A report surfaced this past week that Lara had accepted the position as Director for the French version of the Star Academy, for next season, with the news posted in Closer Magazine (https://www.closermag.fr/people/exclu.-star-academy-cette-immense-chanteuse-qui-sera-directrice-de-la-prochaine-saison-1693196), and then picked up by a number of outlets. However, an article in Tele 7 refuted that (https://www.programme-television.org/news-tv/Star-Academy-TF1-Lara-Fabian-ne-sera-pas-directrice-son-agent-denonce-une-fake-news-4703412):

Star Academy (TF1): Lara Fabian will not be director, her agent denounces "fake news"!
A day after being launched by the tabloid press, the rumor concerning Lara Fabian and "Star Academy" has been denied.
Expected for season 10 of Star Academy in the fall of 2022 on TF1, Lara Fabian was the subject of false information announcing her as director of the next season of the reality program . But if she ever returns to the castle of Dammarie-lès-Lys in the eleventh season, it will still not be as an artist.
Contrary to what Closer magazine announced this Friday, February 17, 2023, the interpreter of Immortelle will not succeed Michael Goldman, who could thus perhaps keep his position as student director for the next season of Star Academy on the A. It was Lara Fabian's image agent, Thierry Martino, who reacted to the false information in his Instagram story. When one of his subscribers asked him if the singer would really be the next director, Thierry Martino left no doubt and firmly denied it by replying: "Closer and the scoops... FAKE NEWS ".
While waiting for the return of the hit show, another rumor launched by Benjamin Castaldi in TPMP is still circulating about Star Academy : TF1 is considering renewing reality TV for a twelfth season of twelve weeks , against only six weeks for the season 10.
---------------------------------------
One can understand why this rumor had legs…Lara has history of leading the successful effort in Quebec, did a good job in her one appearance on the French show last year, and doesn’t seem to have anything on her schedule. In addition, Lara’s fans, at least, are starved for some ‘real news’ concerning her future prospects, something that has been (and so continues to be) sorely absent. The refusal does not mean it will not happen; where there’s smoke there is sometimes fire …but if it was just a case of jumping the gun, one wouldn’t expect the denial to be so definitive. It also doesn’t mean that Lara will not be associated with the show in some capacity, perhaps as teacher.
In a story that is pretty much off-topic, though it still involves Lara, you may remember that it was reported she was grieving the unexpected death of her cousin Franck Sauarat (News Update of 12/13). She wrote, “Dear Franck. The last image I will keep of you is that of our last meeting for my show at the Olympia... You who loved music and artists so much... The world of television is losing one of those who made it possible to offer it so many beautiful entertainments … My emotional thoughts accompany you and my heart turns to yours.”
In the off-topic aspect of this story, as reported in (https://www.legossip.net/lara-fabian-et-pierre-palmade-ensemble-face-a-ladversite-unis-par-la-douleur/573948/), his partner Pierre Palmade was even more broken by the death, and as written in that source, “The sudden disappearance of television producer Franck Saurat has deeply affected the 54-year-old comedian, says Paris Match, which looks back on the current setbacks. He caused a terrible traffic accident that injured three people and led to the death of a pregnant woman's baby. So Pierre Palmade could be indicted, and has been placed in pre-trial detention.” This is also covered on a youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAhsyOUXyH8) which notes that the family of the victims say they are "insensitive to the excuses" of the comedian.
Trauma multiplied…

In one interview, Lara indicated that this was her favorite concert.

Melody TV (www.melody.tv) in France specializes in music performers from the 1960s-1990s. According to their recent youtube video,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYmJTnXiVx8
they say, “To celebrate this love between the Belgian-born singer and the French, Melody has rediscovered Lara Fabian's first television appearance, never rebroadcast since 1989. In total, Melody offers you three programs dedicated to this great artist, two of which are completely new!” [starting Feb. 25]
On their website they indicate one can subscribe to their channel, either monthly or yearly (though I haven’t tried to do it, and do not know whether it is open to subscribers outside of France). [Again, this is not an endorsement!!!] They have a youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@melodytv/featured) though they don’t appear to use it…Perhaps these programs, once broadcast, will find their way onto the web for broader distribution…
One wonders what Lara thought about the false rumor concerning her and the French version of Star Academie…The (false) news was received with highly positive responses in the French media and by the public writing in; did it actually give her a more positive outlook on the prospect? Why would Closer have published something that they could have easily checked – were they trying to push it along? Or was it a trial balloon by Lara’s people, perhaps to show TF1 what the response would be? If nothing else, the fact that for a brief while it was universally believed must have underlined to her its feasibility, though backtracking now after a firm denial might be awkward. In any event, rumors of Lara’s future professional activity will likely continue as long as she has nothing on her calendar. Stay safe, everybody,
David
