The big news this past week, this year in fact, was the release of Lara’s new album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’. While the official release was primarily in France and Belgium, it was made available from Internet sites in France and Canada, as well as ‘The Stereo Boutique’, webstores associated with Warner Music. Therefore, there is world-wide access, to some degree at least, of the physical CD, and even more worldwide access via iTunes (though not everywhere - it is not (yet) available in the States. The physical album contains some nice pictures of Lara along with the lyrics in a booklet, as well as some pictures of her and her co-writers on the box itself.
Given the album's importance, we’ll reverse the usual procedure and start with the on-line articles associated with it or with Lara, beginning with some reviews. To make matters easier, the articles are numbered [if you hadn’t suspected it already, that shows this is going to be a long update:|].
1) First one up is from pitiblog (http://www.ptitblog.net/Lara-Fabian/lara-fabian-retour-a-la-variete-efficace-des-debuts_art13013.html) by Julien Piraud. Here is the translation:

Lara Fabian: Return to the effective variety of her debuts
The arrival of a new album of Lara Fabian is always a mini event in the media sphere, as the bond between the singer and her audience is strong. After a long journey through the desert made of declining albums in Francophone countries and health concerns, the singer seems finally to have refound the path to success, and offers here a new successful album, where melodies and lyrics mark a return to the strong songs of her beginnings. At the time of accounting with ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, will Lara Fabian resume her place of yesteryear?
It has been a long time since a project of Lara Fabian had found favor in our eyes ... we must admit that the artist was lost in overly complicated projects at times, bad ones at others. Since the release of her album 9 in 2005, she had great difficulty in convincing the public and the consequences on her album sales were immediate. The failed release of her cover album ‘Toutes les femmes en moi’ in 2009 even was penalized by a breach of contract with her record company Universal Music the following year. Less present in Francophone countries at that time, Lara Fabian then focused on the countries of the East, where the ambitious project Mademoiselle Zhivago allow her to make a film to illustrate the songs. Due to its extreme harshness at times, the singer finally boycotted the release of the images to the chagrin of her fans who saw in it a way to redeem her credibility lost long ago.
In 2013, she made her return to Francophone countries with the project ‘Le Secret’, a musical journey towards the search for inner happiness. An album that we had taken some time to understand before appreciating it in its whole but poorly received by critics, and in which it is true the singer was fishing for her vocal technique, making it difficult to understand lyrics. Judged too complicated, not commercial enough, not popular enough in the sense of the accessibility of the project, sales will be scarce and the project a little bit shaken by various disappointments. The most important of these was the hearing accident that the singer suffered in full promotion of the album. The consequence was terrible for her career: despite certain dates doing her best at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, she had to reconcile herself to the complete cancellation of her tour "Le Secret" and incur thousands of disappointments from her fans of the first hour, who were going to be happy to see their idol after such an absence. A traumatic experience for the artist, then reduced to silence to recover. What will follow were a few dates scattered in Eastern Europe to rediscover the taste of the stage and regain little by little the full possession of her instrument. A capture of these moments in Prague serve as a postcard memory of this period. "One night around the world" will be broadcast in all the cinemas on November 6, evening of the release of her new album.
This year, she is thus more determined than ever to resume her place that Lara Fabian announced her return a few months ago with the title "Quand je ne chante pas." A lead single chosen to usher in the album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ a project that sounds like a new record for the artist, who takes the time, such as one would do in flipping through a photo album, of writing text to each of her relatives. Whether it be her best friend in "Ma vie dans la tienne" or companion in life in "L’illusioniste", or other titles dedicated to life experiences, Lara Fabian here offers a very personal album that she wanted as a tribute to those who shape her in the shadows, and the resilience that was hers in the course of the tests she had to undergo.
Composed and written with the help of David Gategno and Elodie Hesme, the album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ renews with the quality of the debut albums. Located between a ‘Carpe Diem’ in 1994 and a ‘Nue’ in 2001, the album offers effective titles to catchy melodies. Voice aside, there is nothing to say, there will be something for everyone. This one who had known a relentless media several years ago, and which had muted her full voice in order to "lower the volume" seems here to fuck the critics and sing, simply sing. "Le désamour"placed in 3rd position in the tracklist is our first favorite. The punchy melody and gravelly voice of the artist blend perfectly for a title that would make an excellent single and that would show another side of the artist. This is often the problem with Lara: risk-taking is not fully taken and it is often the most "Fabianesque" singles that are extracts from her albums. Or there is a concern of communication with the label which puts out the worst titles of the album ... let's face it that no, definitely, "Quand je ne chante pas" and "Ma vie dans la tienne" are not the best tracks of this album. One would have preferred, for example the magnificent "S’il ne reste qu’un ami", where the building crescendo of the piece gradually immerses us in a flood of tears and emotions. It is good to hear again the singer from her debuts who seemed forever lost and nothing more than the ghost of herself in her latest projects.
