Another week with Lara’s continued absence of public interaction…if this becomes the norm, that comment will no longer be made, just assumed. Meanwhile, another example of Lara’s absence, as well as that of many other performers, is from Les Enfoires.
First about them: For more than three decades, Les Enfoirés ('The Tossers' or 'The Bastards') is the name given to the singers and performers in the yearly charity concert for the Restos du Cœur. Founded in 1986, its first concert was held in 1989.
And then about Restos du Coeur (from Wikipedia): a French charity, the main activity of which is to distribute food packages and hot meals to those in need. The association targets homeless and those with a low or a very low income (single families, old people with a low pension, young adults...). The association also helps people to find housing and supports other projects…The association, highly respected in France, is known for its huge number of volunteers (66,000 in 2015) and its original fund-raising method [i.e., the series of concerts by well-known French performers].
At one point in time Lara was one of the performers who participated, in three different years (1998, 2001 and 2005), performing 17 songs and accompanying 27 songs (e.g., backing vocals). There are some notable videos of her joint performances on the show, e.g.,

As evident from the years noted, Lara has not joined in for the last several decades.
Her absence, as well as that of a number of other notable performers was the subject of an article in Ladepeche.fr (https://www.ladepeche.fr/2023/03/03/concerts-des-enfoires-2023-je-naime-pas-cet-etalage-ces-stars-qui-refusent-dy-participer-et-celles-qui-ny-reviendront-plus-11035039.php):

Concerts des Enfoirés 2023: "I don't like this display" ... these stars who refuse to participate and those who will not return
The concert event of the Enfoirés will be broadcast this Friday, March 3 on TF1. This unmissable event for the benefit of the Restos du Coeur is shunned by some French-speaking stars. Here are the ones...
The great concert of the Enfoirés troupe will be broadcast this Friday, March 3 on TF1. Filmed in January at the Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon, the show will feature many artists, such as Zazie, Patrick Bruel, Julien Clerc, Amel Bent, Lorie Pester or Mimie Mathy. We will also note the presence of Mentissa and Sofia Essaïdi, rugby player Antoine Dupont, or Formula 1 champion Esteban Ocon. On the other hand, no Gims, Stromae, Angele, Orelsan, Julien Doré... Why do these great French-speaking stars refuse to participate in the operation for the benefit of Restos du Coeur?
"I have another conception of charity"
"I do good causes on my side", declares Booba in Télé Loisirs. Asked by Youtubeur Sam Zirah, singer Keen'V explains: "I know that I would not feel in my place (...) I could not bear to see excessive ego or fuss from some artists". Stromae also declined the invitation, as did Orelsan, Angèle, Gims and Julien Doré : "I don't like this display, I have another conception of charity. I prefer to help associations on my side without shouting it from the rooftops", confided the singer to the newspaper Le Matin a few years ago. Mylène Farmer admitted to TV Magazine in 2011 that she did not feel "at ease in a group". “I am more serene in an individual approach. It is a question of character, I believe”. Sheila goes further: "It took a turn that, personally, I don't like". Gérard Depardieu, Patrick Sébastien and Laurent Gerra have also decided not to join the troupe.
Michel Sardou and Eddy Mitchell were part of the very first troupe of the Enfoirés in 1989 and have declared that they will no longer participate. Just like Renaud who now refuses to go "clown" in the show. Yannick Noah, Lara Fabian and Hélène Segara, they too will never set foot there. Jean-Marie Bigard, present until 2001, had explained on RTL: "I did not agree on two or three things, in particular to keep money which was not used, whereas it was not Coluche's will". As for Muriel Robin, godmother of the Enfoirés from 1992 to 2007, she drew a definitive line. "Les Enfoirés, it's over for me," she announced.
---------------------------------
A number of other publications carried similar articles (e.g., www.fourchette-et-bikini.fr/actus/les-enfoires-2023-ces-celebrites-qui-refusent-de-revenir-au-sein-de-la-troupe-28373.html; www.programme-tv.net/news/musique/320821-les-enfoires-2023-ces-stars-qui-ne-veulent-pas-ou-plus-participer/). None of the articles mention why Lara does not participate; this was covered many years ago in the wonderful Platine interview (7/12/09), (available on the Lara Full of Grace and LaradomUS URLs). Here’s what she said
------------------------------------
Platine: What of Les Enfoires? Despite three passages: in 1998, 2001 and 2005, you are not entered into the “permanent family”. You complain about it?
LF: No.
Platine: Is it your choice?
LF: It is a choice which is a consequence of one of their blunders. I believe they do not treat people properly. One is not a piece of meat. One is there to serve a cause. I would love that it be present behind the scenes as much as it is on the screen. It is a little sad that it’s not the case, that’s all. And I don’t speak of Jean-Jaques who remains honest and upright with respect to the cause. But, like everywhere, there are people in the courtyard of the king who demand powers which they do not have. When one learns of things that they have done on the backs of the artists – as they did with me in 2005 when they had a lack of respect – one can decide to never more return to it. I however wish them “good and long life”, for there are three and a half million homeless people in France. I’m an activist moreover for another association.
--------------------------
Every now and then there are rumors that Lara will rejoin the program (e.g., www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJi015OrUf8). It would certainly raise her visibility in France which it appears she is interested in doing, and it would make news were she to do so. It’s probably unlikely.
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that Lara has been neglecting her URL (larafabian.com). The one notable change is that the ‘Best of Live 2022 World Tour’ CD is no longer available on her shop (and probably hasn’t been for some time). You likely remember that Lara decided to sell it there when she discovered people buying it on tour were reselling it for a healthy profit on other on-line outlets. That’s still the case – one can buy it on ebay for $70 (+$12 for shipping from France) (or best offer). And unlike the ‘Lockdown Sessions’ CD, which made it to commercial outlets (amazon.fr) and is listed on her Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lara_Fabian_discography), this one is not, so it is destined to disappear entirely from her discography.
Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week:
From the Lara Fabian Family FB site, an intriguing photo of Lara,

And, as noted in a comment on that site, the Lara Fabian Netherlands FB site used that as part of their “Lara Fabian and Italy” albums, which can be found at

In their accompanying comments to the top set of photos, they provide not only links to some of Lara’s Italian language performances, but to other Italian (or Italian heritage) singers of repute, Lucio Dalla, Laura Pausini, Dean Martin, Paolo Conte, Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti, etc. Another good, creative job!
In a similar vein, the Lara Fabian America FB site posted a link to Lara’s performance of Caruso from last June in Montreal, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzkpO_ROKOwd
A really wonderful vocal, as the fan comments on the youtube page illustrate.
Also of interest is the video of Lara’s first ‘performance’ in France, of the song ‘Croire’ (October, 1989), the song she did for Eurovision. It can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqQaeH5HTfM
Amazing quality! Welcome back to ‘Lara Fabian’s Vault’ who uploaded the video, after an absence of some five years. [They’ve been active for the last 13 years, but seem to take multi-years off, a somewhat curious schedule ].
In a more general category, the Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site “offers you, to gently start spring, fun games on the theme of our favorite singer. And this, until the summer🌞
There will be EVERYTHING!
Puzzles, crosswords, the game of 7 differences... enough to have fun alone or with your family.”
The link, and the first puzzle, can be found at

Great Idea; Lara’s fan sites are having to be overly imaginative during her public absence.
Stay safe, everybody,
David
