The week featured a number of diverse elements for Lara, indicative of the many directions she’s pursuing at once. We’ll start with the run-over from last week, Lara’s duet with Natalia. The three media performances by ‘les dames’ are all now on youtube, at:

Radio 2

In addition, there was a brief interview with the two of them, shown at
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0F1va2MroY
where Natalia indicated she knew of Lara Fabian, and knew of “I Will Love Again”, but had never put the two together. The other point of note was that Lara indicated she could understand Flemish/Dutch, and even spoke, hesitatingly, a few words of it.
The promotion continued…as noted by the Lara Fabian web site, the two were invited to the Bel RTL Radiostars program Saturday, with a picture available at:
www.facebook.com/belrtl/photos/a.472921659406590.111477.169449309753828/1227080880657327/?type=3&theater
Razorblade is having some success in Belgium, as might be expected. It is currently #24 on iTunes, up from #28 the day before. It also entered the French singles charts at #131. [Meanwhile, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ has dropped to #180 there, is still #30 in Belgium, and in Quebec it spent two weeks on the charts, at #s 9 and 10].
An article appeared in the ‘Presse’ about this duo (thanks to the Lara Fabian web site for the link); here’s the translation:
---------------------------------------------------------
“It is an aberration to Belgians”
For the Music Festival, Lara Fabian and Natalia have crossed their linguistic frontiers. Result: a duo on 'Razorblade'
“I declared in the Flemish press that I wanted to do a duet with Natalia, recalls Lara Fabian. And that, it is done in the space of just a few words.”
There is the history behind the song Razorblade, released this June 21 the day of the Music Festival in Belgium. A symbolic duo therefore on this title which speaks of…rupture. “I’ve known of Natalia for a long time”, continues the singer of ‘Je t’aime’. “I returned from Canada 12 years ago and I have always loved my colleagues who look and sing well. Natalia fills the Sports Palace ten times in a row and no one knows her in 25 km…I found that it was an aberration that in our own country, with someone who has a career similar to mine, that one can be unknown in the chapels of the other.”
"It is something that one can’t control", added the Flemish star. "This duet is just the opportunity to support each other and to reintroduce Lara to the Flemish market. I find that each artist ought to do for others. One hopes to become an example for the other artists, to push them to open the doors.” And Lara Fabian adds: “In effect, no one had ever before done this collaboration between an artist of the north and of the south of the country. Beyond the language, for neither of us are singing in Dutch; we are just musical artists.”
The two icons of song ‘made in Belgium’ therefore have this dream: “Whether one be Natalia, Selah, Sue, Lara Fabian or Milow in this country, that we push for her to be known on the two sides of the linguistic frontier” deplores Lara Fabian. “The language barrier would it be ancestral? Whatever it be, there’s a problem. We are Belgian, why not collaborate more easily?"
This one who confirms to be in discussion to become one of the next coaches of the ‘Voice’ in France is saddened by this linguistic cleavage. “It is a pity to have to speak English in our own country in order to understand each other…The Belgian anthem, which exists only in each language, is moreover very revealing. When one sings as supporters of football in the stadium of Europe, there is no mixture of languages. This gives a cacophony. In Canada, it is half-French, half-English, and everybody sings.”
Are there enough who want to sing together in Belgium? “All is possible”, they smile in chorus. "After the necessity of having inspirational words we are already a base standard, so why not?”
--------------------------------------------------------------
[One can’t fail to see the irony of this attempt to bring a country together at the same time the ‘Brexit’ succeeded in pushing countries apart…] Good luck to them!
Another news item mentioned briefly in the article above concerned Lara’s possible participation in the French Voice, on TF1. As noted previously, ‘Zazie’ had expressed doubt that she could combine the fall’s taping schedule with her concert/work schedule, and so a new ‘coach’ was required. Lara’s name was said to be ‘in play’, and sources said ‘she had all the right qualifications’. Since Lara was going around with Natalia, it was a perfect time for the press to ask Lara about it. There were thus numerous articles; the following is a translation of the one in ‘Charts in France’ (http://www.chartsinfrance.net/The-Voice/news-102007.html#2y4YD1twtdmsCjQZ.99)
--------------------------------------------------------
"The Voice": Lara Fabian to replace Zazie? "I was approached"
Who will be the coaches of season 6 of "The Voice"? As Zazie seems to be leaving, Lara Fabian said the Production thought to engage her to replace her next year. And she would agree! "I would find it fantastic," she confided.
This is the game of musical chairs now for coaches of "The Voice". If MIKA and Garou have not revealed if they would be present in their red chair of the talent show of TF1 next year, Florent Pagny has already indicated that "he would be back, even if the singer of "Encore" intends to bow out in 2018 after seven seasons. Meanwhile, Zazie, on full tour and affiliated to the musical comedy "Le rouge et le noir", is obviously ready to slam the door of ‘the Voice’: "I do not see how to reconcile the two. In general, Production leaves little to attract people for beyond the fact that it's entertaining, it also demands a lot of energy to play the game. I would say rather not today. "
"I would be quite open"
So who might replace her? If Booba and Master Gims have indicated they were interested in becoming coaches, it's rather Lara Fabian who could take the place of Zazie. "I would love to, I would find it fantastic. I know there are coaches who go from it and I was approached for that and that the production of "The Voice" discusses this, "said the singer of "Ma vie dans la tienne" in ‘South Info’. However, the singer wanted to make known that she is not yet in talks with the production of "The Voice", but she is very interested in the idea of integrating the most popular talent show in France. "Me I have made known that seeing that they are discussing it, I'd be quite open," said Lara Fabian, launching a direct call to TF1.
Already a juror in "The Best: The best artist" on TF1 in 2013, Lara Fabian has visibly developed her thought. Co-coach in "The Voice" with Florent Pagny in season 2 of the show, the singer had been approached by the production during the first season but had to refuse for "scheduling reasons". However, last year, Lara Fabian had given her reservations about the role of coach in such broadcasts. "Personally, I'm not sure I would have found the courage to choose a person or not. I put myself in the place of the artist and I imagine the pain of a "no" or the difficulty of being accompanied, so I do not know if it's something I would have done with much ease but I would still have accepted the challenge, "she had then confided in an interview in the Blue Room of Twitter in October 2015.

