PHOTO Lara Fabian: at 52, she returns to this famous hair color and it's sublime
Each week, Lara Fabian appears more radiant than ever during the prime of the Quebec Star Academy. Crazy looks and super glamorous beauty, this time it's on her hair color that our eyes are riveted.
Every Sunday it's the same thing: Lara Fabian makes her appearance on the prime time of the Star Académie québécoise, for our greatest pleasure. And that of her many fans of course! It must be said that it is a very popular and well-watched show. The singer Lara Fabian does not hesitate to put the package, and so far: it's flawless! On the looks side, we could observe it with a short leather jacket and vintage jeans or even in a little short dress, perfect for all body types. What about beauty then? Nothing to say either about her make-up and hairstyles, always very neat. Last Sunday, we were able to notice a small hair change on the 52-year-old singer: she indeed reconnects with a famous hair color , and it is far from displeasing to us!
Lara Fabian: she changes her hair color and it's hot
We have to tell you, we are a huge fan of Lara Fabian and have been for many years. So when we learned that the French-speaking singer would once again be the director of the Star Académie québécoise, we were more than delighted. It's simple, we don't miss a single one of her performances, nor her Instagram posts. On her account, followed by more than 480,000 people, Lara Fabian does not hesitate to post photos of her looks as well as her beauty enhancements.
This is how we were able to discover in her last post dating from only a few hours ago, her new hair change . Do not expect a radical change so far: Lara Fabian has not opted for a pink or red coloring . Nevertheless, the 52-year-old singer again chooses a pretty blonde throughout her hair. Previously, Lara Fabian flaunted a pronounced balayage*, but still maintained exposed roots . This time she is going all out, as was already the case last fall.
A blonde and super bright color that has not failed to please its very committed community, if we are to believe the comments present under its publication: "The most beautiful" , "Magnificent" , "But what a bomb my Lara" . No doubt, for Lara Fabian it is unanimous!
---------------------------------
*Balayage is a French word that means “to sweep.” In this hair color technique, highlights are hand-painted or “swept” on the surface of random sections of hair. Dye or lightener is usually painted on, starting midshaft and becoming denser as it moves down the section of hair to the ends. [From www.johnfrieda.com/en-us/blog/blonde-hair/balayage-vs-highlights/]
As for the show itself: the variety presentations were, as usual, entertaining, but the competition had some major problems, and ended up quite controversial; to some, it will mar the rest of the season. Here are several articles, with, as usual, several different points of view:

A Surprising and Delightful Variety
The menu for the seventh Variety of “Star Académie”, this Sunday, was plentiful and enticing, and the line-up of numbers did indeed leave us completely sated, satisfied and happy, despite the surprising departure of Audrey-Louise Beauséjour, who obviously failed to convince the teachers or the public.
After an overture recorded at the Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal, Eloi had the heavy task of launching the number in homage to the repertoire of Gerry Boulet and the Offenbach group.
In addition to the intensity of Daniel Boucher, we will especially remember the duet between Julien and Claude Cobra, of Bleu Jeans Bleu, on “Seulement pour une aventure” in a confessional atmosphere.
Olivier did not suffer from the comparison on the song "Le chant de la douleur" against Dan Bigras, Sarah-Maude and Lulu Hughes then engaged in a hot struggle of power and beauty on "Câline de blues".
Faced with Breen Leboeuf, Audrey-Louise was able to find her place on “Mes blues passent pu dans porte”, before attending a grandiose final in the company of all the guests and the Academicians on “Promenade sur mars”. As much for the atmosphere as for the vocal performances, this number will remain as one of the magnificent moments that we will remember from this season.
Lulu Hughes had agreed to replace Brigitte Boisjoli, absent due to loss of voice.
Put in danger
It was by honoring his native Magdalen Islands that Eloi Cummings tried to keep his place at the Academy. He beautifully performed “La ballade d’Irving Whale” by Zachary Richard, in which he proudly assumed his origins. A very beautiful interpretation.
