Lara began the New Year with, appropriately enough, a New Year’s Greeting for her fans. She wrote,
“I wish you all a wonderful year 2021...
May these next few months allow us to find each other, in music, I hope so with all my heart...
Last year was very difficult... and I hope that in 2021 we have the joy of sharing new moments together...
Sending you all my best thoughts... take good care of yourself....
Loving
Lara”
And this was associated with a happy picture she posted, which instantly became the best new picture of Lara this year

We note a number of Lara’s fan sites, including Lara Fabian America, L’universe de Lara Fabian, Lara Fabian The Netherlands, the Lara Fabian International Page (among others) had nice pictures of Lara and/or holiday greetings to close out the old year and open the new one.
Lara then “got back to business” by providing the ‘official photo’ of the Star Academie ‘staff” wishing people a happy new year, taken by photographer Genevieve Charbonneau:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.622966977744803/4940649249309866
/
or
with the caption, “Happy to reveal the official photo of this upcoming season of @staracademietva
📸 : @genevievecharbonneau #staracademietva"
A video of Genevieve taking the photos, including pictures of Lara, can be seen at
www.facebook.com/staracademietva/videos/854781315271823
Not surprisingly, it is indicated that under the circumstances, each of them was photographed separately, in separate positions, and then their pictures were combined to form the group photo.
Additional photos of Lara from this shoot are collected at:

Lara also is shown in several promos for the show, whose first appearance on TVA will be later this month. A ‘welcoming short video’, is at
www.facebook.com/staracademietva/videos/395615218184937
and another, with Lara apparently listening to a student, is at
www.facebook.com/staracademietva/videos/444208386947780
with the caption, “We'll make you live a beautiful range of emotions. Are you ready? 🥺✨
As of January, on TVA.”
Later this week Lara will be on ‘Ici TV’ in Quebec, likely again associated with the Star Academie show. The announcement, which was issued last month, reads,
“We're so excited to have you back on January 8!
A fabulous month with Lara Fabian the 8th, Mathieu Baron on the 15th, Debbie Lynch-White on the 22nd and Sylvain Cossette on the 29th.
Until then, spend a peaceful holiday season with your loved ones and we'll meet again in 2021. 🎄❄️💙”
And they included a nice picture of Lara (presumably from the pre-recorded) show, at

The Lara Fabian America FB site has a scan of the cover of Echos Vedettes, TVA’s magazine, showing Lara (and others) on the cover, with her saying she’s going to put all her heart into the Star Academie:

In other news - Good news right off the top of the year: For those who have not seen the documentary “Lara”, it is now (as of this writing) available on youtube, at
www.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR1fsMAlzyNqjORwLV4EKQCEhWkQ9bgtn_Oxb-DlRUdqIIKPbrVnXqeWgYQ&v=4KsLEZaJZL8&feature=youtu.be
This effectively answers the question of how Lara's fans in France can see it, although that does not make it overly apparent to the general French public, who may not know about it.
And sad news for so early in the year: The “Lara Fabian Coeur de Lumiere” FB page has now disappeared. It joins others which left last year, such as “"Lara Fabian & Emmanuel Moire: LE duo" (which Olivier now has to some extent continued with the “Lara Fabian Par amour FB site”), the “Lara Fabian – PHQ” site, and “Lara Fabian Italia” (among others). A number of others, although not officially closed, have become basically inactive. Lara sites have always ‘come and gone’ for a variety of reasons, e.g., switching from URLs to Facebook, and then within Facebook itself, sometimes leaving messages for fans, other times not. The hope is that in these cases there were not health-related issues. Regardless, each of them will be missed, and their disappearance diminishes all of the Lara fan club community. Thanks to all of them for the enthusiastic hard work they put in; it brought us great enjoyment and understanding.
[In that regard…next week marks the completion of 15 years of these weekly News Updates (all of them are still available at (https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/lfiag/laradomus-f5/)). I thank all of the readers over that time, and of course Lara herself for providing entertainment and ‘fodder’ each week to write about. I also do not take for granted that it will be able to continue indefinitely; the fate of the sites noted above is warning enough…].
Lara’s “Lockdown Sessions” album has still not gotten any noticeable reviews in the press (that I’ve seen), and does not appear on any of the charts – not even the Belgian chart, where Papillon still lives (at #164). Most likely her people have not reported the sales from her website to these charts, or maybe they don’t include such sales. It will be interesting to see whether she talks about the album at all in her upcoming appearance on Ici TV (the bet is: NO).
Another one of the ‘reaction’ videos is available on youtube, this one from Waleska and Efra reacting to Lara and Laura Pausini’s “La Solitudine” at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=O30GaBDAf6Q
A chief problem with a number of these videos (as in this case) is that they ‘cut’ them so that you don’t get to hear the full song; even though that is available elsewhere, it becomes jarring to watch them. Probably they just don’t have much to say during the performance. It's linked to here because their discussion after the song is worthwhile.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: two from the ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ FB site, the first indicating the “turn of a page” for the new year,

And worthy of another mention, the www.instagram.com/larafabian_fanpage_/ site, with one of their latest:
The site continually provides high quality creative pictures of Lara.
One will get to see Lara on Ici TV later this week, but her time will likely be focused on the upcoming shows of the Star Academie. The 60 girls and boys who will be in the first “Selection Camp” (January 17, 7 p.m.), will be cut to 30 at the end of the program. These 30 will return the following week (January 24, 7 p.m.), when the number of contestants will be reduced to the 15 that will actually live full-time in their ‘mansion’, and whose daily activities will be recorded. Meanwhile Lara gets to be generally home, with her family. A good (hopefully healthy) start to the year for her. May that be true for you as well.
