves us to discuss it properly. It was not Lara’s typical interview program, although she has touched upon a number of these issues as part of more typical question and answer sessions. But these philosophies may well play into her forthcoming projects, especially those over which she has control, like a new album.
The joint discussion, with Issa Padovani, covered the following main areas: (1) How we develop a lack of love for ourselves; (2) Onsei Do (Kotatama) (3) Non-violent communication (NVC). Parts (2) and (3) encompass ways of moving to self love, and how that affects others. Lara and Issa (formerly Isabelle) have known each other for many years, and there were some mystical elements in their meeting; in general Lara has been an acolyte of his teachings, and her popularity has enhanced the audience for them.
Concerning area (1): The basic idea is that as ‘little human beings’ we ultimately disappoint our parents in one way or another. Parents have their program for us, their expectations of us, and when we don’t follow it perfectly, we discover ‘conditional love’. We wonder what we have to do to be loved. It’s the principle of ‘non-devaluation of parents’. The child always feel it is in the wrong; and when criticized for the action, it equates that with not being loved. Lara called people (like her) who have this problem ‘insecurabists’.
As for how it has affected Lara – she feels that once we learn this when young, it never leaves us. In her career, she might get a thousand commendations for her work, but she will focus on and remember the people who didn’t like what she did. Due to that early influence, she equated that with them not liking her (and to be fair, often it did seem like they didn’t like her, personally – something she called out from time to time, saying they didn’t even really know her). Experience that often enough, in combination with early childhood experiences, and you develop a dislike for yourself.
The consequence of this dislike is that one feels one doesn’t deserve anything. That leads to one becoming a giver, and have trouble receiving. Lara noted that she has always wanted to be the hero, helping others, and has had difficulty asking for what she wanted. She’s learning to change this…
(2) ) Onsei Do Kotamama is defined as a sound technique that aligns/tunes one to the original vibration of consciousness. It involves a chant of ‘soul words’ (Onsei means sound in Japanese, and Kotatama means soul words). It allows one to reach a stillness inside (the goal of many meditation techniques).
Issa Podavani noted that because of her lack of self-love, Lara always emphasized outward self-expression (exemplified by her intense, strong vocalizations). As she comes to love herself more, and continues with this practice, she learns to ‘sing from her silent center’, “to listen to the silence inside, where one can access the infinite where you really are. The infinite then speaks through you, it will hear and connect through you, connect to both the uniqueness and the infinite of you.”
Lara said the following: Creating from the place of silence was the goal of her Lockdown Sessions album - to get out of the frame of a song so that the music or texts took another form. She didn’t want to sing the usual songs in this COVID time when all had stopped. This was a different music sung differently, with hyper short texts, like mantras. An album with no expectations or objective - as if sung from that inner space so as to no longer be a performance. She said, “At 53 I can no longer drag the ball and chain of the girl who sings like she sang Adagio when she was 30”, so she chose to apprehend the music differently.
Lara said she was always singing with her arms outstretched, which seemed desperate so she created this friction, this hatred because her intensity was disturbing. Today she chooses to sing with arms closing in on someone else and thus including the other.
(3) Non-violent communication (NVC) is the approach of interacting with others through the act of making an observation without judgement. Judgements are often the result of one’s own feelings – one must take responsibility for them, and understand one’s own needs in the process, even be able to express them honestly. Similarly, one needs to engage in ‘empathetic listening’, and understand the other person’s needs. Finally, one has to try and educate the other person by presenting another paradigm, one not based on good and bad. This way the communication with others can result in an honest exchange without antagonizing.
Lara said she has to give herself the time to live the experience of this practice. When one allows oneself to receive, to open the door to the love of oneself, it also helps one to interact with others in this NVC way. But it’s a practice that she needs to integrate. She concluded by saying that one also has to make the choice to be well.
Not discussed on the program is how all this will affect Lara going forward in her career. It was noted on the show that Lara’s wonderful album “Le Secret” encompassed some of these ideas, but that it was, perhaps, 10 years too early – as the ideas are now better known and more accepted. But are Lara’s fans even now ready for that, or do they want the “30 year old” singer/songwriter? Lara probably has doubts about her fans’ capacity for change; on her recent tour, she pretty much did sing like she was 30, including some amazing performances of Adagio (e.g., www.youtube.com/watch?v=BulgxI-8zj4).
As long as Lara produces her own albums, she is capable of releasing anything she wants, though even with the “Lockdown Sessions”, she called the work ‘experimental’, and originally did not even want it to have general distribution. As she grows more confident in these practices, perhaps she will be more confident in producing albums increasingly focused inwardly, with singing to match. If so, her fans’ response will be interesting to see.