"Envie d’en rire" in 5th position will take time to find favor with our ears. The song is gentle and highlighted by bossa sounds that hit the bulls eye. It oscillates between gipsy inspirations, bohemian, accordion and melodica . The rangaine [repeated segment] is heady and it is clear that the piece remains in the head. In "Le coeur qui tremble" we find the next "ballad that makes one cry", meaningful in the universe of Lara Fabian and which is often the awaited moment in her shows. A title backed by a winning trio with keyboards, piano and guitar. We arrive at the most festive song of the album "Ton désir", which could be the third official single from the album. The final is grandiose, with a chorus that gives the title an explosive end. Besides, the choirs are performed here by two voices that we know well: Amalya ("The Voice" season 1) and Ludivine Aubourg ("The Voice" seasons 1 & 2), both discovered in the famous television show of TF1. The ensemble is very successful and indeed would make a very good single if the choice were to be confirmed by her new Warner Music France label.
"L’illusionist" is as we said above a tribute to her husband, magician in life. So while the approach is honorable, the piece is really a bunch of words set to music without really getting through to touch us. The singer is pleasing herself but we are left a bit to the side of this title that sounds like a soft ballad dressed by the notes of a glockenspiel. "Elle danse" makes us think immediately of "Danse", the second single from her last album Le Secret. At notable difference is that here we perfectly understand the words, which was not the case with the bad "Danse" of yore ... "Elle danse" is placed square in our favorite album tracks. The melody is again effective and modern, it is ultimately all that was expected of Lara Fabian, more evidence.
"Relève-toi" will please fans of well-chewed songs. The voice of the singer is beautiful and really there and will appeal to those who prefer power. A song that sounds like a battle cry for those who knew, who ought to have especially, to recover from the many tests in her career and her life as a woman. “That's life” we say? and actually this song sounds like a cry of hope to those who have some challenges to manage and as a cry of optimism to life, an ode to perseverance and action. "What does not kill you makes you stronger ... as you get lost in wanting to please, there is despair", the message is clear and Lara Fabian seems to have found this strength in the course of her tests. The album ends with the beautiful final "L’oublie," which begins with Eastern sounds that open the way for an interstellar trip. This is our last favorite of the album, a grand finale as often the singer knows how to propose one, so that at the end of her album we have the desire to replay. It was necessary to wait since 2001 and the release of ‘Nue’ that finally one of her albums gives us that feeling! "L’oubli" on lean times? In any case, the title proves to those who wrote that the voice of the singer had lost power that she can still give her best. At 45, Lara Fabian has lost none of her enthusiasm and seems to have regained faith in her instrument. Here she is no longer afraid to use it at full speed, even displeasing, basically she has nothing to prove to anyone.
It would have been wrong to bury quickly Lara Fabian who makes a return to the quality of her beginnings. On albums slowed due to health problems constraining her, to the media estrangement, she finally shows that a career of an artist is made of ups and downs. She proves especially that there is no end, in short, and that she has always been able to seize on the ball in a leap to get back under the spotlight. Even if the love of her audience has never been denied, the singer has engaged in a media reconquest since 2013 seeking to redeem credibility and a vacant place that she no longer had. Today, in 2015, and with the arrival Friday of her new album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, one would think that finally Lara Fabian will regain her pedestal and open the way to beautiful media coverage. In any case the path seems all mapped when the quality is there we must ignore the past and accept that nothing is immutable.
She has obviously been able to surround herself artistically better than in the past, and found a working team as strong as the one that she formed with her Pygmalion of her beginnings Rick Allison, so she has all the tools to prepare a nice tour in 2016 and ensure some beautiful sales of her new rather successful album Ma vie dans la tienne. True to the land of her birth, she will begin her European tour in Belgium in March before returning to the Paris Convention Centre on June 3, 2016. We conclude with a word: finally!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Julian Piraud has had a long history with Lara, even once having hada fan site for her, but has expressed his disappointment in the way her career has gone over the years. One can imagine he has been waiting to use some of the above comments for a long time! As to his prediction that it will be a big commercial success, all one can say is, “From his lips to God’s ears” .
