A quiet holiday week for Lara, who nevertheless felt motivated enough to put some posts on her FB page. She provided a “Merry Christmas” message (in many languages) along with a photo of herself in front of a Christmas tree and presents, visible at:

You may remember that this appeared on the PBS Show ‘From Lara With Love’, but not the version shown in the U.S., only the longer one broadcast in Europe. This is a high quality video. The song was never included on any English album, and a DVD of that concert was never released by Sony, although they listed it on their website as being available two years in a row. Despite all of that, one occasionally hears this on the radio; apparently Sony did make a radio version available. Their level of incompetence with respect to Lara is hard to fathom.
And this morning she posted the video of her recounting her magical memory of Christmas in support of the association ‘Les petits frères des Pauvres’, from December of 2013. In the video she encourages people to help the poor who won’t easily have memories such as this, where they get their heart’s desire (in this case, a small brown dress).

Have you made New Year’s resolutions for 2016?
Maria: Oh, I’ve stopped! I don’t have any, I could invent them (Lara gives out a big laugh), I assume.
Lara: Same thing for me, I don’t make them any more. I would rather make universal greetings of peace, of serenity and of appeasement for tomorrow.
We are the day after the attacks in Paris. It is a very special Saturday…
Maria: Lara was perturbed this morning. Nevertheless, we decided to film the program. I thought that has been very positive therapy. We have succeeded in putting ourselves in a bubble.
Lara: Effectively, I had a loved one 80 meters from one of the people who blew himself up. Beyond the fact that the people I love are fine, I was shocked for humanity. But I don’t want to suspend my life.
You are in top form. Can we know your secret? Sport?
Maria: I enrolled in a room, I took a coach, and I paid a subscription for months that I haven’t honored. They had to build a second pool thanks to me…I am not a sportswoman.
Lara: Me also, that doesn’t happen! A friend asked me: “How much did you lose?” I answered “1800 Euros! Not a gram, not a centimeter.” I have no secret. It is necessary just to surround oneself with caring people.
Where will you be December 31st?
Maria: For 20 years, I have worked in ‘La Revue du Theatre des Galeries'. I’m not participating this time. I’m going to have a peaceful time with a handful of friends around a raclette.

A nice event from 2015 to share?
Maria: Since it is “L’Annee des stars”, I am going to cite to you my two favorite meetings: Lara and Matt Pokora, a nice guy whom I adore.
Lara: I understand, Matt makes people dream all while being in phase with life! The film “Human” of Yann Arthus-Bertrand stood out for me. I had to take a box of tissues. It is a catch of incredible awareness. It offers us many moments where one reconnects to the essential.

A lot of ink spent on Lara Fabian over the past few years. Admittedly, one of the favorite singers of the French was a bit lost over her last albums, ranging from disappointing projects to projects unworthy of her stature. She has also paid a high price: tour canceled for dubious reasons, unnoticed albums, singles disappointing and incomprehensible, reputation again undermined in the media. With the release of ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ this year, we can finally rejoice of finding the Lara Fabian of her beginnings. Whether it be at the level of the melodies, lyrics, voice, articulation, the album is clearly placed among a Carpe Diem or a Nue. I especially keep the titles "Le désamour", "S'il ne reste qu'un ami", "Envie d'en rire", "Le coeur qui tremble", "Ton désir", "Elle danse", "Relève-toi" et "L'oubli", being 8 of 11 titles, a nice score is it not. So the great Lara Fabian, who was right to return to simplicity and obviousness in her artistic choices. While her new single is struggling to get a place on the air, the singer announces a European tour for the spring of 2016. It will include the Paris Convention Centre June 3, 2016.

As to how the album is doing: it has moved up two more places, to 22 for physical sales in France, in its 7th week. We can estimate that it has probably now sold more than 60,000 copies. In Belgium, it is #9, having been in the top 10 all 7 weeks. So it is performing considerably better than ‘Le Secret’, a good end to the year.