Audrey-Louise Beauséjour did not choose an easy path by deciding to sing “L’amour existe encore” to stand out this Sunday. Her performance seems to have dazzled Marc Dupré who told her she had performed well. His comment was confirmed by Gregory Charles. "Extreme level of difficulty, and spectacular performance," said the teacher, concluding that even Celine Dion would probably have stood up to applaud Audrey-Louise.
With "I Won't Let Go", by Rascal Flatts, Krystel Mongeau chose a lesser-known song in English to try to convince the public and the teachers, but the text spoke to her a lot. Her interpretation was relatively felt. “Well done, it was wonderful. You are splendid, in addition to being exceptional”, said Lara Fabian, after doing a dance of joy.
Cabaret
Pierre Lapointe is a magician. With few resources, he managed to recreate the atmosphere of a jazzy retro cabaret where the refrains of the great pop hits of the 1980s and 90s resounded. In front of a red curtain, the Academicians took up "T’es dans la lune", "Danser pour danser" or "Dors Caroline", rearranged in a jazz style. The Urban Science Brass Band finally hit the stage as Eloi kicked off “Voyager sans toi”. The finale, with Jérémy and Marily on “Tourne la page”, was magnificent. The guest art director did a great job which brought a lot of energy and fun.
Surprises
The production had reserved a big surprise for Camélia, since she saw her father, Abderrahim Zaki, arrive live on the set of "Star Académie". Father and daughter had not seen and hugged each other for nearly two years. “It's the most beautiful surprise I can have, she exclaimed, crying with joy. I was hoping he could experience the adventure with me." Her father should also go to visit the Academy of Waterloo, this Monday.
The joyful and uninhibited universe of Quebecer Jay Scøtt brought a wind of tangy colors with his songs “Broken” and “Copilote”, on which Fouki made a surprise arrival. The Academicians seemed relaxed and happy to participate in this very refreshing number.
Country version
Guylaine Tanguay recently released an album of country versions of Ginette Reno's greatest hits. "Des croissants de soleil”, “J’ai besoin d’un ami”, “Un peu plus haut" resonate differently in our ears with new arrangements, and with the twin voices of the Academicians and Guylaine Tanguay.
Eloi worked hard throughout the week, the public could see it and voted en masse to keep him at the Academy.
“You are two exceptional women and two great singers, explained Guylaine Tremblay, a few minutes later. But based on tonight's performance, we chose to protect Krystel."
FLAWLESS FOR OLIVIER
Eloi said he worked a lot during the last week, and the result was evident this Sunday. Another Academician spent a lot of time perfecting his interpretation, his diction, his breathing, and working on his challenges. Olivier showed that he too had made a lot of progress. He was of exemplary mastery and accuracy throughout the Variety. In a duet with Dan Bigras on “Le chant de la douleur”, we felt he was solid and totally in his place. Despite their differences in age and experience, he came through with ease. Later, during the number created by Pierre Lapointe, he easily found his place in the duet with Sarah-Maude on the song "T'es dans la lune". If he vocally ensured each of his appearances, we also saw him move with agility.
JULIEN'S GROOVE
More discreet in daily life since the departure of Mathieu, Julien has obviously taken his wanders to go to the Academy, which risks taking him very far. In duet with Claude Cobra in the tribute to Gerry, he really made the evening take off. The groove in his voice acclimatized very well to the atmosphere of the number. More sober in his attitude, he especially shone with his vocal presence. We were also able to appreciate the full extent of his talent during his cover of "Incognito", a good idea from Pierre Lapointe to have entrusted him with the mandate to reinterpret Celine Dion in a jazz version. Versatile, he also integrated easily into the world of Jay Scøtt. Despite his obvious talent, Julien would have to be put in danger just to have the pleasure of hearing him solo.

Shock departure from Star Académie
Some say Star Académie teachers shot themselves in the foot this week by endangering Éloi, Audrey-Louise and Krystel. Sunday evening, at the end of this seventh Variety, Quebec was flabbergasted to see Audrey-Louise leave.
The choice was heartbreaking and much less predictable than last week. Guylaine Tremblay claimed to be under the spell of Éloi – like the whole province for that matter – Gregory Charles described Audrey-Louise's performance as spectacular and Lara Fabian jumped for joy, she was so proud of Krystel.
