Lara had a few more high profile TV appearances this past week, and she came off extremely well. One such was her appearance on ‘Folie Passagère’, which had some 800,000 viewers. The program is described as “a broadcast that confronts artists from two different universes, of song / movie / sport ... which presents an ordinary human who does something extraordinary (action, association ...), and the goal being to show the singularity of each of the histories, all through stories, skits, by putting them in danger (leaving the artist out of his comfort zone, and rubbing against another "art" than his own).”
The artist of ‘a different universe’ whom Lara was ‘confronting’ was Pascal Elbé, a French actor and director and screenwriter (there were other guests as well). More generally, though, the program involved having Lara appear in skits and interviews, though it turned out she was also called upon to sing several songs (hence in her comfort zone). Various videos are available of it on youtube (and elsewhere), most of them placed there interestingly enough by the show itself.
There is Lara joining in on the song ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’,

Then, rescuing Aurore Deplae and Thomas Nucci in their attempt to sing ‘Tu es mon autre’,

Getting a lot of publicity, was Lara’s ad-hoc spoofing of ‘Je t’aime’ to fit a sketch of two people skiing. Done with Daniel Morin, he started it by asking her why she sang so strongly, then gave an altered-text imitation of that song. Lara, then turned the tables:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnKFMMNmU_E
This sketch was not rehearsed ahead of time, yet Lara took it over.
In another sketch Lara and Pascal Elbé ‘exchanged personalities’. Of course, this also included him being helped to sing a bit of ‘Je t’aime’ (Lara will never escape it!). They also give each other nice compliments, and Lara ended up briefly kissing Nosman Hosni the game’s ‘host’:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=naMuDh1a9Q0
[It would have been even better if the two ‘personalities’ were hypnotized and then told to exchange, a la ‘Le stars sous hypnose’].
The sincerity in which Lara sang ‘Je t’aime’ became the subject of discussion with Frederick Lopez in another short segment, that can be seen at:

This, in its own way, is progress – rather than the song being a subject of ridicule, it is now one of well-meaning humor! Part of that has to do with Lara’s response to it…more on that below…
On a more personal level, she was also called upon to recount the most significant moments of her life, i.e., what would be in ‘the film of Lara’. We would find her singing ‘Mamy Blue’ as an infant, coming in contact with music, moving to Quebec, with Rick Allison, her first appearance on TV there, and of course Les Enfoires and Johnny Hallyday.

Lara’s singing was top-notch, especially in comparison to the show’s cast members! But even more generally, it was apparent that she is a star of great magnitude with humor, intelligence, alertness…It helped that Pascal Elbé was a quieter, refined personality (with depth); that let Lara take the spotlight even more.
None of that is any surprise, of course. But what was surprising – even shocking – was Lara’s appearing in a short skirt, showing her legs! Of all the elements of this fine show, fans commented on that perhaps more than anything else. Part of her new found confidence – or a requirement by the show .
It was pointed out on the MZ FB site that Lara has been interviewed by the program’s host Frederic Lopez in Lara's Prague concert movie 'Un soir autour du Monde ", speaking about love; that can be seen at www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeA2HHr7Ul8&feature=youtu.be.
Then Lara was on the program ‘C'est votre vie P. Sébastien’ (This is your life, Patrick Sebastien) - a show which had 3.2 million spectators. Her performances were more formal, but one was again a humorous reworking of a song, of one of his hits this time. Lara sang wonderfully (in a gown):
"Ah si tu pouvais fermer ta gueule" (Ah, if you could shut your mouth)

Patrick Sébastien was on France 2 this Saturday. But for once, as is not the custom, he was the invitee. In the chair of the broadcast of Stéphane Bern, he was treated to several surprises. One of which was on the part of Lara Fabian full of self-mockery.
Accompanied by a mini-orchestra and singers behind our compatriot, known for her ‘songs of voice’, she reinterpreted in her own way “Ah si tu pouvais fermer ta gueule” [Ah, if you could close your mouth], the populist-festive hit of Patrick Sébastien on the political class. A large explosive gap [in content] welcomed by the host who even got down on his knees.

