The news this past week had a future tinge to it – things that will be happening, but are not here yet. Of most prominence is the upcoming appearance of the second single from Lara’s new album. Her ‘team’ posted the wry comment, “Are you ready for a second extract from the album ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’?” It was obviously a rhetorical question, yet, at the time of this writing, close to 700 fans had responded in the affirmative, with only a few taking the opportunity to reply with equal humor.
As to which song it will be…several sites are saying it was originally going to be ‘Non coupable’ but it was finally decided that it would be the song to her best friend Nathalie, which shares the name with the album, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, as can be seen in the following fan-produced picture:
vk.com/lf_cp?z=photo-121236_385790868%2Falbum-121236_00%2Frev
We’ll find out whether that’s correct. One can also assume that there will be a video associated with it…and if it is that song, will Nathalie appear in it? Presumably Lara wants it to be personal, but also general enough that it is meaningful for everyone, so she can’t be too specific.
Of course there is going to be an accompanying tour, and in response to questions concerning that, Lara’s team wrote, “For all the questions like: ‘When (such city).. ‘: the dates and info of the 2016 tour will be announced shortly.” We know it will be in France, Belgium and Switzerland, and eventually Quebec, starting in March 2016, and probably extending through June. Basically what we don’t know is when it will actually be announced, and whether it will include the big halls that were utilized for ‘Le Secret’. One supposes that depends on how optimistic Lara and Warner are…
Lara included her own message about this, with the statement, “the memory of a moment of happiness on stage.. I look forward to seeing you again at one of my upcoming concerts, soon in France, Belgium, Quebec and elsewhere.” This was accompanied by what may be one of the most beautiful photos of her on stage, available at
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/983047578403406/?type=1&theater
As for that “and elsewhere”: Lara or her team has recently responded to comments from places like Finland, the Czech Republic, Romania and Russia indicating she will be there ‘shortly’ or ‘hasn’t forgotten them’. Will that be by presenting the new album, or with her ‘best of’ tour, or some combination of the two? Lara generally doesn’t provide her new songs in a hybrid concert, not until her album has been out for many months. The guess here is that the spring tour will concentrate on her French fans, and these non-Francophile countries will have to wait until the summer or later; and even that doesn’t guarantee the new album will be their focus. It also doesn’t guarantee the physical CD will actually be released in any of those countries, digital release via iTunes being perhaps more likely. In an article from Turkey (see below), Lara briefly mentions preparations for a new international album, so maybe that could be involved as well. [Remember, when this new French album was first discussed, Lara indicated there was an English one being developed in parallel; maybe it is this she is referring to].
The ‘Lara Fabian web’ site provided a link to a company called ‘Decibels Productions' that includes Lara as one of their artists (http://decibelsprod.com/pro/dp-pro-bg-lara-fabian/). Here’s what they say about themselves:
------------------------------------------------------
Production of musical concerts and shows of Warner Music France (former production company of Jean-Claude Camus bought in 2008, has since become Decibels Productions).
Decibels Productions is a production company of concerts and musical performances. Attached to the major artists of the French musical landscape, Decibels Productions aims to produce all the music for all audiences.
Our artists: Amel Bent, Axelle Laffont, Christophe Mae, Dany Brillant, David Carreira, Tony Carreira, Johnny Hallyday, Florent Mothe, Navii, Niska, Pony Pony Run Run, Katia & Marielle Labèque "Love Stories", Karim Ouellet, Perez, Lara Fabian
------------------------------------------------------
It would therefore seem that they will be in charge of Lara’s tour, that might then give it a professionalism some found lacking at times in her recent tours (when she had to handle all the elements herself). We’ll see what that ends up being like, in practice.
Another upcoming event is Lara’s concert next month in Turkey, for which there was additional news. As expected, another show was added, with the comment on Lara’s site of:
--------------------------------------------------------
“The concert of October 15th in Istanbul is sold out! Lara Fabian: comes to Istanbul, such as opening the first page of a new book
Saturday September 19, 2015, 06:21:49 Update: 10:13:22
20 million album selling Belgian singer Lara Fabian is coming. Listen to her, but there is a lot to say to tell you that the best of it is from her own mouth. We talked with Fabian ahead of her concert in Istanbul
“Je t'aime" Lara Fabian, in the mind, first words. Elegant, heartfelt, emotional and successful artist. Just check with the entire audience who sat in the middle of the concert and cried, during a concert of emotional songs. This connects her to the Mediterranean sensuality. 45 years old, she is also getting better and better. Each tour Fabian must visit Turkey, who will be on stage in the Zorlu Performing Arts Center on October 15,16. Last year was a duet with Mustafa Ceceli. It was like new, this will be like new as well ... but now she will be on stage with a "surprise", people keep saying. Rumors name a Fabian duet, which will be announced. We have not heard the answer to this question yet, but Lara Fabian answered all other questions with sincerity.