He does have some success with predictions of this sort, but to recount it, we have to realize that all is not really as it seems. In the story line he has crafted here, this is Lara’s return to really singing, and her first notable album since 2001. Nevertheless, as he briefly referred to, he did give ‘Le Secret’ a positive review. In fact, here is the first (translated) portion of it (http://www.ptitblog.net/Lara-Fabian/lara-fabian-avec-le-secret-la-chanteuse-revient-avec-un-projet-soigne_art9029.html)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian makes her return with class and elegance.
True to her desire for artistic freedom, Lara directs her music where it is least expected and delivers a double album of 17 original songs, all written by her pen, that is certainly not commercial but is worthy of the finest pieces of French song. Lara Fabian will certainly have some great reviews from the media and earn critical acclaim, but in my opinion it will be more difficult to impose this universe to the general public.
---------------------------------------------------------------
So his comments in this new review about ‘Le Secret’ are somewhat of revisionist history, undoubtedly influenced by the relative lack of commercial success he presciently predicted – but that did not make it any less of a great album. Let’s hope he’s equally as astute concerning this new album’s sales.
2) Here is another review, from ‘labox medias’ (http://laboxmedias.com/2015/11/04/chronique-que-penser-de-lalbum-ma-vie-dans-la-tienne-de-lara-fabian/), translated below:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Chronicle: What do you think of the album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ of Lara Fabian?
Thomas Monnier in Box Music
Lara Fabian
More than two years after her album ‘Le Secret’ and some health concerns later, Lara Fabian finally makes her grand return. The singer came back this summer with the single ‘Quand je ne chante pas’, before launching the soft ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’. What is the 2015 vintage of Lara Fabian? Reply.
The first question that arises is: Lara Fabian has she chosen the right first single with ‘Quand je ne chante pas? Clearly not. The title is sympathetic, it wants to be 'real' but is quickly boring. However, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, second single, much more sedate, refined, is a real gem. A beautiful title that remains in the head and that really takes guts. A song where Lara doesn’t do too much but she does not rest on her laurels (cf. nuance and soaring on the musical bridge). She also retains “Le desamour’, a potential single that seems clearly current and inspired. An arrangement not dated, not boring. ‘S’il ne reste qu’un ami’ puts the voice of Lara Fabian forward, with the accompaniment of piano and violins. Not bad, but not transcendent, the track is simply beautiful. We avoid talking about ‘Envie d’en rire’ that sounds really old France and of ‘Elle danse’ which is clearly below the level of the album, which is nevertheless above the previous one, ‘Le Secret’.
‘Le coeur qui tremble’ is a beautiful track that takes us into a melancholy. The strength of the title? Everyone can interpret it in their own way. A gentle trail, but not flat, but oh how moving. ‘Ton désir’ is more punchy and playful or perfect to be a single in springtime. It is modern without being confusing to the fans of Lara Fabian. A tasty mixture of different sounds. It is with a nuanced voice the singer offers us ‘L’illusionist’. A voice playful enough for an almost moving title. The ideal scene to listen to it? At the window, watching the rain, or in front of Christmas lighting and hot chocolate. ‘Relève-toi’ is a true listening pleasure. An immediate favorite for the title that is magnificent and full of hope. A real message carried by a soft voice. A hymn to personal combat. Special mention for the refrain that oscillates between sweetness and severity and the instrumental part around the third minute. Finally, the soft title ‘L’oubli’ that closes this opus particularly successful. A serious melody, a serious voice, a touching song ... The ingredients are there to make a good and beautiful title. Perhaps not a single and a nice track to stay on a high note.
Album available Friday, November 6
Hits: Le désamour, Ton désir, Relève-toi!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“You pays your money and you takes your choice” as the saying goes (though he probably didn’t pay for this album)…Some overlap with the previous review, and some differences. But clearly the album is compelling enough for the reviewer to comment on all the individual songs…something that did not usually happen for ‘Le Secret’ (granted there were more of them…).
3) And then, translated from Starsblog.fr (http://starsblog.fr/2015/11/lara-fabian-ma-vie-dans-la-tienne-un-album-retour-aux-sources/#.VkErdK6rTYL):
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: Ma vie dans la tienne, a return to basics album
Cédric Benaddache
Lara Fabian proposes his new album, Ma vie dans la tienne". Check it out.
Lara Fabian proposes her new album, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’. Two singles were released: the lovely romantic ballad of the same name as the album, and ‘Quand je ne chante pas’, a title more rhythmic on the way of life of the woman. However, these two songs are not really the best choice to present this disc full of much more better titles calibrated to attract audiences. Composed and written with the help of David Gategno and Elodie Hesme, this album is a true homecoming for the singer.
