Many stories this week (and so a very long update), covering Lara’s overseas adventures, the latest airing of La Voix in Montreal, plus Lara’s appearances on the TV shows ‘La vraie nature’ and “Les Enfants de la Tele” in Quebec. In addition, a number of long interviews appeared. Certainly one of the most media-filled weeks of the year for her.
Starting as usual with her live concerts, Lara had her show in St. Petersburg, then moved on to Kiev. In both places her concerts were very well received. However, in Kiev there was one novel aspect: the cancellation of the third show, set for March 4th. According to Lara’s people the problem concerned the organizing company, “Rockguard Agency”. Here’s their statement (made on 3-3):
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“The organizers have informed us that they are not able to ensure the conditions required to conduct the third show (Sunday, March 4th), and that they are not able to pay, as of today, the artist, band, technical crew, and costs as foreseen in our agreement for any of the two remaining concerts.
We deeply regret this situation, caused by financial troubles, unrelated to our concerts, of the Ukrainian company "Rockguard Agency" .
Despite this situation, Ms. Fabian refuses to see the Ukrainian fans being penalized further through a cancellation of tonight’s concert too (concert of Saturday, March 3rd).
We will therefore maintain the concert tonight, and Ms. Lara Fabian will be performing this evening Saturday, March 3rd, for a second concert in Kiev, despite the fact that the financial conditions are, as of today, not fulfilled by the company "Rockguard Agency" and that due payments haven not been received.”
------------------------------------------------------------------
Very charitable on Lara’s part to perform the second concert without having received payment, for the sake of the fans. What was done was that people who had tickets for the third concert were offered tickets for the first two shows (apparently the ticket holders for that 3rd show were warned ahead of time that it was in doubt).
This past week we received a number of high quality videos of the show in Moscow on 2-25 (thanks to Alena), and also some from Kiev (3-2 and 3-3) [these are again indicated with asterisks at the end]. Starting with the earliest performance:

In conjunction with Lara’s show in Kiev, she gave a long interview to the ‘World News.net” (https://theworldnews.net/ua-news/lara-fabian-fanaty-skhvatili-menia-u-studii-bylo-ochen-strashno) (in Russian). Here’s the (google) translation:
--------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: "The fans grabbed me at the studio - it was very scary"
The famous performer in an exclusive interview with "Today" told about what will surprise Ukrainian audiences (March 2, 3, 4, in the "Ukraine" Palace), as well as the manifestation of fanaticism, ideal love and the benefits of participating in a talent show.
"Lara, how will you be amazed this time?" Imagine your show for people who have never been to your performances .
LF: Camouflage World Tour is a show that consists of songs from the new Camouflage album, as well as the most famous hits from my previous albums. I will be performing accompanied by a fantastic band from Sweden. I would say that this show reflects the different sides of my identity as an artist. There is pop, there are touching ballads about love, classical orchestrations and modern sounds. We threw a challenge - to ourselves and fans - in the first part of the world tour, which takes place in the US, and the fans liked it. I'm looking forward to the Kiev premiere of the show.
- How do you set yourself up for the performance? How do you relax after?
LF: On the day of the concert I try to rest as much as possible, I do not give interviews, I do not engage in other professional activities: I try to protect my voice. And a few hours before the show I do my special vocal exercises - this is very important. And after the concert - immediately to sleep: I'm not a fan of parties and dinner parties.
- You said that you love to cook. What's your favorite dish at the moment? Something from the Ukrainian cuisine prepared themselves?
LF: I like to cook and eat. I grew up in Italian cuisine, next to my Italian mom, so my favorite dishes are those recipes I learned from my mother and grandmother. Unfortunately, I'm not well acquainted with Ukrainian cuisine to be able to cook something Ukrainian, but when I'm in Ukraine, I always have a great meal. I even know your names: borsch, vareniki, deruny ... Some dishes I have not tried yet, but I've heard the name.
- How did you leave the musical film "Mademoiselle Zhivago", which was filmed in Kiev?
LF: It was a special project - with fantastic songs and great stories that were told through the cinema. The songs from the recording "Mademoiselle Zhivago" have long become an integral part of my repertoire, and the videos, parts of this film, are enjoyed by my fans around the world on YouTube.
- Many women face a choice - family or career. How do you manage to combine this? Give advice, perhaps, for those in such a situation to do.
LF: Sometimes this can be a problem in terms of planning the agenda. Like any woman who works, I need to find time for both my family and work. I try to spend enough time with my family, especially with my daughter. There is such a rule: to stay out of the house no longer than two weeks.