HT: You will appear on stage again in Istanbul, what do you feel?
Lara: I gave concerts in many countries but some cities leave a different effect on you. Istanbul, in the city ... one of a young girl, where I gave the first concert in the country of Turkey. Now I feel a feeling like you've taken another step in my life as I come to Turkey. Like I opened the first page of a new book being written ...
HT: You did a duet with Mustafa Ceceli last year. Maybe you have a surprise guest this year?
Lara: I love a lot of duets. Music, sharing the stage with another artist, creating a different energy. Last year, with Mustafa, "Make Me Yours Tonight". We sang the part, we enjoyed it a lot. That the Turkish Sezen Aksu wrote the lyrics in a different beauty. I would like to thank him here again. I have a surprise duet, yes. A surprise when you least expect. I like to surprise!
HT: How do you know when it's time to do another album?
Lara: This process does not fit a calendar. An artist does not say, by their song, rhyme or reason "Now it's time to write the song". Inspiration comes when you feel that you are writing. When one album emerges. But it should take into account the expectations of the audience. One is expected to make an album a year. If you exceed this time too much, it isn’t "fashionable". If you do not live a life [on social media] with your personal life and get involved in streaming media, you have almost turned your career back. Meanwhile, the new album, "Ma Vie Dans La Tien" appears on November 6.
HT: A great news, good luck ... I am sure that many countries are eagerly expecting it. What do you feel when you meet your song at places so far away?
Lara: Radio or in other places where your song is playing is a very good thing. The first time I went to hear my song in another country it amazes me, pleased to have reached so far away. But actually I do not want to hear my own song everywhere I go!
HT: How would you describe the music you make? Some say you have a 'smoky voice’, what do you think?
Lara: One’s own voice identification is very difficult. According to the culture, the same sound can be perceived in different ways. Because your compared artistic references have different and diverse artists. The important thing is you can push a vocal sense. Without understanding the language of the song as well ... If I'm with my song, you feel something, then that makes me happy.
HT: You make an unplanned duet with the audience on the now famous "Je T'aime". Your part is still being discussed. Should you place yourself separate from the audience…
Lara: That moment was really an unforgettable memory for me. Thousands of people with one voice "Je T'aime", or rather "On T'aime" which means "we love you" can not leave anyone screaming ineffectively. I could not hold back my tears, I'm an emotional person. I cannot hold my tears, my laughter is easy; I do not want to keep it in. If I am Canadian and Belgian, I have a Sicilian mother. This means that the blood flowing in my veins is Mediterranean.
HT: You're full of life. I wonder what is your happiest moment ...
Lara: Many happy memories form the moment, it’s impossible to choose one. My happy moment in Sicily, there now are childhood memories of living in a village near Mount Etna. The taste still of those beautiful Mediterranean dishes, my mother's cooking my food. Across the magnificent blue Mediterranean sea. I greedily eat it, that does not go out of my mind! Look, it's clear this origin? "Happiness" comes immediately to mind when you think mom and dinner.
HT: What do you do when you're sad?
Lara: To give a sensible answer to a tough question ... I try to understand the cause that led to my misery. Then I will endeavor to find a solution that will eliminate this cause. But I have 3 drugs against unhappiness; My family, being among my favorite people and music.
HT: What is your favorite audio that you love?
Lara: Talking about the vocal artist, primarily Barbra Streisand. I admire the sound. I had the opportunity to meet with her, with admiration and as a "fan" I have no qualms in expressing that. The sound of an artist such as Maria Callas is also incredibly beautiful. In general terms, we are talking about noise, traffic noise one can say first! Sounds, have a great effect on the human nervous system and mental health; it’s a real scientifically proven thing. In this regard, I am very interested in the practical Kotodama from the Japanese culture. Kotodama, a Far East technique that allows you to achieve inner peace via audio...