Indeed, in the course of listening to it, one is plunged directly into the pure variety to which we were accustomed at her beginnings in music. Lara Fabian also refound her powerful voice and is not afraid to use it wisely especially in L’Oubli’, beautiful ballad with soaring vocal on the chorus. In its composition, ‘Le désamour’, reminds at certain times of, “J’y crois encore”(2001), with its more pop sounds. The artist also offers smoother and touching titles: “S’il ne reste qu’un ami”, on the importance of friendship, “Le coeur qui tremble” on the fears of a parent when a child begins to make her own decisions, and’Lillusioniste” that she addresses to her husband.
Lara Fabian also brings other influences on a few tracks of which “Envie d’en rire”, which is directed slightly towards the gipsy / Latin sounds. “Ton Désir” plunges us into a world of folk / acoustic while on “Elle danse” one can hear a more modern style. Finally with “Relève-toi”, the singer takes us on a powerful melody, energetic and far more present voice.
“Ma vie dans la tienne” is a great success in the field of French variety. A disc that, one desires it, will permit her to regain a much wider audience. It remains for her to choose the right singles to have a nice radio exposition. One could well build on “Le désamour” and “L’oubli” that are totally close to her beautiful oldest songs.
Her public now expects her back on stage for some shows in France. It must be patient because she will hit the road in March 2016 and will be at the Paris Convention Centre June 3rd, 2016!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian | "Ma vie dans las tienne"
Pure classicism. 45 years sounds the day of reckoning. Surrounded by David Gategno and Elodie Hesme, Lara Fabian returns with a very classical disc, in line with her first compositions. After having chained together complex projects, like the double album "Le Secret", the artist then put on a greater sobriety presenting this autumn a series of 11 melodious songs, giving a beautiful part to a voice always very well managed, but unfortunately not quite captivating. Few risk-takings, except perhaps "Envie de rire", with the accordion behind us in the field of bossa nova. In general, the most rhythmic titles are less successful, like the single "Quand je ne chante pas". a little outdated, or "Ton desir" romantic, certainly, but the text seems too naive once it is compared with those of the other tracks. For they are indeed the words that are the highlighted here. Lara Fabian celebrates her best friend ("Ma vie dans la tienne") and her husband ("L’illusioniste"), when she doesn’t confide about the errors that allowed her to move forward. A mature look that is striking when she sings "S'il ne restait qu'un ami", an emotional ballad, as is ‘L’oublie', evocation of regret. "Ma vie dans la tienne" so subtly reveals the joys, injuries and expectations of a woman and artist. Pity the dressing is not always up to par. JH
It resembles the albums ‘Nue’ and ‘Carpe Diem’
To listen: "S'il ne restait qu'un ami" and "L'oubli" are touching ballads, and "Elle danse".
To zap: "Envie d'en rire" and "Quand je ne chante pas", risk-taking which quite simply does not stick.
--------------------------------------------------------
Early reviews don’t tell the whole story, but they set the tone in the mind of later reviewers and TV hosts – and once something is thought of as a hit, it has a way of building on its own momentum. [The reverse has been true with poor reviews for Lara in the last decade]. Overall, these reviews are highly positive – even the last one found something to like.
[This last review pointed out the importance of the lyrics in this album; I’ll return to that subject next week when I post my review].
5) Another perspective on all this can be inferred from the article at www.potins.net/celebrites/lara-fabian-voit-vie-differemment-accident-155395.html. Here’s the translation:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian sees life differently since her accident
Lara Fabian is finally back on center stage, and that's wonderful news for all those who were looking forward to refind the golden voice of the diva. It must be said that since her auditory accident, she had a hard time of it...
Some time ago, Lara Fabian was the victim of an auditory accident. She had received two auditory shocks a few weeks apart, following an error by sound equipment teams during rehearsals. When the singer received 1,000 hertz in the ears, she collapsed and even lost consciousness. Then she completely lost her hearing. Hell for a star like her who lives for music ...
The artist had to be patient and put her career on hold for nearly a year. After an atrocious old memory Lara Fabian explains that her life has totally changed. Up on stage was a difficult test to live. She compares her return on stage to a return of a dancer after a broken ankle.
Lara Fabian had to follow a number of very stringent therapies to restore hearing, but this accident has nevertheless changed her life as a woman and artist. Indeed, she says she does not hear quite the same, and has still lost a part of her hearing. Happily, the consequences are very thin, and she is back to her best level with her new album!
