A momentous week for Lara, with her new album arriving this coming Friday (10/6), but there was an equally momentous announcement yesterday morning, which has ramifications beyond this new album. We’ll start with that…
Lara provided a link on her FB page to the announcement that she will be joining The Voice #6 as one of the coaches – in Quebec!
tva.canoe.ca/emissions/lavoix/nouvelle/les-coachs-de-la-voix-6-lara-fabian-garou-et-alex-nevsky-rejoignent-eric-lapointe
The (translated) announcement goes: “TVA, Québecor Content and Déferlantes Productions are pleased to announce the arrival of Lara Fabian, Garou and Alex Nevsky as coaches of the most watched show of the airwaves! They will surround the veteran Eric Lapointe, proud to continue the adventure after the triumph of his protégé Ludovick Bourgeois last spring. The entry of these three exceptional artists will add a whole new color to the next edition of La Voix, which will take off in the winter. The trio succeeded the talented Marc Dupré, Isabelle Boulay and Pierre Lapointe, who have devoted themselves, for the next year, to their projects of albums and shows.”
Here’s what they say about Lara: “Blessed with a bigger than life talent, Lara Fabian is one of the greatest voices on the planet. Before spreading to Europe and elsewhere in the world, it was here in Quebec that the Belgo-Canadian made her first successes and where she took flight. After more than 20 million records sold in her career, she will launch this autumn, under the Musicor label, her 13th studio album entitled Camouflage. The singer of Je t'aime is delighted to continue her love affair with Quebec, where it all began, and to accompany all these artists at the dawn of something great!”
Lara will be joining Garou, Alex Nevsky and Eric Lapointe – a truly exceptional group of coaches. This will definitely be a program to watch, if one can access it.
As the first news release indicated, Lara has rejoined the ‘Musicor’ company for this album release. Here’s their (translated) news release (https://www.facebook.com/Musicor/photos/a.103284493037.92936.86564108037/10154896680798038/?type=3&theater):
“The whole team of Musicor is very proud to count again Lara Fabian, an exceptional artist, within its team. Her new album, Camouflage, will be available this Friday on all digital platforms.” Musicor has been Lara’s record company for releases in Quebec, starting from the very first self-titled French album (e.g., www.ebay.com/itm/LARA-FABIAN-K7-Lara-Fabian-MUSICOR-Canada/382010988738).
Lara had previously had a distributor in Canada who was associated with Sony, and to make this move, had to ‘take down’ the singles from the digital platforms, as well as the “pre-orders” through them. It was noted by Nicolas Boucaud on LFIAG Select, that Musicor belongs to Quebecor who is the producer of “La Voix”, so Lara’s signing with them was associated with this opportunity.
When Lara was asked about not being picked for ‘The Voice’ in France, her answer was something like, “What! Don’t you think I have enough to do?”. Well, actually, that answer really still applies. The show is having auditions this month (pre-auditions last month), and it will be on the air from mid-January to mid-April. Of course, this strongly overlaps Lara’s concert schedule – on her ‘Events’ page, she has 17 concerts listed for that time period; how will she possibly do this? According to Lara’s Team, that is the reason why some of the concert dates associated with already indicated venues, have not yet been announced – implying this move has been foreseen for some time.
[As an aside - one way that would make it easier for Lara would be if she were to move to Quebec, thereby being ‘there’ during the in-between times when she is ‘home’ with her family. That would also open up all sorts of new opportunities in the North American market (see below)].
As for the new album – it is almost here! Lara, true to her word, has presented brief one minute segments of additional songs, one per day. Of course, if you want to be surprised, don’t listen to these extracts…

[In fact, it looks like it will be the third single, and will likely be released on the day of the album release; Nicolas Boucaud on the MZ FB site indicated there will be a remix of this song as well, to be released in mid-November].

There will be two more such extracts, leading up to the album release on Friday.
