This past week featured the latest Academy Awards, and a question one can ask, with respect to Lara, is how many Oscar nominated songs has she sung (publicly)? Not that Oscar nominated songs represent the best songs (even the best songs in movies); especially recently, the commercial pressure that big organizations put on Oscar voters skews the results to these companies, so often the songs that are chosen are not ones that people will ever sing subsequently. Also, Lara is not a singer who normally devotes much of her repertoire to ‘covers’ (very few in either her records or concerts). But she does sing duets on TV shows, as well as occasional covers for special occasions, and sometimes notable songs (from past years) are chosen. In searching the Oscar nominated songs from the 1930s onward, one finds eight songs (at least – it’s certainly possible I’ve missed one). Here's the list, with the associated youtube video or audio of her doing it. [The asterisk indicates the song actually won that particular year].

Lara does a wonderful job on all these songs. Humorously, there are two different songs entitled ‘Remember Me’ which won in different years (1937, 2017); and Lara has her own “Remember Me” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYytUfgSdBo), although that doesn’t really count.
Also this past week was the International Women’s Day, and while Lara did not comment on it, it was noted in conjunction with her. The Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site linked to a video of Lara 'promoting women’ at

In previous years, when both Lara and her fan sites were more active, there was somewhat more engagement on the issue, e.g., from the Lara Fabian Greece FB site in 2021,

Confidences & recipes!
“All the essential moments of my life I have experienced around the dinner table, whether it was to celebrate events, to find comfort and to share fragments of life."
A busy 2022 for Lara Fabian. After taking on the position of director of the Star Academie in Quebec for the second year in a row and finishing her latest musical tour, the singer-songwriter also recently had her book "Tout" published in Europe. A book that Lara Fabian describes as a "gourmet autobiography", in which she tells a part of her life through 17 touching and enticing stories.
WM: You released your first book entitled "Je passe a table" a little over a year ago in Canada. You have just released it in Europe under the title "Tout" and you dedicate it to the women you love the most. Who are they?
LF: They are the women of my lineage, starting with my grandmother, my mother, her sisters and my daughter. It is these women in the first place and some women who with time have really contributed to make me a more serene being, a more peaceful being and a being who has understood the meaning of being able to talk about herself without any bitterness and always putting the prism on the side of the light.
WM: What does this book represent to you?
LF: This book is a gourmet autobiography where many of the founding stories of my life converge in an almost chronological way. All the essential moments of my life I have experienced around the table, whether it was to celebrate events, to find comfort or to share fragments of life. The story I tell stops at the moment I meet my husband.
WM: The book is cut into 17 stories and is enhanced with personal archival photos, what made you want to share so much about your family history?
LF: The desire came from telling your story in another way than through music. I have often done it in songs and it seemed interesting to me to be able to do it by going through the table, of these extremely important moments shared with relatives. What is important to me is that there were 17 stories that were told as each time, an important page of life. It is a special book, which can be read even in the disorder, even if there is a form of chronology.
WM: It also includes recipes, all of which are very appetizing by the way. Can you tell us what your favorite food is?
LF: One of my sweet sins is the "French Comedy" crepe Suzette, it was the dessert that my mother made best and that I loved.
WM: You were the director of the Star Academie in Quebec in 2021 and 2022, did you enjoy this role and what memories do you retain from this experience?
LF: It is by far one of the most beautiful experiences of my career to be in the transmission and to have the chance and the privilege to transmit, to contribute as an artist using the 30 years of career, all the keys that I can have in my drawers. It was wonderful to see how much it could contribute to the evolution of these young candidates and how much it made sense to them.
WM: Concerning the music, you just did a tour in Europe, how did it go?
LF: It was wonderful to be able to re-boot because everything had stopped because of Covid. We couldn't finish the "50 World tour" and to be able to go back on the road was pretty magical. It was also very important for me to finish what I had to finish.
WM: You were born in Belgium, your mother is Italian, you then went to conquer Canada, and everyone knows you in France. What is your relationship with these four countries?
LF: I understood very early on that I didn't have to choose and that I could be a happy mixture of all of them and come out richer and more privileged. The relationship is different with one country or another if we talk about the public, but I always laugh that it makes me a multi-headed animal. I am fortunate to be able to converse, travel, and move through my life being nourished by this multitude of things.
WM: After 30 years of career, you have evolved, you have had many artistic experiences, but finally, what do you still enjoy most in your daily life?
LF: Sharing. Whether it's in the form of transmission, duets, collaborations, that's what I love about being an artist.

