Two major items of interest concerning Lara this past week, a big magazine spread, and, what we’ll start with, her ongoing TV show.
The second ‘selection camp’ of The Star Academie was held Sunday night, and Lara was prominent throughout. Prior to the show she posted a promo picture of herself there, at
www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=265257248291909&set=a.259330805551220
with the caption, “We meet again this evening, 7 p.m. on TVA for the continuation of the TVA Star Academy Selection Camp during which you will hear the 30 aspiring academics singing! This is the last step, every place is precious! See you later for beautiful emotions 💙 #nationstarac”
And TVA had a promo video, in which Lara appears, at

Charles Kamoun at Star Académie: Lara Fabian's love at first sight goes to the first variety
This Sunday, during the second part of the selection camp, the 30 aspiring Academicians played it all in front of a part of the faculty, in order to be among the 20 lucky ones to take the next step: the first variety will be aired on February 14.
To get there, the 30 artists offered a final performance in front of part of the faculty, namely the director of the Academy, Lara Fabian, as well as the voice and music teachers Gregory Charles, and musical creation, Ariane Moffatt . Some of them learned immediately upon finishing their performance that they were chosen. The others had to wait, while the three judges deliberate at the end of the day, after seeing everyone.
All amazing in their own way, some candidates came, for one reason or another, to particularly touch the teachers. For example Annabel Orestre, 19, whose performance we had seen earlier this week and who managed to make Lara, Gregory and Ariane shed a few tears.
For her part, Lara Fabian fell in love with one of the aspiring Academicians in particular: Charles Kamoun, 27 years old.
Indeed, the director of the Academy was touched right to the heart by the sincerity and the intensity of the interpretation of the one who is from Quebec while he sang the piece Impossible by Shontelle.
“I think what you have, above all, is something that we all need right now on this planet. It's because you have the ability to communicate what hurts you, not to weigh down others, but to awaken others ” she told him after his performance.
Even though he didn't get the pass to the first variety right after hearing his audition, his name still came out during final deliberations, as Lara Fabian called him her “love at first sight”.
Finally, Charles managed to carve out a place among the 20 candidates who will participate in the first variety, on February 14!
Will he be one of the 15 lucky ones to enter the Academy? To be continued!
As for the 10 artists who were not selected, they will have the chance to perform a very last audition to try to charm the public. These can be found on social networks and online .
From Sunday January 24 at 8 p.m. to Thursday January 28 at 11:59 p.m., go to the tvaplus.ca website to vote. 2 lucky winners will then be invited to the variety show on February 14 where a total of 22 candidates will fight for the 15 places at the Academy.
---------------------------------
As indicated, Lara was one of the three judges who helped pare down the contestants. We get snatches of song, more from those who ended up being chosen. None of them really are polished professionals, and so one’s expectations can’t be too high, but some of the candidates obviously have higher ‘ceilings’ than others, and that seems to be what the judges are looking for, in addition to their current capability. The next show, in several weeks, will provide the final 15 candidates who will go forward at the actual building in Waterloo, Quebec.
The Lara Fabian America site provided a number of pictures from the show, at

With the caption, “Behind the scenes of the cover of Clin d'oeil magazine with an amazing team!