Promotion is underway, of course, for the album release, primarily in Europe. Lara put a link on her FB site to the TV program "Die grosse Drei-Laender-Show" recorded in Bregenz (Austria)
(https://www.zdf.de/show/die-grosse-drei-laender-show/171001-sendung-dgdls-100.html) (called “the big three country show” as it is shown in Germany, Austria and Switzerland). As she noted, of her two songs, I Will Love Again" is on at the [0hr, 10minute 30 second ]mark, while "Growing Wings" is on at [1hr, 47 minutes]. For convenience, the two portions were kindly put together, at
www.facebook.com/larafabian.artist/videos/1204291636381463/
Both of them were lip-synced, which got a bit tricky toward the end of ‘Growing Wings’, since Lara had to be singing the lyrics and the backup at the same time . When someone complained, and hoped that wouldn’t be the case for all the promotions, Lara’s Team responded: “You want to be a TV producer at ZDF? Playback [lip-synch] or live, it depends on the technical means, filming circumstances, production and budget choices of the TV channel. And also the TV culture of each country. In Germany, almost all TV shows are in playback. The choice does not always belong to artists. Team Lara”. All that was then left for fans to do was to comment on how good Lara looked in her leather outfit, and the beautiful scenery. If one remembers, the (brief) promotion in Germany for ‘A Wonderful Life’ also featured lip-syncing.
Yesterday, Lara spent the day in promotion in France. Nicolas Boucauld provided a link to the following picture of Lara at the Hotel de Sers in Paris,
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1691510554206360&set=a.546669908690436.124615.100000422952467&type=3&theater
The interviewer Bertrand Bulle Kaleta called it “A beautiful meeting with a great person.” It will appear in the Closer on Friday and in Tetu on Saturday.
Lara had such a picture as well, on her Twitter feed, at
Lara also posted on her FB site that she will be in the October edition of “Tribu Move” (http://www.tribumove.com/). This is a Franco-Belgian magazine associated with the LGBT community.
Lara’s “L’interview Indiscrete’ became available (thanks to Lara Fabian – Artist for the link) on lematin.ch (https://www.lematin.ch/front/bildstreckenvideosektion/L-interview-indiscrete-de-Lara-Fabian/story/14660995). Despite the ‘indiscreet’ questions (e.g., how was your first time; have you ever killed; have you ever lied), Lara pretty much stayed away from revealing answers. For example, when asked what she was afraid of as a child, she said she didn’t want the door to her bedroom closed entirely. When asked what her best quality was, she said ‘generosity’ (which, from what we know of her, seems accurate). Perhaps the most interesting question was whether she feels she earns enough for the work she does. Lara replied (in English), who does? (which was an honest answer) but then went on to say she is recompensed in other ways that the music provides her. Whenever possible, she answered “her husband” (whom would you like to spend an evening with, who do you find sexy).
There was also the podcast from “Les grosses tetes”:
www.rtl.fr/culture/medias-people/tourbillon-de-bonne-humeur-dans-les-grosses-tetes-7790308474 (choose lundi 2 octobre 2017)
with Lara (in disguised voice for the ‘guess who’ game) at 1:01:40 [the hint was playing Lara’s theme from Dr. Zhivago]. They played ‘Growing Wings’ at 1:08, and additional small extracts are played subsequently. They even returned to Lara’s duet with Josh Grobin of ‘Forever’, and her first song, ‘Croire’, from the Eurovision contest. Lines from ‘Tout’, ‘Je t’aime’ and “J’y crois encore”, “Immortelle”, and “La difference” were impressively done by a panelist by heart! Overall, the panelists seemed to like the new album, from what they heard, and had no problem with Lara doing it in English.
Lara mentioned a number of cities on this show as being part of the tour, that have not yet appeared on the ‘Events’ page. This includes Montreal (which if true, would be good, because it would be otherwise hard to explain its absence on ‘La Voix’), San Francisco, Las Vegas, Rome and Rio (i.e., Brazil). Are these really true, or was Lara just getting carried away? [Lara’s team subsequently indicated that Rome is still uncertain, as it depends on the availability of concert venues and general planning]. Is the North American portion of the tour going to be expanded, if Lara has to be in Quebec for ‘La Voix’ during the winter anyway? Sheer speculation at this point, but such potential consequences are why Lara’s new involvement in Quebec is the lead item for this update.