In the end, you have to eliminate one of them. Because it has to, because the show goes on.
But what holds the attention, Sunday, it is the departure of Audrey-Louise.
The performances of candidates at risk
There are candidates much worse than Éloi, Audrey-Louise and Krystel, which is a shame since they are still in the game. Their endangerment has raised several questions this week.
Proud Madelinot, Éloi told his patriotic story through La ballade d’Irving Whale by Zachary Richard. Well anchored with his guitar, he has shown that he has his place in show business, he who exudes immense maturity in his voice. The 16-year-old youngest academic received the most votes from the public on Sunday.
The very gifted Audrey-Louise tackled the difficult song L’amour existe encore. In these trying times, the lyrics resonated as did the 23-year-old's incredible voice. She showed her colors by not distorting Celine Dion's version. Powerful and moving, there is no doubt that we will see her again soon.
Krystel put her heart and guts on the table in a solid performance of I won't let go by Rascall Flatts. She managed to put technique aside and trust herself. She was touching and beautiful, as she has managed to do since the start of the season. For her performance, the faculty decided to protect her.
A remarkable variety
If we forget for a moment the incomprehension faced with the departure of Audrey-Louise, this Variety was remarkable from start to finish. The academicians are (finally) beginning to demonstrate the pleasure they have of being on stage together.
The evening began with a powerful tribute to Gerry Boulet. In a somewhat dubious church setting, Daniel Boucher, Dan Bigras, Breen Leboeuf, Lulu Hughes and Claude Cobra celebrated the Quebec rocker's greatest hits.
Olivier was excellent under the watchful eye of Dan Bigras and Krystel's backing vocals. Sarah-Maude has also distinguished herself alongside the blues of Lulu Hughes. We almost thought we were at the Show du Refuge by Dan Bigras. It was by far one of the most successful numbers of the 2022 season.
The number imagined by Pierre Lapointe was also grandiose. Composed of a Quebec pop repertoire from the 1980s and 1990s with excellent jazz arrangements, we were transported to Pierre Lapointe's cabaret. With reinvented hits like Pourquoi es-tu dans la lune? Danser pour danser, Dors Caroline and Incognito, numbers like this we would take even more.
The colorful Jay Scott also came for a very (too) short visit. Comfortably installed on the stage of the Mels studio as in his living room, he presented only two songs in which the academicians were not very present. His happy musical blend of pop, hip-hop and ska still made people dream of sunshine and warmth.
Guylaine Tanguay closed the Variété with the songs of Ginette Reno which she interprets in her own way with country flavors. Krystel particularly shone during J’ai besoin d’un ami showing great complicity with the guest performer.
Until the very end, the academicians will have offered a high caliber show, the best since the beginning.
Next week Coeur de Pirate and Daniel Lavoie will be among the guests. We also promise a sugar shack number. Choreographer and director Lydia Bouchard will also present a number as guest artistic director.
--------------------------------------------
The whole set-up, with three high-level performers at risk at the mid-point of the season, came under criticism, as did the result, as shown in the following articles; first, (https://showbizz.net/tele/une-choix-deconcertant-des-professeurs-le-public-de-star-academie-est-rogne):

A disconcerting choice of teachers: The public of Star Académie is pissed off
A lot of tension on social networks on this Sunday evening!
We were all on the edge of our seat this Sunday when the three most promising academicians were in danger.
We had no idea who would be eliminated, but everyone expected Audrey-Louise to stay in the competition one way or another.
Well, we were all wrong. After Éloi was saved by the public, the teachers chose to keep Krystel in the adventure.
On social networks, it was the most total incomprehension. No one saw the blow coming.
“ Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", NONSENSE!!! “, “ASHAMED!“, exclaimed the Internet users. Some even called for a boycott and others promised never to listen to the show again.
Several viewers point out that many other candidates would have deserved to leave before Audrey-Louise. All the excluded (and the fans very early in the adventure) saw her as the big winner of the 2022 edition.
The singer Roxane Bruneau, who follows Star Académie religiously, also reacted on her social networks: “There, I'm going to meditate! It gives me the same feeling as when I listen to 13 seasons of a show and my favorite character dies. I know she didn't die there, but c*liss, that pisses me off!“, she said in a post
See several comments from baffled fans below (there are many more than just those shown here)...