This interview was likely provided by Lara when she was in France during her book promotion tour, though it was just published now. The most novel components were her comments about her favorite food, and her relationship with the different countries.
As we know, Lara has been trying to sell off her villa in Quebec so as to move back closer to Montreal, and various articles in French publications have noted that she’s continuing to have to drop the price. For example, in Voici (https://www.voici.fr/news-people/lara-fabian-sa-superbe-villa-du-quebec-est-toujours-a-vendre-et-elle-brade-son-prix-751529):
------------------------
Lara Fabian: her superb villa in Quebec is still for sale, and she is selling off her price!
Since last summer, Lara Fabian has put her Quebec villa on sale, for nothing less than 2.3 million euros. However, the illustrious singer does not seem to find a buyer and according to the Journal des femmes, this March 8, 2023, she would have lowered her price
Owner of a sumptuous villa in Quebec, where she has been living for a few years, Lara Fabian has made a big decision... The singer has decided to sell her home located in Bromont. According to the site of our Quebec colleagues 7 Jours , the big star wants to stay in Canada, but in another house. With the help of local real estate agency DuProprio, Lara Fabian has chosen to sell her stunning home, which she has lived in for years with her husband Gabriel di Giorgio and 16-year-old daughter Lou.
The estate is spread over three floors, and is nestled in the heart of the Bromont mountain forest. It is even possible, according to the agency "to buy a large part of the furniture". The price ? 3 million Canadian dollars, or 2.3 million euros! This March 8, 2023, Le Journal des femmes revealed that the singer of Je t'aime was struggling to find a buyer...
She is selling off her property to attract a buyer
Lara Fabian finds herself for a few months in a very complicated position, since she has on her arms her villa in Quebec that she cannot sell. Indeed, the announcement of this residence has been posted on the real estate site Realtor for already 123 days, without news. It was on July 14, 2022 that the Quebec site 7 Jours published the announcement of the singer, who wanted to sell her “high-end” style villa . But the most extravagant goods are sometimes the hardest to sell...
Finding no buyer, the 53-year-old singer decided to sell off her property to attract buyers. On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, Le Journal des femmes has now revealed the new price of her house, which today costs 2,625,000 dollars, or 1.8 million euros. We hope that the beautiful Canadian will soon have interesting offers. To be continued.
------------------------------
Or, again, from Pure People (https://www.purepeople.com/article/lara-fabian-dans-l-impasse-elle-brade-son-immense-maison-au-canada-l-annonce-est-tres-allechante_a505655/1):
-------------------------------
Lara Fabian at an impasse: she is selling off her huge house in Canada, the announcement is very attractive...
It is a sacrifice that Stéphane Plaza often asks of owners when they want to part with their property in his shows: lowering the selling price. Lara Fabian has put a beautiful house up for sale in Canada, still on the market after several months. Only solution? Slash its price!
Times are tough for everyone (or almost). Even Lara Fabian is concerned! The 53-year-old Belgian-Canadian singer owns a magnificent house in the city of Bromont in Canada. A luxurious property with a modern style, set in nearly 3 hectares of land including a lake. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a summer kitchen, wooden ceiling, large bay windows... All the elements are there to attract potential buyers, except for one detail, apparently: its price.
Posted on the Realtor site for more than a hundred days, the big house has still not found a buyer. An unforeseen event that prevents Lara Fabian from settling peacefully in another property that she covets in Canada, as announced by Le Journal des Femmes. The only solution to maximize your chances of parting with this villa: make an effort on the price.
Listed for the tidy sum of 3 million Canadian dollars (about 2,060,000 euros), the price of the house was finally revised downwards. It is now at 2,625,000 Canadian dollars (a little over 1.8 million euros) that Lara Fabian has set the price. If you have this sum, you will therefore have plenty of time to treat yourself to one of the places in which the artist, her husband Gabriel di Giorgio and her daughter Lou lived.
“I am a child of winter”
While she could have chosen to settle in France or Belgium, Lara Fabian preferred the charm and vastness of Canada to flourish in her everyday life. A carefully thought-out decision that she does not regret as she made it known in 2019: "I am a child of winter, I love the snow. I also had to settle there when I became a juror of La Voix", she declared to the magazine Gala . And then Lou wanted to stay in Montreal where she made lots of girlfriends and buddies. Her magician husband being able to work from anywhere, nothing hindered Lara Fabian's project. Especially since in Canada, for them, "I am Lou's mother, nothing else. [...] Over there, all occurs without fuss, with much less ceremonies than in Europe.“ Anonymity that is well worth a small discount!
-----------------------------
The news that she was selling the house was covered here last year (News Updates of 7/19/22 and 7/26/22, and also on the Lara Fabian America FB site, among others). This is the second price reduction, each about 200,000 Canadian dollars, the first having taken place last November (News Update 11/15/22). One of the problems with selling luxurious houses in isolated areas is that some people want to buy such houses to show them off, so the location is not favorable. [On a personal note, some people I knew were in a similar situation, and it took them five years for a sale to be completed]. If Lara indeed has a particular property in mind to purchase, and depends on this income to do it, will it still be available? Is she currently ‘renting’ or is she still living in her old place? A conundrum…
The song “Your Love”, with lyrics written by Lara and music by Igor Krutoi in 2020, and sung by Dimash Qudaibergen, now has 12 million views (!) on youtube, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0yO7Sy9IcY&feature=youtu.be
It reminds us that Lara worked on a number of additional songs with Krutoi, that she, or someone else, has sung from time to time, though no second album with him was ever produced. Under current circumstances, it seems extremely unlikely it will be.
While there’s no indication we’ll be seeing Lara on any new TV program in the foreseeable future, a show on which she appeared in 1989 is being broadcast tonight (3/14) on Melody TV at 10:50PM (https://www.linternaute.com/television/varietes-billets-doux-p5574595/avec-lara-fabian-pierre-perret-marc-lavoine-e5574596/). For those who have access to that channel, and missed this, it will be rebroadcast on 3/20 at the same local time.
