The new album release is still some 5 ½ weeks away, but Lara’s team is ‘priming the pump’ for it in several ways. First, in an imaginative approach, Lara was shown writing the names of each of the albums’ songs on three successive days. So far we have seen:
“Ma vie dans la tienne”
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/989043607803803/
"L'illusionniste"
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/989444297763734/
“Ton desir”
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/videos/989896457718518/
Initial lyrics for each of the songs were also shown being written. Fortunately, the song names were given separately, because the writing in the videos is not really legible. Of equal or greater interest, accompanying the videos are instrumental aspects of each of the songs.
That seemed to be the plan for all the songs, but for the last few days, no new little videos/songs have been added (perhaps one will be later today). Instead, or in addition, on Lara’s Twitter page (
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10207650994054518&set=p.10207650994054518&type=3&theater
It does appear, as several people have concluded, that ‘Non coupable’, listed in Le Parisien above, is not among the 11 shown on the Twitter page. Of course, things could have changed, and there are various past examples of songs being dumped (or added) to her CDs at the last minute. Also, there is supposed to be an additional DVD, which presumably has some ‘unreleased’ songs written by Krutoi – perhaps if it’s not on the main album, it would be there, although why it would not be packaged with the other new songs written at the same time is not obvious. Then again it may be a digital (e.g., iTunes) bonus song [remember ‘Babacar’, a bonus not on the TLFM album], or a song available through the ‘app’ that is supposed to transform the album’s cover into a source for videos, etc. [an ‘app’ that is still not available]. The question has been posed to Lara’s team, and we’ll see whether any answer is forthcoming.
What have been released in legible form are the (probably initial) confirmed dates for next spring’s tour. The list is provided below, along with the seating capacity in the theatres.
March 16: Roubaix (northern France) [Colisee: 1700]
March 18: Brussels [Bozar: 2200]
March 19: Liege [Forum: 2000]
March 20: Antwerp [Stadsschouwburg: 2000]
March 22: Marseille [Le Silo: 2050]
March 24: Nantes [Cité Internationale des Congrès: 2000]
June 1: Geneva [Théâtre du Léman: 1350]
June 3: Paris [Palais des congress: 3723]
June 4: Lyon [L’amphitheatre: 3220]
Given that the first dates are in March, and the last are in June, one might reasonable expect they might be the beginning and the end dates of the ‘francophile’ portion of the tour (although note that Antwerp, in the Flemish portion of Belgium is included – has that ever happened before? – as well as Geneva, Switzerland). The fact that the first six dates are within an 8 day time period suggests Lara has confidence in her health (i.e., hearing), though we don’t know how ‘loud’ the tour’s band is going to be. The seating numbers given (maximum capacity, which can sometimes be reduced for smaller audiences) indicate the size of the audiences Lara feels comfortable (or hopeful) expecting; they would seem to be doable. Lara’s team on the official site is emphasizing that tickets for a number of the shows have now become available:
Nantes: tinyurl.com/nanteslara
Roubaix: tinyurl.com/lararoubaix
Marseille: tinyurl.com/laramarseille
Lyon: tinyurl.com/lyonlara
Liège: tinyurl.com/liegelara
Paris: tinyurl.com/laracongres
with more to be added soon.
The ‘larafabinweb’ site has already put in place a ‘playlist’ youtube site, in which they hope to accumulate various videos from the tour (and they started by putting up one showing the tour sites so far). The otherwise empty playlist can be found at www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHj9kbngo4o2ruYQBquRFg8FMVqnHqorR ; hopefully it will get very full!
In another item concerning the new album: the promised second single from the album, the song ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ will be released on October 5th. One expects a video to accompany it, but that is an assumption.
And, with respect to the Prague Concert movie to be shown in theatres coinciding with the album’s release, Lara has added another theatre in Paris (Le Grand Rex de Paris) for the October 30th preview. As her ‘team’ explained, there will thus be two previews in that city the same night, offset in time so she can be present at both.
After the album’s debut, of course, will come the real promotion, and Lara has started to line up appearances. Various sites have noted that she will appear on “Alcaline, l'instant” on France 2, whose blurb says she will be there explicitly to promote the album (http://www.france2.fr/emissions/alcaline/diffusions/11-11-2015_418757). And on November 14th, she will be at the FNAC in Brussels for the same purpose (https://www.fnacagenda.be/fr/evenements/icalrepeat.detail/2015/11/14/11/-/lara-fabian). We should obviously expect news of many more appearances in the coming weeks.
Lara continued to provide some snapshots of her daily life. For example, she posted a picture of herself with her current vocal coach, Patricia Samuel, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/988479701193527/?type=3&theater
She also posted a very cute picture of herself wearing a black hat, at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/987922551249242/?type=3&theater
with the caption, “You like the hat I stole from my husband ? (from the changing room of the studio )”. [Perhaps that is the hat that he, as a magician, pulls rabbits out of – hopefully not, for the sake of her hair…]
and followed that with one of the best photos that we have seen of herself and Gabriel (now wearing the hat), at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/p.987929551248542/987929551248542/?type=3&theater
with the caption, “He has recovered it.”