**Caillou Fred: Tonight I'm really disappointed with the outcome of the evening.
It's obvious that we let one of the best go.
The problem is not the performances BUT the poor choice of the PROFS for the endangerment.
This is a really, really bad start. HONEST!
**Hugo Dumas: Seeing that Audrey-Louise is leaving. It can't be. I don't understand anything anymore.
Patrice Clement: Replying to @hugodumas
I agree, and I don't understand how she didn't get the public vote either. Clearly tonight it was her, Krystel and Eloi, in order
** Tita Bougon: Tonight it's like if Mitsou won a singing contest against Celine and Lara
**Claire Renaud: The teachers leave much to be desired as to why they put the talented Audrey-Louise and Krystel in danger! They had the opportunity to make an exception and protect both girls. It's a big lack of judgment on their part. Star Academy should disappear as it disappoints the young talents and the public. For us, this disappointing show is over.
**Liv: I’m sorry but with tonight's master stroke by the teachers towards AUDREY-LOUISE, Star Academy is going to lose a huge audience and it's very deserved.
**Robert Bonin: No common sense! This Audrey Louise was better and by very very far. What's the problem with Lara? From La Voix, Krystel was under her wing hello! A chance that the producers are more intelligent I hope, Audrey will make her way!
**Jaminy Cricket: Do we trade you Jeremy and Marily for the return of Audrey-Louise? That's a good deal, right?
**Mr. Clean: The show was good tonight, but the ending atrocious. It's like your favorite character dies. Is Luc Dionne the one who writes Star Academy?
**Marie-Laurence M.: I was dancing all through the variety and all that excitement just fell flat.
**Sylvie Bonami: So disappointed that Audrey-Louise is gone. Star Académie that I have always listened to is OVER!!!!!!!! Incomprehensible...... It's the teachers who should change.
**Jean-François Nadeau: Personally, the teachers are being evaluated this week.
It should be noted that this variety was one of the most appreciated by the public despite this dramatic turn of events at the end of the course.

And here’s another on the same topic (https://www.narcity.com/fr/lelimination-daudrey-louise-a-star-academie-choque-les-fans):

The heartbreaking elimination of Audrey-Louise at Star Académie greatly shocks the fans
"I literally believed she was the winner of Star Academie 2022."
That's it, the decision of the judges and the public during the variety episode of Sunday March 13 at Star Académie has fallen. Éloi Cummings having been chosen by the viewers and Krystel Mongeau by the panel, it was Audrey-Louise Beauséjour, the one who was expected to win the season, who had to pack her bags to leave the Waterloo mansion.
After having interpreted in a moving way the song “L’amour existe encore” by Celine Dion, it was the mother of little Adèle who was eliminated. This caused several reactions from fans, who spoke out on social media with more than 10,000 comments in nine hours under a post shared on the show's Facebook page.
This departure is one of the most shocking to date since all the eliminated candidates as well as many fans had anticipated that Audrey-Louise would be the winner of this season.
“It is to understand nothing about it. I literally thought she was the winner of Star Académie 2022. I'm really disappointed.”
“I thought she would be the final winner.”
“I too was sure that it was Audrey-Louise who was going to win Star Académie . In any case this year, it's nonsense, certainly not based on the voice. [...] that's two who get out and who had quite a voice. Bye bye Star Académie, really sad and disappointing”, even says a user.
Other members of the public think that it is often those who come from remote areas who are chosen by the public, because the inhabitants of the region are all behind the candidate in terms of the vote.
“Really disappointed! She should have made it to the final! It's always those who come from the regions who win the support of the public... The vote should remain between the teachers! For my part, it was the last time I voted.”
“Seriously so unfair. Éloi is very good, but he has all the Îles-de-la-Madeleine behind him. [...]”
Some TV viewers accused the judges, including director Lara Fabian, of being biased. Remember that in 2018, Krystel Mongeau and Julien Charbonneau were part of the Lara team at La Voix .
