Lara is undoubtedly working on the rehearsals for the tour, now just two weeks away, so this past week was devoid of public appearances. To fill in the gap, Lara’s Team is linking to videos of past tours every few days, in a ‘count-down’. So far, they have chosen, from the "Nue" tour, ‘Si tu m’aimes’ and ‘Tango’
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnBBhR5F-8Y
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZoRAD-kB40&feature=youtu.be
and from "Toutes les femmes en moi font leur show", ‘La Difference’
www.youtube.com/watch?v=awkUFrPpWnw
One wonders whether there is any greater significance in the choice of these particular songs, such as their possible inclusion as ‘oldies’ on the tour. Even if that’s not true, all are obviously wonderful songs that would certainly be enjoyed by the audience.
As long as we’re in this ‘past video’ mode, two very worthwhile old videos (with Zarzuela) have recently become available on youtube (thanks to Paula for the ‘heads-up’):
Alleulia: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEKEGPtm4Vk
and
Humana: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l-Zj2AxaBs
.
Getting into this swing of things, Maurane (
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEdzCab6ABA
Turning towards future performances, this was Maurane’s lead-in to the notice of her appearing back-to-back with Lara at the ‘Festival Montauban en Scène’, next July 10th (http://www.montauban-en-scenes.fr/le-festival/lactu-du-festival). There was no explicit indication that they would actually perform together at that event.
Lara’s team announced that there will be a new date for a concert in Paris, and provided the link to ‘Decibel Productions’ (http://decibelsprod.com/dates/artiste/lara-fabian/), but it’s not there yet. One can notice that they don’t list the earlier Paris concert date (June 7th) [or the following date at the Liege forum], perhaps because there is no longer ticket availability. In addition, they don’t cover the seven April and May concerts in Eastern Europe (nor do they show up on her official URL) – for info on those, one has to go to Lara’s FB ‘Events’ page. Lara has been doing her own publicity for them, for example this video promoting the one in Cluj-Napoca, Romania on April 20th,
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yP09nHkAcM
Note also that various concerts (though again not the ‘foreign’ ones) are also listed on FNAC (http://www.fnacspectacles.com/mdr/recherche.do#/?q=LARA%20FABIAN&type=MANIFESTATION).
If Lara really wanted to maximize her exposure in a promotional video she could do worse than to choose the one put together almost a year ago by the ‘Operation Fan Club Lara Fabian’ site, which you might remember… it is at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0n4IYqLP2k&feature=share
It turns out that Lara’s appearance in Tokyo is part of "Nouveau Paris Festival 2016", of which she is the special guest:
wmg.jp/artist/larafabian/news_68821.html
This makes more sense than for her to go all that way for her own, single concert. And in a related development, Lara’s album is now actually available in Japan, at:
shop.wmg.jp/shop/g/gWPZR-30696/
This is all being mediated by Warner Japan – for Lara it is nice to be associated with such an internationally active company that is working to maximize her exposure.
In addition to the upcoming concerts, Lara will undoubtedly be having appearances to publicize them. One announced in the past week is with Veronic DiCaire on a new program, the ‘DiCaire Show’, to appear on France 2, March 12th. [One can find tickets for Veronic’s own tour on her page at www.veronicdicaire.com/]. She is known for her imitations of Lara, among others, and is a quite lively (Quebecois) personality.
On the charts, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ has risen eight places in Belgium, and is now back to #10. That means for 16 straight weeks it has been in the top 20, or as Lara’s Team happily pointed out, "again in the top 10". However, in France it has fallen out of the top 100, even in physical CDs, where it dropped 26 places to #108. It’s hard to remember a time when there was such a large discrepancy between these two country charts. Lara has been spending a lot of time emphasizing her Belgian origins (e.g., the GAEL publication), and perhaps that’s having an effect, maybe even in an opposite sense in the two countries.
Her team also acknowledged the upcoming re-edition of the new album, including the DVD ‘Un soir autour du monde’ (available from FNAC). They further mention ‘an unreleased song’, whereas other reports indicated there would be two. If the second is, as has been suggested, ‘Voce’, maybe they’re just not counting that.
LFIAG reports that there will be a new wave of promotion for the re-edition, including shows on France 2 (Vivement Dimanche), France 3, Canal, D8, M6, etc. along with some radio shows and magazine articles. The indication is that this will take place starting soon, and going into April.
Lara gave a shout-out to the Franco-Turkish film ‘MUSTANG’ on her Twitter site (
And continuing in this theme of ‘award shows’, there was an homage to Lara of sorts at the Cesars this week. It was in the form of an ‘adaptation’ of ‘Je t’aime’ sung by Audrey Lamy, with words changed to honor the ‘sound engineers’, whose award she was presenting. Here’s the (translated) story (http://www.huffingtonpost.fr/2016/02/26/audrey-lamy-cesar-2016-lara-fabian-je-taime-son_n_9331602.html):

A cover of the song "Je t’aime" of Lara Fabian reviewed and corrected by Audrey Lamy. It was one of the unexpected moments of the César ceremony this Friday evening.
To introduce the César Award for Best Sound, the comedienne chose to shout as ever, adapting the words: "I love you like with your pole and your lapel microphone". Being a true declaration of love to the sound engineers.
While some viewers have hailed her performance - it is true that it was daring, others have experienced a mild discomfort.

You can see the video of this at the link above…It went on for more than two minutes. Undoubtedly it brought Lara to people’s minds, although perhaps not in the best of ways.
And continuing the ‘shout-out’ theme, there is a new FB page for Lara, the "Lara Fabian notre raison de vivre” (our reason for living), at:

Good luck to them!

Offhand, one should expect another ‘quiet before the storm’ week coming up, but perhaps some of the promotions for the re-release of the album will begin. Also, we’ll see what Lara’s team has in mind to try to keep the pot boiling…
