Lara is presumably still in rehearsals for her upcoming June concerts in Quebec, so once again she has had no interactions on social media. The primary news concerning Lara on the Internet (including youtube) are many more of the ‘reaction’ videos to her singing her classic songs, and advertisements for her fall concerts, primarily in France and eastern Europe.
One bit of news: the Lara Fabian est ton autre FB site reported that “Lara Fabian will be one of the guests of the third season of " "L'autre midi à la table d'à côté",", on ICI TÉLÉ .
She will be on next July 3 at the table in front of Marie Laberge, novelist, actress and director from Quebec. The appointment is made😀”.
The show has already been recorded; a video of some of their guests can be found at
www.facebook.com/iciradiocanadatele/videos/565058024978609
and Lara appears primarily at about the 1:25 mark. As this is following her June concerts, there is no guarantee that Lara will still be in the country at the time of its airing.
Given the lack of current events, the Lara Fabian Lockdown Sessions FB site posted the link to an article from last November in Virage magazine (https://www.viragemagazine.com/la-vie-selon-lara/?fbclid=IwAR2D7QnZBXtG3JLooWKWzAz_85vk13pf7hpMq0G5qMK38I3k4dk4RbyPWss). Here’s the translation; the first portion was provided by the Lara Fabian the Netherlands FB site, with minor alterations:
------------------------------------
Life According to Lara
Lara Fabian is much more than a single voice. The worldview of the singer-songwriter, also director of Star Academie, also sets her apart. Incursion into her universe, where age doesn't matter and where preconceived ideas have no right to be quoted.
"I can be both naive and childish, serious and wise, or carefree like a teenager. I have all these stages of life in me. Of course, my body is starting to get a little mileage and sometimes my back hurts. But my soul, my spirit, my way of seeing life has no age", confides the one to whom we owe several songs that have stood the test of time, such as "Je t’aime".
She is against "all beliefs that divide things into what is right or wrong, true or false. Me, I put a big kick in it. We are too programmed, for example, to believe that 50 is a milestone, that at 70 we are too old for this or that."
According to her, there is no doubt that we must stop thinking that the worst is going to happen and instead believe that the best is still possible. "There is a golden thread in us that we can reconnect to and from which all possibilities are glorious. It's a matter of trust", says Lara, in a philosophical impulse that she surprises herself with.
30 years of career in Quebec
Just 30 years after the release in Quebec of the album Lara Fabian, which propelled her career, the singer born of a Belgian father and an Italian mother still cherishes Quebec in her heart.
"Quebec is one of the lives in my life. A bit like choosing your friends and not your family, Quebec gives me the feeling of having chosen a place and, in return, of having been chosen by that place.
Star Academie...and a great tour
The year 2022 is going to be a great year for Lara. On the one hand, she will once again occupy the seat of director of Star Acadmie. She doesn't hide it, it's one of her best professional experiences. This role allows her to concretize a deep desire, close to her vocation. "Day after day, I am in front of people whose lives I can change by my actions and my words. This gives me joy."
On the other hand, due to the pandemic, it is also in 2022 that Lara Fabian will start the 50 World Tour, which will take her to France and several European cities, after kicking off in Montreal and Quebec in June.
"It's a shame to do this tour for my 50th birthday...at 52! We have to reorganize everything. But it's an opportunity to ask myself some fundamental questions again: what is? what do I want? and what am I doing? In the end, the answer is often to reinvent myself."
Christmas, Lara style
With the holiday season approaching and the publication of the book Je passe a table, in which stories and recipes are intertwined, we are curious to know how Christmas is spent under her roof.
"I have a vision of the holiday that doesn't wait for a date. Of course, the menu will be more traditional on this occasion and we may be more numerous, if life allows it. But I have to say that there are often tables at our house on a simple Sunday night that give the impression of a festive time."
For Christmas, Lara will prepare Sicilian dishes such as baccala (cod) meatballs and polpettone (minced meatballs stuffed with herbs, cheese, peas and hard-boiled eggs) with rosemary potatoes. These comforting and fragrant dishes will have the effect on the household of a big hug from Lara's mother, the most beautiful of gifts.
[And this was then followed by a review of Lara’s book, Je passe a table]:
For The Love of the Table
How can we tell our story other than through a biography? For Lara Fabian, "it could only be through the space of the table, which for me is very important". The idea germinated, then matured, until the recent birth of Je passe a table (Libre Expression).
Generous in archival and atmospheric photos, this beautiful book is a tour of her world. Each slice of life, told in an intimate way, is linked to recipes that are comforting and dear to the artist's heart.
Fans will be happy to know that a second volume is already in the works.
"I am the 5th generation of women who pass on culture and love through the table. Even if I stay up a little later the night before, I'm very forward-thinking about our family dinners, for three, four if you count our little dog Kayla," says Lara.
At only 13 years old, her daughter Lou is already the proud 6th generation of the family line. "My daughter is really good at all Asian food, especially Japanese. And she has a sense of beauty, it's crazy. My husband warned her that when I was away, she would be the one cooking!"
----------------------------
While the interview is six months old, several points stand out: that Lara’s back still hurts her at times (remember the great problem she had with it discussed in ‘Je passe a table’); and that another volume of ‘Je passe a table’ is already in the works (which Lara has elsewhere suggested would be possible).
Interesting photo(s) of the week: from the larafabian_fanpage_ Instagram site, a whole host of facial expressions:
And speaking of reaction videos (as we were at the beginning): some even do whole concerts of Lara’s. A case in point, Rollen Green with a six part reaction video assessment of Lara’s live Nue concert, with videos found at
www.youtube.com/user/ranjersay
Given that some of these performances are more than 20 years old, It's possible that long after Lara has stopped singing actively, these reaction videos will continue to bring her to people’s attention…
One point, which we haven’t commented on previously, is that in the last year there has been a significant erosion of the number of active fan sites for Lara. Undoubtedly this is related to (1) her lack of touring due to the pandemic; (2) her lack of a new, actively promoted CD; and (3) her focus being on a TV program that’s not readily available outside of Canada. Even a number of the sites that still exist post only very sporadically. We’ll see if this revives when her concert tour does or when she releases the new CD she is apparently working on.
Stay safe everybody,
David