The studio she was referring to was probably that associated with the show “Les Annees Bonheur” with Patrick Sebastien, whose registration she recorded this past week. She posted a photo of herself at the soundcheck,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.622966977744803.1073741829.201065806601591/987986147909549/?type=3&theater
It appears as if it will air on October 10th, on France 2.
Also, if past reports were correct, another show she was expected to tape last week was ‘L’Academie des 9’.
In other news, Lara has lent her support to ‘unpetitpas’ (http://www.unpetitpas.ca/index.php/nouvelles/fondation-prader-willi-ca), a Canadian foundation that fosters research on Prader-Willi syndrome. She provided a photo of herself, at:
www.facebook.com/unpetitpas.fr/photos/a.1491169534471452.1073741831.1435152983406441/1640619136193157/?type=3&theater
According to the NIH, this syndrome is a complex genetic condition that affects many parts of the body, leading to obesity, diabetes, intellectual impairment, behavioral problems and infertility, among other issues. It occurs in about 1 in 20,000 people worldwide (hence there would appear to be up to a few hundred thousand sufferers). Lara is encouraging people to provide their support.
In what must be classified as creative but wild idea, the MZ FB site reported that Manu Pitois, Lara’s long term fellow musician (who produced and arranged ‘Le Secret’), proposed a ‘kickstarter’ campaign for fans to fund an album for her in English (e.g., www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10206755914247893&set=pcb.1063619223682189&type=3&theater). He used for justification that the ‘Le Secret’ tour had been cut short, and while Lara was now on to other projects, some aspects of it might be resurrected in a new album. He noted Lara was not ‘au courant’ on the project, but eventually it would be presented to her and her team as a gift. He included some other novel suggestions, such as that contributing fans would be involved in one of the songs, and (despite it being an English album) it would include the version of ‘Humana’ that was presented on ‘Le Secret’ tour, one that has never been recorded on an album.
However…this appeal did not last long. Here is his message:
--------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone, I have a very bad news.
Following a discussion with the producers of Lara who contacted me about this initiative of crowdfunding, I have to abandon this objective, very reluctantly in some respects, for legal reasons.
In effect, she is bound by certain contracts of exclusivity that prevent any initiative of this type, which I didn't know.
I thought very honestly that this idea could make her way and not breach any rules in force, I was wrong.
Thus I give you my apologies for having made you hope for the realization of such a project, I was personally very excited by this possibility, and thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support, it would have been great, but we can't continue.... We would be outside the law.
A big thanks to all for your legendary enthusiasm! It is you who make a difference!
Another time.... Xxxxx
Manu.
--------------------------------------------------
People suggested that having been in the music business as long as he has been, he should have known better. Probably so…at least he should have asked her first...but the idea that Lara has underserved her English audience (and herself) is not outlandish, and since he knows her well, he probably has learned that funding to produce another English CD has been an issue. And maybe he thought that Warner Music France would have no objections or jurisdiction. In the past, even while releasing ‘francophile’ albums, Lara produced an album with Krutoi that didn’t run afoul of laws (or at least Russian laws), emphasizing the distinction she had maintained throughout her whole career between French language albums and all others (e.g., Universal AND Sony for some six years). Even the two recent ‘best of’ albums (‘Essential’ and ‘Selection’) were both ‘9 Productions’, Warner’s only involvement being as distributor of the former.
Lara has said that she does have an English (or ‘International’) album in the works, and if so, this would have been competition. If it ever really happens it will be interesting to see whether Warner is involved in that one as well, uniting for the first time the two sides of her career.
In another ‘path not taken’, ‘Yann Perrot’ on the LFIAG site posted photos from the booklet for the first CARREFOUR edition of TLFM, which reportedly corresponded to the unreleased TLFM1. All of it can be seen at,
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153577487077856&set=pcb.458553037664897&type=3&theater (click on the arrow to see each of the pages).
The very classy pictures of Lara, some fans said, were used instead for EWIM (though that wasn’t true for the version I received). A big difference with the official TLFM booklet is that instead of Lara’s ‘letters’ to each of the singers, in this one the words of their songs were printed. The opinion here is that the letters made a bigger impact.
Interesting photo(s) of the week: a surprisingly effective caricature by Will Delmaire, shown on the LFIAG site,
www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=751475421630885&set=gm.458873180966216&type=3&theater
and from ‘Operation Fan Club Lara Fabian’, the antidote to the above picture,

Finally, different once again, from ‘Lara Fabian Mexico’

Again, a little more than five weeks to go before the new album appears, and from what has happened so far, we can expect increasing activity on the part of all concerned aimed at raising interest in it. Let’s hope they’re successful!

What have been released in legible form are the (probably initial) confirmed dates for next spring’s tour. The list is provided below, along with the seating capacity in the theatres.
March 16: Roubaix (northern France) [Colisee: 1700]

with more to be added soon.
