Lara’s performance at the opening of the ‘Macau Parisian’ came and went this past week, and while we don’t have any complete video from it, we do have a number of related releases. A promotional video showing Lara singing a portion of “Je t’aime” is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2jIOaucCjE
There is also a video of the opening ceremony (which includes that song) that can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=COp9Wz0iBTQ
And there is a further video about the Macau Parisian, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzUo4uu1VZE
(likely the first time we’ve ever posted a video of a hotel…)
A long article on the opening itself, not mentioning Lara by name, appears at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=COp9Wz0iBTQ However a nice picture of her is included, at:
www.prnasia.com/mnr/parisian_201609.shtml
Other pictures can be seen at:

An article about Lara at the performance was linked to by the MZ FB site: www.purepeople.com/article/lara-fabian-resplendissante-a-l-autre-bout-du-monde_a200685/1. Here’s the translation:
-------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: Resplendent at the other end of the world ...
The Belgian star has represented the France ... abroad!
Lara Fabian, who continues her world tour to promote in particular her latest album 'Ma vie dans la tienne', made a stop in China, Macau, to take part in a chic event. The star was resplendent!
It is for the opening of the Parisian Hotel and Casino, Lara Fabian has traveled as far, 13 September 2016. The singer was superb in her summer-inspired flowered dress, and in addition posing at the photocall, she was able to give her voice to sing many of her songs in French. A way of representing the French speaking world since the establishment has done more than its share with a reproduction of the Eiffel Tower. "A little bit of Paris in Asia ...", moreover commented the star on her Facebook account. The show was also able to count on fireworks.
Lara Fabian, from whom one still awaits the future English album announced a number of months ago but who released a new single titled Razorblade (duet with Natalia), has been fortunate to find this hotel on Cotai Strip. The Parisian Hotel and Casino has no less than 3000 rooms and suites, restaurants with cuisine from around the world, a spa, a water park or again a theater of 1,200 seats. The establishment is a project of Las Vegas Sands and Sands China Ltd.
The next concert of Lara Fabian will be on 21 September in Athens and performances continue until 18 December in Strasbourg.
---------------------------------------
So, as the article says, now the focus shifts to Lara’s upcoming concert in Athens (9/21). Lara herself led the charge in that regard, first with a picture of Athens,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1239865436054951/?type=3
and the accompanying legend (written in English and Greek, as seen below),
Back from China, and already looking forward to see my Greek fans in a few days ! It's been a while! (Συναυλία στην Αθήνα στις 21η Σεπτεμβρίου) [‘google translate says the Greek means ‘Concert in Athens, 21 September’).
Lara then posted a promotional video (very well done, including some career highlights) in which she says again that it’s been a long time, and that she looks forward to celebrating music with them. It’s available at:
www.facebook.com/boemradio/videos/1002665586525879/
On Monday, Boem radio had a 2 hour ‘musical homage’ of Lara’s songs, associated with her visit. The Lara Fabian Greece site provided a link for those who didn’t hear it at the time, at:
www.mixcloud.com/BoemRadio/interboemviews-lara-fabian/
Some of the choices were interesting. Actually, it presents a nice collection of songs to ‘just leave on’…
And ‘Downtown’ magazine had a contest, giving away a few tickets (https://www.facebook.com/DownTownMagazineGreece/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE&fref=nf). They also had a feature on Lara, as one can see :
www.facebook.com/larafabiangreece/photos/a.443804005744698.1073741828.443548625770236/547436618714769/?type=3
Thanks to the Lara Fabian Greece site for these various links. On that site, in conjunction with this image, they included the following:
-------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: I’m very lucky to have built this career”
She is considered one of the greatest voices of the millennium, without excesses. A voice similar to Celine Dion, with less blasé attitude and more emotion. The voice that makes you cry, dance, think, reconsider. In Athens before the public speaking in ‘Downtown’ [the magazine on the stands].
----------------------------------------------------
Other singers/friend of Lara have pitched in as well. The ‘LaraFabianweb’ site posted a link to Mario Frangoulis’ Instagram account where he had this picture,
and the accompanying statement, “''Dear Friends don't forget to go and see the amazing Lara Fabian in concert in a few days in Athens at the TENNIS COURT at OAKA Stadium!!! Save the date 21st September!''
Mario Frangoulis
There’s no indication that he will actually be there…Note that the tennis court is only partially enclosed; as of the time of this writing, the weather forecast indicated that showers were expected to hold off until later that night. Hopefully so!
Back in the francophile world: Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. The MZ FB site posted a report from ‘Shine France’, in charge of the French production of The Voice, indicating that Zazie is remaining on the show, joining Pagny, Mika and Pokora, as shown in this picture:
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10209272410838735&set=p.10209272410838735&type=3&theater
One gets the feeling that this is one door that will never quite open for Lara. In any event, she has a lot to do coming up in the ‘anglophone’ world…
Jean-François Dejeneffe, on that same site, posted a picture of some comments in the current issue of ‘Platine’ related to Lara. It was in an interview with Vladimir Cosma. Here’s the translation:
-----------------------------------------
You remember your collaboration with Lara Fabian?
VC: Certainly, it was for “Laisse-moi rever”, the soundtrack of “La Neige et le feu’. I made the first song of Lara Fabian in France while making it come for the first time in “l’Hexagone” [i.e., mainland France, in that shape, as opposed to overseas territories].
What did you think of your discovery?
VC: If I took her, it is that I found that she had many possibilities, numerous qualities. She has made a tremendous career ... But to me, she hasn’t become what she could have been because of the lack of artistic direction of rigor in the choice of songs and arrangements, as well as a willingness to do the excessive commercialization …by comparison with the other Canadian! [who he then goes on to make clear is Celine Dion].
------------------------------------------------
We know that throughout her career Lara has made her own decisions, written her own songs, gone her own way…and it’s true, that to be a great commercial success, sometimes it is better to let the professionals influence you. Actually, one gets the feeling that over the last few years, Lara has been listening more to her advisors [agreeing to the release of the Mademoiselle Zhivago movie, even in abbreviated form, being just one case in point]. It’s never been clear that maximizing ‘commercial success’ has been Lara’s chief goal, as opposed to exploring love and creativity, and following her own star. Maybe Lara’s “more emotional, less blasé attitude” is not built for the greatest widespread public recognition, though one must say given her worldwide popularity, she indeed has built a ‘tremendous’ career. It’s also not very clear in the above interview whether Vladimir Cosma is completely in favor of pursuing success that way, given that he used the phrase “excessive commercialization”.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: From Boem radio in Greece, one of Lara’s beautiful pictures, thanks to the link from the Lara Fabian Greece Site, at:

And from the larafabianangel site,
[BTW, that site has a number of beautiful pictures of Lara, at www.instagram.com/larafabianangel/].
After Lara’s Athens concert, she has just a week off before the start of three concerts in France, beginning in Toulouse on Sept. 29th. October 2nd is the big concert in Paris, so there’s not all that much time for her to get up to speed on the ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ repertoire following most of the summer off. The running question we always seem to be asking is, where is the time for the English album in all of this? Probably Lara has it all in hand, she’s just not pursuing ‘excessive commercialization”.
