The lead item in what is normally a slow week for news, was the release of the remix of “Je suis a toi” by Moto Blanco. It can be hard at:
youtu.be/mwY9dwMBGxU
Since the original song was quite rhythmic to begin with, it’s not so easy to make a remix that’s distinctively different in that case. The remix differs primarily in maintaining a noticeable dance rhythm throughout much of the song. In whichever format, this is a very enjoyable song, and one that will probably play a strong role in any upcoming concerts.
Otherwise, there was some more reaction to the release of the music video for the song last week. Charts in France published their usual commentary on Lara’s work (http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Lara-Fabian/news-108968.html); here’s the translation:
----------------------------------
“Je suis a toi” clip: Lara Fabian savoring the little joys of daily love
Lara Fabian lives a passionate romance in the music video for "Je suis à toi", second excerpt from her new album "Papillon" to be released on February 8th. Look !
On February 8, Lara Fabian will return with her new French album "Papillon", which was made in all intimacy at her home in Montreal in only 10 days. "This album created entirely in Montreal, at home, resonates particularly in me. It is here that everything began, the symbolism is strong. I now count the days until it belongs to you," said the singer, sharing this good news with her fans. In the program are 11 titles "modern and timeless" sung in the language of Molière. After the international epic of "Camouflage"(2017), Lara Fabian wanted to give a more personal dimension to these new texts, to stick closer to her heart. The name of the album reveals moreover a quite particular significance: "The butterfly is my totem since I was very small. My grandmother called me farfalla, in Italian, so it's an animal that has always followed me." "Papillon" is also the title of the first single she released this fall, a pop piece in the form of "ode to lightness and gratitude " co-signed by Swedish producer Moh Denebi with help from Sharon Vaughn.
"For ever, I am yours"
"Papillon" will of course be presented on stage: rendez-vous in 2020 for a world tour that will mark her 50th anniversary! Lara Fabian will perform on her birthday, January 9, at the National Forest in Brussels, before writing her name in red letters on the front of the Olympia on March 24 and 25, 2020. The occasion for her audience to hear the sound of her new single "Je suis à toi" . On this romantic uptempo ballad, Lara Fabian abandons herself in the arms of her beloved: "My skin will remember all those moments / For ever, I am yours / And my soul will surrender, without the least fight / All, I'm yours". This happiness that lives only in two, the singer savored him with a smile on her lips in the video full of life which accompanies the song. The exalted spirit, Lara Fabian invites us into her daily life where every little moment passed with her companion is lived with tenderness. At this holiday season when we are approaching our own, this beautiful video gives balm to the heart!
-----------------------------------------------------
As noted last week, an unabashed romantic and sexy video, for a somewhat more complicated song. As pointed out on various websites, the music video was #1 watched on Palmarès ADISQ (Québec, Canada) [for Canadian artists in Quebec].
palmaresadisq.ca/fr/videos/plus-regardees/?fbclid=IwAR0uKJ3d8PEIaMko2cZj6Js4NLzg0Ic3-zGo-GHk9FEOmHJLgsQoOdb36q4
For those who haven’t seen it, the tracklist for the album Papillon is:
1. Papillon
2. Je suis à toi
3. Changer le jeu
4. Par amour
5. Je ne t'aime plus
6. Alien
7. Pardonne
8. Superman
9. Sans ton amour
10. L'animal
11. Alcyon
So the first two selections on the album have been the first two singles. And Lara’s comment that on this album the songs “stick closer to the heart” would seem to be born out by most of the titles.
As far as the tour is concerned, “Decibel Prod” provided an Event Announcement with what looks like an appropriate tour picture, at (thanks to the MZ FB site for the link):

Their accompanying text reads: “Event Announcement: 50 Lara Fabian's World Tour
After several years of absence, Lara announces her big comeback on stage for 2020, a tour event that will celebrate her entire career.

Of course, there were no “several years of absence”, there was the English album tour (and if one goes to the site listed, it says “after her last world tour “Camouflage”…). The site lists the Brussels and Paris shows (not the shows for Moscow and St. Petersburg), and offers one the opportunity to buy tickets.
For Christmas itself, Lara posted a picture of herself with her Christmas tree behind her, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.622966977744803/2477959002245582/?type=3&theater
and the caption of ‘Merry Christmas”!

with the caption, “Quebecissime! A wonderful show that connects us to the roots of Quebec and its holiday tradition. Thank you to all the exceptional artists who made us live a magical moment!” Here Lara is referring to a musical comedy, Quebec Issime” performed at the Theatre Maisonneuve in the Place des Arts. There’s a brief discussion of it at (https://www.newswire.ca/fr/news-releases/la-feerie-de-noel-sempare-de-la-place-des-arts---une-programmation-etincelante-pour-tous-les-gouts-701804801.html), translated below:

December, the holiday musical signed Québec Issime - December 13 to 30 - several times available | Maisonneuve Theater
The Issime troupe is proud to welcome Marc Hervieuxas, Mayor of the municipality, Onésime Lemaire, surrounded by all the other legendary characters who will pass an evening in the traditional village located under the Christmas tree. 24 artists on stage in sets and sumptuous costumes, and breathtaking performances through 12 fairy scenes.
---------------------------------------------------
Lara also used her Instagram site to offer up a short segment of her singing “White Christmas”, which appeared on the European version of the PBS show “From Lara With Love”. Her post appears at:
If you want to see the full video, it can be found at:
The audio of that version, which I believe was actually released as a single by Sony, shows up occasionally on radio, even in the U.S.
TVA and La Voix are not missing from the news this Christmas: Lara will be on a program promoting the 7th season of the show next Sunday, January 6th at 7 PM (Canadian EST). The video promo for it, showing Lara and Anouk Meunier. can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/ReseauTVA/videos/1779506342158188/
In year-end news, the songs that topped the Palmares ADISC charts in Quebec in 2018 were listed at:
palmaresadisq.ca/fr/les-choix-de/les-1-de-lannee-2018/?fbclid=IwAR2TKLoYinLri_uZfUvHWz5bvhOzxn7QF9q-A1D7NlwZWmKxevVf3lSCFv4
As can be seen, both “Je t’aime” and “Chameleon” had that honor during the year (thanks to Anthony Berenguer Degiovanni for the link).
Interesting photo(s) from the week: from the Lara Fabian – PHQ site,
www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/a.353954938084519/1615424125270921/?type=3&theater
with the caption “Joyeux Noël ! Merry Christmas ! Buon Natale! ¡ Feliz Navidad!”
Very appropriate.
By next week, the holidays will be over, and Lara will be busy starting the public promotion for La Voix, as indicated above. The show itself will not begin broadcasting until February – as can be seen in the poster at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/a.353954938084519/1614552732024727/?type=3&theater
This is also (probably not coincidentally) when Lara’s new album will come out. We should expect some more promotion for that as well coming up in the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see how the potential conflicts or reinforcements of these two activities will play out in 2019 (and perhaps 2020).
Thanks you for reading these updates - and Happy New Year to Lara and to ALL OF YOU – may it be a healthy one for you and yours, and fulfill your grandest expectations!
Meanwhile, for a look back at 2018, see the accompanying thread YEAR IN REVIEW 2018. [And next week the News Updates will return to their normal Tuesday appearance].
