We’re now about 10 days removed from the release of Lara’s first wide-scale English album release in more than a decade, and so promotional activities are ramping up strongly. Lara’s interview for the fan websites was provided in the previous thread; in it she says this is her “favorite album ever”. It’s not impossible that she has said something similar associated with the release of previous albums, as one’s latest project is often looked upon as ‘the best’, but her enthusiasm is undeniable.
Yesterday, Lara posted the following statement on her FB site: “From tomorrow on, I will present you here every day an extract from a new song of "Camouflage", leading up to the release date, October 6th.... “ And today she did just that, with an extract of the song, ‘If I Let You Love Me’, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/1739026446138845/
While one can obviously not judge based on a one minute snippet, it continues to look as if the album will be really different, in terms of song structure, beat and lyrics. Lara is trying new things, which is certainly to be applauded.
In the same promotional vein, the music video for “Choose What You Love Most (Let It Kill You)” was released, and is available on Lara’s Youtube channel, at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXhBe0jUl7w
Her Team describes it in these terms: “The music video, shot also entirely in Iceland, reflects the more "classic" style of the song, compared to the first single. This approach is less representative of the artistic concept of "Camouflage" in its entirety (which is rather represented by "Growing Wings"). But, we believe, it is in the continuation of past projects, and in conformity with the expectation of a large part of Lara's fan base in various countries.”
The comment would seem to apply to the song more than the video, in that the song emphasizes Lara’s vocal prowess. The music video itself is a somewhat curious affair – the first part being languid, almost dreamy in a daytime scene, perhaps emphasizing the ‘choose what you love most’ portion of the song. The second part picks up the pace and is ‘darker’, with the burning piano and the night sky, perhaps emphasizing the ‘let it kill you’ portion of the song (itself a curious suggestion). [One could almost view this song as being sung from the point of view of the piano – it got what it wanted most, Lara’s presence and touch, and then it was subsequently burned up!] My personal opinion is that the music video for ‘Growing Wings’ helped uplift the song; here the song (in particular Lara’s singing) uplifts the music video. But both are interesting, attractive affairs, made more so by the beautiful Icelandic scenery. The LaraFabianweb site has a set of screen captures from the video that emphasizes this point, available at
www.facebook.com/larafabianweb/videos/1910160975666095/
The picture that Lara has chosen to represent it can be seen at:

Apparently it was a very difficult shoot. Lara’s manager said, “The video was shot entirely in Iceland, under extremely difficult weather conditions. (wind and rain, low temperatures) we finished the shooting around 3 am in the morning... Lara was very brave.” An example of the wind in these conditions can be found at

Lara herself said it was a five hour drive to the location, and a five hour drive back. True commitment!
The video has gotten some responses – in France the following (translated) comment appeared at (http://www.actuanews.fr/Sensuelle-et-sexy-Lara-Fabian-devoile-le-clip-du-titre-Choose-What-You-Love-Most-Let-It-Kill-You_a37365.html), and was linked to by Lara’s site:

Sensual and sexy, Lara Fabian unveils the clip of the title Choose What You Love Most (Let It Kill You)
Lara Fabian, who will release her new album next month, now releases the new single, which is a sensation. Watch this video on ActuaNews.com
2017 sounds like the rebirth for Lara Fabian, who will unveil next October 6, her new album "Camouflage" which contrary to the title, seems to unveil the most beautiful artistic fiber that hides in Lara. An album in which she delivers as never before.
A beautiful renaissance for the singer who will be on the stage of Zenith De Paris on June 16, 2018, for what is currently her only date in France with this international album, which has already been promoted with the excellent single " Growing Wings "and which has recently been joined by the title" Choose What You Love Most ", and which is revealed today in a video just perfect. So we find a Lara always so sensual in an astonishing setting. Look!

