We have an idea of what Lara’s activities were this past week, from the following picture (at www.facebook.com/soeursriverin):

The Riverin sisters are of course Lara’s backup chorus for her 'world tour' concerts, having played that role in the ’50 World Tour’ several years ago. BTW, a nice picture of them can be found at

Lara herself didn’t mention anything about this (or anything else) on her social media sites, but we know the concerts in Quebec are due to start in less than a month. She has three concerts in Montreal, June 14-16 (all sold out), in Quebec City on June 21, for which some tickets are still available in the far balcony, mostly along the sides; and a new date in Three Rivers (June 18), in which many balcony seats are still available. One would imagine she has some work to do in publicizing that one.
It’s a bit of an odd situation for her; she has to rehearse and bring the ‘Best of’ tour up to speed for these five concerts, and then put it on pause until her next concert in Charleroi (Belgium) on September 29th. Nevertheless, Lara’s already said that many of the songs will be the same as in the previous concerts - so ‘rehearsals’ will be mostly re-familiarizing the team with what they’ve already done numerous times, though she has said there will be some changes. And her ‘patter’ will likely be quite different, less ‘birthday’ oriented, which perhaps may mean less of a trip down her personal family memory lane, and more about the ‘best of’ songs themselves – that of course is speculation.
Otherwise, there is little in the way of ‘news’, that being left to the initiative of ‘fan’ sites. Last week it was noted that Lara and Pierre Yves Duchesne will be opening a new school in Belgium, and perhaps elsewhere. In response, the ‘Lara Fabian - L'étoile des anges’ FB site reposted a ‘zoom-type’ discussion Lara had with him concerned with teaching singing. It occurred during the pandemic confinement - hence two years ago – and is available at
www.facebook.com/100063674018327/videos/1172206203111971
[It’s in French; this would be a good candidate for Lara The Ring Fabian to add subtitles to ]. Note that it is before Lara’s experiences with Star Academie, in which she really got to see the plus and minuses of interacting with students; at this time her experience was primarily associated with the La Voix/The Voice shows in Quebec and France.
With imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, Lara has had no shortage of imitators over the year. Yet another occasion to ‘play Lara’ will occur later this week in Paris; here’s the story (https://www-artistikrezo-com.translate.goog/agenda/madame-arthur-egosille-lara-fabian-du-19-au-21-mai.html?_x_tr_sl=fr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=op,sc):

Madame Arthur ‘shouts’ Lara Fabian from May 19 to 21
In 1978, her parents enrolled her at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where she studied opera singing and began to write short texts. At 14, her father allowed her to sing in a pub in Brussels, the Black Bottom, on condition that he accompany her on the guitar.
She performed in this way for a few years, won a few amateur competitions and was noticed by Hubert Terheggen, producer of RTL Luxembourg. The latter decides to select her for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988 to represent Luxembourg. She finished in fourth place, the competition was won by another future great voice, Celine Dion. It was in 1997 that the French public discovered her with the title “Je t'aime” from her third album, Pure .
On the program a new show, sung live, sprinkled with glitter and bursts of laughter. See you in our historic cabaret in Montmartre!
---------------------------------
According to Wikipedia, “Madame Arthur is a drag cabaret venue in the Rue des Martyrs, 18th arrondissement of Paris. It is named after the synonymous song”. One gets an idea of the type of show it will be, as the word used in the title is ‘égosille’, which means ‘to shout oneself hoarse’. Once someone gets characterized, it’s hard to escape it, especially in Paris .
And with fan clubs ‘carrying the ball’, here are the interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week: first a nice group of pictures set to a remix of the song ‘Toute le femme en moi’ by the Lara Fabian Tribute channel, at
www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=EK3gnBGqBCc&ab_channel=LaraFabianTributeChannel
An ‘interesting’ drawing of Lara, posted by the ‘Lara Fabian je t’aime’ FB site, at

Lara The Ring Fabian posted a humorous video associated with Lara, called “Lara Being Herself’, with her usual English subtitles, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_0n5nYELm8&ab_channel=LaraTheRingFabian
Very true to its title!
The ‘Lara Fabian America’ site continued its practice of putting up ‘good morning’or ‘have a nice day’ pictures of Lara, and on the weekends, videos of Lara’s concerts. A recent, beautiful picture was
www.facebook.com/larafabianamerica/photos/a.390576794773579/1363556004142315/
and the last two concert videos were the Le Secret concert in Brussels from 9/20/2103 taken by Alena Zhdanova, at

and Un Regard Neuf (the official DVD video) from 2006, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4W2MSn1bgs
Despite one being professional and the other amateur, they both are of excellent quality.
Though we haven’t mentioned this previously, there are some nice (older) videos of Lara on TikTok, accessible at
www.tiktok.com/discover/jtaime-lara-fabian
Here’s what they say: “Discover short videos related to jtaime lara fabian on TikTok. Watch popular content from the following creators: POP MUSIC(@glebmail), Music(@music...1313), Ottanta90(@ottanta90), Omar louk(@omarlouk3), Helen(@mynostalgia80).”
Why should Lara be left off this popular social media outlet?
In that same regard, Lara has not made use of her Twitter channel in several years. Going there, one finds that it is active, and (oddly) concerned with Dimash Qudaibergen (the Kazakh singer whom Lara has sung with in association with Igor Krutoy); and, even more oddly, the site is primarily populated by Spanish speakers. In her recent interviews, while Lara confirmed that she is fluent in Spanish, she didn’t mention it when it came to thinking of writing songs in different languages.
We expect Lara will be continuing with rehearsals for the upcoming shows the next couple of weeks. Ultimately it will be interesting to hear if the shows in Quebec will have the same setlist as those in the fall in Europe. In the past she has occasionally made shows ‘Quebec-specific’, utilizing songs from her long-ago Quebec past (e.g., Tu t’en vas). She would have enough time between them to fulfill union rules about giving musicians sufficient opportunity to practice different songs for the two sets of ‘best of’ concerts. Also of interest is how they will change from the ’50 World Tour’; while the set lists will clearly be dominated by her ‘hits’, given that she has had several years to ‘reassess’, the less obvious titles may surprise us. Let’s hope so.
Stay safe everybody, David
