In an otherwise quiet week, in an attempt to maintain connection with her audience, Lara posted a video explaining just why such a link exists, on both her Instagram and Facebook sites:
and

Here’s what it says:
------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian tells about: her link with the public.
“Now if one asks why I have this so particular link with the public, and how I have been able to maintain this link, I swear to you I have no answer to this question. Not at all. I would say to you it is not thanks to me, it is thanks to them. It is because they maintain this link, it is because they make this incredible thing which continues to survive, to love, to encourage, to promote in a certain way the artist that I am. And perhaps also because there is a very human rapport between them and me. If perhaps there is an element of which I can speak, beyond the songs which link us, beyond the times which tie us, it is perhaps the human aspect which ties us particularly. The fact that we have been stopping each other over time for years to know how we are going, that I recognize these faces and that I don’t forget them. That even in the invisible, even when it’s been most difficult, the memory of these faces has brought back to me the importance of continuing, of remaining standing. And I believe it is that, this link. It is temporal and human. And I think that's what creates its strength.”
----------------------------------------
Clearly Lara is hoping it will hold up in this time of little activity; Lara has to hope that when her tour is able to resume, the audiences will be interested in seeing her. Maintaining such interest is a burden for all performing artists in the current situation.
Lara included a variety of photos from the final of The Voice on her Facebook and Instagram sites,

Despite initial skepticism, Gustine acquitted herself quite well, finishing second in the audience voting. This is starting to be a little bit off-topic, but there was a nice article on her and her plans at (https://www.lavoixdunord.fr/766034/article/2020-06-17/apres-voice-et-un-buzz-inedit-gustine-prepare-deja-son-premier-album); here’s the translation:
----------------------------------
After "The Voice" and an unprecedented buzz, Gustine is already preparing her first album
She did not win this 9th season of "The Voice" which ended on Saturday, but Gustine intends to make a place for herself and announces that she is already preparing an album for the beginning of next year.
Last Saturday, there was not too much suspense, because if the four finalists had not stolen their place in the last square, one of them was a favorite, with rare unanimity on social networks . Abi won this particular edition of " The Voice " hands down , but in his wake, Gustine climbed onto the second step of the podium.
With her particular timbre, her singular personality and her harp, she annoyed some and seduced many others. Her flawless journey on the show had started in the most beautiful way with a cover of Marc Lavoine's Les Yeux Revolver, who had joined her for an improvised duo which will remain in the annals of the show. With a record at stake: it is the video of the program the most viewed before being broadcast on the air, ten million in three days. An unprecedented buzz for this program, the significant sequences of which are, however, always put online ahead of time to attract viewers. [It can be viewed at ].
Despite this lovely duet with coach Lavoine, Gustine had chosen, "by instinct", to make her way into the team of Lara Fabian. A choice she did not regret. Lara showed me "not the voice, but my way," she said in the final.
An artist's life before The Voice ... and after!
Before embarking on the adventure "The Voice", which she mistakenly thought unsuitable for her voice, Gustine (real name: Marine Bailleul) was already a musician. She played the harp on Albin de la Simone's latest album and accompanied other artists on stage, always on the harp.
By finishing second in "The Voice", she took advantage of the show's spotlight but without winning a contract with Universal. Which she sees on the bright side, since she intends to keep all her freedom. “For me, the main thing is to surround myself with people with whom I want to move forward. They must understand that I am someone who needs time and that I am not looking for the hit…”, she confides to L'Union . Gustine, who has "lots of compositions under her elbow", intends to prepare her album in this spirit of "freedom" and "autonomy" and to release it before next spring. Until then, she will not keep from enjoying her pleasure on stage and especially on local stages near her home, in the Marne. “I am a very loyal person and do not forget those who have always supported me. Responding to a proposal from the director of the Music Festival from here and elsewhere in Châlons is for example a priority." In Reims, where it could also happen, she also hopes to continue to lecture at Lieu, her singing school .
