Welcome to la rentrée (in France). Usually this is associated with a ‘return to business’ after a long vacation. In Lara’s case, it marks the beginning of a ‘vacation’, since, after the events of last week, Lara is now officially “between jobs” – no concerts upcoming, no TV show to prepare for, no record (yet) to promote…She said that the lockdown had opened her eyes to how she had been juggling these three activities for the last few years, and how it was a relief to be able to stay at home and have a real family life. Not sure that she meant she would like to give up all three of them, pretty much at the same time. This may be a case of ‘beware of what you ask for, for you may get it’.
However, there still is a bit of unfinished business, although it’s not immediate. Even though the concerts in France and Switzerland have been officially postponed 'til next Spring (people have reported the shows at the Olympia in France will be in June), the question turns to the concerts in Quebec in December. As of right now, the two concerts in Montreal are sold out, while the one in Quebec City is still selling tickets (https://larafabian.ca/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=evenement&utm_campaign=quebec&fbclid=IwAR25DVa1UzImNzZOxlZaiRkUKBSJSmHVb4fBbqe_GEZU72A_SpBWqcRlVxE). Since tickets were being sold for the September concerts in France right up to the day of the postponement, and that was just 10 days before they were to start, one imagines no call will be made about Quebec until quite close to those events in time.
Currently the situation in Quebec remains stable – 140 new cases and one death in the last 24 hours. Yet still in place is the limitation of no more than 250 people together – even in an outdoor event – which would prevent Lara’s concerts from being held. Obviously no one knows what the situation in winter will be like, but most forecasts do not include the word “improvement”.
As you may have heard, the situation continues to be severe in France, with some 5000 new cases on Sunday, and a peak of over 7000 late last week. This more than justifies Lara’s decision to cancel her events; the only quarrel one might have is her waiting so long to do so, when it was obvious the situation wasn’t improving. Other concerts (Christoph Mae, Matt Pokor, Slimane, and Vitaa) are still scheduled for September, even though it’s questionable that they will take place, so Lara wasn’t the only one waiting. Fans have noted that ‘Decibels Productions’ are responsible for the decisions on her tour in France, so they have to be the ones to officially cancel shows – but it’s likely they take their marching orders from Lara and her management. Note however, that given the current rules in France, Lara would still have been able to give her concerts had she wanted to, albeit with some restrictions.
Lara did refer to some ‘special projects’ in her announcement last week, and while all one can really do is speculate, she had previously mentioned a “confinement album” that she wanted to have ready by the end of the year. From her vague description of it, it sounded like her singing would be less of lyrics and more ‘mantra-like’. That could be quite interesting and unique, if it comes to pass. There is also the documentary that was being made of Lara's 50 World Tour, but it's likely that is on hold along with the tour - they certainly would want to include the shows in Paris.
So while we’re waiting for Lara’s projects to materialize, an interesting one involving Lara’s songs was reported on in actu.fr (https://actu.fr/pays-de-la-loire/nantes_44109/nantes-carine-beilvert-prepare-un-recital-en-hommage-a-lara-fabian_35613742.html):

Nantes. Carine Beilvert prepares a recital in tribute to Lara Fabian
The young singer from Nantes shot a clip in Pont Saint-Martin, in the setting of the Château de la Rairie. Carine Beilvert is preparing a recital with 25 songs by Lara Fabian.
Carine Beilvert, a young artist from Nantes aged 29, grew up with the songs of France Gall, Francis Cabrel, Céline Dion, Patrick Bruel, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Renaud, Michel Sardou.
But to show her admiration for Lara Fabian, she set out to create a 25-song recital, In Lara's Footsteps.
The project started at the end of June. Two demos are already on Youtube: “L'oubli” and “L'homme qui n'avait pas de maison”. "For the filming of the clip, I was looking for a place with a grand piano. Christelle and Willy Dublet graciously provided a room at the Château de la Rairie on the afternoon of July 24 for the filming of the clip."
A month later, this Monday, August 24, 2020, Carine Beilvert has just posted the video on YouTube.
This is the second time that the owners have hosted an artist. "We pay attention to the musical style so that it matches the image of the place," they specify. It is in this intimate setting that Carine, accompanied by Agatha, performed “Pas sans toi”.
Meetings through social networks
For the rest of the repertoire, “I work on a soundtrack or accompanied on the guitar by Marcel Tyko while waiting to find a pianist”. The musician from Saint-André des Eaux also takes care of logistics and recording at studio H, in Geneston. “All these beautiful encounters were made thanks to the magic of social networks,” says Carine, with a smile on her face.
Trained in musicals
Carine Beilvert has been playing the piano and practicing dance since the age of ten: modern, line, girly street jazz… But her real passion has been singing since the discovery of Jenifer and the L5s, this group of pop stars who were all the rage in 2001.
She joined the choir at her school, then began to take singing and guitar lessons. In 2017, she trained in musical comedy with Fanny Delaigue's masterclass (Aladin, Le Pirate et La Poupée, L'École des Petits Monstres, Résiste, Grease), then joined La troupe permanantes, a musical comedy association from Nantes.
The following year, she participated in singing masterclasses with professionals, such as Jasmine Roy. Since 2018, she has formed a piano / voice duo on a repertoire of covers of French and international songs.

One advantage of this project is that it could let people hear what wonderful songs Lara has produced in the second half of her career, ones that she never does in live concerts, which leads people to forget about them. Hopefully the choices for the rest of the 25 songs in this recital will show the same ingenuity as the first two demos.
Lara’s promotion of physical activity took an additional turn with the latest (talking) video, provided by her physical trainer, at

As she indicates, Lara does seem to find it effective, we’ve seen her using it in videos during the last month.
And so Lara did have one rentrée event after all.

A wonderful collection of Lara’s videos for a complete hour. The only strange thing is they go from the present (2019) backward in time…in effect, a de-evolution (unless one thinks the earlier work was better).
We’ll see how much Lara tries to keep in touch with fans, either by providing info on her daily activities or updates on the projects she’s working on. Normally one would say Lara will keep doing these things; however, in an interview last month she indicated fans would have to get used to fewer such contacts. Time will tell; stay safe everybody.