"Nonsense? The best in years who leaves! [Partiality] on the part of the teachers and the director? Big big disappointment compared to Lara Fabian”.
“The fact that none of the teachers had the grace, kindness and tact to say anything to Audrey-Louise upon her elimination (undeserved by the way) when they still do usually... What a shame and what a lack of class.”
The elimination of Audrey-Louise Beauséjour was so shocking that a petition to bring her back has even been created and out of 1000 desired signatures there are already 677 at the time of writing these lines.
That said, the career of the singer can continue to evolve after her career at Star Académie and by noting the number of people who have spoken for her, we can conclude that her passage has allowed her to win several fans.
---------------------------------------
Lara discussed the decision in her post mortem, explaining it as a choice for Kyrstel, not against Audrey-Louise (https://www.archyde.com/star-academie-controversial-departure-of-audrey-louise-lara-fabian-explains-the-choice-of-teachers/):
------------------------------------------------
“Star Académie”: controversial departure of Audrey-Louise, Lara Fabian explains the choice of teachers
The young singer was among the favorites to win the competition this year, but the teachers preferred Krystel to her last night during Variété. The other candidate in danger, Eloi, was saved by the public.
“I am extremely proud of my two friends. I’m proud of myself, too. It’s not a bitter taste. It would be lying to tell you that I am not disappointed, of course I would have liked to stay, I would have liked to have continued to sing (…)”, says Audrey-Louise in an interview with TVA Nouvelles.
Back at the Academy, director Lara Fabian had to take stock of the decision she made with Gregory Charles and Guylaine Tremblay.
“Tonight, from the moment Eloi was saved by the public, we watched the performances: yours [Krystel] and that of Audrey-Louise, which was also exceptional. The problem is that when you are faced with two exceptional people, you really have to adjust the line with the scalpel. And tonight, when you embodied this song, for all that you embodied… the choice was made that way,” Lara explained during her post-mortem.
“It is really extremely difficult for us to have committed ourselves to this choice, […] and we made this decision by virtue of the fact that the moment you deployed, it was absolutely unstoppable, irresistible, perfect and one of a kind. We saw someone appear, in your stature, in your bearing. It’s this kind of great moment that sometimes happens at the Grammys or the Oscars, it’s a bit like what you touched tonight. It is the grace that you have touched this evening, and it really deserved to be saved”, continues the director.
Early Monday afternoon, online petition by one of her fans had already collected nearly 3000 signatures.
----------------------------------------
An audio request for the petition noted in these articles is available in the J.de Montreal article link provided earlier. As another article notes (https://www.derniereheureqc.com/Une-petition-pour-le-retour-dAudrey-Louise-enflamme-le-web-106411), it will not really have any effect, but will allow viewers to express their displeasure.
The major mistake made by the teachers (and producers) was to take three of the best candidates and put them against one another in the 7th show. As the articles note, there are many other candidates (most of them, in fact) who are worse than these three; were this the semi-final it would be understandable, but what the show did was guarantee that the audience would be deprived of one of the best Academicians when it was only half-way through.
My own opinion is that I thought Krystal chose a better song, as it allowed her to ‘belt’, while Audrey-Louise had a more subtle number that didn’t fully play to her strengths. The judges indicated that “based on this performance” they chose Krystal. However, this was disingenuous, for in the case of some of the other competitions, they let it be known that their decision was based on the body of work, not just the one number – and the various variety presentations on the previous programs have given ample evidence that Audrey-Louise is the superior vocalist (as the fans writing in clearly thought). Nevertheless, given the position the judges put themselves in, they could have escaped it by choosing to keep both of them (which is what the petition in effect requests). As you may remember, Lara herself was involved in doing just that on The Voice (https://www.newsylist.com/the-voice-lara-fabian-changes-the-rules-during-a-broadcast-and-eliminates-a-favorite/). Instead they ended up alienating a portion of their viewing audience by eliminating a favorite. [Ironically, Lara also did that on the episode of The Voice referred to in the article above, when she eliminated the Canadian singer Margau]. It will be interesting to see whether those viewers who said they will now stop watching the show will carry through on that vow. [Personally, I think the contest has now become anticlimactic].
