After a quiet break following her just finished Belgian/French tour segment – and before her upcoming (first) eastern Europe segment – Lara is spending three days in Montreal to promote the new album. The ‘re-edition’ box set was released in Quebec on April 8th. She announced her trip on her FB site with an appealing Montreal photo, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1107140509327445/?type=3&theater
and the caption, “Montreal…in a few hours”.
Lara also posted another Montreal picture, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1107977172577112/?type=3&theater
and quoted lyrics from the song “Je me souviens”, along with a link to the song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu7iwEX96M4&feature=youtu.be)
Lara had presaged this visit with some posts on the Lara Fabian Montreal FB site on March 24th (https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=Lara%20Fabian%20Montreal), first with a short video of her receiving applause in Montreal, at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/872855649422600/.
It was accompanied by the words
“Thank you with all my heart Montreal...
I miss you already...
See you soon!”
An article about Lara’s (upcoming) visit appeared in the Canadian press (from 3/16) (http://fr.canoe.ca/divertissement/musique/nouvelles/archives/2016/03/20160316-090535.html); here’s the translation:

Lara Fabian: A box and a visit to Quebec
Lara Fabian offers a return to Quebec in April and proposes a new collection box.
Quebecoise by adoption, the Belgian-born singer of Canadian citizenship will be visiting Quebec's metropolis on April 11, 12 and 13th to present ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ - collector, a box including her most recent album and several extras.
The box includes two additional new songs and a DVD of the concert “Un soir autour du monde”. This film recorded live and performed in Prague was presented in halls in Europe.
‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, the original album, received a platinum certification following its launch in the fall of 2015. It includes the extracts ‘Quand je ne chante pas” and the title track of the disc.
Lara Fabian also recently proposed a video for ‘L’oubli’.
Ma vie dans la tienne - collector will be available on April 8th.
See the clip of the piece ‘L’oubli’.
------------------------------------------------
During this three day promotion, Lara has at least three media appearances. She indicated on her FB page that she “was to be the guest of Catherine Perrin in the radio show 'Medium large', Monday at 10 p.m. (local time / Montreal) on ICI Radio-Canada / Premiere)". This interview is available on youtube, thanks to ‘Operation Fan Club Lara Fabian’, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PrtqjLRL0I&feature=youtu.be
and also (thanks to PopFranco8090) at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq-GLRmC8CI
Here are the chief points:
**Her ‘engine’ for traveling around the world (except to Australia) is the desire to connect through emotions/music with other people.
**It is the new (re-edition) release that is being promoted (with the movie of ‘Un soir autour du monde), and this got some play in the interview (as an example of Lara’s “connectivity”).
**This connectivity also extends obviously to those close to her, which is what this album is (organically) about.
**Her mother’s illness, and her mother’s agreement to be involved in the video, were discussed. She repeated that the goal here was to bring this issue ‘out of the shadows’ so that people would feel free to talk about it.
**Lara’s singing of “Voir un ami pleurer” in Marseilles the night of the Belgian attacks was mentioned. Lara wondered what ‘dissolution’ drives people to produce these atrocities, feeling cutoff from humanity, and how can she help – perhaps a little, through music to divert anger.
**As a number of people pointed out, Lara’s French started off in the “France” mode, and gradually shifted to the ‘Quebecois mode/accent’.
Interesting that the host knew of her Marseilles appearance, indicating the publicity it received. Also interesting that they are promoting the recent release (including the DVD of ‘Un soir autour du monde’), rather than the ‘special edition’ from last year that had the song for Canada, ‘Je vais revoir l’hiver’ as a bonus. [So far, there has been no evidence that she’s even mentioned that song]. What they really should do is combine the older (deluxe) CD with its two bonus songs, along with the movie DVD in a special ‘Canadian’ edition, but one suspects they might think that is too much work (for what they may also imagine will be an unspectacular payoff). As far as I can tell, only one Canadian online store [amazon.ca] has the earlier ‘special edition’ available, and it sells for $100 Canadian (!). There is no indication that the new album has yet seen the light of day on Canadian charts, and it is somewhat unlikely that a three day promotion is going to do too much in that regard. However, it might help sell tickets for Lara’s concerts there in 2017. The fact that this trip is only three days may indicate the level of expectations Lara has for that country, commercially-speaking (but see the audience reaction to her, below).