"Your daughter has a very rare name, Lou." Why did you stop on her? Is there any desire to give Lou a brother or sister?
LF: "Being a mother is a gift that pushes everything else in your life to the background. If you have a child, it becomes a top priority. Everything else is secondary. Lou is not the most common name, but there are many children with that name in France or Canada, for example. Some I know personally. And as for my girl having sisters ... My husband and I do not plan to expand our family.
- What was the most incredible manifestation of bigotry in your address? What was the most unusual rumor about you?
LF: When I was making a career in France, there was one moment. I left the studio in the evening, and the fans were waiting for me near the door. They jumped out and just grabbed me! I did not understand who these people are, what they are going to do with me. Steal? Somehow hurt me? Thank God, nothing like that - just hug. But, I admit, it was scary. But this was only once: in general, my fans are very respectful of me, they are hard to call fanatical, rabid and so on. As for fakes ... In the era of social networks, at every turn, lies some kind of fiction, disinformation, but in my case it's from the category of "come / will not come." Not about personal: because I have a calm, measured family life, I'm protected from dirty gossip. In addition, I directly communicate with fans in social networks, so all the rumors can quickly and easily dispel.
- What is the difference between performing at a stadium and a nightclub?
LF: I practically do not perform in nightclubs and stadiums, my concerts are necessarily a concert hall or a theater. I do not like crowds and noise, closeness to the audience is very important to me. And what kind of intimacy and mutual understanding of the artist and the audience can there be when you are singing, and the audience at the bar is drinking a cocktail or beer, and talking to friends about something? In the club, it's not the artist who is primary for a person, but the opportunity to communicate, get acquainted, and have a good time. These are not my playgrounds. Not with my repertoire, it seems to me.
- Do you like to sing your songs?
LF: As soon as I publicly perform the song I wrote, she begins to live her life. Everyone can sing it if he wants, and I will not know. There are a lot of my songs, which were later performed by other artists, and they did it brilliantly. Broken Vow, for example, has become very successful in the repertoire of Josh Groban in the United States. Moreover, I myself enjoy singing other people's songs, if I think they correspond to my musical identity. I even released two albums of cover songs that my colleagues sang to me, and which I really appreciate.
- What is your attitude to plastic surgery?
LF: "I have no objection to aesthetic surgery, it's the choice of every woman-whether to resort to it or not." I have not done this yet, but maybe in the future I will decide, why not? (smiles). Although I am very reluctant to do anything that is unhealthy or risky for my health. The most important thing is not to look forever young, but to gracefully grow old and be in good health. Every age has its own beauty. I am happy with life, I try to live here and now and do not care that in 10-15 years I will have more noticeable wrinkles.
- What was your first job? How easy is it to part with money?
LF: My first unforgettable work related to music began: I, as a teenager, wanted to buy something in a boutique that was quite expensive for me at that time. And my father invited me to go out into the street, sing and make money to buy. We played together, he played for me a guitar. And as soon as we collected enough money, I went to a boutique and bought a dress that I dreamed of! But I'm not a spender: I know the price of money, and I know that it needs to be earned, no one will give it for nothing.
- Have you ever been lucky to experience the ideal love that you dreamed of as a child? They say that all creative people should be a bit in love all the time. Do you agree?
LF: "Love is the most important thing in our life." I was lucky to find love, yes. What is the meaning of this word? For me it is, above all, trust. This creativity, this miracle is something that is difficult to explain. About love stories great songs are written, but great songs are also written about the rupture and pain. Artists are often very emotional, but that does not mean that they are always in love. Or that they must be in love to be creative people. Here is another question: is there a talent or not. If there is even a grain of it, you sing so much about love, what others think: "This woman is exactly in love!". Or: "This man tells us his own, personal history."
- How do you feel about the talent show? If you had to build a career from scratch, would you take such a chance?
LF: Definitely yes! A television show, such as "The Voice", is a fantastic opportunity for beginning artists. When I started, there were no such opportunities. However, the participant must have a correct, adequate idea of such shows and understand why he is going there. If the goal is to present your music to the public, open your soul, then the show is a fantastic chance. But if you only want to get on the screen and become recognizable, it's unlikely that you will achieve much: people feel everything, sooner or later you will understand, you will understand your true motivation. The audience loves not just talent, but honest talent. I like being a judge in The Voice of Canada, which is called La Voix. This is a fantastic experience: sometimes I do not teach, but I myself study! And an artist should never be reluctant to learn from others.
