There’s been no further news concerning the false report that Lara would become the next director of the Star Academie in France. the magazine 'Closer' didn’t seem to show any remorse about it, Lara’s people haven’t commented further, though the Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site wrote, “Nevertheless, Lara had expressed herself on the subject in a written press interview. She would like to be the future student tutor if offered to participate in the new class. Story to be followed ...”. And, according to (https://www.mariefrance.fr/actualite/star-academy-2023-lara-fabian-directrice-prochaine-saison-mise-point-733717.html#item=1) “For her part, Adeline Toniutti, singing teacher, indicated her wish to return, but the production has 'not yet solicited her'". It was Lara’s cameo appearance as singing teacher toward the end of last season that accelerated the interest in her participating in the show next season.
Even though Lara has not released a major new studio album in four years (The Lockdown Sessions two + years ago being considered ‘experimental’), her music continues to show up in the most unlikely places, and it is sometimes unlikely music at that. For instance, Lara’s album ‘Papillon’ is #51 today on the iTunes chart in Uruguay (!) (https://kworb.net/itunes/artist/larafabian.html) And a ‘top listens’ on last.fm in January include Lara’s album “9” (https://www.reddit.com/r/lastfm/comments/10q02wo/januarys_top_listens/). Given that these albums are not exactly ‘current’, one gets the feeling that even if Lara were to stop producing records now, her music would continue reverberating down the ages worldwide.
And continuing with the ‘unlikely places’ theme, the Eurovision contest, to be held this coming May, features a Quebec singer La Zarra representing France. It is not unusual for a singer from a different country being a representative in this contest…as we know, Lara represented Luxembourg in 1988. An article about 6 Francophones (including Lara) who fell in that category can be found at (https://www.ouest-france.fr/leditiondusoir/2023-02-20/la-zarra-celine-dion-lara-fabian-ces-francophones-ont-chante-a-l-eurovision-pour-un-autre-pays-d15e4ca8-425a-4dcc-9e79-22e1569991d5); the others include Celine Dion (representing Switzerland, 1988), Francoise Hardy (Monoco, 1963), Michele Torr (Monoco, 1977), Natasha Saint-Pier (Canadian singer representing France, 2001) and France Gall (Luxembourg, 1965). Everyone is used to teams in football (soccer) being loaded with players from other countries, but it would seem like singing should be more indigenous to a nation; and while Luxembourg and Monoco are small, France is not!

Lara Fabian the Netherlands FB site showed some photos of Lara with Mustafa Cecleli, and they also provided links to articles and videos about her work with him, often on the song “Make Me Yours Tonight”, as well as her various other interactions in the country. For those who want to explore Lara’s past work in Turkey, this is an invaluable resource, found at

In a previous week we discussed the unreleased versions of ‘Toutes les femmes en moi’. On a more general note, there are various unreleased songs of Lara’s that show up now and then, and one site that often provides them is (https://www.youtube.com/@user-np7be7oj6s/videos). In particular, one can find songs such as:
Don’t Go Away; I Want You That Bad; I Loves You Porgy; Hold On To My Heart; and No Show. These songs have quality, helped of course by Lara’s wonderful singing. No Show in particular has excited people – it already has three reaction videos :

As you most likely have noticed, Lara has decreased her interactions with fans on social media, basically since the beginning of 2023 (three posts on her permanent Instagram account, two on Facebook in the first two months of this year). It’s perhaps too soon to say that this represents a change in behavior; she has after all been traveling. And she may be working on a new album, though that has not usually stopped her from communicating. But if the self-proclaimed new phase of her career, one focused on transmitting her knowledge, is playing a role, the occasional interaction may become the new norm, except for times when some new fan-related project comes to the fore (like a new album, concert, or TV show). Work on a school for teaching young singers, or, as she recently stated, helping people not in the profession for whom singing can provide a needed release and growth, would not necessarily involve any public fanfare at this stage of the process.
Her (relatively few) quite active fan sites have therefore focused on past pictures/videos (of which there is much that is very high quality), as have the numerous reaction videos on youtube. On the other hand, her lack of involvement has meant that a number of other fan sites have had very few posts for months now, and the press, as we have seen, has jumped on any false rumor that becomes available. We’ll see what happens; Lara has always had a penchant for being in the public eye, so predicting what she will do is a fool’s task. Stay safe everybody,
David