Then Lara was on ‘En mode Savail”; there was a humorous promo for it at:
www.facebook.com/enmodesalvail/videos/1017366815021618/,
a picture of Lara with the host Eric Savail, at
www.facebook.com/ericsalvail.page/photos/a.467040883486.263083.278938173486/10154172906088487/?type=3&theater
and several pictures of her with Eric Savail and his guest the actor Benoit Mcginnis, as well as of her alone, at:
www.facebook.com/enmodesalvail/photos/a.500946009997037.1073741832.495902463834725/1017638531661113/?type=3&theater
Their caption for the first photo was “Thank you for being here and having participated with such great numbers in "the wheel singer"!!” This referred to a game in which they rotate a wheel (on a tablet device) with a list of the singer’s song titles, and wherever it stops, the singer has to sing that song. In Lara’s case, the choices, which fans were asked to vote on (and which may have come from Lara), were: Je t’aime; I Will Love Again; Tu t’en vas; J’y crois encore; and Pas sans toi. One person wrote in ‘Tu t’en vas’, because that’s how they felt when she left for Europe! Another fan complained that ‘Tout’ wasn’t on the list [and it has been omitted lately – it was not on her ‘World tour’, either]. The two songs that the ‘wheel’ came up with were ‘Pas sans toi’ and ‘Je t’aime’. About ‘Pas sans toi’, Lara said it was her preferred song, because it was “for the audience”, and that ‘Je t’aime’ was her greatest hit. A video of this, and Lara singing the short segments of them can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=01BDv7qOeq0
Then to close the show, Lara performed the latest single from her album, “Ton desir”, available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUIh1Dd1_LY
Lara looked great and was clearly very happy to be there [in fact, jumping up and down with joy ]. The hosts and fans appreciated her as well; here are a few of the (translated) comments of people who saw the show, in response to the question from the host as to how they liked Lara’s being there, as posted on the program's site (https://www.facebook.com/enmodesalvail/photos/pb.495902463834725.-2207520000.1460430640./1017596278332005/?type=3&theater):
----------------------------------
Chantal Hébert: Always as beautiful and talented no matter what she'll sing here it will be super good I adore her !! Eric hurry up to find her a house in Quebec
Marie Caloin: Good, super good, a ‘Pas sans toi’ full of emotion and a ‘Je t’aime’ in form as in her beginnings… It's good to hear. Can’t wait for the tour dates around here!!!!
Marianne Rioux I l.adore her! and so happy to see her again in Quebec. Frankly, why did she leave us for so many years without her! She would be our most beautiful voice! We love her!
Johanne Cyr: She seems so happy to be with them and we also are super happy!! She will announce a show at the Bell Centre?
Sandra Roberge I love you ..... I still know it !!!! I would have loved to be alongside Benoît McGinnis (too cute) to see Lara in interview and sing !!!!
Michèle Bédard: What talent, this Lara !! Wow, I adore hearing her sing! She is also very comical hihi. What to say about her interpretation of the song 'Je suis malade'!! She sang that song so well! I would have loved to hear her sing it tonight Eric Salvail. Well I would love to see her show!! Maybe someday !
---------------------------------------------------------
Other comments were of this same nature, and it leads one to suspect that Lara could regain some of this audience if she would devote more attention to them. Lara told the audience she was looking for a house in Quebec, hence the comment to that effect; other fans wrote in with house suggestions. [You may remember that a few years ago she said she would love to move back, but it would have to wait until Lou went to college…and also, presumably, when the situation with her parents is settled].
And later today (at 9 PM) Lara will be on “Les échangistes" on ICI Radio-Canada Télé
www.facebook.com/lesechangistes/?fref=ts
Concerning any upcoming concerts in the ‘new world’ – in response to a question, Lara’s ‘Team’ again indicated she will be touring in the United States in “early 2017” and also that Los Angeles will be one of the cities she visits. Most likely it will be still in support of ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, but if Lara is really working on an English album, it would make commercial sense to have it available sooner rather than later. The Canadian concerts have been rumored for next spring, and, perhaps in addition, it has already been advertised that she will be at the Francofolies in June (http://www.francofolies.com/artistes/artiste.aspx?id=8103). Yet there is nothing official on her site, and were ‘contracts signed’, these three days would be the time to announce it. One might expect to find the U.S. concerts in some proximity to them.
Back in the ‘old world’, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ has fallen five places on the French charts, to #24, while in Belgium it has risen 6 places to #3. Lara will not be doing any more touring in France until June, and she will be out of the country for several weeks period in both April and May; unless the new single(s) really help it’s hard to see the album gaining traction in the foreseeable future.
Lara is contributing a notebook with hand-written song drafts for her new album (among others) for charity. Here’s the (translated) article describing it (http://www.2ememain.be/collections/collections-divers/personnes-connues/recueil-chansons-d%C3%A9dicac%C3%A9-lara-fabian-285599886.html)

Meanwhile, with this trip over, Lara has a little more than a week before her next concert, in Romania. But she has to be very happy with her reception and the memories she evoked in “La belle province”.