- What are the most incredible tortures over your body you've ever had?
LF: My diet is a healthy diet. Not today, it's not said yesterday: we are what we eat. I'm not sure that "torturing" itself, starving and dieting for weight loss is the way to physical or mental well-being. Rather, to frustration. But not fortunately for sure. If a person, having excess weight, is at odds with himself, then where is the guarantee that, losing weight by two, he will fall in love with himself? Suddenly it will start to irritate not the folds on the abdomen, which will disappear, but the nose with a hump? Or will the color of the eyes appear dull? Or the skin is not flat enough? I'm just trying not to overeat. And as for the products ... Well, there is no such thing, without which I will live upright. But many products that I avoid, because I know: they have no health benefits, it's synthetic, unnatural. And if I eat this, it may not be good for me.
- A trip to which country left an indelible impression? What kind of rest do you prefer - calm, relaxing or, conversely, active, extreme?
LF: I need so little! I like to rest under the sun of Italy, on my mother's island, in Sicily. I like to be in the countryside, to walk around the beautiful lakes or in the forest in Quebec. I love snow in winter and sand on the beach in summer - everything is prosaic, see, no extreme. A little activity, a little relaxation, a good balance and the lack of excesses and excesses is what suits me.
- And finally, admit: what are you dreaming about at the moment?
LF: I like what I'm doing now. I like to travel around the world with a concert tour and share my music with the audience. It is now, today. And tomorrow will be tomorrow ...

As for La Voix: the fourth evening of the blind auditions took place, and Lara picked up two new members of her team. Lara posted the following (translated) statement on her website:
--------------------------------------------------
THIS BEAUTIFUL 4th-round evening began with the acquisition of a high-precision talent, that of Jean-Alexandre. In my eyes, it's a voice, with a big V!
The beautiful surprise to hear Leah the splendid, the one who collects the many colors in her voice by her so unique sound!
Welcome to both of you in #équipelara
Thanks to La Voix for this beautiful evening that continues now at La vraie nature on TVA! [discussed further below].
·------------------------------------------------------
She then posted a photo of the two of candidates, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/pcb.1951464721561682/1951456394895848/?type=3&theater
Both of their videos are available; for Jean-Alexandre, it is at:
tva.canoe.ca/emissions/lavoix/videos/audition-a-laveugle-de-jean-alexandre-boisclair-la-voix-6
and for Leah, at:
tva.canoe.ca/emissions/lavoix/videos/audition-a-laveugle-de-leah-west-la-voix-6
Watching this show, one is continually struck by how much the judges have to ‘grovel’ for the contestants, praising them beyond any semblance of reality. Lara plays the game as well as anyone: Lara, Alex and Garou all have 10 members to their team, while Eric has 9. They need 12 to go forward.
An “extra” video produced by La Voix, going backstage with the four coaches, was made available, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabian.artist/videos/1296909667119659/
Lara is first up, explaining again how this was a great gift to her.
BTW, for those who want to see ‘Josh Adams’, who joined Lara’s team last week but without a video available, the whole show can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/larafabian.artist/videos/1300210996789526/
and Josh Adams appears starting at about the 1 hour 2 minute mark.
Associated with Lara’s appearance on La Voix, TVA is continuing to arrange numerous media appearances for her. One is an interview in 'La Semaine' which can be viewed at (https://www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/pcb.1346444675502202/1346444348835568/?type=3&theater). Lara Fabian : A Great Change in her Life
Born in Belgium and having Italian roots, Lara Fabian is also Quebecoise by heart. Scarcely had she left our corner of the country that she secretly dreamed of returning here. It is with the hope of returning the love of the people of ‘la Belle Province’ that she moved to Quebec with her small family, last Autumn. A great change which carries with it for her happiness!
Marie-Helen Goulet
Lara, after 14 years of absence from the country, your presence on La Voix 6 gives Quebecois the occasion to realize how much they have missed you. Did you expect the love story between yourself and Quebec to revive so intensely?
LF: Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. I felt a little like a child who returns home, in her family, after an absence of 14 years, and who timidly hopes that the doors will be opened, a meal will await on a table, lit by a candle, and she will have a big embrace. I didn’t expect this welcome, but my God, how I hoped for it!
How did you react when you were offered the chance to become a coach on La Voix?
LF: I recall exactly when I received the call from the production, It was August 28th. I was in the kitchen and I shook. I then said to my husband: “Perhaps they would want to see Quebec again.” It is a secret dream that I have cherished since my departure.
