where one could fill out the form to join.
You may recall that this ‘opportunity’ was made available once before, “many moons” ago; in fact, many of you may find that you’ve already registered. You can be excused for not remembering this, since nothing ever came of it. Hopefully, this communication will be more purposeful. In particular, Lara had mentioned several different times that she is preparing a new, different type of album, with mantra-like singing (the “confinement” album), and perhaps information about that will be sent to fans via this mailing-list. If she really wanted to exploit it, there are many different offers of products/opportunities that could be made available, but outside of some aborted attempts in the past, Lara has never really commercialized these lists. We’ll see what happens here.
Lara will be appearing on the “30th Show du refuge” on ICI Télé on December 13. An associated picture of her is available at
www.envedette.ca/potins-stars-quebec/television/lara-fabian-lulu-hughes-melissa-bedard-30e-show-du-refuge-1.13972027?fbclid=IwAR0amqJx3CJqM7qO-_JZbTkLt85dN91IjqJJmqZBzcUwraGFqozHIjQxRTs

LARA FABIAN, LULU HUGHES AND MÉLISSA BÉDARD AT THE 30TH SHOW DU REFUGE!
The Refuge Show will mark its 30th anniversary this year in the context of a pandemic.
It was out of the question for the indefatigable conductor of this event Dan Bigras, spokesperson for the Refuge des Jeunes de Montréal for 30 years, to ignore this anniversary edition!
Your favorite artists will therefore come together once again this year for a good cause. Lara Fabian, Lulu Hughes, Bruno Pelletier, Brigitte Boisjoli, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Maka Kotto, Mélissa Bédard and the rapper Sans Pression will offer a concert not to be missed on December 13 on ICI Télé.
As there will be no traditional benefit show this year, which usually collects the equivalent of 25% of the organization's financial needs, the Refuge des Jeunes de Montréal invites the public to participate in this “No-Show of Refuge” by purchasing a virtual ticket on noshowdurefuge.ca . This donation will come to the real help of one of the 600 young people who will be welcomed this year.
Since its inception, 160 artists have done the honor of serving the cause of the Refuge des Jeunes de Montréal, which has welcomed more than 21,000 young people in 30 years.
-----------------------------------------
It's not clear whether buying a virtual ticket from some location outside Canada would allow one to access the show on ICI Tele. Probably not.
According to Wikipedia, the Refuge des Jeunes de Montreal has as its mission to support troubled and homeless young men aged 17 to 25, and to help improve their living conditions. This is done by:
Building and maintaining one or more youth shelters.
Providing goods and services to answer primary needs (shelter, bed, personal hygiene and first aid).
Seeking to develop a trusting relationship with these youths through warmth and hospitality.
Offering support, orientation, education and counseling services.
Creating services or activities to avoid youth homelessness (young men between 17 and 25).
Promoting the engagement and accountability of the youths hosted at the Refuge.
Raising public awareness of the conditions of troubled and homeless young men.
Supporting activities to defend and promote troubled and homeless youths’ rights.
In other news, the ’Star Academie’ show for which Lara will be the director has a new teacher. An article about it appears at
(https://www.envedette.ca/potins-stars-quebec/television/star-academie-2021-un-celebre-artiste-se-joint-a-l-equipe-de-profs-1.13966853). In short, it says:
-----------------------------
A new internationally renowned artist joins the faculty of Star Académie 2021 : Marc Séguin!
The artist painter, filmmaker and author will be one of the teachers of the artistic identity course.
It is within the framework of this same course that academics will receive advice from Anne Dorval, Pepe Muñoz and Yannick Nézet-Séguin .
Marc Séguin will teach artistic identity like Anne Dorval, @nezetseguin and @pepemunoz. An extraordinary artist, who is causing a sensation in NY, but who remains very rooted in Quebec.
In addition to these four teachers of the artistic identity course, the candidates of Star Académie 2021 will have the chance to be surrounded by several other accomplished artists: Lara Fabian will be the director of the Academy, Patrice Michaud will host the great varieties of Sunday evening, Mika will assume the role of artistic director, Ariane Moffatt will be professor of musical creation and Gregory Charles will be in charge of the voice and music course!
In addition, Jean-Philippe Dion is the producer of this eagerly awaited new edition. The grand premiere of Star Académie 2021 will be presented on February 14, 2021 at TVA.
-------------------------------------
Since Lara will be spending much of her time with the Star Academie show, it’s useful to understand it a bit more about it. A useful article published several months ago can be found at (https://www.lequotidien.com/arts/richard-therrien/star-academie-plus-humain-moins-de-potins-a0656c33ccfcbc41a7a80978cba20137); here’s the translation:
----------------------------------------
Star Académie : more human, less gossip
CHRONICLE / Star Academy was never Loft Story, but it had its voyeuristic side. All this somewhat touting aspect of reality TV, the new production does not want any more: the Star Académie of 2021, which will appear this winter on TVA, will focus on music and on people.
The broadcaster made this promise on Tuesday by unveiling the main features of this eagerly awaited comeback, signed Productions Déferlantes. “We opted for a very human approach, of an observation documentary type. We didn't want to be very voyeuristic and invasive, ”explains Quebecor Content vice-president of original content, Denis Dubois, a few days before the audition tour across Quebec and New Brunswick.