In other news, in association with Lara’s book, Je passe a table, the Journal de Montreal had an interview with Lara about cooking and eating (https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2022/03/11/dans-la-cuisine-avec-lara-fabian-pour-lamour-des-plaisirs-de-la-table?fbclid=IwAR00--jVpvif_k4qMs6_CFbTfrnbDpLxYtpAo45MfEgFTQRfNnO3wbDaqNk); here’s the translation:

In the kitchen with Lara Fabian: for the love of the pleasures of the table
Lara Fabian presents Je passe à table, a book all in authenticity and gastronomy in which she tells her story like never before. She looks back on her life, her travels, her moves, her career, her romantic encounters, her gourmet passions, and on what, in the pleasures of the table, nourishes the body and the spirit, and cultivates her taste for life…
GOURMET QUIZ
The book begins with a quote: “The pleasure of the table is of all ages, of all conditions, of all countries and of all days; it can be associated with all the other pleasures and remains the last, to console us for their losses”. - Anthelme Brillat-Savarin.
Do you also think, Lara, that the pleasure of the table is a major pleasure?
LF: Absolutely, it is essential. At the table, a good meal puts everyone in agreement, whatever the conversation, whether geopolitical or religious, whatever our social rank. The meal dissolves all forms of discord, but can on the other hand also animate all fundamental discussions.
Do you have a little morning routine? Tea or coffee ?
LF: In the morning, when I get up, I don't eat right away, I start with water. A few hours later, I'm going to make a fruit juice that will taste great, but will also be detoxifying. Half cold-pressed vegetables and half fruit, especially when the weather is nice. In winter, it will be more like an Earl Gray tea with bergamot and a little honey, or else a coffee with macadamia nut milk.
Croissant or oatmeal, fruit...?
LF: Fruit: kiwis, oranges, strawberries.
Since you no longer consume gluten, do you have equivalents that sustain and satisfy you?
LF: I no longer consume wheat flour to ensure my well-being, because it causes me great discomfort.
There are very good gluten-free breads today, especially in Italy, so I don't feel restricted.
I also like Le Pain des Fleurs.
Vegetarian or meat?
LF: It is true that I am a big consumer of vegetables and fruits. I like seasonal, local, organic products as much as possible. But if I am convinced that the meat that I am going to consume is of high quality and that it has been produced under rigorous and ethical rules, I will consume it from time to time, especially if it is local.
Meat or fish ?
LF: I make sure the fishing is ethical. You have to have a sense of proportion and be aware of overfishing and excesses. I have a small network of local producers who are sensitive to their ways of doing things and I trust them. Fish consumption is on the same register, it must be reasoned and respectful fishing.
Cheese or dessert ?
LF: For cheeses, I am lactose intolerant so I sometimes eat goat cheese, firm cheeses like pecorino, romano or pepato. From time to time, gorgonzola. For desserts, rather fruit sorbets, gelato, almond ice cream, a good chocolate mousse.
With steak, green salad or Belgian fries?
LF: The salad, but also fries, potatoes with yellow flesh that I cut thick and that I cook in a little grapeseed oil and a touch of olive oil.
Caramel or chocolate?
LF: Dark chocolate, but not too high in cocoa content, not too bitter anyway.
A good address for chocolate?
LF: Gendron chocolate confectioner, in Longueuil. Danielle Gendron is a master, her chocolates are divine.
Cake or cookies?
LF: There are very good cookies without flour. But I also make them myself with Steve's gluten-free flour, with which I also make mini-savarins, whipped cream and candied peaches. For dessert, I also make pavlova--- , strawberry soup, tiramisu, chocolate mousse and Nutella, a recipe that is in my book.
Beer or wine?
LF: Wine. I really like the Amarones and Le Nero d'Avola from my island (Sicily), and also the American Cabernet Sauvignons. For special occasions, Gevrey-Chambertin.
Do you have a favorite kitchen accessory?
LF: I had a large All-Clad casserole dish with a very high rim. I would like to find one, because it allows you to make a large dish that you place in the center of the table, it's perfect. Otherwise, a bottle opener, of course.