------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian causes buzz with her cover of " "Ah si tu pouvais fermer ta gueule" of Patrick Sebastian, on the set of the show "C'est votre vie" Saturday night on France 2. Look!
Patrick Sébastien was the guest of Stéphane Bern on the show "C’est votre vie", broadcast Saturday night on France 2. The singer-host has been promoting his new album "Ça va bouger" released for the end of the year holidays, and on which are included 14 new songs. Tributes proceeded during the evening, and it is notably Lara Fabian who has put the spotlight on herself and her performance. "A singer with an exceptional voice has prepared for you a special version of this signature song from your repertoire” launched Stéphane Bern to Patrick Sébastien, inviting him to guess who it was.
"This artist, you know her well, she often came on your programs, you'll be surprised ..." while his interlocutor suggested, in a tone of humor, the name of Carla Bruni. But it is ultimately the singer of "J’y crois encore" who advanced onto the stage in the middle of an orchestra. Lara Fabian immediately sang an original and falsely poignant version of the song “"Ah si tu pouvais fermer ta gueule" ["Oh, if you could shut your mouth"] of Patrick Sébastien, causing laughter in the room. Demonstrating self-irony, the artist has heavily insisted on the serious tone of her interpretation, contrasting thus with a very direct text, in line with what Patrick Sébastien has made a habit of signing.
The emcee of the "Plus grand cabaret du monde" seems to have enjoyed this reprise. "But this is a masterpiece," he declared after the performance, saying in confidence that Lara Fabian had told him one day backstage, "she would have loved to sing ‘Une petite pip avant aller dormir' with a large orchestra." "Oh, if you could close your mouth, it was directed at the politics and also to me," he finally concluded, visibly touched.
This presentation moreover created a buzz on social networks since, as Internet users were themselves also very amused. Too bad this would still not benefit the sales of the new album "Ma vie dans la tienne" of Lara Fabian, released in early November and currently still low in the charts. Promoted by "Quand je ne chante pas" and the title track "Ma vie dans la tienne," the disk has attracted 53,000 French [buyers] and will also be defended on stage next year as part of a tour that will include stops at the Palace Congress in June.
--------------------------------------------------------
And one more: from (http://www.ozap.com/actu/quand-lara-fabian-reprend-ah-si-tu-pouvais-fermer-ta-gueule-de-patrick-sebastien/486032):
-----------------------------------
Yesterday, France 2 paid tribute to Patrick Sébastien. In prime time, the channel has appointed Stéphane Bern, to care for presenting "This is your life!", An entertainment in honor of his colleague. Kendji Girac, Anggun, Florent Pagny, Serge Lama and Shirley and Dino came to greet the presenter of "Plus grand cabaret du monde."
Lara Fabian, meanwhile, preferred to dwell on the other hat Patrick Sébastien: that of the author and performer of popular songs like "La fiesta", "Le petit bonhomme en mousse, "Pourvu que ça dure" and of course" Une Petite Pipe". On the stage of France 2, the singer has taken the title "Ah, si tu pouvais fermer tu gue'le..."
"They do nothing except to make us promises they never keep. The only thing that interests them is to get on TV. Everything preened while in make-up, they come to talk to the newspaper while from the bottom of the cafes the sound of the choir", she began hyper seriously, with her diva voice. Then she started the famous refrain: "Ah, if you could close your mouth, it would give us a vacation. Ah, if you could close your mouth, it would be good for France". A performance that entertained Patrick Sébastien...
----------------------------------------------------------
Of course the title refers to a criticism Lara has often received! One can see the pattern here, in both these shows: Lara is acknowledging, and utilizing, the past criticism of herself to ingratiate herself with her audience, and doing it with wit (not that this means she agrees with it). Another knock on her was that she had no sense of humor about herself (e.g., her strongly negative reaction to ‘Les Guignols’), that she thought too highly of herself. By laughing with her audience at herself she is implicitly saying that none of it is that important, that she is not that important. Lara has said one of the things that came out of her near-career-death experience with the acoustic shock was that she realized what was truly important. Once this barrier between her and her critics is removed, they can fully appreciate her immense talent with no reservations.
The gown Lara wore got special attention, as she posted a photo of it on her FB page:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1032973146744182/?type=3&theater
A fan wrote in, saying (in translation) “Wow I didn't recognize her! Looks like a terrific actress of old movies in black and white who had this incomparable charm”. To which Lara’s team wrote back, “That's the idea “.
Other versions of it got special attention from Lara, on Twitter at:
and with Kendji Girac, at:

Then Lara had a more standard performance (probably lip-synced) of the song ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ (in a skirt):
www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSIBZqqj88A
The full show is available on NOABBOX.
Lara was also on the Belgian version of the game show “L'académie des 9’, answering some questions (or trying to), in a game that has the contestants try to form a tic-tac-toe win. She again presented ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ (now in an attractive pants suit) (thanks to Lara Fabian – PHQ for the video):
www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIm2QqTkkuQ
Again the show is available on NABBOX.
As to how all of these appearances are really affecting the sales of the new album: despite the comment from ‘Charts in France’, they do seem to be having a positive effect. The album has risen two places, to 25th in total sales (physical + digital) in France, while remaining at #8 in Belgium. The ‘Charts in France’ article noted that it had sold 53,000 copies in France. If so, it would already qualify as a gold record (which requires 50,000 copies in France).
In other news, and in somewhat less glamorous surroundings, Lara helped feed the poor in the holiday season. An article with pictures about this can be found at (http://www.lavenir.net/cnt/DMF20151221_00754417?pid=2439159). Here’s the translation:

Namur: Lara Fabian at the service of the poor
Florent Marot - L'avenir
Christmas [Noel] Solidarity, these are recognized chefs who cook for the poorest people in Namur . A charitable operation, in which Lara Fabian participated on Monday evening. "I came to help, in all simplicity," said the Belgian-Canadian singer.
"It's Sang Hoon who told me about the concept of Noel Solidarit, I wanted to help." THer face half hidden by a cap, Lara Fabian served hundreds of dishes in near-anonymity. An anonymity that did not last long. A small crowd quickly came to ask for autographs and souvenir photo selfies. An exercise to which the singer responded with pleasure and availability.
Noel solidarity has once again won wide acclaim with more than 800 people. Nearly two dozen leaders were present and active in the kitchen, with a double star: Sang Hoon Degeimbre, a friend of Lara Fabian and chef of ‘L’Air du temps’ in Liernu. Some artists also came to accompany this beautiful evening such as Marka. All in a festive and friendly atmosphere, worthy of the most beautiful Christmas Eve.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
And then, with slightly different details, a (translated) article in ‘La Derniere Heure” (thanks to LaraFabianWeb for the link) (https://www.facebook.com/353946178085395/photos/a.353954938084519.1073741828.353946178085395/787229571423718/?type=3&theater)

Lara Fabian mobilizes
In complete discretion, the singer helped the teams of Noel Solidarity Monday night
Noel Solidarity, it is an organization that invites every year several hundred people and poor families to spend a dream evening, by the intermediary of 40 Namur associations.
Each year, artists and people from the TV answer the call. After Jaoli, BJ Scott and Marka Lara Fabian went to spend a few hours in Namur to help the chefs of Generation W and the volunteers who served a gala dinner to 800 handicapped people, isolated, or in poverty.
Quietly, without makeup, almost hidden under her cap, the singer went to lend a hand to the dressing, acting in the shadow while other personalities welcomed the invitees of this Noel Solidarity, like Adrien Joveneau, Olivier Leborgne or Thomas Van Hamme.
If Lara was there to work and not to play the star, it does not mean she snubbed the public and willingly posed for some selfies.
In the kitchen too, there were Belgian stars and no less than eleven leaders of gourmet restaurants, better cheese producers of Belgium and their teams having prepared a gastronomical menu for this Christmas Eve ahead of time.
.
Among them, Sang Hoon Degeimbre (2 stars), Julien Lahire (Duel en cuisine), Carl Gillain (Top Chef), but also Olivier Bourguignon (who headed the kitchen of the Belgian pavilion Millan) and other illustrious members of the collective Generation W.
This is the 4th time that the event has occurred in Namur. It could be held in Liege or other Wallonnes cities next. Megali Veronesi