Today Lara is in Belgium for numerous interviews; according to the ‘Operation Fan Club Lara Fabian’ site, that will include, for the press: Ciné Télé Revue, Télé Pro, La DH, and Soir Mag; for TV: "Face à Face" / RTL-TVI; on radio: "des Bulles Tip Top"/ Vivacité and "Club RTL" (Bel-RTL) while also, in Flanders, Radio 2 and Het Krant van West-Vlaanderen. The promotion in Germany picks up on Wednesday, live from the ARD studios in Cologne for the "Morgenmagazin" for an acoustic interpretation accompanied by Moh Denebi (broadcast on ARD and ZDF). In addition to the ZDF TV show discussed above, there are already some articles appearing (e.g., www.koeln-insight.tv/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15158%3Alara-fabian-mit-emotionalem-video-aus-neuem-album-camouflage&catid=228&Itemid=1277 )
The show on VivaCite has already taken place – one can see it on (https://www.rtbf.be/vivacite/emissions/detail_le-8-9/accueil/article_camouflage-un-nouvel-album-en-anglais-pour-lara-fabian?id=9725790&programId=4003). As indicated by Lara on the video, the accompanying article says:
---------------------------------------------------
Lara's grandfather is American, the practice of English was part of her daily life, it is a musicality in which the singer has always written. English is universal too. Her goal with this new opus is to make good music of her time for a varied audience.
Camouflage...
Growing wings, this very bewitching title stretches sumptuously on radio waves and announces the new album which will be on the shelves as of Friday.
A wild and sexy album! Just like the personality of Lara. A very confusing, amazing and very modern album ... Great class!
"I have a desire for good music of my epoch, much of my time. I worked with some Swedes and an American to do that."
Lara Fabian will be performing on June 9th at Forest National. Rendezvous is taken for the World Camouflage Tour!
----------------------------------------------
Although it was carried out with humor, actually Lara had to sort of justify this English album, and her tour of the U.S., so as not to imply she was ‘leaving’ Belgium, France and the French language.
The ‘Mademoiselle Zhivago’ site provided a link to an English promotion for Lara, available at releases.red/release/camouflage/. It indicates Lara’s U.S. promotional strategy:

MARKETING HIGHLIGHTS
Lara Fabian is returning to the international scene with her 13th studio album Camouflage.
Camouflage unites Lara’s signature vocals with an electro-pop production, combined with classic orchestration, creating a sound that is both modern and timeless. All songs on the album were produced by award winning music producer Moh Denebi.
This is the second English language album by a singer with more than 20 million albums sold worldwide. Lara’s first English album (1999 via Sony Music) reached #1 at the Billboard Hot Dance Charts and was covered by artists like Barbra Streisand and Josh Groban.
She will be kicking off the Camouflage World Tour in February 2018 in the US ending in Paris in June 2018. (6 dates): www.songkick.com/artists/242680-lara-fabian.
Touring: Lara will be in the USA end of September for promo (NY) and then again in October (NY & L.A.). Publicity: Focus on syndicated TV show, national TV (Today show, morning shows, Ellen, Jimmy Fallon etc..) as well as traditional media / print media.
-------------------------------------------
Let’s hope these shows actually come to pass! As the song says, “If you have no dream, how can the dream come true”?
In other news, it was noted last week that the video for ‘Choose What You Love Most’ was a difficult shoot; the Lara Fabian Mexico site has some behind-the-scenes- pictures from it, at

All in all, this will be a very big, exciting week for Lara and her fans – perhaps the biggest in many years, considering the novelty of her wide-scale English album release. We wish her, and the album, “Bonne chance”! A separate thread will be established for you to post your opinions of it.