Lara Fabian is very grateful towards her daughter and husband who supported her throughout this ordeal, and who especially helped her heal. According to the singer, without them she would not be there today. And today it is where? Well it's everywhere! We hear her absolutely everywhere with her new title ‘Quand je ne chante pas’ which is a big hit!
All this is no more than a very bad memory for Lara Fabian who has learned some lessons, and who claims to see life not quite the same. Already, she does not hear like she used to, she sees the music inside, and it's beautiful. That said, as an audience, it was very difficult to see the difference! Her voice is on appointment, more powerful than ever, and she looks forward to the release of her album.
Congratulations to her. She comes out of this battle with honor, and she really deserves to do brilliantly with her album!
-------------------------------------------------------------
Not only does the new album meet people’s expectations, but now they are predisposed to see Lara in a favorable light, given that she has achieved ‘victim’ and ‘survivor’ status. Whereas once she was someone to attack, now she is someone to pity, and then also admire. Yes, a ‘blessing in disguise’…
A similar article, making basically the same points is on-line in Montreal as well, so this story will carry over internationally (http://anotao.com/nouvelles/link/ca/www.journaldemontreal.com/2015/11/06/lara-fabian-entend-la-musique-dune-facon-tres-differente). And Kevin Sweet, the Arts Reporter for CBC/Radio-Canada had the following ‘tweet’:
"The album # # MaVieDansLaTienne of Lara Fabian is by far her best album since “Nue”. In voice. Smooth. # Rc_arts "
6) Now for some interviews. Lara was in ‘Telestar’ (this is the complete article that ‘Paris Match’ referred to, as discussed in last week’s Update) (https://www.facebook.com/larafabianweb/photos/a.247913198557556.83420.246805652001644/1177032445645622/?type=3&theater)
Here’s the translation:
--------------------------------------------
First of all, how are you? Are you entirely recuperated after your two auditory shocks?
LF: Losing hearing for a singer, it is like losing her legs for a dancer! It was a real test! Going through the treatments, I convinced myself that it could not happen in an irreversible manner. Today I am very well, I have almost completely recuperated.
‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ will it be the album of rebirth?
LF: It is absolutely that. It is in silence that it is born. Without this test, it perhaps would never have existed.
You deliver a very intimate work…
LF: It is full of declarations of love, but there are many interpretations possible. I wrote the single ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ for my best friend, Nathalie. But it is not important who can appropriate it. A girlfriend told me she wanted to offer it to her mother, for she is her grand love!
In ‘Le Coeur qui tremble’ you evoke also your anguish as a mother…
LF: My fear, it is of knowing whether I do what is necessary for Lou to become the magnificent adult that she could be. She does not care about the media coverage, and that, it is magnificent.
L’illusioniste’ is dedicated to your husband, the magician Gabriel Di Giorgio, who you qualify as an ‘angle fallen from the sky’…
LF: He is the love of my life. His great trick of magic, it is that he loves without fixings or artifices. He and my daughter are my great strength.
The film ‘Un soir autour du monde’, concert captured in Prague June 5th, will be shown in the movies November 6, the day of the release of your album. A means of boosting your sales?
LF: I wanted to offer this gift to my fans, for I stopped the stage in a very abrupt manner two years ago. It is the father of Lou (the director Gerard Pullicino) who captured this concert. I wanted to show how the music connects. Wherever I go, ‘Je taime’, ‘Immortelle’ or ‘Je suis malade’ leads to the same emotion!
What are you goals to come?
LF: To be for my daughter a vital force, to put on a musical comedy for which I’ve already written the libretto, and to open my academy to transmit what I know how to do. And to age with grace!

7) Lara was in Metro news (via larafabianweb)
(http://www.metronews.fr/culture/bonne-nouvelle-lara-fabian-n-est-plus-sourde/mokb!CbhYbcfgXD1Fo/), translated below:
-------------------------------------------------------
Good news, Lara Fabian is no longer deaf
HAPPY – Attack of sudden deafness last year, Lara Fabian has now recovered almost all of her hearing. The opportunity for the artist to get back to the song and to release a new album on the 6th November.
She comes back from far away. Lara Fabian was, last year, attacked by sudden deafness. A traumatic episode for the artist, who said at the microphone of Bel RTL: "Losing the hearing, it's scary, whoever it may be. Whatever our profession but, in my case, the sound is what leads to the voice."
