A very light week publicly for Lara. Lara’s latest CD, the Lockdown Sessions, has begun arriving in Europe, particularly Belgium and France. Good news for those who have waited two months for it. We’ll see if that has any influence on its appearance in the Belgium or French music charts; probably not, given its particular form of distribution. But maybe at least there will be an article about it in their music news.
Lara’s only direct interaction with fans was a video she posted on her Facebook site and Instagram sites, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/1298953033837291
which came along with her caption, “I support the actions of the Leski Foundation which does a wonderful job ... I salute the teams for their unfailing dedication ♥ ️🙏 ♥ ️”
As those who have been following Lara’s activities as spokesperson for this organization know, the Leski Foundation is a non-profit organization in Quebec, whose mission is to assist people who have been criminal victims, as well as people with mental health problems and individuals struggling with autism spectrum disorder. The objective is to offer accompaniment with assistance animals to support people who wish to compensate for their disability in their daily lives, increase their autonomy and avoid social exclusion. Lara’s own dog Kayla is one such animal. In this case, a Leski Foundation dog Maki, a black Newfoundland born and bred in 2017, accompanied a survivor, “a fighter”, Isabelle. Together, they have triumphed in achieving justice.
Tele-Quebec announced that Lara will be on the show “Pour une histoire” on TVA, February 12th. Their announcement reads, “Find three great ladies of song for a memorable evening on February 12 at 10 p.m.
“Pour une histoire:… with Joe Bocan, Marie Carmen, Marie Denise Pelletier and their guests, Klô Pelgag, Ingrid St-Pierre and Lara Fabian.

Star Académie: Discover the guests of the first variety and the two candidates saved by the public!
We’re almost there … On February 14, the official day of love and Valentine’s Day, it will be the first of Star Academy. Today we are delighted to discover the identity of the first six guests who will participate in the very first variety, launching with great fanfare the festivities of the very popular musical reality show.
Those are Laurence Nerbonne, Louis-Jean Cormier, Patrick Norman, Corneille, the Boulay Sisters and the rapper Fouki who will take the stage for the great television show, accompanied by the 22 candidates selected so far.
The #NationStarAc pronounced: nearly 250,000 votes were recorded in just 4 days, allowing fans to complete the cohort of 22 candidates who will access the first great variety, from the long-awaited return of Star Academy.
The public has decided and it is Allyson Kneader and Vincent Julien who will join the other 20 artists on the MELS stage and hope to make their entrance to the Academy that evening. Feverish, the host Patrice Michaud announced it to them earlier today on Instagram.
At the dawn of the great return of Star Academy, an album-event was announced this week bringing together all the finalists of the 5 seasons of Star Academy (2003-2012): Our reunion. L’album. Our reunion contains 10 new rereadings of songs that marked the passage of each of the finalists on the set of Star Academy over the years. Thus, the public will be able to rediscover the memorable pieces that have marked out the career of artists who have shone brightly and whose talent has blossomed in Star Academy.
----------------------------------------
It was noted these songs were from quite some time ago, but now have been updated with “new readings”.
As indicated previously, since Lara’s participation in this show is not as involved as in The Voice shows, our coverage will be somewhat perfunctory. But we’ll be checking in to see noteworthy events, and review articles.
Not that Lara appears to have any interest in traveling outside the country at this point in time, but Canada has imposed new restrictions on international travel. As noted in advisories such as that discussed in (https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-canada/news/2021/01/government-of-canada-introduces-further-restrictions-on-international-travel.html): “Effective midnight (11:59 PM EST) February 3, 2021, in addition to proof of a negative pre-departure test, Transport Canada will expand the existing international flight restrictions which funnel scheduled international commercial passenger flights into four Canadian airports: Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Calgary International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport. The new restrictions will include scheduled commercial passenger flights arriving from the United States, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America, which were exempted from the previous restriction. As soon as possible in the coming weeks, all air travellers arriving in Canada, with very limited exceptions, must reserve a room in a Government of Canada-approved hotel for three nights at their own cost, and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.” And there are many quotes from high ranking officials warning Canadians not to travel outside Canada.
As to what is happening, there has been a slight recent decrease in Quebec in confirmed cases, deaths and hospitalizations (e.g., montreal.ctvnews.ca/quebec-reports-significant-drop-in-daily-covid-19-cases-with-just-890-new-infections-on-monday-1.5290653); we’ll see if the trend continues.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: Although this is obviously a video, “L’universe de Lara Fabian” put together another nice compilation of one of Lara’s songs, in this case “S’en aller”, available at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=40_A-gh42Os
One of Lara’s high energy songs, it shows up every now and then in her concert sets.
As for real pictures, the Lara Fabian “L’etoile des anges” FB site has a number from Lara’s appearance on the last Star Academie show, at

The next Star Academie show is still nearly two weeks away, but Lara is probably quite busy with activities associated with it. As for her other main professional activities, there’s no indication she will do any promotion for the Lockdown Session albums. Concerning the 50 World Tour, at some point she’s going to have to address the question of whether all of the concerts she has planned for June in Europe will really be possible; you may know that there’s now considerable doubt as to whether the Olympics in Japan will be held, and that has been scheduled to begin in July. Most of the June concerts were postponed two or three times already; at some point, interest may flag if it keeps happening. But presumably any decision is still probably a few months away. Keep safe everybody.
