Lara continued to post ‘lead-ins’ to the release of the new single on her official FB page, with the most important being its lyrics:
--------------------------------------------------
GROWING WINGS / Release date: August 4th
(Lara Fabian/Moh Denebi/Sharon Vaughn)
Have you ever faced an ocean
Though you hadn’t any notion
How to swim but you jumped in anyway
Have you ever kissed a lover
Knowing that his heart was broken
And damaged but you held him anyway
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
Before you hit the ground
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
Before you hit the ground
Have you wandered in the desert
While the sands were ever changing and
Let the winds guide you anyway
Have you spoken in a language
That you’ve never heard before
But your memory understands it anyway
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
Before you hit the ground
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
I’m growing wings now,
I’m growing wings now
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
Before you hit the ground
Leap of faith
Growing wings
On the way down
Before you hit the ground
--------------------------------------------------
As one can see, it’s a little bit more ‘Le Secret’ than ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’. If carried through, one can envision an intriguing album, from the lyrics perspective.
Accompanying this was the ‘cover’ for the single [although not for a physical version]

While Lara would probably not really appreciate the comparison, someone suggested that it has an ‘Alan Badoev’ flavor.
She also posted that as a ‘Day minus 7’ image, following her beguiling ‘Day minus 9’ picture,

And then today, there was a ‘Day minus 3’ image,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1673517639356393/?type=3&theater
which strongly suggests a corresponding video, although the scene does not contain either much sand or water [and hopefully Lara is not intending to jump off those huge rocks with the expectation that wings will appear… ]. Since the accompanying caption said “only 3 days left” one wonders whether the music video (if that’s what it is) will appear in that time-frame as well.
The interest in this first single is not only for itself, but as an indicative sample of the new album as a whole. We can thus ask how representative the first singles from Lara’s previous albums were of their respective albums. Here is a list of the first singles from Lara’s various albums, as compiled at (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lara_Fabian_discography#Singles) :
Lara Fabian: “Croire”/"Je m'arrêterai pas de t'aimer"
Carpe Diem: "Tu t'en vas"
Pure: "Tout"
Live 1999: "Réquiem pour un fou"
Lara Fabian: "Adagio"
Nue: "J'y crois encore"
En toute intimate: "Bambina"
A Wonderful Life: "The Last Goodbye"
Neuf: "La lettre"
Toutes les femmes en moi: "Soleil, Soleil"
Best of Lara Fabian: "On s'aimerait tout bas"
Mademoiselle Zhivago: "Je t'aime encore"
Le Secret: "Deux ils, deux elles"
Ma Vie Dans La Tienne: "Quand je ne chante pas"
[Croire was actually released several years in advance of the first album, but some editions of it included the song; ‘Je m’arreterai pas de t’aimer’ was the first single released associated with the album itself].
As one can see, a number of very notable songs, perhaps even the best songs of the album in some cases, were released as a first single. So this is a somewhat tall order for ‘Growing Wings’ to live up to… As for their representative nature, all of Lara’s albums have some degree of variation in their cuts, but one could say many of these songs were representative. Perhaps the least would be ‘Deux ils, deux elles’ from ‘Le Secret’, and ‘On s’aimerait tout bas’ from ‘Mademoiselle Zhivago’, but both were written later, and apart from Lara’s contribution on DIDE, had completely different writers than the other songs on those albums. Neither of those aspects apply to ‘Growing Wings’, so one imagines it should be indicative of the sound and perhaps lyrical intent of ‘Camouflage’.
Concerning the 2018 tour, numerous sites have posted a link to the coming availability of tickets for Lara’s 2/9 concert at the Copernicus Center in Chicago. (https://www.facebook.com/events/1422398197855022/). Although not yet listed on Lara’s ‘Events’ page, they indicate that tickets will be available starting at 10 AM on August 4th (http://copernicuscenter.org/lara-fabian/). This is true also for the Beacon Theatre in New York, as they indicated on Lara’s Twitter site. Coincidentally or not, that of course is the day when one can pre-order the album and when the single will be released. It looks like this may be a general day when other tickets become available, for the other shows in the U.S. and perhaps elsewhere. In that regard, it’s somewhat surprising that Lara’s concert at the Zenith in Paris (on June 16) already is open for ticketing, whereas Forest National in Brussels (on June 9) is not…
Other than those stories, this is the lull before the storm. Once the single is released, we may expect numerous articles about it; and since the release is simultaneous in many different countries, probably articles in many different languages. Or at least this is what Lara’s Team is hoping will occur - and of course hoping that the comments will be positive. It’s often said in ‘show business’ that notoriety is as good as approval, both leading to public attention, but in countries where artists like Lara are not well-known, the first impression is often the lasting one.

There are actually pictures for each month of the year accompanying their calendar.
In this coming week, of course August 4th has the single release and album pre-ordering, on Amazon and iTunes. Concerning the single, a separate thread will be opened on this site for people to provide their opinions – please feel free to do so.
