This past week Lara posted various new Instagram pictures, first one with Guylaine Tremblay, the Canadian actress/comedian, at
along with the caption “Magnificent and immense Guylaine, I publish this photo again, a few days after seeing you on stage... I am still breathless. I wish that we will always meet somewhere...@guylainetremblay”
The stage performance Lara referred to was also attended by a number of other celebrities, as noted in this article (https://www.spamchronicles.com/10-quebec-stars-on-the-red-carpet-of-guylaine-tremblays-show/):
-------------------------------
10 Quebec stars on the red carpet of Guylaine Tremblay’s show
Guylaine Tremblay presented her show on Friday evening I don’t know how, I don’t know why as a tribute to her idol Yvon Deschamps.
For the occasion, many Québec stars came to encourage her at the Maisonneuve Theater on Montreal’s Place des Arts while showing her off on the red carpet.
[And then they go on to show who came, including a nice picture of Lara (at #7)].
----------------------------------
Of course, Guylaine Tremblay held a ‘professorship’ this year on the Star Academie, making it her mission to "guide the candidates to have more interpretation in their performances".
Then Lara posted a past picture of herself with her parents:
And the heartfelt caption, "I miss you so much…"
While her mother died in March 2019, she will get a chance to see her father in the coming months...
And that leads into the main story of the week, Lara’s interview in 7 Jours magazine. [Thanks to Lara Fabian the Netherlands and then various other FB sites for the scans].

First the cover:

with the legend, “The Magnificent Summer of Lara Fabian”
I’m going to take a road trip with my father and my daughter.
Then the article:
Lara Fabian "I feel the need to go back to my roots
As an adult, having the opportunity to spend time with one of your parents is a real privilege. After several months of work, Fabian travels to Belgium with her daughter, Lou, to see her 80 year old father. This will give rise to a beautiful reunion of the three generations of the family, united by such strong ties. The trio will embark on a journey through Europe according to the impulses of each. But before flying to the old continent, the singer-songwriter will complete what she calls the tail end of her 50 World Tour, which has turned into the Best of World Tour. So, for our greatest happiness, the artist will soon perform in Montreal, Très-Riveres and Quebec.
Lara, you have a lot of concrete work to do in the coming weeks. Are you excited to reconnect with the Quebec audience?
LF: Yes. This is what I call the tail end of this tour that was originally named 50 World Tour, but that we transformed because we couldn't continue it due to circumstances. The 'Best of World Tour' is a musical recital of what my journey and life was like until to now. With Joel Legendre we have redesigned the production. I am lucky to be able to count on the participation of the Riverin sisters (Karine, Marie-Eve and Caroline, who act as chorus members). Being in front of her audience is probably the most beautiful thing an artist can live after these two horrific years. So yes, I'm very happy to be able to go and reconnect to my art, and I hope that all the joy that I'm experiencing will be felt by the people who will be in the audience.
It's been a busy winter, especially with your role as director of the Academy. Will you have a summer that will allow you to relax a bit?
LF: I have a great summer planned, as I will be going back to Belgium to visit my dad. I'm going to sit in my car and travel with him, we're going to do a little road trip for the three of us, my father, my daughter and me.
What a wonderful project!
LF: This is something I did with my mother. We had traveled through Tuscany together, she and I. This time, I plan to pick up my daddy, put him in my car and see another part of Italy with him. It will be so nice to spend time together...
As adults, it's rare that you get to spend so much time with your father or mother. It's a great privilege that you're going to enjoy, I guess?
LF: Yes, I am aware that time is running out, so I see this opportunity as a great privilege. It's a great opportunity. After all, when you think about it, you never know when our big departure will be, so I take advantage of it and give thanks for this chance we have.
Has it been a long time since you've seen your father?
LF: I saw him briefly this winter, but this summer I'll be able to spend some time with him, as I plan to spend three months with him. It will be wonderful to be able to experience that with my father.
When you are in Belgium, do you plan to live in your family home?
LF: Probably, but you know, the family house is very small... It's a small apartment where dad is well accommodated. I guess my daughter and I will be tourists. We were going to rent something. We plan to live one day at a time, happily and lightly, according to my desires.
How did your daddy take the news that you were coming to his house to spend so much time together?
LF: He is so happy that he told me that he counts the sleeps!
And your daughter, how does she see this adventure as a family?
LF: My dad is her grandpa, and he's the only grandpa she has left, so this is the perfect time for me to go and meet him so my daughter can make memories with her 80-year-old grandpa. With all that's going on on this planet, you never know how much time you have left...You have to take advantage of all these great opportunities.
Besides the distance between Europe and America, the pandemic also kept you away for a long time, didn't it?
LF: Yes. I feel that, for my daughter, it is more important than ever. I believe that one of the most important things is to take the time to share moments that will form memories, that will create the library of our memory and the richness of our lives.
Lou is at an age where this time with her grandfather will stay with her for the rest of his life.
LF: Absolutely! I truly believe. She is very much looking forward to this beautiful adventure.
Will your lover join you on this journey?
LF: No, as he has been away from his family for the last two years, he will spend time with his family. After my trip, we will meet again in our house in Sicily.
I guess it will do you a lot of good to have some time just for yourself and to enjoy life without a schedule...
LF: Yes, because it is a freedom that I have rarely taken in my life. not knowing what the next day will be like in the very basic, simple sense of daily life, it is still nice. The last 20 years of my life have always been subject to very defined schedules. The fact that I can leave with my dad and my daughter and stay in different places day after day is a great gift...
For your father to be able to undertake a trip like this, I assume that his health is good...
LF: Yes, dad's health is good. It must be said that when you have a project like this one, it triggers a lot of enthusiasm and joy. It seems that my father's strength increases tenfold!
You have been living in Quebec for a few years. Do you ever miss your roots?
LF: A lot. It's strange, but it's as if I feel a deep call on that level. I feel it's time to go back, at least for a while, to my roots, to the place of my birth. I viscerally need it.
Have you already established some destinations that you feel are a must and that you want to visit with your family?
LF: As I said before, I plan to go to my mother's country: Italy. And strangely enough, I would like to see the North Sea. I told my father that we could go to Knokke (in Belgium) to eat tomatoes and shrimps from the North Sea. We can drink a wonderful cherry beer. Then we will take the car and drive through Luxembourg and Switzerland, and then back to Italy. We will be able to rest at the border of Italy. We will go and see the lakes. We will go down in the region and we will visit the Lake Maggiore, the Lake of Como, etc. We have family in the area. We will go to Florence, then we will go to Rome. We will go down to my mother's country, that is Sicily.
Did your daughter have any specific requests? Did she want to visit certain countries in Europe?
LF: Not really. At 14 years old, my daughter is going to live an initiatory trip. She has no other desire than to live this trip with her mother and grandfather. We will have the happiness to be together, it is already a lot.
Because of the war in Ukraine, many people hesitate to travel to the old continent. Do you feel any anxiety about traveling to Europe now?
LF: Not really. I think we all have a star and a destiny. At some point, you have to stop living in fear; you have to live! So no, it doesn't worry me at all.
Besides your shows in Quebec, do you have other professional projects on the agenda?
LF: Yes. In the fall, I plan to resume my European tour. I have several cities on the agenda. I will also be launching my book in Europe (NRDL: The beautiful book 'Je passe a table', which she presented to us last fall). I also plan to start writing a new album.
For a few years now, you've wanted to start your own singing school. Where are you with this project?
LF: Setting up my school is really one of my big projects, and I still have it in mind. I will define the contours of this school once I have finished all the projects I already have on the schedule in the fall. To be continued...
Lara Fabian will be in concert in Quebec on June 14, 15 and 16 at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier in Montreal; on June 18 at the Amphitheatre Cogeco in Trois-Rivières; and on June 21 at the Centre Videotron in Quebec. Tickets can be purchased by visiting her website: larafabian.com. In the fall, the singer will continue the European portion of her tour in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Hungary, Serbia and Estonia. It is also during this period that she will launch, in Europe, her gourmet biography entitled 'Je passe a table', published by Libre Expression and still available here in bookstores.
----------------------------------------------
While all of this is interesting, some points to note particularly:
**We wondered why the European edition of ‘Je passe a table’ was only going to be ready for distribution only in the fall, when it was forecast for early this year. The obvious answer is that Lara will be in Europe in the fall to promote it.
**Lara will not be actively involved in the ‘singing school’ until after all her concert commitments are over (November at the earliest). And only then will she begin working on the contours of it. Pierre Yves Duchesne gave the impression that all of this was more imminent.
**Similarly, she said that she plans to "start writing a new album" after the concert tour, whereas one had the impression she had already been doing so. In both these cases, perhaps one should not take her comments too literally...
**Being away from her husband for three months is a LONG time…
**And being away on vacation for three months is also a long time for her as a professional artist; one wonders how much interaction Lara will have with her audience, given that she seems to be very happy contemplating having no defined schedule or, it seems, professional responsibility.
**If she is to be away for three months, considering that her European concerts start at the end of September, she will have to leave right after the concert in Quebec City.
**We had wondered whether Lara would move back permanently to be with her father, now that her professional obligations in Quebec are over. She said that "it's time to go back, at least for a while, to my roots". Perhaps this trip will satisfy her, although perhaps not...
As to what Lara is doing now, Pierre Yves Duchesne wrote: Work has resumed. My singer is in voice, ready for the 2200 spectators who are waiting for her on her 5 dates in Canada. I am very proud and very happy. The rehearsals with Lara Fabian continue...” Associated with this is a picture that would surely quality as one of the most interesting of the week,

And two more from Lara on Instagram (Lara seems to have abandoned her Facebook page for the last month):
with the joking caption, “Who is this? 😂 I share with you some of my childhood smiles”, a follow-up to last week’s appreciation of mothers and children. And then, her ‘other child’,
with the caption, “Kayla, what beauty ..... and this human look ....”
It does raise the question, what will happen to Kayla for the three months that Lara and Gabrielle are to be away? Difficult to bring an animal to another country, and it’s pretty certain that Kayla will not be with Lara…Kayla in the past has been boarded when they were away, and as she is a 'service dog', so she may be 'in use'.
Lara’s concerts in Quebec are now less than two weeks away, and that will provide 'news' for several weeks. Once she leaves for Europe, we’ll see whether she has any inclination to keep in touch with her audience. ‘Vacation photos’ would always work… …at least to keep her in the eye of her fans. Regardless of how much she wants to get away completely, there is a need to have some public exposure for the sake of populating the halls for her European concerts. The summer has always been an ‘off season’ for Lara and many other artists; being away on vacation for three months will likely extend and amplify it.
Stay safe everybody,
David