Lara Fabian in English, what gives?
Do you know which French-speaking artist will probably be playing in English this year? It's ... Lara Fabian!
And yes, the singer decided to unveil a new extract of the album Camouflage which will be released on October 6th ... It is not the first time Lara Fabian releases an album in the language of Shakespeare, the last time it was in 2004…
This new album could open new doors because the artist reinvents herself like never before ... Personally, I can not wait to discover this album which promises to be surprising ... [And they provide the music video]

LARA FABIAN’S ‘CHOOSE WHAT YOU LOVE MOST (LET IT KILL YOU)‘ IS GORGEOUSLY ADDICTIVE
Canadian/Belgian singer Lara Fabian released the official video for her new single ‘Choose What You Love Most (Let It Kill You)’ this morning, and I think it is the prettiest track from her upcoming new album so far. Albeit quite dark.
The video itself is Fabian out in a field. Just her and her piano. Fabian in a killer open-cut skirt and boots and looking as strong and as sexy as hell. Gotta love a woman that is only three years away from age 50 still looking as gorgeous and hot as any 20-year-old. And a helluva lot stronger.
As for ‘Choose What You Love Most (Let It Kill You)‘, it is a song that starts off slow and sweet and you think “Eh, it’s okay”. Then Fabian’s clear, soaring vocals come in at the chorus, and it suddenly turns into all kinds of gorgeous. Gorgeously addictive too, as I have had it on repeat for the last half hour.
And I always think when I see Lara Fabian sing, while Celine Dion is the most famous Canadian singer, Fabian’s vocals are just as astounding as hers and, to me, warmer and richer.
So I am always amazed, as famous as she is, that Lara Fabian still doesn’t always get as much recognition as Celine. She should.
Watch Lara Fabian’s official music video for ‘Choose What You Love Most (Let It Kill You)‘ below.
You can pre-order her upcoming English-language studio album Camouflage here. It releases on October 6th, 2017, and it is looking like it could be exceptional.