The singer of "Je t’aime" adds, "I was deaf for a few weeks I was attacked with sudden deafness with inner ear problem, I had to interrupt the tour, interrupting my professional activities and simply accept that in this silence, there was perhaps plenty of answers. And that's what happened." Lara Fabian has therefore been face to face with a terrible ordeal that had stopped her career.
''I cried my race"
Yet she is better. "I was subjected to a massive treatment, put under perfusion [an IV drip] in a hyperbaric chamber. I had to relearn everything, the star recently told Le Parisien. It gradually returned, thanks to my singing teacher. I cried my race."
"Losing audition for a singer is like losing her legs to a dancer! It was a real test. Over the course of treatments, I convinced myself that it could not happen to me irreversibly. Today I'm fine, I recovered almost everything," confessed to Télé Star the healed singer.
Strong from this healing, Lara Fabian returns with a new album, Ma vie dans la tienne, available from November 6. In this album, she talks about her regained happiness: "There are experiences that tell you that you clearly have a little less time than you think", she told RTL. "At this moment there is a choice that is oriented towards happiness."

Lara Fabian, The album of the serenity
The singer confides in us, without taboo.
How do you feel at 45 years old, the day before the release of ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, your 12th album?
LF: Well, calm and serene. In a fit of joy after a year and a half of work.
When you don’t sing, you do what?
LF: Plenty of things! I occupy myself with my daughter Lou who’s going on 8 years old. And I cook…I don’t manage badly, says my husband Gabriel.
He is the ‘Illusionist’ of the album…
LF: Yes, he is a magician and to live with him is magical! But he doesn’t reveal to me any secrets of his tricks that he executes before me.
“It is the love that supports me” you sing. One cannot imagine you unbearable…
LF: Ah, yes, I can be a true nuisance. It happens that I can freak out, ‘perdre la carte’ as they say in Quebec.
Forgotten, your hearing problems?
LF: Yes, it is an old bad memory. I have seen that as a gift very poorly wrapped, but a gift nevertheless. All hasn’t returned, but my body perceives new resonances. I have won a more intimate relation with the music.
What mama are you for Lou?
LF: A mama with “le coeur qui tremble”. It is for her that I have written this song. We love very much like we worry.

Lara Fabian, A Woman Like Others
In her latest album "Ma vie dans la tienne", in stores today, the singer shows us the woman behind the star. We had the opportunity to interview her at home, in privacy!
The new album of Lara Fabian, "Ma vie dans la tienne", leaves today. An album in which she was keen to have discovered the real woman who hides behind the celebrity. For this occasion, Ciné-Télé Revue had the chance to meet with her, with her husband, Gabriel di Giorgio and with little Lou.
We offer a small preview of the interview in her family cocoon.
You can really be a woman like the others when you are a star?
Lara Fabian: "For the purposes of the wife or the mother, yes, totally. I feel at this level quite normal. It also happens that I lose track that I'm someone famous. When I go to the supermarket and someone looks at me, I sometimes wonder why. (Laughter.) "
How do you protect your 8 year old daughter? There is never any jealousy from her classmates?
Lara Fabian: "It's a school where there are 74 nationalities. Almost nobody knows who I am. She bears the name of her father, her name is Lou Pullicino. She is not perceived as the 'daughter'. "
Interview by Frédéric Will.
To discover the full interview, visit your Ciné-Télé Revue, this week in bookstores.

We cooked ... Lara Fabian
A few days before the release of her new album "Ma vie dans la tienne," Lara Fabian went to Marmiton see us! If we would have loved to sing with her, we have mainly benefited chatting cuisine, good recipes and her favorite addresses…
Do you cook sometimes? Do you like this?
LF: I love to cook ! As soon as I have the opportunity to do it, I'll start. Whether with my husband, my daughter, all three or even alone to prepare the evening meal. I also like to receive my friends, I cook a lot for them.
You have Sicilian origins, Flemish and you are Canadian at "heart". These three nationalities are they experienced in your kitchen?
LF: Throughout my travels and my life moments sometimes in Canada, Sicily or Belgium, I am often inspired by local ingredients and local ways of doing things. In Canada, I often had a tendency to cook stews, it's called "comfort food". In Sicily, I rely on the purity and lightness of the ingredient. In Belgium, we are closer to French gastronomy but simplified.
You will start a big tour in 2016, is it not too hard to keep a balanced diet when you are on the road?
LF: From this point of view I'm quite demanding, so I always manage to eat simply and very balanced. I'll always find a place to eat green vegetables and a bowl of brown rice, it is enough for me. I'm terribly greedy but when I work, I eat like a sport! I eat brown rice, vegetables and proteins but only after the performance to pass a good night and to not be too hungry.
