The ‘lull before the storm’ this past week, as preparations were likely being made for her appearance at the ‘Montreal Pride’ LGBT event this coming Friday. Lara gave an interview about it that was linked to by her official site; it’s at

Lara Will Sing in Montreal During the Diva Den
Michel Joanny-Furtin
Lara Fabian will sing for the first time at Montreal Pride, Friday August 12 at 20 pm Émilie-Gamelin Place during the "Diva Den" show. A first time also for an LGBT event in her career! A new album, a touring project, Lara agreed to share some secrets with Fugues on the challenges she has experienced in recent years, but also some good news. Long live August 12!
Lara Fabian will share the stage with 12 other artists. An evening dedicated to female voices, concocted by Marleen Ménard, with Eva Avila (Canadian Idol winner), Elizabeth Blouin-Brathwaite, Stéphane Moraille, Lulu Hughes, Sandy Duperval, Tamar Eisenman (Israel sensation), Angelike Falbo (The Voice), Catherine Oats (Voice), Coco Thompson, Marie-Christine Depestre, Michelle Sweeney and Carissa Vales (La Academia).
Can you confide in us some of the titles that you will sing?
LF: There will certainly be ‘Ton desir’, the extract recently broadcast in Quebec, from my last album, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’. I also wanted to sing ‘La difference’. There will also be ‘I will love again’. And I have also prepared a surprise, I can not tell you more ...
During the "Diva Den" show, can your audience expect duets with some of the artists who will share the stage?
LF: Of the artists who will be on stage that night, I know only Tamar Eisenman, New York artist of Israeli origin of exceptional talent, and guitar virtuoso. I cannot wait to discover the other artists who will be present. We have not planned any duet because it requires that we meet before. Now I arrive in Montreal only shortly before the show. For a duo, it will be perhaps a next time ...?
After your hearing accident in the last few years, have you good news for your "fans" about it?
LF: It's been three years already. I almost became deaf following a technical accident that occurred on stage, linked to human error. Losing the hearing is for a singer, as serious as losing her voice. Today it is no more than, happily, only a bad memory.
How did you find the healing power to rise from this experience? Do you have any fears yet when you go on stage?
LF: Indeed, it was a very difficult time, both in terms of my career, which was likely to stop, but also simply humanly. When you cannot hear the voice of your child ... I follow quite heavy treatment, but that helped me to heal. At no time did I doubt that I would get to heal. The positive force that we have in us can do miracles. I call this test a "poorly wrapped gift" because I learned to listen differently. And the album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ is the result of this test. Today, when I go on stage, I take technical precautions so that such an accident can never happen again.
No doubt you've already participated in events for the LGBT community elsewhere?
LF: I have already attended Pride marches with friends. I think still of one in Tel Aviv, which remains a beautiful memory. But this is the first time that I go on stage as part of an LGBT event. And I am very happy that this is happening here in Montreal.
How do you explain the LGBT infatuation in your regard?
LF: You think there's an LGBT infatuation in my regard? If this is the case, it's a nice compliment for me. If what I do as an artist pleases, and that gays find themselves in my lyrics and songs, I can only be grateful. I was very happy to receive the invitation from Pride Montreal, and I have been able to adjust my schedule in order to be present on August 12 in Quebec. I'm really looking forward to it, to celebrate together the diversity, and just love ...
You have a real open mind about gays and lesbians. Where does it come from, according to you, this beautiful state of mind?
LF: There was ‘La difference’. And also the title ‘Deux ils, deux elle’ on my previous album. But I do not think there is need to have a very open mind to simply defend love against hatred, demand equality, equal rights for all, diversity, respect against contempt . Today, more than ever, we need to embody in ourselves the change we hope to see in society.