Concerning Lara’s interview for the fan sites, for which Lara’s written replies were very literate and to the point, her are some of the take-away messages:
**’Camouflage’ is actually Lara’s favorite song on the album, which she doesn’t consider really a commercial song (hence its not being released as a single, at least not yet), but is described as having a ‘cinematographic feel’ due to magnificent string arrangements. It questions our need to blend in, to hide for protection. But it also is an indication of our ability to adapt to different circumstances.
**‘Chameleon’ was the first song written, and for awhile, the album was referred to as that. ‘Choose What You Love Most’ was the last song written.
**The album is about all the colors in our lives (our challenges, loves, victories, defeats), hence the color scheme for the album artwork.
**Lara does not want to revisit past, unreleased projects (she says they were unreleased for a reason), but to move ahead. A comment we’ve heard from her often.
**The touring show will be fun, for a pop album, and will be based on the new album but will also include songs from her previous English albums (NB think: I Will Love Again, Adagio, maybe even Broken Vow). And there may be one or two songs in French…
**Again Lara says she would love to go to Brazil, but it depends on promoters to put together a package and invite her. This perhaps is the difference a big record company makes – for her first English album for Sony, when she was an unheard of artist (in English), a stint in Brazil was arranged.
**She’s not sure whether her plans to put together, or appear in, a Broadway musical will ever come to pass. However, her goal of opening a music school where she can transmit what she has learned is a serious possibility.
**The next album will be French, to be released toward the end of 2018 if there are no delays – one wonders whether she has started working on it, to have such a clear time period in mind. The associated tour across France, Québec and Belgium will therefore probably be in 2019. There are no plans for a Spanish or Italian album.
**A DVD would be nice, but that depends on its commercial prospects. Lara raised the possibility of streaming one of her shows on TV, perhaps on Netflix.
**Lara again emphasized how much she loves this album, and so is very excited about the upcoming tour. She also said, “It puts a final end to the useless and senseless questions of the past on singing with” too much vocal power”, or not enough of it. It sounds and feels just 'right'". So much for her critics!
**Her superpower of choice would be teleportation – would make touring a lot easier! [as well as shooting music videos in remote areas of Iceland].
All in all, a wonderfully lucid set of questions and answers.
Lara also gave an interview for the Romanian publication ‘Star Gossip’ (http://star-gossip.com/2017/09/25/exclusive-interview-for-romania-lara-fabian-romania-has-a-very-special-place-in-my-heart-and-i-return-with-a-very-pop-and-visually-rich-show-as-you-have-never-seen-me-before). EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW FOR ROMANIA | LARA FABIAN – “Romania has a very special place in my heart and I return with a very pop and visually rich show, as you have never seen me before!”
Lara Fabian has been, is and will be one of my favorite artists, in whose tracks I have always found my stories and on whose music I have always vibrated. Lara Fabian is a legend of the contemporary music, a soul of an artist who combines strength and sensitivity at the same level. On October 6, the artist will release the album “Camouflage”, returning to her old love, English language, but retaining the same emotion and power of her messages shared through her music. The first two singles released from this new album are “Growing Wings” and “Choose what you love most ( Let it kill you)”.
In 2018, Lara will return to Romania to enjoy the audience again, with two concerts scheduled, for March 29 in Cluj-Napoca, and March 31 in Bucharest.
In anticipation of this musical return to Romania, Star Gossip Magazine has had the honor and wonderful opportunity to make an exclusive interview, whereby we discovered Lara Fabian beyond the stage just as she is: wonderful, sensitive, strong , full of dedication for all her fans and for all those who have once vibrated on her music.
Let’s discover Lara in this EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW FOR ROMANIA!
Hello to you, wonderful Lara and welcome to wonderful Romania! More beautiful moments you will spend here with your two concerts from 2018 in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. What feelings does it give you and what will you bring new on the Romanian stage this time? What do you feel and know about Romania in general?
LF: Thank you. It is always a pleasure for me to come to Romania. For the last international tours, we have always made sure to include Romania. And Romania is also one of the few countries where we will have more then one concert on the upcoming “Camouflage World Tour”. Due to the limited time availability, I had to refuse demands from other cities in Romania , but we will catch up with even more dates for the next tour; for this one, it will be Bucharest and Clu-Napoca. With a very pop and visually rich show, as you have never seen me before!
This year you will release your new album, “Camouflage”, that determines your return to English origin. What made you take this Anglophonic decision and which are your biggest expectations with this album?
LF: You might know me in Romania more with French songs, like “Je t’aime”. But I have always performed and written songs in English too. As an artist, I do not make a decision such as “now I want to sing in English”, it happens naturally. I am a citizen of Canada and Belgium, both countries which are multi-linguistic, and I did grow up with many languages; It is a natural thing for me to sing in English too. And some of my most successful songs are in English, for example “I will love again”, “Adagio” or “Broken Vow”. Camouflage is therefore in the continuity of the previous English albums I had recorded. As for my expectation: the only expectation I have is that the songs from “Camouflage” travel across countries and audiences, and touch hearts and souls, and give some color to the darker times in which we live. It is a very colorful album, with various sounds. It is so far, my favorite album ever, and I hope the Romanian public will enjoy it!
What feelings do you express with your new single, “Growing Wings” and which is the message that you want to share to your audience with the song and its video?
LF: I chose “Growing Wings” as first single from the album, as it represents the overall musical sound, that is more electronic and pop, but also includes classic instrumentations such as strings. And vocals are of course very important in my music. The song talks about resilience, and the strength we find in ourselves in moments when we feel most fragile, and somehow we manage to overcome the difficulties, by “growing wings”. As the lyrics say, sometimes, we need to take a “leap of faith”, and trust our instincts, and ourselves, and make a step, even if we move out of our comfort zone. We should not forget, most things we desire, we reach them by stepping out of our comfort zones.
What does it mean to you the word “Camouflage”, both in the professional and personal life?
