The big news this past week, of course, was the opening of Lara’s European tour, starting with Charleroi (9/29, Tours (9/30), and Le Mans (10/1). [Even though the first Paris concert at the Olympia actually took place last night, we’ll cover it along with the second one in next week’s update].
In the 1 hour, 45 minute show, Lara, as can be heard, was in good voice, with quite enthusiastic audiences, happy to see her again after all this time. Her outfit, as shown in the videos, and below, thanks to the Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site at
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=634482321379906&set=pcb.634482394713232
is not the fancy dresses of the TV shows, nor the pants suits of tours of old, but a practical compromise, allowing her to move around with comfort – and at the same time, showing her legs (!).
Setlist: It looks like it was pretty much the same as in the Canadian concerts, in spite of indications that those shows were having a more Quebec orientation (e.g., the early Quebec song medley; Je me souviens). Perhaps it was because of limitations of Lara’s schedule. If one desires to change the setlist in an on-going concert tour (the Canadian shows were also part of the ‘Best of’ tour) union rules state there have to be a certain number of days of rehearsals allotted before the change. Given Lara’s vacation and then her book promotion schedule, there may not have been time for those rehearsals. Or maybe she liked the way the earlier shows went, and decided not to make any alteration.
The Le Mans show did have a change – Lara sang Adagio in Italian, although it was not on the setlist (and Broken Vow was not sung, as noted by Lara the Ring Fabian).
There are various videos available from: Charerloi [9/29] , Tours [9/30], Le Mans [10/1]….Since they are predominantly being posted by a few people, the following links are to their respective video pages on youtube. Shown is the date of the show and the number of such videos (as of the time of this writing, and not counting anything from last night's Paris show); not all the videos are complete.

Of particular note is the 41 minute video provided by Lara The Ring Fabian (she did not film it) from Le Mans, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrXlYz-OAQI
Included is Lara’s singing of Adagio in Italian – done magnificently.
There are a few pictures of the show taken by Manu Pitois (as posted on the Lara Fabian - L'étoile des anges site)
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10225069936469038&set=pcb.10225069959589616; more pictures are linked to in the ‘interesting pictures’ section of the Update.
For those who care to subscribe to these respective publications: there is a review of the Le Mans concert at (https://www.ouest-france.fr/pays-de-la-loire/le-mans-72000/lara-fabian-au-mans-un-voyage-a-travers-ses-succes-c85b50b6-4230-11ed-97a9-43878957580e); an interview with Lara at (https://www.ouest-france.fr/pays-de-la-loire/le-mans-72000/le-mans-lara-fabian-en-concert-le-samedi-1er-octobre-997669d0-3f3c-11ed-a504-b52d0d21afb7); one at (https://www.midilibre.fr/2022/09/22/musique-livre-cinema-television-lara-fabian-se-confie-avant-de-chanter-a-montpellier-en-octobre-10560131.php); and a more general article at www.dna.fr/culture-loisirs/2022/10/02/lara-fabian-artiste-comblee. In what can be seen without subscribing, Lara refers to the choice of songs as representing her career arc – although, as we know from the setlist, it underplays the latter portion of her ‘oeuvre’…
At the end of the performance in Charleroi, Lara added the following Instagram post to her site,
with the comment, “Thank you Charleroi for your welcome last night... this Best OF tour premiere with you, on my Belgium soil, warmed my heart... I continue the journey toward each of you.... So happy to find you once again” 🎵🎤❤️🤍💋
And then, a few days later, just before the big shows in Paris, there was this provocative photo,
or
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=680975543386742&set=a.259330805551220
And the caption, “Kisses for you, Preparing for tonight and tomorrow's shows at @olympiahall 🎶🎤 before continuing the road to Strasbourg, Annecy, Geneva, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier and Le Cannet 💕”.
These two Instagram posts would seem to encompass all the clothing Lara could be wearing….
Then there was the Best of World Tour merchandising. Such items were not generally available during Lara’s recent tours, but in this case there was plenty of time to get them prepared. From the Lara Fabian est ton autre site:
www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=634484534713018&set=pcb.634484684713003
the picture obviously shows:
Program (15 euros)
Cup or mug (15 euros)
CD Live (20euros)
T Shirt (25 euros)
Cushion (25 euros)
---------------------------------
Whole Package (50 euros)
Of course, the most intriguing item is the CD; as Sophie Horn on the site explains, this is from the concert she did in Montreal, captured and put together by the Montreal team. Looks like it will only be available on the tour, at least so far (true for the other items as well, but they, at least, may likely appear eventually on her URL shop) [and, remember there’s always ebay… . ]
In other news, Lara attended a fashion show over the weekend – and looked like one of the models as well - as shown in this video from her Instagram site, at
Her accompanying text read, “Congratulations @lorealparis for this wonderful parade last night 👏👏 Happy to have attended this Fashion Show accompanied by my @thierry_martino And a big thank you to my beautiful @evalongoria for this invitation that honors me 🤍 Always a pleasure to see you 🤍 You are an angel 💕 💋”
A general article about this appears at (https://www.public.fr/Toutes-les-photos/Dadju-Lara-Fabian-Naomi-Campbell-Eva-Longoria-Decouvrez-le-parterre-de-stars-impressionnant-du-defile-L-Oreal-Paris-1744266). As one can see from the link, it included Lara in the list of stars attending, and noted some of them also paraded around on the podium – we see from the Instagram video above, that included Lara!
And then there was a more specific article about her, at (https://www.noovomoi.ca/en-vedette/lara-fabian-sensationnelle-petite-robe-blanche-paris.html):

