In the news this past week, Lara did a U-turn concerning her ‘Live CD’ associated with her June concert in Montreal. Originally it was reported that the CD was being sold only on the concert tour. However, she found that people were re-selling the CD for what she referred to as ‘outrageous’ prices. To forestall that, she decided to sell it herself; on her FB site, she placed the picture
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=699925528158410&set=a.259330805551220
and the post:
“The "LARA LIVE" CD and the official schedule of the BEST OF Tour are now available to all on the online store
www.larafabian.shop"
In particular, it can be found at:
www.larafabian.shop/product-page/cd-lara-live-tourn%C3%A9e-best-of
Fans did ask whether it would be available for streaming, on iTunes, or sold from FNAC, but, so far, there is no indication that it will be found anywhere but Lara’s shop.
The tracklist is: Je m’arreterai pas de t’aimer; Alleluia; Medley Made in Quebec; J’y crois encore; Si tu m’aimes; La difference; Caruso; I Will Love Again; Je suis malade; Broken Vow; Saisir le jour; Humana; Je t’aime
The cost of the CD is 29 Euros; if one wants it sent to North America, it approximately doubles the price. (Is this any less than it was being resold for at on-line sites?). Note also that the music from it is still available on youtube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=d21wlo1C3MI, which currently has had 4K viewers, and where it has gotten wonderful reviews.
In sort of the same vein, Lara The Ring Fabian provided her take on the ‘Best Live Vocals’ from the European tour, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4MTyFv3Id8
It contains portions of songs where Lara excels…in her comments, she notes that “choosing footage for this was hard!, as Lara was amazing and incredibly consistent during the entire tour”. Nevertheless, these choices are wonderful. [She had previously posted a “Best Live Vocals” from the Quebec portion of the tour, available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEFUHNt9EJQ].
Also in her associated comments, Lara The Ring Fabian wrote, “How about we request this video to reactors? This way they’ll know Lara is still out there killing it and we’ll be putting an end to the “is she retired?” comments.”
In that regard, there is still no end to the ‘reaction videos’ to Lara’s singing appearing on youtube, as has been the case for some time now. Many of them use her classic appearances from years ago, hence the question arising about her current status. Lara sang very well on this concert tour (when she was completely healthy), as can be seen in the previous and following videos; yet even if in some cases it rivaled what she did in the past, those previous performances have garnered such renown that it will be hard for newer ones to rival them, given that she's singing the same songs. The solution: come up with new songs to sing, with equivalent emotional intensity. Maybe the next album…
As further indication of Lara's current prowess, some more videos have become available for the European concerts:

In further news about the recent tour, it was noted that Lena Kovačević was the opening act for Lara at her Belgrade concert. An article at (https://informer.rs/dzet-set/kultura/744876/lena-kovacevic-nastup-arena-lara-fabian) discusses this:
--------------------------
Lena Kovačević thrilled with her performance in Stark Arena, at the opening of Lara Fabian's concert
Lena Kovačević delighted several thousand visitors at the Stark Arena at the opening of Lara Fabian's concert, where, together with her musicians, she was the opening act for the famous Lara as part of the LARA FABIAN WORLD TOUR 2022
Lena opened the concert with the song "Beograde", followed by the hits "Hir", "Dubine", "Hurry", "Samo da mi je", and the international hit "Cafe" marked the end of the performance. Lena's band on the arena stage consisted of Marko Fabri - bass, Mladen Dragović - drums, Srđan Tanasković - piano and Maks Kočetov - saxophone.
Lena met Lara Fabijan and her team backstage. The opening of Lara's concert represents a special honor to our artist, because Fabian and her musicians do not practice having guests at their performances. It is interesting that both artists are part of the international music agency and production company Pasion Turca.
--------------------------------------
Yes, quite interesting about the international music agency, which may explain why this happened. You may remember Lara had all sorts of problems with people handling her affairs in Eastern European countries; this, apparently, has been her solution.