It was courageous on your part to return to Quebec while moving your family with you. Was the decision difficult to take?
LF: It was big for my daughter, who is 11, and my husband, especially since we were installed in our new home for barely nine months. We began there a new life. But having suffered through the first shock, Gabriel and Lou said to me, “You know, my love, you know, mama, we are with you. We don’t want to live that far from you.” When Fate makes you a gift like that, it is necessary to seize it. Overnight our life resembled an nth compilation of suitcases.
How was your return to Quebecoise soil?
When we arrived, Sunday October 8th, we had neither house nor school for Lou, our goods boiled down to six suitcases. We have been welcomed by an extraordinary family, the Balit-Rouleau, which during almost a month, let us find our point of reference. The two children of the family permitted Lou to arrived quite gently here, since she got up each morning at their side. The father, Steven, passed some hours explaining to my husband how life unfolded in Montreal, which put Gabriel almost at ease – and even more – me also. And Anie served as the second mother to Lou during the hours my occupation was monopolized with La Voix .
Had you known these people a long time?
LF: They are people who I had seen less than twelve times beforehand. Anie was the sister of my good friend Martin, but they welcomed us like members of their own family. It is that, Quebec, for me. It is profoundly anchored in the DNA of this country to be a land of welcome without judgment and without compromise. It is a land which is constructed its heritage on this faculty of love and unconditional welcome for the other.
You seem to take great pleasure on the stage of La Voix. What is it that pleases you in your role of Coach?
LF: It is a return to the essential. I have the impression of returning to that which is the beacon of my life, that is to say to transmit an emotion and create links with the other so as to contribute to his well-being, thanks to my baggage and my experience.
What can you say on the subject of your three coach colleagues?
LF: We truly love each other a lot. I find them all as interesting and beautiful, one as the others. Garou, he is the boy who, thanks to his great integrity, always brings us back to our profound nature. Eric, he is the man who reconnects us to our heart and our sensitivity. He is so modest, but also so sensible under his rock star allure! He is someone who tells us how that vibrates on the inside. And Alex, he is the little working dream, which goes to look for what is lightest in us. He is light, but at the same time, deeply anchored.
Often, you have been moved while recounting your memories of childhood during the blind auditions. How do you explain these vague emotions?
LF: It is true that the little girl in me is returned very strongly in the foreground. It believe that it is because the small Lara is very present when I live in Quebec. One gives here the possibility of re-finding the little one in ourselves. It is not a problem, in Quebec, to let the child be seen in oneself in all its candor, its fragility and its enthusiasm. We are not judged for that, here.
Exactly what type of child was the little Lara?
LF: I was a bright and cheerful child. I had a good personality, but I remained obedient. I was also a little bizarre in the eyes of other children of my time, for I was truly passionate about music. By singing all the time, I didn’t enter into the normal of the European-type child. Me, I believed that was normal, since in my home, papa and mama were music lovers. That was part of my daily life. I undoubtedly disturbed the most Cartesian. That remains what defines me as a person.
You sang often with your father. What had he been for you: your greatest fan or your mentor?
LF: Our relationship was complex, but very evolutive over time. In his way, my father probably has been the one who has most nourished my dream of becoming an artist.
The success wasn’t instant, despite the talent. It was necessary to have a lot of discipline, isn’t that so?
LF: Yes, and with papa, there was the discipline, but also the motivation, and little compromise. Sometimes, he kicked my buttocks, as they say, but he had to.
Did you understand, at that moment, that that rigor was necessary?
LF: I understood it, because my mother explained it to me next with gentleness. There was that which was marvelous in the education: when one parent pulls, the other pushes. It is a beautiful equilibrium. I must however say that I have never been prevented from being a child.
What values transmitted by your parents seem to you the most important today?
LF: Among the important values transmitted by my parents to me, there is loyalty, integrity, generosity, and the art of living. They have taught me the art of contemplating a simple meal with gratitude and the one of always being filled with wonder before a splendid panorama.
Do you recognize them in your way of raising Lou?
LF: Oh yes! it is inevitable; it is almost genetic. I recognize father, when, sometimes, when I demand too much of my daughter. Then, when I see it and that I am protecting her, I adopt the reflexes of my mother.
They are far from you now. How do you manage the absence?
LF: I travel a lot, which permits me to cross their path. Also, everyday, I thank the technology, which permits me to make video calls with them.