LF: Camouflage is the title of the album, but also of a song on the album. It talks about our need to blend in, to connect with society; on the one hand, It is about our fears , to stand out, to be “different” and, hence, being rejected as “the other”, so we try to hide who we are, and try to blend in on our environment, in the society, and erase our colors. In the same time, looking at it from a positive angle, it is also our strength , to adapt to different colors, and establishing a connection with our surroundings, and becoming part of something that is bigger than ourselves.
Throughout your career, which was the moment that you will always remember?
LF: I have been lucky to be around for more than two decades now as an artist, and I am so grateful for so many incredible moments, and they keep adding; it is therefore very difficult to pick one single moment. One of the most important moments for me, is when I arrive to a point where I present a new project, like my new album. And also, when I step onto the stage and start performing a song for the very first time to an audience. The process of writing, composing, recording and releasing music takes so much time, that I am impatient to share the music with the audience.. I look forward to these moments when I will be on stage in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca!
Which of your songs was the most motivating for you during the hardest times of your life?
LF: There are several songs I guess. Each song I wrote and composed is linked to a particular moment in my life. “Je t aime” for example is about the courage of shouting out a love declaration for the last time to a person, within a moment of separation. More recently, “L’ oubli”, a song on my last French album, was dedicated to my mother , who suffers from a neuro-degenerative disease, and helped me come to peace with this difficult situation. And there are many other songs, which I hope, mean something for someone out there, in a difficult situation, and maybe gives a tiny bit of support to that person who listens to that song I wrote. If that happens, even if I will never know it, then I have served a purpose bigger than myself.
If your life would be a story, which would be its title and happy ending?
LF: The happy ending would be obviously “and they lived happily ever after”.. The name of a story, I think I’ll need a couple of more decades to respond to that question; I am not a nostalgic person looking backwards to the past. I have learned to concentrate in the present moment, in the “now”. So, for now, my story is “Here and now”, and this story is about “Camouflage” .
How are you behind the stage? What makes you happy, what disappoints you, how do you overcome the obstacles in your life?
LF: I can really say that I don’t think I am different behind the stage than on the stage; what you see on stage is what you get in real life if you see me. Of course on stage, I have a little more make up, and I’m sometimes dressed a bit more in a fancy way. I’d be more comfortable with a jeans and a t-shirt in my daily life than with any designer’s clothes. Other than that, being surrounded by people I love is what makes me most happy and the best recipe to overcome difficulties. Love, laughter, good food, moments shared with good friends are my recipe for happiness. Isn’t that the same for all of us? What saddens me most is greed, lack of empathy, and violence, in every form.
Is there an artist that you would still want to be on the stage with? And which would be the song that you would sing together?
LF: I had the chance to sing with so many great artists, I love duets. I would love to sing with Michael Bublé, such an amazing artist. And I would have loved to sing with George Michael.. I was so saddened by his passing away, such a tragedy. As for the song, I’d love to perform new songs. The big hits are most often left untouched. It is rare that I prefer new versions, the originals are most often the best versions. But there are exceptions, when an artist takes over an already existing song and brings a new dimension to it, like Whitney Houston did with Dolly Parton’s “I will Always Love You”. Already Parton’s version was fantastic, but Houston brought it to another level, and the success was well deserved.
Which is the most fascinating place where you have performed?
LF: On this I have also more than one answer. For artists, there are magic venues, full of musical references and history. I had the chance to perform in several of these, from Carnegie Hall in New York to Royal Albert Hall in London. From Olympia in Paris to the Kremlin in Moscow. But, I have to say that the most important element is not the venue, a concert hall, a building, but the audience, the connection that we create for the duration of a couple of hours through music, lyrics and voice. And that transcends even language barriers. When that happens, when we establish across the stage, me as an artist, and the audience sitting there, this magic connection, then the place where we are, the building, becomes irrelevant. That is the most fascinating aspect of what I do, and which makes me continue doing what I do.
What are your hopes and plans for the near future? Is there a dream that you still have not fulfilled?
LF: My plan for the foreseeable future is the Camouflage World Tour. That will take me most of the next year. And then, towards the end of 2018, I will release a new French album. And I’ll be doing many other things in between, I never stop. Follow me on my social media, you will see.
Share a message for all your Romanian fans!
LF: Romania has a special place in my heart. Being the daughter of an Italian mother, I am half Latin, and we share this Latin connection with Romania. This maybe explains also how easy it is for me to connect with the Romanian public, once I step onto the stage. So, I look forward to be with you again, and to have to present you the colors of the “Camouflage” album and show . See you very soon!

Again, an interview full of clarity. Key comment: "We should not forget, most things we desire, we reach them by stepping out of our comfort zones."
Concerning the tour, Lara’s Team has not added any more dates/venues to Lara’s “Events” section for quite some time – there are still only 20 listed there. And they have emphasized that until it is listed there, it is not official. This should be kept in mind when reading the following: ‘Charts in France’ has a listing of 30 dates, including actual rooms, at www.chartsinfrance.net/communaute/index.php?/topic/61630-lara-fabian-camouflage-le-6-octobre/
Whether these turn out to be the actual locations or not remains to be seen.
In other news, the Offer Nissim remix of ‘Growing Wings’ got a prime showing at a Rosh Hashana festival in Israel. The video of that can be seen at

It was featured on a live broadcast from Tel Aviv, on Offer Nissim’s Facebook site.

As to what’s coming up: obviously there will be increased activity in this week before the album release. Lara’s Team announced that “Lara will have a promo day in Paris on October 2nd, and a promo day in Brussels on October 3rd. Both days are filled with interviews, radio show participation and TV interviews. In the meantime, she is giving several interviews for press in other countries. USA and Canada will follow later.” Appearances in Germany will follow immediately thereafter. Exciting times!