In an activity of a somewhat similar nature, Lara called in to the program ‘Viva for Life’ on RTBF this morning, a show that raises support for those less fortunate children during this season. A brief (translated) article describes her comments (http://www.rtbf.be/vivacite/emissions/detail_viva-for-life/les-people/article_lara-fabian-on-ne-se-rend-pas-compte-de-la-misere-qu-il-y-a-chez-nous?id=9170907&programId=5973):

Lara Fabian: "People do not realize that there is poverty here"
Loyal supporter of the operation, it was important for Lara Fabian to support this morning. Particularly affected by this vulnerability, she recalled that even a small donation can make a difference and change a life!
You are faithful to the RTBF and VivaCité, you are there, you trust us. Now we need you. Together, we must improve the lives of these children in need. Without you, we do not get there. Donate.

Lara put some photos on her FB site of holiday festivities and events. In one, she posted some shots from the restaurant and the same chef mentioned in several of the above articles, along with the comment, “One of the best moments that I spent in a restaurant for a long time… Thank you san!!!”, visible at:
Also, remember the line from ‘Ton desir’ where Lara says she wants Gabriel to be looking at her ‘décolletage’? Well, in one of these pictures, she shows what she means!
Then she posted the following picture,

with the caption, “Great meetings before the holidays.. Tiziano Ferro, so cool! . Tiziano Ferro (https://www.facebook.com/tizianoferro/info/?ref=page_internal) is an Italian singer/songwriter.
Lara is in the February issue of GAEL, which was just released. The cover can be seen (thanks to Lara Fabian – PHQ) at:

It says: “GAEL guest: Lara Fabian. The Belgian has one million fans on Facebook transcending all borders. She confides to us her Italian recipes (the country of her mother) and Canadian (the country of her heart). She interviews a ‘Flemish’ personality …She jumps barriers; can one live her emotions in the frame of work?” Hopefully at some point we’ll get some scans of this…
In upcoming events, the broadcast of "Vendredi tout est permis" with Arthur will take place on December 31st on TF1. On New Years Day, there will be a retransmission of the Bel RTl showcase. On January 2nd, ‘Le grand blind test’ will be shown on TF1.
And Lara will be on the show “Une nuit avec les héros de la santé” January 5th on France 2. As suggested by the title, it is a show dedicated to medical personnel who look to advance medical research. An article, about it, with a picture of Lara, can be found at:

The full show is available on NOABBOX.
Lara was also on the Belgian version of the game show “L'académie des 9’, answering some questions (or trying to), in a game that has the contestants try to form a tic-tac-toe win. She again presented ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ (now in an attractive pants suit) (thanks to Lara Fabian – PHQ for the video):

Donate.

A video of the show with Lara’s call is available at:

Lara put some photos on her FB site of holiday festivities and events. In one, she posted some shots from the restaurant and the same chef mentioned in several of the above articles, along with the comment, “One of the best moments that I spent in a restaurant for a long time… Thank you san!!!”, visible at:
Also, remember the line from ‘Ton desir’ where Lara says she wants Gabriel to be looking at her ‘décolletage’? Well, in one of these pictures, she shows what she means!
Then she posted the following picture,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/1030468996994597/?type=3&theater
with the caption, “Great meetings before the holidays.. Tiziano Ferro, so cool! . Tiziano Ferro (https://www.facebook.com/tizianoferro/info/?ref=page_internal) is an Italian singer/songwriter.
Lara is in the February issue of GAEL, which was just released. The cover can be seen (thanks to Lara Fabian – PHQ) at:
www.facebook.com/353946178085395/photos/a.353954938084519.1073741828.353946178085395/784264328386909/?type=3&theater

And with this last image of Lara’s commendable sentiment in mind, here’s wishing for ‘peace on Earth, good will toward all people’. Happy Holidays to Lara and to all of you!