Your mother suffers from a terrible malady (dementia of Lewy Bodies). In what manner do you go through this test?
LF: It is the feeling of powerlessness which is terrible. what can I do but hold her hand and show resilience?
Have you arrived at being resilient?
LF: That depends on the day. Sometimes, after a visit, I become irritable and I just desire to escape into my sadness. Then, I see my beautiful girl on the back seat of the car and my lover who drives in silence, while waiting for me to return to myself. Then I reason with myself and I tell myself that mama would want that I be strong and occupy myself with my family.
In addition to La Voix, you are on a full world tour: this series of shows leads you to the United States, to Russia, while passing by Greece. How do you fell, on tour?
LF: It is quite “athletic” the tour. All unfolds in a very strict manner – the short nights, the traveling, the meals – so that I be in optimal form for the two hours of the show of the evening. I have enormous respect for all the spectators who have bought a ticket and how traveled to see me. It want to be at the top.
Do you bring Gabriel and Lou with you?
LF: No, but I make a compromise of never leaving for more than 10 days. A week without mama, it is manageable.
What is the connection between your husband, Gabriel, and your daughter, Lou?
LF: It is a cosmic connection! When I leave on tour, Gabriel at the same time is father and mother. He watches over Lou with such attentive care that sometimes, on my return, she calls him ‘mother’ by reflex. Lou, on her side, is transformed into a true little Lara when I leave. She makes sure that Gabriel goes well and I can leave and tells me about it considerately. She doesn’t want him to suffer in my absence, and goes up to him to cook a little something.
Do you think that Lou will follow your tracks?
LF: It is difficult to say. She has one such heritage that comes from my side, but there is also the influence of Gabriel, who is in her life for six years (Lou was born from the union of Lara and the director Gerard Pullicino, in 2007), Gabriel is a magician and a fantastic musician. She is always in contact with our creativity. She sings, dances, paints, plays the piano and creates some astonishing objects. She is very stimulated.
How is her adaptation on Quebec soil going?
LF: Mothers have the tendency to heap praise on their children, but me, I am very lucid on the strengths and weaknesses of my daughter. It is something that I keep preciously for myself. I can nevertheless tell you that she has an immense heart and that she does all so as to go towards others, despite the cultural shock. She wants to love others.
Are you going to stay here?
LF: I would say that yes, but one never knows where the career could lead us. Let us say that I leave this question in suspense, but I must admit that my heart would like to stay in Quebec.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wonderfully revealing interview.
And then one was published in the ‘Coup de Pouce” (http://www.coupdepouce.com/loisirs/loisirs-et-culture/article/entrevue-avec-lara-fabian). Here’s the translation:

Interview with Lara Fabian
BY LAURA MARTIN
As she launches this winter in the well-oiled carousel of La Voix , the famous performer begins a world tour for the release of her 13th studio album. Meeting with a passionate one.
Several years have passed since the last time we saw you in the area ...
LF: I left Quebec in 2004 under special circumstances. Let's just say that this long absence is part of the vagaries of life. This is where I knew my first great success and I am happy.
It seemed quite natural that you become a coach at La Voix. Why do you think your ballads are so popular with contestants?
LF: My songs are probably chosen for the high technical level they require, but also because they serve as vehicles for a message. In the deployment of the notes, there is an emotion. Moreover, the voices that turn to me are those connected to the heart. If, in addition to the beauty of its fabric, a voice offers such a connection, it becomes unsettling, almost material.
On your new album, Camouflage, we hear no fireworks exploding in the refrain, which represented your signature. Does this nuanced interpretation come from a conscious choice?
LF: Without seeming unnatural, one must not live outside one's time. Traveling on four octaves, it was fashionable in the 1990s. Moreover, the great exploits that we make at 25 years old bear witness to immaturity. At that age, it's very sincere. At 50, it's caricatural and inappropriate. I am no longer that girl who sang as if she were going to die tomorrow, but a woman who lives in the present moment.
What did you want with this English-language album with electropop beats?
LF: Since our time is dark, I wanted solar songs. At the heart of this completely absurd desert crossing, I approach prismatic and universal topics, such as openness to others and resilience.
What can you say about your singing school project?
LF: I have known for a long time that the second part of my life will be spent in transmission. I confirmed this intuition by giving master classes and now experimenting with this role at La Voix. This project will not develop elsewhere than in Quebec.
-------------------------------------------------------
Finally, there was this article in the ‘Journal of Montreal’ (http://www.journaldemontreal.com/2018/03/02/le-week-end-culturel-de-lara-fabian); again, here’s the translation:
----------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian Cultural Weekend
What book recently called to you?