Of the top 100 they find, 22 will be chosen to take part in the selection camp, which will be the subject of two specials in January. Fifteen of them will be selected to form the 2021 cohort and participate in the first of 12 direct live shows, beginning in February.
If there was one name that did not circulate among the potential animators, it was that of Patrice Michaud. The singer-songwriter who spawned the hits of Mécaniques générale and Kamikaze is making his debut as a host at the Sunday night variety bar. He had already received other offers of animation for two years, but this one was timely. “Music will be in the foreground. This is the difference between the old version and the current one: I had the impression that I was offered the animation of a music show on TV, more than a TV show with music." The daily show, presented as a docu-reality, will no longer have a host.
Mika's name had already been revealed as artistic director, but it is Lara Fabian who inherits the title of director of the Academy, a role played in turn by Josélito Michaud, Denise Filiatrault, Denis Bouchard and René Angélil in the old version. Gregory Charles, from the team of teachers for the 2012 edition, is back in service with Ariane Moffatt. Two more teachers will be announced soon. [As indicated in the article above, they now have].
Gregory has fond memories of his role as a teacher. "Star Academy, it's a Formula 1 season. We have 15 cars and we have to bring them to the race every week”, he said, remembering the torments, the questionings and the challenges of his students, with whom he kept contact. In addition, a new artistic identity course has been created, which will be awarded to several guest teachers, including Anne Dorval, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Pepe Munoz, Celine Dion's famous dancer and choreographer. Will it come to take its turn at the Sunday varieties? “We are not there”, answers Jean-Philippe Dion. “We are also announcing a creation laboratory and an original theme song, created 100% by local artists, and not borrowed from the classics of Quebec song as in years past.”
The new production, which arrives this winter at TVA, clearly wants to stand out from the first version. We insist on the diversity of styles, which was lacking in the original cuvée, smooth and uniform. We are also abandoning elimination by gender. Back then, the girls would take out one of them before the guys did the same the following week, and so on alternately. In 2020, it no longer has its place, judges the production. It is the teachers and the director who will designate the academicians who will have to present themselves for evaluation, based on their performance at the Sunday gala.
It is surely for all these reasons that Ariane Moffatt agreed to join the faculty of this new cuvée, she who, at the time, refused to participate in Star Académie. "Our industry has evolved so much since, we classify much less than before the types of music in boxes, something has democratized in the styles and in the way of carrying out one's career." The idea of putting humans at the center of the creation process, of insisting less on the competitive aspect and on the rise of a big star of the song, also seduced her. "Today, I am completely in phase with the mandate of the show and I do not have the impression of betraying myself, of going against my values", she affirms.
While they were virtually cut off from the world in previous seasons, only allowed one vulgar phone call here and there - remember the conversations between Wilfred and Denise! - academics will now have access to social networks and will even be able to consult newspapers. "We don't want it to demoralize them, that it tints their state of mind, that it creates bad competition in the group, but all of that can happen in life", explains producer Jean-Philippe Dion, who mentions the possible presence of a psychologist to support the participants. Denis Dubois sees it as an opportunity to educate around social networks. “Sometimes it can be violent. We will see the impact it will have on them.”
At first glance, everything that irritated me about Star Académie seems to have been taken out of the new formula. I have less the impression of attending the making of a star, formatted, machined, who does not necessarily sing what she really wants, and who dresses as she has been told to dress. As long as we deliver the goods, offer a wide range of styles and give candidates a lot more ballast. Let them be themselves.
----------------------------------
These changes sound positive; we’ll see how they play out. As noted, having the candidates see themselves reviewed on social media may well turn out to be problematic for some of them – hence the potential availability of a psychiatrist. Tricky business…
The ‘Lara Fabian Par Amour’ FB site noted that November 20th is Lou’s birthday (she is now 13), and published the following picture

A beautiful instrumental of ‘Broken Vow’ with romantic pictures of Lara is their latest entry.
In a somewhat similar creative vein, “L’univers de Lara Fabian” has continued to provide their video mixes of Lara’s songs, adding “Si tu m’aimes/To Love Again” and “Adagio” (Italian and English) in the last two weeks, as can be seen at:

We’ll see if ‘something new’ is coming soon for Lara, as the invitation to join her mailing list indicated. Otherwise, she will most likely be focused on Star Academie activities, for which news will probably continue to dribble out. Stay safe everybody – especially important now with conditions getting worse in most places.