If you are invited to dinner, what does one prepare to please you for sure?
LF: Something that you like and that appeals to your fancy! I really like everything, there is nothing I hate in cuisine. If I had to choose a dish I did not appreciate, I would say a cassoulet, tasted it a few times. It was perhaps not homemade because normally (especially in winter) it is a dish that I can appreciate. Otherwise, the two cuisines that I like the most are Japanese cuisine and Italian cuisine.
And conversely, if you invite us, what could one eat at your home? Do you have a "signature" dish?
LF: If I receive you for the first time, I will try to do something that fits in the transmission of the traditions of my family: risotto, osso bucco in my way ...
And if I receive a vegetarian or person who does not like meat, I'd rather put out a vegetable-based risotto. It's always the simple things, I really emphasizes the freshness of the ingredients and cooking times.
Has there been a meeting in cuisine that has marked you?
LF: Pierre Gagnaire. I was very impressed by what he brings out, that which he invented. His cuisine is simply outstanding! There is also an Italian chef for whom I have great admiration and that I will soon meet Massimo Bottura. I am very impatient to meet the man who saved the production of Parmesan damaged in the earthquake of 2012 in northern Italy. By passing one of his leading recipees to leaders around the world - the cacio e riso (a simple basic risotto parmesan) - it allowed them to sell all the Parmesan wheels damaged by the quake. His restaurant - Osteria Francescana in Modena's - is also the third best restaurant in the world right now!
What is the most improbable food that you have eaten?
LF: Bull testicles! I eat a lot of things ... sweetbreads, liver, kidneys, but I must admit that bulls testicles were a first. I also ate from the blue oyster in Thailand. I think I have never seen such a large oyster in my life! One cuts a strip with a knife and the complements with lime, coriander, very hot spices. It's extraordinary, I have rarely eaten an oyster as good in my life.
What are your favorite addresses? In France or elsewhere?
Momoka in Paris This restaurant is run by Masayo, a Japanese head of high flight! She does things with great simplicity and great humility but also very careful things like small sculptures with a base of herbs or fish. She combines the food sea/ mountain with incredible harmony and I have rarely eaten such good desserts in a Japanese restaurant.
Il gusto sardo in Paris: Nicoletta, the chef, makes you a traditional carbonara [Italian pasta dish] in the Sardinian way with small peas simply delicious.
Café des Spores in Saint-Gilles in Belgium: what they can do with mushrooms is incredible, it's delicious!
Wittamer in Brussels: in my opinion the best pastry in town!
The chip shop Chapel in Brussels: if you have 5 euros in your pocket, you gotta go. The food is very good fries.
Zio in Waterloo: I have eaten the best tomato pappardelle [broad, flat pasta noodles] cream, meat. When we want a good plate of comforting pasta, it is truly top. In addition the owners are really charming, if you have the opportunity to pass by it, I really recommend it.

Highlights of this show include the segment on the little pictures of popular stars one can put on one’s nails , and Lara’s interaction with a chief and sampling a salad.
In the serious part of the interview, you may remember that when Helene Segara was on the show a couple of weeks ago, she said she didn’t think Lara liked her or would want to sing with her. Lara got her chance to respond. In fact, ‘purepeople’ got into this, with its own article (http://www.purepeople.com/article/lara-fabian-interpellee-par-helene-segara-elle-repond_a167771/1), translated below:
-------------------------------------------------------
While she is currently promoting her new album entitled ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, Lara Fabian responded to Helene Segara. "But who does not like Helene Segara? There are too many people who love her, she sings it itself. I was told that. You can be sure that my fans go around .. . I wondered why this question. Why someone asked her this question", Lara replied. And added: "I find it amazing. I sing with her when she wants.."
From there hopefully Lara Fabian signed the now famous special VIP bathroom notebook of Helene Segara, it is only one step. [Presumably this is what her male ‘friends’ have signed!].
The singer, who recently made the rounds of movie theaters to present her film ‘Un soir autour du monde”, a capture of her last world tour, is back in the limelight with ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, two years after ‘Le Secret’ disk and especially her hearing loss that is only a bad memory.

As a side note (associated with a question raised, and the one Lara says she is asked most often): Lara continues to say she is ‘almost healed’. On listening to the album, some of the cuts have drums and electric guitar; will Lara really be able to have a tour that duplicates the album as closely as possible? Her last tour was acoustic, and relatively safe…one wonders if this is going through her mind.