Women's Tales - Meeting Culture
On a cold Monday afternoon, at the dawn of a holiday break that was anything but sweet for our icy hearts, by the pandemic, Lara Fabian and I let ourselves be lulled by our common passion: we talked about love. Together, we told each other our fairy tales, which we have on our backs, as she prepares to take on the role of director of the newest cohort of star academy.
It is her mythical voice that sets the tone for this discussion, a voice that invites confidence, gentleness, and truth that does good.
We calm each other down, I don't know her very well, only by reputation and by the documentary recently broadcast on Club illico, "Lara".
I learned from her about the hazards of her heart, sometimes reddened by fame, shows, sometimes by encounters, family. I learned about her innate Talent, her star aura, sometimes shattered by the way she looks at herself. A hard, demanding look, sometimes too much. Shattered also by professional and personal disappointments. But what interests me even more, now, when I'm lucky enough to have her in the flesh in front of me, two meters and a few specks away, is just to learn more about the Lara of now.
Three kiwis in a Tupperware box
There is a fascination with the intimacy of the great women in the public sphere, those who have been shining in the spotlight for a long time. Romantic scandals have always been fashionable, especially those of women. So quickly, when we imagine the love life of a Lara Fabian, we get caught up in the game, we imagine great romantic gestures, glittering or oversized gifts, stories about chirpy women. It's a reflex.
But when she talks to me about what love, the real thing, is for her, it's so much simpler, more raw.....Much greater, in fact.
For Lara, love is three kiwis in a Tupperware box. Simple as that.
She tells me, her eyes full of stars, that she's a woman often in a hurry, in the morning, she forgets to eat breakfast before jumping in her car. She doesn't even think about it, concentrating instead on what's waiting for her at the end of the road, on the last load that's finished drying, on her list of things to do. Thoughts of a hard worker, a businesswoman, a loving mother. So when she gets into her car, she comes across pure love. Gabriel, her husband of almost 10 years now, thinks of everything.
A coffee, a kombucha (her favorite flavor) and three kiwis in a Tupperware box. With a towel and utensils.
Sweets for the road, to continue to shine at her best.
For Lara and Gabriel “Love must be a state of peace and romanticism, a concrete gesture of love.” This peace is like a garden in bloom: fragile and resilient, capricious but saving. She smiles as she tells me that with him she can fall in love again at every second.
“You know, that millisecond lapse of time where your brain is not necessarily aligned with your thoughts, that phenomenon that creates the sensation of déja-vu...It happens to me sometimes with Gabriel; he enters a room and in the space of a second, I don't realize it's him. I see the one who, for me, is the most beautiful man on earth, without realizing that in fact it is my husband.”
Shivers. She blushes. In fact, each time she pronounces the first name, of Gabriel, her eyes react and get confused by a different light. That's also what crazy love is all about, everything happens in the eyes. She finishes her reflection too.
“Love is the fifth element, the one that truly has the power to make us reach things we didn't even imagine!”
Je t'aime
Since she has been living this great story with her Gabriel, she admits to singing differently.
She now creates in a state that is completely different from that of survival.
She has learned to modify the expression of who she is by infusing her singing with more serenity and certainty, finally freeing herself from the impression that her art is a safety carabiner .
Inevitably it was necessary to talk about her famous song "Je t'aime" which resounds in the chest cavities of the greatest lovers. A powerful cry that screams pain and tears from the first words.
“D’accord, il existait
D’autre façons de se quitter
Quelques éclats de verre
Auraient peut-être pu nous aider
Dans ce silence amer
J‘ai décidé de pardonner
Les erreurs qu’on peut faire
A trop s‘aimer“
She wonders about the echoes of a torment song: “We always think that a great love song from the worst pain will be infinitely more powerful than a song which speaks of a state of peace, while in the long run, what will remain is what has made us happier people rather than the opposite.”
Lara. Second part.
The love she speaks to herself, the tenderness of her to herself. There, it's less fluid. She weighs her words, searches, hesitates, almost holds back. It's difficult to talk about self-love, but it's so liberating. I ask her how she applies all this peace and giving on a daily basis to the woman she is. There is a silence for a few long seconds between the two of us. She takes the time to think about it seriously. We no longer feel that she is uncertain, she thinks about it for herself, it's beautiful to see.
She begins by answering me:
“Oh wow, big question!”
She still smiles, eyes elsewhere, far away in her head.
She adds: “That's a really nice debate.”
She laughs softly. Not badly at ease, just aware that she still has to reflect about it a little, a lot, passionately. Then she finally confesses.
“Self-love is the second part of my life. I scar myself and heal through the love that Gabriel has for me; I manage to reassure myself... I sometimes dare to look at myself through his loving gaze and there I see someone...”
She stops, as if she were dizzy.
She struggles to keep up, she even confesses to having difficulty pronouncing these words.
Another silence settles in, she perhaps stores up strength to assume her conclusion, to allow herself to even marvel at it.
She launches: “I see someone beautiful....But it's still difficult to see me as he sees me.”
This confidence is immensely beautiful, true, bittersweet. Because I realize that even madly in love, it's hard to believe that you deserve so much peace. And there, now, alone in a room a little too cold for such a hot subject, we notice together, without judging ourselves, between women with multiple love stories, that self-love is the work of a lifetime, whether we are 30 or 50 years old ...
We are like one who is just 13 years old, like her daughter Lou, whom she nicknames, precisely, “amour”. This mother-daughter bond that she cherishes on a daily basis suddenly makes her very moved. She confides, admiring:
“She is 100 times more beautiful than her mother, 100 times finer than her mother.... But she is a teenager who needs to save the people she rubs shoulders with. And that's the power of genetics.”
Since she was a teenager, Lara was the same. And that can make you dizzy. To recognize in oneself the most beautiful and the most fragile, through one's child. But she reassures herself by noting that her “amour” has even more guts than she had at her age. She sees that, in her daughter, in her desire not to disappoint herself, and that is so real and beautiful at the same time for a mother.
We must conclude, because time is running out. We thank each other five times for the enveloping warmth that follows from our confidences. First of all, I believe that we have said everything about love, but no. She wants to ask me a question. It's her turn:
“What's your biggest dream of love?”
Right away, I think of the garden I mentioned earlier. I like this image, but it is not quite familiar to me yet.
The loves I've experienced have never lasted long enough to take root and blossom.
So I tell her that my dream would be not to give up if, one day, I feel that I have to take care of my crops in order to taste the love that lasts, that grows, that is cultivated.
She then entrusts me with hers, like a goodbye gift.
“I would like to become more and more serene, more and more reassured of the fact that I really have what it takes to make it last; never let my fear and my disenchantment take over my feelings or control my love train.”
Lara Fabian is indeed on a love train. She drives herself, from her to her, from her to Gabriel, from her to her daughter, from her to her art. With a masterful hand, with a bright red heart, her voice like an eternal ally, she loves fast.

Again, great thanks to Bernhard for all his work and sharing. Lara has been looking for serenity (and self-love) for many years; may she finally find it.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: As seen in the ‘cover’ video for the publication Clin d'oeil, many wonderful photos of Lara were taken for the article – and some of them have been promulgated on Lara’s fan sites. These were all definitely “interesting” , e.g.,

Outside of occasional surprises, like the magazine article, we expect Lara’s time will be taken up primarily with Star Academie business; the next ‘decision’ show will occur in two weeks time. Hopefully Lara – and all of you – will be staying safe.