LF: The book Eat 2: The Dead and the Living from author Gilles Lartigot, a man I respect a lot for his thoughts on nutrition and the consequences of eating certain foods. I read his previous book and I'm finishing the second. It's really very interesting. The author is not an opinionist or a lobbyist, but rather someone who wishes to transmit the results of his research based on scientific information. It is a kind of chronicle of society in the sense of toxicity and offers us alternatives. For example, he will not tell us not to eat meat, but he tells us how it is produced. I see it as a documentary. These comments go much further than food. It's food for the soul!
What is the next movie to see?
LF: I dream to see the film The Greatest Showman ( The Master of the stage) with Hugh Jackman, which I have not yet had the opportunity to see. This is the story of PT Barnum, a man who, after having lost his job, succeeded in creating a show that will become a worldwide success. I saw the trailer with the song ‘This is Me’, and I was bowled over. Otherwise, considering the films I have seen, I will give a shout out to ‘Still Alice’ for the exceptional acting of actress Julianne Moore.
What is the show that seduced you?
LF: I just saw Requiem by Russian choreographer Boris Eifman in Les Grands Ballets Canadiens at Salle Wilfrid Pelletier. It's probably one of the most disturbing ballets I've ever seen in my life. It is magic! I was deeply moved. I am particularly moved by the vision of a body that defies the laws of weightlessness.
What music do you take pleasure in listening to?
LF: I recently discovered Brendon Urie, this boy from the American group, Panic! at the Disco. I particularly like their album Death of a Bachelor which is absolutely extraordinary. Otherwise, on the French side, I turn over on Amylie, this young Quebec singer. She is a very touching woman.
Who in the artistic world arouses your admiration?
LF: Since an artist like him is still here after 25 years of work with the same intensity, the same integrity and his immense heart, I am very appreciative of Eric Lapointe , whom I’m next to on the show La Voix . In Quebec, I think he is one of the very great ones. There is an incredible intensity in his art.
WE FOLLOW LARA FABIAN

Diplomatic of Lara to choose Eric, who is also often her biggest competitor for the contestants.
Also of great interest, was the show ‘La Vraie Nature’ which aired following La Voix.. A Twitter picture of the participants can be found at:
twitter.com/hashtag/LaVraieNature?src=hash
The show itself can be found (thanks to the larafabian.artist FB site) at:
www.facebook.com/larafabian.artist/videos/1294832740660685/
Lara was her usual wonderful self, interesting, honest, laughing, crying and overall, very personal.
We saw a quite interesting clip from it discussed in last week’s News Update, about why Lara really came to Quebec. ; it starts at ~9:10 of this video.
Two short videos of Lara singing karaoke for the show, are available at:
www.facebook.com/JeanPhilippeDionOfficiel/videos/1094157567402654/
and singing New York, New York,
www.facebook.com/JeanPhilippeDionOfficiel/videos/1094140194071058/ (also at 37:15 on the longer video)
Lara started talking about her career and about meeting Rick Allison at the 17:50 mark.
But the most sensational event occurred following the segment that began at around the 26 minute mark. Lara was shown on the Sonia Benezra program from 1993, with her parents and getting a gold disc. That led to the issue of Lara’s final leaving of Quebec and Rick, around 27:20; and concluded, starting at around 29:05, with a recording of Rick singing “Je t’aime” to her. His singing can also be seen in the following short segment,
www.facebook.com/Lavraienature/videos/2095848177301315/
The Internet in Quebec exploded after the Lara/Rick segment, with many articles and responses. Here is a sampling:
First, a short article about it in the Journal do Montreal (http://www.journaldemontreal.com/2018/03/04/lara-fabian-parle-avec-beaucoup-demotion-de-sa-rupture-avec-rick-allison), translated below:
-----------------------------------------------------------
During her appearance at the show ‘La vraie nature’ this Sunday, the singer Lara Fabian has engaged in one of the most difficult moments of her life, her break with Rick Allison.
Singer of ‘I Will Love Again’ says after the break, she had to leave Quebec, saying she had lost everything.
After 13 years of collaboration, it was on March 17, 2003 that the links broke between Lara Fabian and producer Rick Allison.
With a lot of emotions, the singer of Belgian origin talked about the decision to start talking about her former partner again.
By cons, Jean-Philippe Dion had prepared a surprise for the singer. He had a recording of Allison singing “Je t’aime” especially for Lara Fabian.