My secret is to surround myself with healthy people”
In this album, Lara Fabian explores the theme of friendship through ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, the title track of the album, and speaks of her best friend Nathalie. Sh takes us one time more into her romantic universe through rhythmic titles such as ‘Quand je ne chante pas” or “Elle danse”.
The singer visited us at the locale of aufeminin the time of its debut, a convivial and warm early afternoon to talk to us about the album, its songs, its inspiration or still her way of working. Lara Fabian also reveals her secret to always be on top after 25-year career. And as a bonus, she lets on about a title on which she likes to move.

**BelRTL-Club Music they had a 52 minute show with Lara, including an interview and the playing of 8 songs (6 new plus ‘Humana’ live from 2002 and I Will Love Again, the studio version). It can be found on the Mademoiselle Zhivago FB site.
A general word about all these interviews: The discussions about the album, her health and family were familiar from Lara’s previous interviews. On her part, she was in a continually good mood, entering into the proceedings whatever they were. In the past, this often meant she was playing the role of a victim; but now she wasn’t put in that position. Continuing the theme discussed earlier, all the hosts and guests were very happy that Lara has healed, and treated her very specially, as if they realized the fragility of human beings. So she was now an honored guest, whom people were very glad to see. Another consequence of her ‘blessing in disguise’.
After all this…how is the album doing? It’s really too early to know, but it was 65th on iTunes France on Wednesday (before the official release), entered directly at #16, and by Saturday it had risen to #12. Currently it is #4 in Luxembourg, #7 in Belgium, #12 in France, #24 in Switzerland, #37 in Mauritius and #56 in Belarus. It is 61st worldwide, and 40th in Europe. This is after 5 days.
Other notes on the album: the two Krutoi songs, ‘C’est ma terre’ and ‘Je vais revoir l’hiver’ are actually included on the CD that comes with the ‘deluxe’ package, not on the DVD. David Gategno and Lara are listed as writing the lyrics, with Krutoi the music. Those who have commented on those two songs (not the critics, who don’t get to hear them) have had a wide disparity of opinion – some thinking it was ‘left over’ Mademoiselle Zhivago, others finding them tuneful and intriguing. On the Russian site, there is general agreement about their value (not terribly surprisingly).
For those who are interested in the English lyrics to all of these, they are provided in a separate thread.
Of course, in addition to the album release, there was also the showing of Lara’s Concert in Prague at many movie theaters in France and Belgium. When Lara’s team asked how people liked it, there were close to 900 responses. Those who actually replied to the question seemed to like it very much…It would be nice to know how well-filled those theaters were.
When those same people asked on Lara's site whether it would be released commercially on a DVD, the response was that it was not foreseen at this time. However – what commercial sense does that make? People ‘around the world’ [or at least in North America, Canada, eastern Europe, Turkey, Israel, etc.) who would like their own visual memory of her ‘best of ‘ concert would certainly be open to purchasing it, let alone (at least) Lara’s fans in the Francophile countries. Not too many artists spend the money to film a concert just so they can show it once .
In other news – yes, there was other news - in a surprising development, which is either Warner’s doing, or Lara deciding life is too short to hold grudges, she is apparently returning to Les Enfoires. Here’s the relevant portion of the report (https://lespotinsdunet.wordpress.com/2015/11/03/les-enfoires-2016-des-departs-des-retours-et-des-nouveaux/):
----------------------------------------------------------------
THE ENFOIRÉS 2016: DEPARTURE, RETURNS AND NEW.
The troupe Enfoirés pack their bags to PARIS from 20 to 25 January, 2016 for 7 concerts.
Some changes, Laam is leaving the company this year. She announced on Twitter she wants to make room for the young. Sad news for her fans as it is virtually her only TV appearance of the year. Not sure that she misses the big World (TV)…
Many returns, Nolwenn Leroy who was absent last year due to tour preparation. The return of Garou, absent for a few years. Alizee will also be back this year and the singer Lara Fabian has not participated since 2005. The most anticipated return is undoubtedly that of Muriel Robin who is set to make her return in 2016 after nine years absence.
The two new recruits are Vincent Niclo and Kendji Girac.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Or maybe the personnel has changed sufficiently that the conflict Lara had with them is now moot. Or that she needs the publicity… This is also still to be confirmed by Lara’s team.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian: Return to the effective variety of her debuts

Perhaps we will have access to the rest of this subsequently.
10) And finally - something different (http://www.marmiton.org/restos/stars-et-cuisine_on-a-cuisine-lara-fabian_1.aspx), translated below:
-------------------------------------------------------------
We cooked ...
