A definite Sicilian take to the first part of the past week’s events…but then a return to the new album.
Lara spent part of the week back in Sicily this week, as she indicated on her FB site, for the filming of a show with Thomas Van Hamme to be broadcast soon on RTL TVI. There were several pictures posted on his website and copied on Lara’s, first with Mt. Etna in the background

with the caption “Lara, Etna… and me .Good kisses from Sicily!”
Also, the two of them on Mt. Etna

with the caption, “Second day of shooting in Sicily with the delicious Lara. An authentic artist, profoundly human and incredibly sunny. Thanks to you Lara Fabian. See you soon on RTL TVI. “
Van Hamme is a host on that station where he presents a program for a general audience ‘Tout s’explique’ as well as a prime time event “J’aime mon pays”. He also presents a morning show on radio; you may remember Lara was on his show several weeks ago (as covered by the News Update of 1/19). No indication yet when this program with Lara will be broadcast.
There is an additional picture from Catania, Sicily of Lara with her manager Matt Ersin (thanks to the Lara Fabian Turkey site), at:

Lara’s appearance on the show 'Un gars, un chef' on RTBF with Gerald Watelet and Adrien Devyver was broadcast this past week, visible at:

We’d already seen a brief clip from it several weeks ago in a video magazine presentation ‘L'instantané de Lara Fabian' (https://www.rtbf.be/video/detail_l-instantane-de-lara-fabian?id=2075659) (discussed in the 1/19 Update). This is a 44 minute cooking exhibition with various, generally food, discussions and much laughter. Lara is in her element, with her love of cooking and Sicilian dishes. Made by the chef with Lara overseeing were her dishes “Involtini de poisson gratins aux pistaches et citron” [rolled crab with cheese, pistachios and lemon], and “Pasta Alla Norma” [traditional Sicilian pasta dish of sautéed eggplant tossed with tomato sauce and topped with ricotta salata]. On the second dish Lara actively participated (and occasionally quite unconsciously switched into Italian).
As Lara mentioned here (and elsewhere) Lou has a passion for cooking and is learning Sicilian cooking. They also included the famous clip of Lara on “69 minutes Sans Chichi” (also on RTBF) of her ‘big garage’ comment while eating (~6 minute mark) with an insert of Lara apparently enjoying it (and not really blushing). There was a promo for the new album, as a brief introduction at the beginning of the show, and the showing of extracts of the video for the second single ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, (~ 14 minute mark), of the first single “Quand je ne chante pas’ (~32 minute mark), with some more extensive discussions following the videos. There was also some other references to her music (her beginnings) but the talk often shifted back to the meal being cooked.
In addition to her wonderful personality, the show really served to highlight Lara’s cooking insights – a one of a kind video.
And before we leave cooking entirely…:Lara’s FB site posted a teaser for the February GAEL article, with the (translated) comment: "What does Lara prepare when there is nothing in the fridge? The answer in GAEL magazine", and then they provide the following link (http://www.gael.be/lifestyle/gastronomie/367962/la-recette-express-de-lara-fabian). Here’s the translation:
-----------------------------------------
THE PASTA FAGIOLA of LARA FABIAN
I begin with a diced onion, garlic, carrot (even limp from the bottom of the fridge), cut tiny.
I fry it quite well as it should be in the olive oil. I pour two cans of borlotti [cranberry beans].
15 minutes later, I cook my pasta in chicken broth (I always have some frozen in the house).
And at the last minute, I add to it the borlotti with diced vegetables. It's a dense soup.
I add a little olive oil from our country, basil and Parmesan cheese before serving.
Learn how Lara Fabian magnifies the typical dishes of Sicily, the region of her mother, and Quebec, the heart of the Beautiful Province in February GAEL…