The singer could not hold back her tears.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Another article appeared at: (http://www.envedette.ca/stars/television/la-vraie-nature-lara-fabian-fond-en-larmes-en-parlant-de-sa-rupture-1.3662095). Here again is the translation:
----------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian confided about her break with producer Rick Allison . To this day, this is one of the most difficult events of her life.
After 13 years of love, the lovebirds separated in 2003. The heart broken, the star then left Quebec to join her mother.
" I did not want to leave. (...) I went back to my mother and told her that I had lost everything. The most serious thing is that I had lost him. He was everything to me. There was nobody in the world I loved more. No one in the world whom I trusted more. No one. I would say that never again will I love someone or I will trust someone like that.
----------------------------------------------------------
And then, a little more in Hollywoodpq.com (http://hollywoodpq.com/lara-fabian-souvre-sur-sa-rupture-dechirante-avec-lamour-de-sa-vie/):
--------------------------------------------------------------------
There are these encounters that we never get over again, and Lara Fabian knows something about them. When Pier-Luc Funk also examined her first time at “La vraie nature”, the legendary singer spoke with touching confidences about the separation that caused her to leave Quebec for 15 years. On March 17, 2003, she recalls, the end of her long-standing relationship with Canadian artist Rick Allison marked a test that took years to recover.
"He was everything to me. All. There was nobody in the world whom I loved more, no one in the world in whom I had more confidence, nobody. And I would say that never again will I love someone or trust someone like that, "she says. It is only recently that the two former lovers have gotten back in touch, "13 years, six months and 13 days" after their heartbreaking breakup. "I just wanted to say thank you for making me someone better."
Jean-Philippe Dion reserved a big surprise for the one who now holds a judge's seat in La Voix . It was an absolutely shocking recording where Rick was keen to repeat the greatest success of the singer, “Je t’aime”, an interpretation that took on a whole new meaning in the light of the great love that united them for 15 years.
"The most important thing for me today is that there is no more anger, it is that there is no more trouble, it is that there is no rancor, no hate," said Lara Fabian .
Married since 2013 to the magician Gabriel Di Giorgio , the artist has fortunately never renounced love. One can only admire the way she has let herself be carried all her life by her passion and intensity! This episode of ‘La vraie nature’, with Pier-Luc Funk and Josélito Michaud , is available here!
------------------------------------------------------------
And one more, with yet some more insight (https://www.msn.com/fr-ca/divertissement/celebrite/%C2%AB-la-vraie-nature-%C2%BB-lara-fabian-craque/ar-BBJTmMg):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"True nature": Lara Fabian cracks
Usually rock-solid, Lara Fabian was shaken during the filming of “La vraie nature”.
While we are accustomed to seeing a Lara Fabian as powerful as her voice during her appearances on the screen, she is a very vulnerable and very emotional singer who we were allowed to discover in the broadcast. of ‘La vraie nature’ this Sunday.
It is that Fabian returned to the 13 year relationship with Rick Allison, and the end of it, in 2003.
While archive images appear and give impact to the questions of Jean-Philippe Dion, and that we see there notably a very young Lara Fabian receive her first gold record, the emotion is already palpable on the face of the latter.
But it is when Dion reminds Fabian that she was "accused" in the past of having "left Quebec" that the singer cracks.
Visibly still marked by this period, Lara Fabian speaks clearly of the date of "March 17, 2003", and reveals that it was her break with Rick Allison that propelled her departure from Quebec, an event that made her believe that she had "lost everything" when she returned to her mother's house.
"He was everything to me," says Lara Fabian.
Jean-Philippe Dion then offers an excerpt from Rick Allison who sings ‘Je t’aime”, a "troubling" moment of reparation, according to Lara Fabian.
---------------------------------------------------------------
The response of the public to Lara’s appearance on the show, especially to this segment, was overwhelmingly positive. Here are just some of the comments placed on ‘La vraie nature’ FB site (https://www.facebook.com/Lavraienature/) (translated):

And…Lara was on Les Enfants de la Tele (on radio-canada). It can be found (again thanks to the larafabian.artist FB site), at:
www.facebook.com/larafabian.artist/videos/1302579459886013/
The idea behind this show is to have guests who have ‘grown up’ on TV, with appearances throughout their career. Lara is the perfect poster child for this, as they could use clips from her Canadian TV appearances between 1991 and 1997, and then various clips from Belgium and French TV, throughout the program. The panelists were clearly super impressed by Lara’s history, including her singing, and all the various legends of French song that she has performed with. One imagines that some of the audience wasn’t even alive when her past Quebecoise experiences were occurring.