For the second item, Lara posted a picture of herself on her FB and Instagram site, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=806009914216637&set=a.259330805551220
and
with the accompanying comment, “From my Parisian peaceful haven, @lesjardinsdufaubourg ... I wish you a beautiful day and I'm preparing you beautiful moments full of stars 🌟”
There is a lot this past week advertising Lara’s new project. For one, the Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site stated that “On the Instagram accounts of Eloise Delhoume, communication agent and Thierry Martino, image agent and manager of Lara, we can see with happiness that Lara is preparing a new project for us.”
And the Lara Fabian Family FB site posted a reel of Lara’s (twice in fact, wearing two different outfits) with her turning and walking through a door, along with the implication that it is related to her new project for TF1; these are available at
www.facebook.com/reel/3388265911446970/?s=single_unit
and
www.facebook.com/reel/1224537568188966/?s=single_unit
The Lara Fabian America FB site posted a picture from one of these reels that they indicated was from Lara’s press agent, Thierry Martino:
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=632874992185563&set=a.427157889423942
with the tags, #New Project, #TV show.
And, there is the youtube video of the filming actually being done, at
www.youtube.com/shorts/mbO03TqGRZ0
Last week we noted the new entertainment show for TF1 that it seems will include Lara as one of the celebrities. And that appears to be what is being referred to…The Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site had some more information, associated with a few promo pictures, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=768304951330975&set=pcb.768304994664304
Their text reads: “It's official! Lara Fabian will soon be recording on TF1 for a brand new variety show.
This is a brand new format in the company of many celebrities, including Matt Pokora, Lara Fabian, Claudio Capeo and many others...
It is said that Lara would coach very young singers and would host the show with other artists.
Presenter Helene Mannarino is said to be at the helm of the show.
More official information to come today and in the next few days...”
It sounds perfect for Lara, since she would be in a position to ‘transmit’ her knowledge to (very) young singers, but, at the same time, since there would be many other celebrities participating, it would at least theoretically allow her time to return to Quebec, assuming that is still her desire. It would seem to reduce the chance that she would be involved with ‘Star Academie’ on TF1 later in the year, though if it works out well, who knows?
All of this activity indicates a public renewal for Lara, appropriately, as spring is the season where things again come alive.
Interesting photo(s) of the week:
The Lara Fabian Family FB site posted several pictures of Lara with Giora LInenberg, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=178399485072660&set=pcb.178399515072657
This was in Almaty, Kazakhstan for a private concert; and the site produced this ‘ditty’ :
Lara Fabian Family is in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
"Music is eternal, and so are we. 🎼
One magical evening with Lara.
Together again!
Private concert with @gioramusic
@rami_osservaser and @liortevet 🖤
Good night everyone ⭐️"
There is no explicit date included, and their use of the present tense raises the possibility that it took place this past week. However, as they followed this with several reels of Lara's past performances, it's also possible this too is not current. [If anybody knows more about it, please let us know...]
The Lara Fabian Family FB site had a picture of Lara with Alan Geaam at his Paris restaurant, and that apparently was over this past weekend,
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=177515551827720&set=a.119466624299280
His nice accompanying comment read,
“Good morning everyone ☀️
1000 thanks dear Lara for your visit, your kindness, your sympathy. I am very honored to have cooked for you and to have been able to share my culinary story with you in my restaurant Alan Geaam.
What touches me the most is to remember that our "first meeting" took place when I arrived in France in 1999, through your albums full of emotions and your bewitching voice... your words that I was practicing rehearsing, learning your songs and French at the same time... 🥰
Sometimes life gives us very nice surprises.”
This past week was a good example of that.
And while this isn’t a picture, it refers to Lara’s Instagram reel video discussed last week. Thanks go to the Lara Fabian America FB site for pointing out that it had actually been on Lara’s Instagram site as a ‘story’, hence it disappeared as soon as Easter was over. A particularly curious choice as it minimized the number of fans who saw it. But this website did (https://www.noovomoi.ca/en-vedette/lara-fabian-paques-robe-carreautee-orange-escarpins-rouges.html) and they chose that video to ‘elect’ Lara as their ‘star of the day’. Here’s their article:

Lara Fabian shines for Easter in an orange plaid dress and red pumps
Lara Fabian is our star of the day!
The famous diva shared a sublime photo of her look to her fans on Instagram during the Easter celebrations this Sunday.
In the image, the singer is breathtaking in a short orange plaid dress. She completed her gorgeous style with red pumps. The class!
As always, she is gorgeous! We hope she had a great day with her loved ones!

Amen!
Presumably we’ll hear more of Lara’s new project in the coming week(s), as Lara and her people seem anxious to tell her fans about it. On another positive note, the incidence of COVID infections has now decreased dramatically, so this is (hopefully) the last time we’ll end with “Stay safe everybody”. Subsequently, it will be implied.