It doesn’t hurt to ‘put yourself up’ for a position, but to do it so publicly might raise some eyebrows for the production. Perhaps Lara felt she had to, given her earlier doubts about participation. We’ll see if it works (and if it then interferes with her own touring schedule).
On Saturday, a day following ‘St. Jean Baptiste Day’ in Quebec , Lara was the guest of the show "L'autre midi à la table d'à côté" in the company of Stéphane Rousseau, a Canadian actor and comedian.

Stéphane Rousseau and Lara Fabian: Life on Stage
Entertainment, that knows them. Whether to laugh or be moved, these two artists have developed a mastery on stage. Stéphane Rousseau and Lara Fabian dive into confidences before a meal and discuss very human subjects, interspersed with tenderly sympathetic celebrity gossip.
The discussion is conducted under a relatively light tone. The agreement is very good between the two guests, which lend themselves to a game of seduction.
We learn also that the Belgian-Canadian Lara Fabian has a surprising humor. And Stéphane Rousseau can also shed a few tears. Very touching moments are on the menu.
----------------------------------------------------------------
For the most part it was in good humor, but sincere none-the-less. Among other things they talked about their childhoods, and about the different cultures and changes required going between Europe and Canada. The most startling revelation was that Lara’s father is suffering from fibromyalgia. Sad news, to have to carry this double burden [as do many of Lara’s fans as their parents get older]. It was interesting that once again, very personal news from Lara was revealed to the media in Quebec, where Lara undoubtedly feels very much at ease. At least Pierre has gotten pleasure from Lara’s singing with Natalia.
This topic was covered by many other news outlets as well.
BTW, Stephane Rousseau has himself suffered from numerous deaths of people close to him, as he discussed on the show. This included his father, mother, sister (who died from breast cancer at the age of 48). He said, “"Every time I was there, I saw them wither, die, I witnessed all that. Today I'm not paranoid at all, I can be, I am careful but not too much”.
In the fourth big news item, perhaps in answer to the question of how the promotion with Natalia was affecting the English album, Lara put the following picture on her FB site
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1157087457666083/?type=3&theater
with the caption, “While ‘Razorblade’ is in the air, continuing the work on the English album …Stockholm, Sweden.”
Lara is working in a team with Sharon Vaughn and Moh Denebi (both in the picture). According to ‘Wikipedia’, “Mary Sharon Vaughn is a Stockholm based American musician, songwriter and producer. She has written hits for artists such as Willie Nelson, Agnes, Kate Ryan, Boyzone, Namie Amuro and September. She has worked with country artists such as Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker and Kenny Rogers and she has been nominated for The Nashville Songwriters Foundation's Hall Of Fame three times. She has also worked with many Scandinavian songwriters and artists.” Moh Denebi is a Swedish/Iranian producer and songwriter based in Stockholm.
It is instructive that Lara is not doing this album with the team of Hesme and Gategno, responsible for ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’. Perhaps she feels that the sound has to be more ‘American’ – hence the country music influence . The good news is that this work is continuing, apparently in earnest.
In other news, Lara has released a video for TV Wallonie (http://tvwallonie.be/) supporting the rights of animals, for 'Animal Day' in Trooz, Belgium on October 29th. The video can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bfMmlZ9keA
Lara’s team provided a link to an article about the movie “Final Fantasy: The Dream Within (https://www.inverse.com/article/17234-the-final-fantasy-film-bombed-but-its-motion-capture-revolutionized-hollywood), and included the statement:
“Proud to have been part of this project, which has revolutionized Hollywood 15 years ago… Click this link to listen to "Final Fantasy: The Dream within": youtu.be/I5hqC3k9y8w [which of course is sung by Lara].
The article itself deals with the film “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within”, in which the song took place. It was the first time that “Performance capture [or ‘motion capture’], the art of digitally recording human movement and applying it to an animated character” was used. The film was not a hit, and the technology was considered risky, but as the article points out it is now used in big budget films, including Lord of the Rings, Spiderman, etc.
The last – and definitely least - item, (from a constructive News standpoint) : Lara’s Team put out the following announcement, “We are aware of the existence of a fake page ‘posing as’ official page of Lara Fabian, in order to sell products. Lara not selling smartphones, or other products. This is the only page of Lara Fabian on Facebook, (Certified by the symbol of authenticity blue to the right of the name). Team Lara”

Team Lara”

One imagines that the English album will now be getting the primary attention from Lara – that is unless something else comes up, like more doings about ‘The Voice’. Anyway, Stockholm is nice this time of year .