Lara then returned to Belgium, where she appeared on another BEL RTL program, “Club Music” Saturday evening, a 27 minute show where she was interviewed by Serge Jonckers and music from the new album was played. It is available to be heard at:
www.rtl.be/belrtl/Video/566800.aspx
Played, and discussed, were ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ (the song); ‘Elle dance’; ‘L’Oubli’ and ‘Quand je ne chante pas’.
In the interview, Lara spoke about her new tour. As summarized by the ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ site:
---------------------------------------
On the tour "Ma vie dans la tienne":
- Lara will pass through Hungary, Poland and the United States, among others, for "Ma vie dans la tienne - the concert".
- The old titles of Lara will be in the same tone as the songs of the last album and it's David Gategno who will arrange them on stage.
- The sound of the tour will be in an electronic concept and will blend in an organic concept the instruments and musicians present on stage (they will number four).
---------------------------------------
When asked on that site when the United States segment will take place, the tour’s organizer, ‘Odacity’, answered “We still do not know. To be continued…” And in response to a comment associated with last week’s News Update, they mentioned that ‘It will not be this summer’. There have not yet been any additional French locales added to the four already planned for June.
One more upcoming concert: various sites, including Lara’s itself, posted the news that Lara and Maurane will appear on stage next July in the show ‘Montauban en Scenes (https://www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1058921274149369/?type=3&theater) at the Jardin des Plantes in Montauban Tarn-et-Garonne (in the Mid-Pyrenes region in southern France). They’re not exactly performing together – Maurane’s show is at 21:00, and Lara’s at 22:30, in an evening dedicated to the two Belgian performers - but perhaps a duet of ‘Tu es mon autre’ is not out of the question…
The MZ FB site also noted that Lara is mentioned in an article in ‘Le Figaro’ about the death of Colin Vearncombe, commonly known as Black, the writer of ‘Wonderful Life’ (http://www.lefigaro.fr/musique/2016/01/27/03006-20160127ARTFIG00358-black-les-reprises-les-plus-originales-de-wonderful-life.php). The (translated) quote goes, “From Lara Fabian Zucchero, through Hyperchild, a metal band or Giuliano Palma & The Bluebeaters, they all sang the famous song of Colin Vearncombe, who died on Tuesday 26 January at the age of 53 years old following a serious road accident. Le Figaro offers to discover or replay the most original covers of Wonderful Life. They then show various videos of performances of the songs, including Lara's version with lyrics superimposed on background pictures, which is at:
youtu.be/PFn5U1qInF8
Note that Lara had a real, very affecting music video of it, that they didn’t use, available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE7j6Tja-C8
.
On the music charts, Lara’s new album (now 12 weeks old) has fallen to 86th place in France (for total sales, after having been 67th last week); in physical CDs, it’s 55th, a drop of 8 from last week. For comparison, Le Secret, in its 12th week, had fallen to 150 in physical CDs, so one would say this is notable progress. [On the other hand, the much maligned (in some circles, anyway) ‘Toutes les femmes en moi’ was 38th at the same point]. It has been noted that the new album was 48th in total sales in France in 2015, despite having been released in November; and that it has already been awarded a ‘gold record’ (http://www.snepmusique.com/les-disques-dor/?awards_cat=65&awards_awd=or&awards_year=0&awards_artist&awards_title&awards_edit_distrib&awards_sort=date_certif-desc&awards_nb=30&submitAdvanced=Rechercher), with total sales estimated now to be close to 79,000. In January it sold ~4,000 discs. As for the Belgium (Wallonia) charts, it has fallen two places, still high up at #13, having sold an estimated 8,000 copies in that country.
If ‘L’oubli’ has been officially released as the third single, it has not yet appeared on the charts. Lara did post on her Twitter site the following comment ():
“Working on the music video for "L'oubli"...”
That’s very good to know – it could be an extremely powerful video, if done seriously, and perhaps might boost album sales.
In other news associated with this album, don’t miss the (12) beautiful pictures from the photo-shoot for ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, available from the Lara Fabian est ton autre site at:

Continuing with a musical theme, Lara posed a link to an EP by Amalya from the iTunes store in France (https://itunes.apple.com/fr/album/amalya-ep/id1072424812?l=en), with the (translated) caption, “My Sunday with the music of Amalya.. Love it!”. Outside of France, or if one just wants to hear her, her music is available on Spotify, etc.
Lara’s role as a lyric writer came up this past week with the release of the lyric video for the song “You Are the One”, from the new album ‘Picture This’ by George Perris. It’s available on youtube (thanks to ‘Paula’ and the Lara Fabian Web site for the link):
www.youtube.com/watch?v=lesS6YtkgcM
Here are the lyrics:
------------------------------------
You Are the One
Music: Marco Marinangeli/George Perris
Lyrics: Lara Fabian/George Perris
Desperate and stranded
Walking with my friendly sorrow
Watching illusions
Vanishing with my tomorrows
Still I remember
Deep inside I pictured
This old dream I’d saved
Then…you took its shape
And….you changed
My reality
You are the one
You are the force that sets me free
Sharing your heart
Made me the man I want to be
I was wandering alone
When your soul made me whole
Then your touch showed the way
You are the one
Now that I’m flying
Every breath I take is perfect
I savor the moment
And smile knowing
I found the secret
I’ll never lose you
I know we create our living
With our true thoughts
You’re the essence of it all
My leap of faith
The dream within
You are the one
You are the force that sets me free
Sharing your heart
Made me the man I want to be
I was wandering alone
When your soul made me whole
Then your touch showed the way
You are the one who made me cry
When my tears were locked
In a maze of darkness
I could not believe
That those stormy times
Lead to you
You are the one
You are the force that sets me free
Sharing your heart
Made me the man I want to be
I was wandering alone
When your soul made me whole
Then your touch showed the way
You are the one
You are the one

