This past week the remix of ‘Growing Wings’ appeared, right on schedule, and yesterday the music video for the album cut appeared. We’ll start with the music video, which is probably more important for the ultimate success of the album.
In addition to its appearance in various publications, the clip can be found on Lara’s youtube channel, at
youtu.be/uDBhnj0KMi0
It’s gotten excellent reviews from Lara’s fans, and is clearly a poetic, tastefully done production, shot in a beautiful yet austere environment (mostly recorded in Iceland). With an unlimited budget, I personally would have preferred a more dynamic, literal presentation, with scenes of rapid descent from those surrounding cliffs, followed by a flash of wings and soaring upward just before one hit the surface; but one has to say as filmed it matches the tone of the composition, which remained somewhat ‘demure’ throughout. Actually the video even helps the song; the changing visual images for the last ~50 seconds make that segment seem somewhat less repetitive.
Good for them for going to an exotic locale, and producing a classy clip. It may be a necessary component of Lara’s career to create music videos to support her album, but it is also a gift to her fans.
BTW, Iceland has become a magnet for those interested in shooting music videos. An article about that can be found at www.rent.is/blog/music-videos-shot-in-iceland/ (and there are even more artists than previewed there who have used Iceland for that purpose).
Various people (including DayViệt Nguyễn and Andreza Ranieri) have noted that Lara is dressed as Cersei Lannister (from Game of Thrones) . If this is a coincidence, a private joke, or has some deeper meaning, it will require Lara’s people to explain! Actually, part of Game of Thrones has been filmed in Iceland, but not Cersei’s scenes (http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Filming_locations).
The appearance of the video is just now being noticed by the media (e.g., tetu.com/2017/08/14/lara-fabian-nouveau-clip-growing-wings-annonce-lalbum-camouflage/). Lara’s people pointed out an article in the German magazine ‘Stern’ (http://www.stern.de/kultur/musik/lara-fabian-hypnotisiert-mit-melodischem-pop-in-islands-natur-7578030.html?fref=gc), Here is the (google) translation:

Lara Fabian hypnotizes with melodic pop in Iceland's nature
The Canadian-Belgian singer Lara Fabian releases her third English-language album "Camouflage.” She combines her soft voice with electro pop and classical orchestration. The single "Growing Winds" offers a first impression.
Lara Fabian is considered one of the most powerful voices worldwide. She is an icon of the LGBT movement, was covered by Barbara Streisand, sang with Josh Groban, was on a soundtrack for numerous Hollywood films and made appearances at Olympic opening ceremonies. Her international openness was demonstrated to you in her duet with Mustafa Ceceli, thus becoming number one in the Turkish charts. So far, she has sold over 20 million records worldwide.
As a highlight for her millions of fans worldwide, Lara will go on a big world tour with "Camouflage". More than 40 data are planned starting in February 2018. The tour starts in the USA and will bring Lara Fabian once around the world. Concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are planned.
-------------------------------------------------------
[The article contains the music video, as one can see on that link, and Lara’s people indicated it was part of an ‘exclusivity’ arrangement with this important publication. The suggestion was that the video’s release was timed to coincide with the publishing date for the magazine, so there was no unexpected ‘delay’ involved (as speculated here and elsewhere). The actual release date for the video, coming just 10 days after the release of the single, was not the problem for Lara’s fans: as evidenced by the comments on her site, it was raising their expectations that it would be imminent by telling them to ‘stand by’, one week ahead of time. Perhaps in the future, upcoming releases dates can be more clearly specified].
There was an article in the Romanian publication ‘Star-gossip’ (thanks to the LaraFabianWeb site for this and the following two links); here’s the (google) translation:

Lara Fabian returns with a new video in English, "Growing Wings"
Lara Fabian released the video for Growing Wings, the first single on the future Camouflage album. For her 13th album in her career, Lara Fabian decided to try again the English adventure, which combines ballads with pop pieces. In Growing Wings, piano chords give a dramatic dimension to an introspective text in which the Canadian-Belgian singer decides not to ask questions and goes on.
Directed by Senor Korkmaz, the video takes us to the edge of the sea where a man dances on the rhythm of his life to escape the inner demons. We enjoy the stunning images that seem to come from an episode of the Game of Thrones or the Vikings.
The new album, signed by Lara Fabian, "Camouflage", will be available from October 6th.
Two years after the concerts held in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Lara Fabian returns to Romania to promote her new album, "Camouflage". The new concerts in Bucharest and Cluj are part of the Camouflage World Tour, the first tour of Lara Fabian based on a repertoire with English songs [or at least these English songs]. The show will have an innovative visual production and a setlist that will mostly include songs on the "Camouflage" disc, as well as other tracks in English. In the setlist will be included the most important hits of the artist's career, such as "Je t'aime" or "Je suis Malade". Lara Fabian will play on March 29 at the Polivalenta Hall in Cluj-Napoca, two days later on March 31, and will perform at the Palace Hall in Bucharest.
Those who will buy tickets at Lara Fabian's concerts in March 2018 will receive the new album of the artist - "Camouflage" free of charge.

From the Quebec publication, ‘hollywoodpq’:
--------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian releases a new clip
Lara Fabian released her latest video yesterday, accompanying her song Growing Wings. The singer can be seen in an idyllic landscape reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings. Shot in a blue light, you can see a splendid Lara Fabian with charcoal eyes and a square cut. You can also see a young dancer under a fountain. The clip is directed by Senol Korkmaz and the photo direction is provided by Michel Dierckx.
One can see the clip of Growing Wings below.
It is a great return for Lara Fabian who will release her next album, Camouflage, on October 6th. We can already see the cover.
Lara Fabian will begin her World Camouflage tour in February 2018 in Miami. Remember that Lara Fabian had released her latest album, Ma vie dans la tienne, in November 2015.

And from another Canadian publication ‘en vedette’:
------------------------------------------------------------
Transformed, Lara Fabian reveals her new videoclip!
by Karl Hardy
Lara Fabian is our star of the day! The diva will launch this autumn a new album in English called "Camouflage".
Her label, 9 Productions, revealed that the disc will include 12 unreleased songs "with an electro-pop production, combined with a classical orchestration, creating a modern yet timeless sound."
The famous singer finally unveiled the video clip for her song "Growing Wings", the very first excerpt of this long-awaited opus. Completely transformed, the star performs a promising musical turn. There is no doubt, the excellent pop piece will please you as much as it does us!
You can view the video below.
Lara Fabian a few weeks ago unveiled the cover of her new album. The megastar has never been so beautiful!
Are you eager to hear Lara Fabian's new English songs? The new disc will be available everywhere on October 6th.