Sensational Lara Fabian in a little white dress and tights in Paris
Lara Fabian made a remarkable appearance at the L'Oréal show at Paris Fashion Week this Sunday.
Invited by her great friend Eva Longoria , the diva looked sensational in a white mini dress and a black corset.
Here are the images of the star during this prestigious event:
The diva, who is currently in France for a series of concerts , also shared behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the memorable evening to her 494,000 followers.
----------------------------
The article contains a number of nice photos (some of which are shown below in the 'pictures' section). Ads to where they got that specific number of followers...Lara's FB site has 1.5 million...
On another topic, there are a number of articles on the web discussing revelations that Lara provides in her book; they will not be reviewed here, since we've gone through all of them already, but the reactions of the article writers borders on the incredulous that Lara would be making such things public. As we said at the time: more power to her.
In that respect, here is the interview with Lara about her new book from Tele7 Jours that was referred to in last week’s Update:
-----------------
Lara Fabian behind the stove: her amazing new project!
The singer who is preparing a new tour, is releasing a daring book, between confidences and recipes!
How did you feel about writing this book?
Lara Fabian: Diving into old memories related to the table was a great moment of happiness. I was able to remember many events, sometimes even buried…. To see myself again in contexts of great encounters, great victories and also of consolation.
Why go through the kitchen to tell about you?
LF: Probably because food is a fundamental part of my upbringing, my journey and my life.
What memorable moments have happened around a table for you?
LF: I can say without any hesitation that most of the important moments, the great crossroads of my existence have all been celebrated, signed or materialized around a table!
What's great about your book is that you show that a simple omelette, shared with the right people, can take on another face...
LF: It's true. For me, a simple omelet can take on the air of a gala when the intention with which you cook it is pure and sincere. The goal is not to impress but to share.
Tastes and smells could inspire you songs?
LF: I would say that it is rather the emotions experienced and felt around its tastes and smells that made it.
Have you passed on your passion for eating well to your daughter?
LF: Definitively ! Lou is a "gourmet gourmet" and truly a generous cook.
It seems that she has a crazy talent for pastry and Japanese cuisine...
LF: Indeed, she can spend hours designing and creating Asian cuisine from traditional recipes by putting her own touch to them in order to revisit them in her own way. For the pastry she has not ceased to impress me since she was 7 years old…
Gastronomically speaking, you are unhappy on tour or on the contrary, you take advantage to discover good addresses?
LF: Touring is for me a world apart in which the only function of the table is to feed me in order to make me work efficiently. I therefore reserve the moments of great discoveries for other areas of my life, when I am freed from certain obligations and constraints.
You, who are the director of Star Academy in Quebec, have you been approached for the return of the program to France?
LF: I know many have speculated in the media. But given the various obligations that I had already contracted, in particular with my tour, I unfortunately could not commit myself. Star Academy is a magnificent franchise and after thirty years of career, the idea of passing on the keys to this profession to the youngest is for me a sincere desire. I would have loved to participate.

The film Arlette, which Lara appears in, is now on display at FIFF Namur - 37th International Francophone Film Festival (9/30 to 10/7). We’ll see if Lara gets any press over her ‘nue appearance’ in it .