Taking a step back, it is truly remarkable what is happening here. Lara is like the famous child who has come home, a star whose magnitude eclipses everyone around her. She seems like she is rapidly taking over, becoming once again a star of the highest magnitude and popularity in Quebec. The audience for ‘La Voix’ was 1.9 million (not counting those who saw it on their computer); this was about 3 times larger than those who watched the Oscars there. The audience for ‘La vraie nature’ was 1.1 million, 38% of the market, which was greeted with amazement by the show’s producers (who wrote, “Wow! A huge thank you for being so many at the appointment! “). Who would have thought this even two years ago?
Before leaving Brussels entirely behind, Lara did speak about the city in an online flight magazine, ‘Concierges” (http://online.fliphtml5.com/vatpe/wdls/). Lara’s contribution can be found on p. 57 or p. 60 (depends on the platform one’s using). The article is actually in English, copied below:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Brussels has a special place in my life and in my heart. First of all, it is the city where I was born. But beyond the fact that this is my hometown, I believe that Brussels has so many qualities that make it very attractive as a city to discover, as a visitor, but also as a city to live in.
Brussels is full of contrasts. On the one hand, it is the Capital of the European Union, and hosts the headquarters of NATO, and various other organizations. This comes along with a presence of a large community of residents across Europe, that add to its multicultural background, creating a mixture that is probably unique in the world. Where else can you have a dinner with friends where you are seated around a table with people from Malta, Estonia, Ireland and Scotland, drinking together Belgian beer, and enjoying the excellent food we Belgians are starting to be known for across the world. Even our local dialect is a hybrid of French, filled with words of Flemish origins and expressions. At the same time, Brussels, has this quality of not taking itself too serious; We have a tradition that goes back from the surrealist artists such as Magritte, up to Philippe, passing from the Smurfs to Philippe Goluck’s “Cat”.
The sound of Jacques Brel’s voice or Stromoe’s music and poetry couldn’t emanate from anywhere other than Brussels. Neighboring London has its Big Ben, Paris the Eiffel Tower, Cologne the “Dom”, but Brussels chose the “Manneken Pis” as its symbol. I believe this is very representative of the spirit of this great, small, world city…
Being a small country, and having this unique mixture of Latin and Germanic cultures in our DNA, defines the energy you feel, that is vibrant and laid back, modest and honest at the same time.
Cities are no only about buildings and museums, of which Brussels has several that would compete with other world cities.
I believe that what makes Brussels a lovable city is mostly its people the Bruxellois, whom, when you have the chance to meet, will want to make you come again and again.
Lara
------------------------------------------------------------
Somewhat ironic…selling visitors on the virtues of Brussels, at the same time Lara has left it.

Lara has some time off before her next shows, in Bulgaria on March 27th, followed by two in Romania. In preparation for the Romanian show, she gave an interview (in English) which can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9WLtF5xkuE
Meanwhile, the blind auditions will continue for La Voix.. It used to be said when Lara would visit Quebec for a week or two (while she was living in Brussels), there would always be a media ‘blitz’. Now that she’s staying there full time, there is a continual media blitz. As she said, who knew she would be welcomed back so quickly and thoroughly? (with the help of TVA). We’ll see what new opportunities arise in the coming week(s).

Diplomatic of Lara to choose Eric, who is also often her biggest competitor for the contestants.
Also of great interest, was the show ‘La Vraie Nature’ which aired following La Voix.. A Twitter picture of the participants can be found at:

The show itself can be found (thanks to the larafabian.artist FB site) at:

Lara was her usual wonderful self, interesting, honest, laughing, crying and overall, very personal.
We saw a quite interesting clip from it discussed in last week’s News Update, about why Lara really came to Quebec. ; it starts at ~9:10 of this video.
Two short videos of Lara singing karaoke for the show, are available at:
www.facebook.com/JeanPhilippeDionOfficiel/videos/1094157567402654/
and singing New York, New York,

Meanwhile, the blind auditions will continue for La Voix.. It used to be said when Lara would visit Quebec for a week or two (while she was living in Brussels), there would always be a media ‘blitz’. Now that she’s staying there full time, there is a continual media blitz. As she said, who knew she would be welcomed back so quickly and thoroughly? (with the help of TVA). We’ll see what new opportunities arise in the coming week(s).