In other news, we’ve seen over the years how Lara’s songs provide a perfect backdrop for ice skaters, and another example can be found at the “SKATE CANADA INTERNATIONAL HUB” (https://figureskatersonline.com/news/2022/10/27/2022-skate-canada-international-hub/), Lindsay van Zundert, a Dutch skater, used ‘Pas sans toi’. Her nationality is an indication of how wide-spread the knowledge of Lara’s songs is. [The song didn’t really help her much; she ended the short free-style in ninth place (https://www.eurosport.nl/kunstrijden/montreal-van-zundert-negende-na-korte-kur-bij-eerste-grand-prix_sto9205959/story.shtml)]
The Star Academie show in France is going on, without Lara of course, but her name still comes up, as noted in the following article (https://fr.news.yahoo.com/nest-encore-au-niveau-lara-080621742.html):
-------------------------
We are not yet at the level of Lara Fabian, Céline Dion and Beyoncé": Michael Goldman puts Enola, Anisha and Léa in their place
On May 3, 2022, great news was announced to TF1 viewers. After several years of absence, the show Star Academy has made a comeback, to the delight of fans of the program. The castle opened its doors to 13 candidates on October 15th. This Saturday, October 22, the first playoff bonus was broadcast. The 13 new students put on a string of performances and a trio was particularly noticed. This one was composed of Léa, Anisha and Enola. The young women interpreted the title I'll Never Love Again by Lady Gaga. Very satisfied with themselves, the three candidates praised their performance. "I felt like Celine Dion“, affirmed Enola. For her part, Léa imagined herself to be Beyoncé and Anisha had opted for Lara Fabian. Comparisons which immediately made Michael Goldman react. The new director was not very amused and he wished to make them come back down. "My nature at this stage would be to say bravo to them because the painting was magnificent and the performance was very good, but the truth is that, all the same, we are not yet at the level of Celine Dion, Lara Fabian and Beyoncé", he declared, without mincing his words. "Back to reality", continued Nikos Aliagas before giving the floor to the director. "Well, the school is for that so I hope that they will have this level in a month,“ he assured then….
---------------------------
There are other articles that indicate the judges and others associated with the program are much harsher on this version than they were in Quebec (e.g., www.closermag.fr/people/pas-fan-d-enola-une-ancienne-candidate-emblematique-de-la-star-ac-pas-tendre-avec-la-jeune-femme-1663497). Perhaps it’s a good thing Lara wasn’t available…
Interesting pictures/videos of the week:
Nikos Aliagas, mentioned in the article above, had just spent time with Lara on the recent show “50’ inside”, so his ‘back to reality’ comment had special personal significance for him. Lara Fabian The Netherlands FB site posted a nice set of pictures of her (and him) from that show, at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=544005717732823&set=pcb.544009041065824
(Subsequently they added a number of additional photos…)
[NB: Obviously the video of this show ppsted by Lara The Ring Fabian and linked to in last week’s News Update was not 50 minutes… apparently the full-length show will be broadcast in December].
The Lara Fabian Tribute Channel posted a video with pictures of Lara, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBbb9sfeUMk
What makes this somewhat unique is that for background they use Lara’s song “One” – which some viewers were not familiar with. That’s because it is from the ‘Lockdown Sessions’, another example of songs that Lara could access if she wanted to do a concert with newer items. And get reaction videos for more recent appearances.
And the Lara Fabian - L'étoile des anges FB site linked to a few ‘end of tour’ pictures from Manu Pitois ((as did the Lara Fabian America FB site), at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10225396356629338&set=pcb.10225396672557236
It remains to be seen how long it will be before another tour occurs…Lara has previously indicated that her preference going forward would be to avoid such a schedule, and instead give concerts in some selected cities. But her opinion about that may well change.
Lara presumably spent time with her family this past week. What follows next so far appears to be unscripted, at least publicly. There is a future album she has occasionally spoken about, as well as her intended new ‘school’ for aspiring singers and others…but these would appear to be somewhat long-term projects. We’ll see if anything pops up – Lara has a knack for being in the news. Stay safe everybody,
David