--------------------------------------
As to how the program did this year with the audience, the show launched with 5.19 million viewers, historically their worst launch ever, but still with 28.7% of the audience. So they were burdened somewhat with that from the get-go. By episode 9 it had gradually dropped to 4.36 million viewers and 21.4% audience share. In all that time it was still #1 in its time period. From March 21st (episode 10) until April 25th (episode 15) it was near or above 5 million views (boosted by the stay-at-home restraints), and some 19-20% of the audience. After being off the air for more than a month, the last two episodes in June garnered 3.9 million viewers, and the final, with just 17.9% of the audience, was not the winner in its time period.
Overall it’s hard to compare with previous seasons given the novel situation the country experienced, although through the first nine shows the audience was decreased relative to the previous season, which itself had been lower than the ones preceding it. We know the program is coming back next year; casting for the new show is available on-line at www.nouveautes-tele.com/3724-casting-the-voice-tf1-inscription.html. What if anything it will change in an attempt to gain a greater audience no one yet knows, though as it was still the winner in its time period, radical changes are probably not needed. We know from Lara’s responses that whether she will be part of it has not been determined, or at least that’s the public position. Whether she will want to/be able to keep coming back to France from Quebec is of course another issue, one that may also be tied in with the resumption of the French portion of her 50 World Tour. In both cases a lot depends on the virus and the state of the world next fall/winter.
In a video interview with telepro.be from two weeks back (https://www.telepro.be/people/lara-fabian-jai-beaucoup-appris-de-ce-confinement.html?fbclid=IwAR19-F_-MXRlf2I-D2Qt7HT_1FqpoHrc9_SsCI2Tp0LKFr8jDCFkY-4Bo7k), Lara made an interesting comment about her upcoming work:
-------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: "I learned a lot from this confinement"
On the occasion of the release of the reissue of her album “Papillon”, Lara Fabian gave us a video interview, broadcast on the Facebook page of Télépro.
Why did you reissue?
LF: It was a desire on the part of the team around me to make the album visible in conjunction with "The Voice". We improved the project with 3 new songs.
How did you experience this period of confinement from Quebec?
LF: From a personal point of view, I experienced it as a badly wrapped gift. It had been years since I had stopped, being able to be at home with my daughter and my husband was quite wonderful. This allowed me to write a little more.
Did you get to write a new album?
LF: I wrote something a little more experimental that I called “The Lockdown Sessions”. It is a musical project in which I used my voice as an instrument, I did not necessarily write texts but sentences which are mantras.
-------------------------------
The actual video interview can be seen at that link. In it, Lara talked about the new album and the three new songs. She also addressed The Voice, and some of the controversies associated with the public voting; nevertheless, Lara is fully supportive of it. Finally she was asked what singers she listens to on the radio; Michael Buble came first to mind.
And the idea of a new type of album sounds enticing…perhaps in some sense the ‘mantra’ like sounds can be considered a follow-up of the work Lara discussed in Le Secret.
This was of course part of the promotion for the re-release of Papillon. As to how it’s doing, on the Belgian chart it has dropped from #6 to #22. In France, somewhat surprisingly, it re-entered the charts at #12 (the best re-entry on the chart; undoubtedly the very strong influence of The Voice). And in Quebec, it has moved up to #5 for French language albums. All together a very strong showing for a re-issue, even granted that there are three new songs.
The interesting photo(s) of the week have to be the ones released for the finale of The Voice; take your pick from those linked to above…
In upcoming activity, as has been advertised for the last several weeks, Lara will be among the guests participating in a huge, free outdoor concert which kicks off the official celebrations of the National Day of Quebec. It takes place in the amphitheatre of Parc Jean-Drapeau on June 23 (tonight). The idea is to be mid-party when the clock strikes midnight and ring in the 24th (the actual National Day) “in style”. Other than that, there is nothing specific on Lara’s public calendar, but as we’ve seen, something often arises. Stay safe, everybody, especially as things start to open up.