HT: It’s an important concept for you then to be at the right place at the right time...
Lara: Yup. Some things can occur by chance, coincidence can change your life and the life of the people one says. But I do not think the same thing. Do not misunderstand, I'm not the one of the fatalistic ones. On the contrary, I think people are experiencing the consequences of their decisions and that they are responsible for their own lives. One should endeavor to be at the right time in the right place. Some things, our deeds and decisions we face as a result. Whether you call it karma, or if you want, something else. Importantly, act responsibly, to be the best version of ourselves, at the right time to say the right things, being in the right place, to the right people.
HT: How do you know what you want to do? Usually you push your fingers to the right jobs.
Lara: You can see it really for me? Thank you! But I'm trying like everybody else, I'm moving my experience and learning from my mistakes. Go to this point where I outlined in my life, I know which way I move. Over time, you become more at peace with yourself. As such, it becomes clear what more closely resembles yourself in your music.
HT: Your stage costumes are simple but very stylish, you'll look elegant. Will you share your choice in your outfit?
Lara: First of all, I must be as comfortable as possible. I usually choose my clothes according to my own taste. I love working with young designers. Especially a young stylist in Turkey, Semih Doğruer, who prepares special for me very nice things.
HT: The album is to be released on November 6. Will you have a new project?
Lara: Always ... it would result in a project, one I’m preparing to offer, I'm starting a new project. As I stated earlier, my new French album is released on November 6. After this, I'm planning a tour; France, Belgium and in various European countries. 2016, however, we already have begun preparations for an international album. I love what I do. ... So it is productive and a great pleasure for me to constantly generate new projects.
HT: The audience is excited, do you have a message for them? What awaits them in concert?
Lara: I am very excited; mutual excitement ... I was waiting for this reunion with Turkey for a while. The realization of Zorlu Performing Arts Center, this gathering has a special significance for me as well. To perform at a concert venue in Istanbul is also a pleasure with high standards. This concert, I wanted to be different from the concerts I gave in other countries in recent months. Istanbul concert will be a surprise for you, at least you can expect that. It's a surprise that will never come to your mind. I cannot wait for this!
------------------------------------------------------------------
As usual, an interview of depth with Lara, and with this build-up, we cannot wait to see what will happen, either! We heard last week that Halit Ergenç, a Turkish actor and singer, will be the celebrity involved in the duet.
And, in one more future event, the ‘Lara Fabian web’ site provided a link to the news that Lara will be the first invitee to the Belgian version of ‘L’Academie des 9’ (http://www.telepro.be/011-35951-Exclusif-Lara-Fabian-sera-la-premiere-invitee-de-la-version-belge-de-L-Academie-des-9-La-Une.html). Here’s what the (translated) article says:
----------------------------------------------------
[Exclusive] Lara Fabian will be the first guest of the Belgian version of "The Academy of 9" (La Une [the TV channel in Belgium carrying the show])
We know a little more about the candidates for the Belgian version of the cult game from Antenne 2 [news program].
Initially, the public channel plays the game prudently, with three prime time previews. The broadcast should take place around the holidays at the end of the year.
The recordings will take place next week in Parisian studios that already hosts the French version on NRJ12.
A merry band of jokers
Wednesday, Télépro is already able to tell you a first guest list. So, Lara Fabian will be the first candidate "person" to answer questions from Maureen Louys.
She will be accompanied by Patrick Ridremont, Alex Vizorek, Jerome Warzée, Fabian Le Castel, Charlie Dupont, Pierre Kroll, Walid and Joëlle Scoriels.
Each show will last 90 minutes and will be decorated with musical and humorous sequences concocted by the candidates.
Last point: the French version of "L’Academie des 9”, hosted by Benjamin Castaldi, will probably never be visible in Belgium, negotiations were underway with AB3, but they failed.
Pierre Bertinchamps
------------------------------------------------------------
A little perspective: L'Académie des 9 is a French game show (although of American original) that first aired in 1982, and has been on various channels over time. In America it was called ‘Hollywood Squares’, and was broadcast from 1965-2004. It is an elaborate version of the game ‘Tic Tac Toe’. According to their web site (http://www.emissions-tv.com/emissions/344/l_academie_des_9_speciale_belgique),
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
9 celebrities are installed in a "grid" of 9 boxes, built on 3 floors.