And then, finally, from Charts in France:
-------------------------------------------------------
Clip "Growing Wings": Lara Fabian recharges her batteries in Iceland
As a prelude to the album "Camouflage", available October 6, Lara Fabian presents the ballad "Growing Wings", accompanied by a splendid clip shot in the wilderness.
Lara Fabian opens up to the world. Two years after "Ma vie dans la tienne", the Canadian-Belgian singer embraces her cosmopolitan roots with "Camouflage", a new album interpreted in English that will invade the stalls from October 6th. "This new album brings together Lara's vocal signature, with electro-pop production, combined with classical orchestration, creating a sound that is both timeless and modern," promises a press release, emphasizing what makes her unique music : Its interpretation. At ease in the vocal demonstration as in sweetness, Lara Fabian launched the hostilities on August 4 with "Growing Wings", an introspective ballad retracing her desire to move forward. "Leap of faith, Growing wings / On the way down, before you hit the ground" she sings delicately on a melancholy refrain.
A World Tour
While the tracklist of "Camouflage" reveals that the disc will include 12 songs, Lara Fabian has in parallel announced the dates of her next tour. Passing through New York, Montreal, Moscow, Berlin, Milan or Barcelona from February 2018, the artist will also stop at the Zenith in Paris. Rendezvous on June 16, 2018! Until then, the public will have had time to discover the beautiful video clip of "Growing Wings", shot on the mystical and spectacular lands of Iceland. At the edge of the shore, the lost gaze towards the horizon, Lara Fabian escapes for better recharge. While a small breeze caresses her hair, a half-naked dancer links together the acrobatics in front of the famous Skógafoss waterfall. A breathtaking panorama!
----------------------------------------------
So far, so good!
Also in conjunction with the video’s release, Moh Denebi (collaborator on the song) provided a nice message for Lara and her Team:
"Guys, I couldn't be prouder of this amazing team.
Dear Lara it's a joy and a pleasure to work with you, you are a professional.
And my beautiful friend and partner, Sharon Vaughn, I love you and Matt, you are a hero: D "
The other contributor to this album, Sharon Vaughn, had earlier written on her FB site (in response to the single release) “This is a proud, proud moment for the Lara Team, Moh Denebi and Sharon Vaughn!! Our hearts are pouring into and through the sound of her incredible voice. xxx”.
The video was added to Lara’s URL (www.larafabian.com), as was news of the remix. No further verified concert dates have been added, nor has the French language option been activated.
As for the remix: it can be heard on many of the music platforms, and/or ordered from iTunes and Amazon. The response to it has been generally positive – many people liked it a lot, though some people didn’t like it at all. One can see both sides…
On the positive side, the remix has an infectious beat, it is long – almost 7 minutes, so that one doesn’t have to play it on a loop to hear a lot of it – and, in my experience, it grows better the more you listen to it. The meaningful lyrics now get repeated, so that they play a bigger part in the song, to their advantage. The repetition of the title ‘Growing Wings’ has a hypnotic quality to it. This might even become quite popular, if stations were to give it a chance. A very enjoyable song to listen to.
On the negative side, Lara’s vocal contributions are minimal, really anybody could be singing this song, it’s mostly music and beat. One might say that’s what remixes are for, but if one listens to the remixes of ‘I Will Love Again’, Lara’s soaring vocals did get mixed in – here she’s basically reciting the lyrics, and, otherwise, is at best a faint voice in the background.
In addition, with the license taken with the lyrics, the title now makes no sense. The connecting phrase
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
Before you hit the ground
is nowhere in evidence, so ‘Growing Wings’ is completely disconnected from the lyrics about taking chances. Additional license is taken with repeating the phrase ‘stands it anyway’, which also makes no sense (the original words were ‘understands it anyway); why not repeat sensible words? Perhaps the idea is that no one listens to dance music for the lyrics, so what does that matter? One wonders how Lara feels about the rendering of the lyrics on this remix…
Offer Nissim, the Israeli who produced the remix, gave a shout out to it on his FB site, saying
“I'm so proud and excited to reveal to you the official remix
I created for the international pop sensation Lara Fabian,
for the single "Growing Wings",
from her new upcoming album.
Shabbat Shalom,
Offer.”
Perhaps coincidentally, at the time of this writing the original cut (not the remix) is currently #19 on iTunes in Israel, the highest it is anywhere in the world (http://kworb.net/itunes/artist/larafabian.html).
Before leaving this subject, a cute video has been generated by J. Paris by coupling a portion of the music of the ‘Growing Wings’ remix to Alan Badoev’s video from ‘Mademoiselle Hyde’. It’s available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTKcLpGmVZM&app=desktop
It does a good job of visualizing the energy of this remix.
Several websites have suggested that the second single from the album will be released on September 8, and it will be ‘Choose What You Love Most” (Let It Kill You) (e.g., www.facebook.com/larafabianphq/photos/a.353954938084519.1073741828.353946178085395/1207489462731058/?type=3&theater). [Regardless of the truth of this, that is a beautiful cover ]. Apparently in Paris Lara said it was the song that best represented the album. Lara’s people have indicated that while there will certainly be a second single, there’s been no final determination of what it will be, or the exact date of release (but early September seems likely). Whichever song is chosen, let’s hope it allows people to appreciate Lara’s great vocal gifts.
In other news, Lara posted a picture on her Instagram account, at
with the caption, “what an amazing country.. #GrowingWings.” The flag is that of Norway. If one has had the chance to go there, one knows it has a truly beautiful landscape, with vivid colors, especially green (as can be seen in the photo). One also knows that to be so green, one has to pay a price – it rains, a lot! .
Off-topic, but for those who are interested (http://www.touristmaker.com/blog/what-is-the-rainiest-place-in-europe/):
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The west coast of Norway is the second wettest place on the European continent.
The strong influence of the warm Gulf Stream is the main reason for the predominantly mild weather over Northern Europe throughout the year, but it is also the main cause of the heavy rains that fall over the countries from Scandinavia. Norway is the rainiest Nordic country.
As the relief is mostly mountainous, it plays an important role of a barrier that makes the bulk of the precipitation to fall in the coastal regions of western Norway.
Compared with Sweden and Finland, Norway has a much more humid and rainy climate. It is impressive to note that the precipitation in some areas of the country may reach the impressive 3000 mm per year, which is one of the largest quantities in Europe.
Here you can find the city of Bergen, which is considered to be the rainiest city on the continent. Norway usually receives the bulk of its rainfall in autumn and winter.
Spring and summer are generally less rainy. Moist air masses are one of the main reasons for the gloomy and overcast weather in western Norway.
---------------------------------------------------
And ‘Less rainy’ is only by comparison with autumn and winter .
The LaraFabianWeb site posted links to the AICOM season finale, which ended with a song and dance number of two Disney songs, including ‘Be Our Guest’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VsAJFVDVnA&feature=share). Lara, as the advisor or ‘Godmother’ for this musical comedy teaching school, is shown in a nice group picture, available at:

There was an accompanying article, about the Master Class Lara held at the end of June (http://toitoitoi.fr/masterclass-lara-fabian/); here’s the translation:
------------------------------------------------------------
Masterclass by Lara Fabian: a superb year-end clap for AICOM students
PUBLISHED BY VALENTINE ON 08/07/2017 IN AICOM, AICOM
On Monday, June 26th, AICOM students had the opportunity to participate in a masterclass of vocals hosted by Lara Fabian. An event all the more exceptional as it closed a year of intense work for them, their professors and the founder of the Pierre-Yves Duchesne Academy.
Throughout the day, several students went on stage to perform a song of their choice in front of the singer and their director to receive their benevolent counsel and advice and to take stock of their artistic evolution within AICOM . Each of the performances was a parenthesis full of emotion and authenticity, hailed by their comrades and professionals. They were the occasion to note a true collective solidarity spirit "between artist colleagues", as Lara pointed out. This masterclass also allowed the AICOMs to discover the singer in a particularly convivial and intimate context. Beyond the prodigious vocal mastery that we all know, her spontaneous, funny and above all attentive nature to each brought a lot of freshness and lightness to a moment of constructive work. Between personal anecdotes and lessons learned at every stage of her career, Lara provided valuable technical advice to the students. She stressed the importance of "letting go": release one’s jaw to better position one’s voice, breathe in as much as it takes to place one’s breaths accurately or to appropriate the space for a confident physical posture. While explaining these notions, she participated in the unavoidable exercise of the vocal warm-up with the pupils.
After the passage of each student, Pierre-Yves Duchesne and Lara Fabian debriefed the major strengths of the presentation and the points to be reworked, always with a view of encouragement and technical requirement. The question of interpretation is always at the heart of artists' concerns, and they have looked into the notion of the meaning of a song. Through their experiences, the two professionals distinguished between delivering the message of the text and embodying it, according to one’s maturity. Through Lara's interventions, the students realized how the meaning of a song can be known to all; it is its value for the interpreter that counts the most in delivering it to the public with a tenfold increase in sensitivity.
In the continuity of this humanistic conception of the Artist, the main thread of this masterclass was the fact that Human and Art are inseparable, if not complementary. Artistic training as delivered to AICOM does not form talents, it gives them the weapons to flourish and develop. In this respect, Lara's precious and enriching anecdotes echoed the courses received by the AICOMians. On several occasions one could hear the singer affirm that the vocal techniques are not "esoteric" but rather "quantum physics" as our knowledge of the body regulates our vocal capacities. In his image, it is the artist who reveals his interiority as he hears it through the interpretations he proposes.
The day was rich in method and technical advice but above all imbued with sensitivity and humanity. A brilliant way to end another year devoted to the Art of musical comedy for the students and the teaching team of AICOM, through a wide range of emotions inscribed in a studious and warm atmosphere!

A wonderful depiction of Lara’s knowledge and character, and even some useful singing information for readers of the article.
Interesting picture(s) of the week: of course it would be from the new video, and the Lara Fabian Mexico site posted some of them, available at:
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianfromMexico/photos/pcb.1415735898480466/1415735628480493/?type=3&theater
They truly capture how beautiful Lara looked in the clip.
Then there was the picture (linked to on the LaraFabianweb site) by Michael Dierickx (the videographer), who wrote “Yes indeed, pic taken during scouting for Growing Wings locations (during the photoshoot). This became the dancer’s waterfall.”
he also posted “a mini black and white rainbow” from the same location
The video clip and remix releases this past week were meant to extend the appeal of the single, which was probably needed; we’ll see what the total impact will be. It’s certainly raised its visibility. As far as what is to come, one expects that news will be harder to find for the rest of August, but will pick up again in September with, presumably, the release of the second single (and perhaps an accompanying video). Also one expects promotions will begin in earnest then, with the U.S. and Germany as prime targets. Given the timing of these releases, this has been a more active summer than most for Lara and her fans, something to truly appreciate.