Do you have a little ritual when you prepare meals? Small glass of wine, background music, you sing...
LF: I like to put on classical music, Mozart, Beethoven, the great composers, a glass of wine and it's perfect.
Do you have a favorite recipe that you make for your guests to please them?
LF: I like preparations that cook for a long time, that simmer, the pleasure of placing a large, generous dish with lots of flavor in the center of the table, like an osso buco. I know I'm going to please with the risotto that I know well, like the butternut squash and Matane shrimp risotto.
Tell us that you have ever served a completely failed dish... ( laughs )
LF: I had made chicken a la cacciatore (with tomato) and burned the tomatoes. Eventually, the flesh of the tomatoes became by overcooking almost like tomato honey. My daughter said it was the best chicken cacciatore she had ever had.
A culinary discovery?
LF: Riviera lemon coconut milk yoghurts.
What did it smell like in your home, in the kitchen, when you were little?
LF: Basil, oranges, hot bread and tomato sauce.
ADDRESS BOOKS
Your favorite restaurants in Quebec?
LF: Park, on Victoria Street, in Montreal, and Monarque, on Saint-Jacques Street, in Montreal
Favorite culinary products?
LF: The cherry coated with vanilla cream and chocolate from Gendron.
Favorite dish at the restaurant?
LF: For freshness, if I'm confident of the provenance, a raw fish dish. A tataki, Ponzu sauce.
What can't you do without in the kitchen?
LF: Olive oil and garlic.
Which dishes do you like a lot?
LF: Risottos with vegetables or mushrooms, meatballs with tomato sauce, fish kofta, pears with gorgonzola.
Guilty greed?
LF: An addition of whipped cream on the chocolate mousse.
Your favorite kitchen style?
LF: Italian, Japanese, Moroccan.

Sixteenth Story: A Just (Righteous) Woman
Mamy Marie, dad's mom
I have a short and touching story about my dad's mom.
I called her "godmother".
During World War II, while the Nazis were wreaking havoc in Central Europe by expropriating, denying access to all areas of daily life and decimating Jewish families, my grandmother sided with the Resistance.
During the war, she took in a little boy, Samuel Goldberg.
Resistance
She saved his life and gave my father a playmate for four years.
They slept head to toe every night because there was no room in the house where my grandmother hid him. At the end of the war, my grandmother managed to get him safely to what was left of his family, decimated by the atrocities of the last years.
She will never see him again.
Later, when I went to Jerusalem for my first concert in Israel, I discovered, thanks to Dad's research, that Samuel was still alive.
Mr. Goldberg is a grandfather today.
Thanks to Marie Van Hove, my grandmother, he was able to build a family, to see his children grow up and his grandchildren flourish without suffering any after-effects.
In the name of this gesture of love that she made at a time when humanity needed to be united more than ever, mamy has become "a just (righteous) woman".
I was told this story much later. When she became a Jehovah's Witness. When her need to contribute to the good of others became even greater.
In addition to all the lessons she taught me, on Wednesday afternoons, when I got home from school, she would cook me delicious brown sugar apples and teach me Hebrew songs, and in the summer, she would make me strawberry soup.
My grandmother had the voice and heart of an angel, she sang very often in my presence, she was one of my first great emotions, the first person I saw crying when listening to my voice.
She was the confirmation that a voice has the power to deeply move and heal at the same time.

Wonderful story...
When Lara talks about her book, she mentions ’15 stories’, and yet this is the 16th (and there’s one more). The distinction is that the last two stories are not directly about her.
Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week: As posted by the ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ FB site,

Next week the Star Academie will continue, with its 8th episode. These shows are usually able to transcend controversial judging decisions, which sometimes make them even more popular by providing publicity - though that doesn’t seem likely in this case. Stay safe everybody.

Interesting photo(s)/video(s) of the week: As posted by the ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ FB site,
a video of Josée Lavigueur giving pilates lessons to Academicians with Lara’s support:

Next week the Star Academie will continue, with its 8th episode. These shows are usually able to transcend controversial judging decisions, which sometimes make them even more popular by providing publicity - though that doesn’t seem likely in this case. Stay safe everybody.