Another beautiful interview by Lara – her answer to the last question in particular could not have been better said.
With Canada still in mind, Lara posted on her FB site, “I am keeping my fingers crossed for Vanessa Boslak (French pole-vaulter) and Astrid Guyart (French fencer), as well as all the Belgian teams, French and Canadian participating in the Olympic games in Rio”. There followed a picture of her with Vanessa Boslak,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/p.1197901546918007/1197901546918007/?type=3&theater
Lara in fact was responding to a post with similar sentiments concerning the two athletes, who were part of Olivier Ciappa’s ‘imaginary couples’ series with the photo:
external-lga3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/safe_image.php?d=AQBJ3vADHSnob-De&w=476&h=476&url=https%3A%2F%2Figcdn-photos-d-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-xap1%2Ft51.2885-15%2Fe35%2F13774237_228023504259507_410587112_n.jpg%3Fig_cache_key%3DMTMxMTA2ODk2Mjk3MzIzNjUzNg%253D%253D.2&sx=0&sy=0&sw=1080&sh=1080
Still in the 'Olympics' theme, the ‘Lara Fabian Italy’ site had an appropriate response to Lara’s message: posting the link to Lara’s singing of ‘Rio’ (from the DVD of the ‘Nue’ show), at:
vimeo.com/108246071
Perhaps Lara will see it again for herself in 2017?
Otherwise this was a quiet week. Lara’s team did announce the replacement concert dates for Poland: Wroclaw on February 6, 2017, Warsaw on the 7th, and Krakow on the 8th. Those are the first dates to be listed in the ‘events’ section of Lara’s FB page for 2017. And in that regard, one could ask, what type of concert will it be? The image that Lara’s team used for the announcement,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1195819613792867/?type=3&theater
is very different from the standard promo shot for ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ concerts, e.g.,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/gm.331255863873111/1188949004479928/?type=3&theater
We would have to assume, then, that it will be based on the next English album, not a great stretch as Lara’s team has said that would be the focus of next year’s tour.
In answer to additional questions, her team indicated that the U.S. dates would be announced soon. Lara’s team has previously noted (several times) that it would be in the first quarter of 2017; assuming that the U.S. and Canadian dates will be somewhat contiguous (not to mention any concerts in Brazil/South America), that component will probably take a few weeks. One should look then for an open space of that duration either before or after the first part of February. One would think March would be a better bet, giving more time for the new English album to be ready. If ‘soon’ really means soon, we’ll know shortly.
Also, in response to a question about a concert Italy, for the first time (that I can remember) Lara’s team answered ‘soon’ to that as well. It would be a first (solo) concert for her in the country of her mother and her youth. So if it actually happens, that would be ‘really big deal’ . [Note: the Czech Republic also got a ‘soon’, and given the mutual love between Lara and that audience, one can be pretty sure that will happen].
Lara Fabian Italy site noted that the video promoting the New Wave Festival, Igor Krutoi’s event in September shows Lara (at the 24 second mark: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGNpr4lG1NA). This is not yet on her official schedule, but it would be no surprise if she returned to this event, given the obvious warming of her relations with Krutoi.
Lara has been rumored to be one of the possible coaches on the French version of The Voice this coming year, since Zazie indicated she may not return. However, as noted by the LFIAG site, Jenifer, who was on the show in 2012, 2014 and 2015, is now ‘in discussion’ about returning, even though she has many competing projects in the coming months. She has not yet made a decision (http://www.programme-tv.net/news/tv/90315-jenifer-en-discussion-avec-tf1-pour-revenir-dans-the-voice/). This is a ‘stay tuned’ issue; if Lara were to get the position, one she indicated she was interested in, the show starts filming in January, another reason for Lara’s tour not to be overly active or far away at that time.
The ‘Lara Fabian Connecting People’ site noted that in preparation for Lara’s trip to Turkey later this month, Lara is featured in an article in ‘Dora Magazin’. The scan of it is available at
www.facebook.com/LaraFabianCP/photos/a.1475028129487287.1073741828.1474601329529967/1672227003100731/?type=3&theater
Unfortunately, not only is it in Turkish, the scan is too small to read. Perhaps the Lara Fabian Turkey site will provide some bigger images of it, if not a translation.

Next week we’ll have Lara’s first concert in quite some time to report on, hopefully with some videos from Montreal. Twelve days after that are the two concerts in Turkey. ‘La rentree’ in France is not for a few more weeks – it’s coming early for Lara and her fans.