This set of life-size X’s and O’s will see two candidates compete in 4 sets and 1 final. At stake up to 2,000 euros and a trip.
Each candidate must align its 3 symbols in the "Grid 9". How? Pointing to the celebrity who will have a good answer.
Celebrities answer the question asked by Maureen Louys. Then the candidate has to demonstrate intuition about whether the response of the celebrity is right or not. A celebrity must show the strength of conviction in his answers.
The first candidate to align its 3 symbols wins the round. The candidate winning the most sets arrives in the final.
In the final, the candidate meets one series of 9 open questions with a stopwatch.
-------------------------------------------------------
As noted, the aim, as in the standard game, is to make a line of circles or crosses. The first article lists the names of the nine participants. We’ve seen that Lara has a good mind for trivia; perhaps she’ll do well!
This morning Lara left a picture of herself with what looks like make-up being applied,
www.facebook.com/larafabianofficial/photos/a.215378125170359.50343.201065806601591/987425474632283/?type=1&theater
and the accompanying caption, “Almost ready…” Many fans thought this referred to the upcoming release of the second single, but the MZ FB site was sure it was the recording in Paris of "l'Académie des 9", which the article above noted was to take place this week. Fans can be excused because Lara has not mentioned that on her FB site (perhaps an oversight), but just possibly she was being tricky, implying both upcoming events.
In other news, Lara apparently was so enthralled with the ‘Cirque du soleil’ performance in Brussels that she went back once again. There are some more pictures (this time without other celebrities or a red carpet around), on the Amaluna – Cirque du soleil site, and picked up by Lara’s, at
www.facebook.com/Amaluna/photos/pcb.1048829601845005/1048829431845022/?type=1&theater
www.facebook.com/Amaluna/photos/pcb.1048829601845005/1048829458511686/?type=1&theater
www.facebook.com/Amaluna/photos/pcb.1048829601845005/1048829511845014/?type=1&theater
Included is their caption, “The famous Belgian Singer Lara Fabian has made a little surprise visit to the cast of Amaluna-Cirque du Soleil. She likes the show so much that she attended 2 performances in a week. Thank you Lara!”
Lara handles her fame with so little artifice that one forgets how truly charismatic she is; we just see reflections of it in the reactions of others, as from this troupe, famous in their own right.
And backstage, from the Lara Fabian – PHQ site,
www.facebook.com/353946178085395/photos/pcb.749477748532234/749477325198943/?type=1&theater
Going further back into the past, like Lara’s remembrance of Sicily in the Turkish news publication above, it seems to be the right time to note that in her ‘best of’ compendium album “Essential” released for the Italian market, Lara included some commentary. Here’s a translation:
---------------------------------------------------------------
For over 25 years I am fortunate enough to experience music…to hear it inside as the definition of who one is, like a destiny that would choose me even before I chose it…this feeling of being in absolute harmony with music, which allowed me to get this far, and to share my passion with you…for you.
This collection is a hybrid mixture of these great experiences through time…writing music and lyrics, in many languages, exploring my voice and looking more and more for the truth…
I hope that this very special stage of my amazing trip carries me always near to this dream I live with joy and integrity…
Close to you and to this splendid country: Italy…
Half of which flows in my blood…
Colors my soul.
Good listening…
Lara
-----------------------------------------------------------
From the choice of songs on this disc, it seems clear that, for whatever reason, they probably didn’t have access to Lara’s first English album (otherwise they likely would have included her Italian version of Adagio, rather than a ‘live’ English version).
An interesting video, with some wonderful acrobatic dancers performing to Lara’s vocal of ‘Je suis malade’ was provided by Marek Cibulka and linked by the Lara Fabian Voice of Passion site. It can also be seen at:
Interesting photo(s) of the week [in addition to the beautiful photo Lara put on her FB site], from Lara’s first trip to ‘Cirque des soleil’, posing with a clown

and from ‘La page des Fabianesk’,

In the coming week, perhaps even by the time you read this, Lara’s second single will be released, presumably with its accompanying video. We’ll see what, if anything, it has in common with the first single, which featured upbeat music combined with serious lyrics. At the very least, we’ll have two points to provide some perspective on the new album.

As to which song it will be…several sites are saying it was originally going to be ‘Non coupable’ but it was finally decided that it would be the song to her best friend Nathalie, which shares the name with the album, ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’, as can be seen in the following fan-produced picture:

Lara