Not exactly the most advanced of Lara’s lyrics, though one imagines it contains a lot of what Lara thinks about Gabrielle. ‘Paula’ noted that this was in addition to another song (lyrics) Lara wrote for the same album, “Un Souhait”.
Two of the articles discussed last week are still providing fodder for the press. GAEL magazine has an additional segment on 'Lara's fashion' (http://www.gael.be/rencontres/femmes-inspirantes/368630/lara-fabian-et-la-mode). Here’s the translation:
----------------------------------
Lara Fabian and Fashion
Our GAEL Guest Lara Fabian talks about her favorite fashion brand and its relation to shopping.
During our day with Lara Fabian, which you can see behind the scenes here, we asked her if she was addicted to shopping.
Here is her response:
"Basically, sorry for fashionistas readers of GAEL, I would be satisfied with 4 pairs of identical jeans. I have little pleasure in shopping because I panic in the fitting rooms.
When I was little, I fainted. With a chimney sweep dad and a mom at home, we do not dress on Louise Avenue, but at the Superconfex . I was claustrophobic. ' Pass some clothes over the head, pffff ... Stress, suffocation, rapidity, few resources.
At thirty, I had an extreme shopping time, a compulsive need to buy. This passed. Now, I like to be pretty, but super comfortable. I discovered the brand Sarah Pacini (i.e. the Belgian, Ed). The designer has become a friend. Her inspiration comes from the sari, which envelops you, marks your curves but without torture. Since in 2016, I cannot wear my clothes from 1990, I go there from time to time, and I take three or four pieces at once. "…
__________________________________________
We know that only in Russia does Lara really make an effort to dress up on stage, and then only because, as she says, it’s expected. So her preference for comfort in her daily life comes as no great surprise.
And based on last week’s article from ‘Nous Deux’, ‘pure people’ had its own discussion, translated below (http://www.purepeople.com/article/lara-fabian-et-sa-fille-lou-j-ai-le-coeur-qui-tremble-en-permanence_a171532/1
-------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian and her daughter Lou: "My heart trembles constantly"
Between pop star and caring mother, the girl has made her choice ...
Since the release of her new album entitled ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, released onto the shelves last November, the sympathetic singer Lara Fabian spares no pains to disseminate it to the public. The star, who delivers with this record very intimate texts on her husband or daughter, once again is confiding...
In ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, Lara Fabian has not failed to evoke her motherhood with the title ‘Le Coeur qui tremble', she is the proud mother of Lou (7 and a half years, born of her previous relationship with Gérard Pullicino) . It must be said that the singer, like her ‘sister’ Celine Dion with her children, places her daughter at the center of everything. "I do not want to miss anything of what she is. I have confidence in her, I feel she will be a nice person. I am a mom present but not oppressive, I think. Besides, if it was the case, she would not mind to say it to me", she tells the magazine Nous Deux.
And Lara Fabian, who defines herself as an "Italian mamma" as a result of her diverse origins, added: "I have a heart that constantly trembles for her." However, mother and daughter enjoy their complicity and singer spends much time at her side. "She has seen me on stage, but she does not care. When I turn on the TV, she does not look and that's just fine. I prefer," added the star. "What appeals most to Lou, it's the kitchen! And it's good, I love being in the kitchen!" Lara Fabian laughs. That's enough to occupy the long winter evenings ...

Lara’s FB site announced that tonight she will be on stage at Le Femina theater in Bordeaux, to meet the listeners of RFM (https://www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1058928194148677/?type=3&theater). This afternoon one can hear an interview with her live on RFM (around 16.15 local time) (also via the web player www.rfm.fr/player). In addition to these continuing promotional efforts, we’re now in February, and the first concerts are six weeks away. One would imagine that rehearsals will become increasingly the order of the day, as the embryo of “Ma vie dans la tienne – the concert” starts to develop. What Lara has mentioned about it sounds intriguing, let’s hope it lives up to the quality of the album itself.

I could not believe
That those stormy times
Lead to you
You are the one
You are the force that sets me free
Sharing your heart
Made me the man I want to be
I was wandering alone
When your soul made me whole
Then your touch showed the way
You are the one
You are the one

Not exactly the most advanced of Lara’s lyrics, though one imagines it contains a lot of what Lara thinks about Gabrielle. ‘Paula’ noted that this was in addition to another song (lyrics) Lara wrote for the same album, “Un Souhait”.
Two of the articles discussed last week are still providing fodder for the press. GAEL magazine has an additional segment on 'Lara's fashion' (http://www.gael.be/rencontres/femmes-inspirantes/368630/lara-fabian-et-la-mode). Here’s the translation:
