Lara continued with her promotional appearances this past week. The lead item would seem to have been her appearance on ‘Les Enfants de la Tele’, but ‘appearance’ was the operative word. Lara was part of a round-table discussion, with some 12 other people, and in a 35 minute segment, her contribution consisted of probably less than a half-minute of dialogue, primarily responding to a general question of whether each of the performers sing in the shower (Lara answered yes, indicating she sings along with a number of such activities). The other highlight – she got a kiss on her shoulder . Her limited active participation was due in part to a number of flashbacks (this was the 20th anniversary edition), and in part due to the accurate generalization that in large groups, men do most of the talking (also, the level of discourse can be appropriately summarized by the title of the show). Lara looked quite attractive, and if the goal was simply to provide her name recognition for her single and coming album release, one supposes that may have been accomplished. Lara’s portion of the video can be seen at:
vimeo.com/132064543
[The link Lara provided on her FB page does not work outside the country, due to TF1's restrictions; is their goal to limit the number of people who see their shows?]
In other promotional gigs, Lara joined the team of the radio show “Faut qu’on en parle”, (BelRTL) and while it wasn’t a real interview, and a lot else was going on, she did get a chance to talk about her early desire to be a singer, and living the life of a ‘real person’ during the time she couldn’t sing. She also noted both the album release and the DVD movie release on November 6th [more on that later]. The interview can be heard at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=H30K5XGZvnk
A more traditional interview took place on the radio show ‘Top Actu’ (France Bleu), in which Lara repeated that she rediscovered the joy of making music with this new album, which she believed in totally. Lara’s participation in the album “Les stars font leur cinema” (with ‘Unchained Melody’) also came up for discussion. Lara noted she will go on a little vacation with her family (after this promo is over), and that the Francophile tour next year for the new album will be from March to May, in France, Belgium and Switzerland. The audio can be heard at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vsGrBQQGrA
Lara was also interviewed on the show “Le 8/9 de Vivacité”, where in addition to repeating the ‘revelation’ of daily life to her portrayed in the lyrics of the new single, the subject of her appearance at the San Remo festival arose. Again Lara noted that she was not trying to win a trip to Eurovision, she simply wanted to perform before the Italian audience. It can be heard at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P8mvbNoxyU
In the last News Update, Lara’s being featured on the show “Stop ou Encore” was discussed. That program included presentations of her songs “Tout”, as well as the new single, and also ‘J’y crois encore’ as one can hear at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKVekh1pKJM&feature=youtu.be
The site ‘Operation Fan Club Lara Fabian” is responsible for making these audio presentations available, and also adding beautiful pictures to each of the youtube videos. Many thanks to Eve Leroy for all that hard work – it is much appreciated .
One has to say that the approach being used by Lara’s team, to introduce her as an international artist who has sold these millions of albums – as opposed to a French artist – appears to be working. It becomes more understandable to the hosts on these shows as to why Lara no longer ‘peaks’ in France, when they consider that she is working elsewhere much of the time. [And, actually, that is at least part of the truth of the matter]. She is then looked upon as something special, rather than a ‘has been’ on the French scene - somebody to be appreciated when she is there. As politicians know well, framing the argument is most of the battle, and while this may not ultimately help her sell records in the country, at least it gives her well-deserved respect.
How well this promotion is working in the short-term will be judged by how well the single does. It opened on June 15th in 44th place with 1000 copies sold; Nicolas Boucaud on the MZ FB site noted that it was 130th in airplay in France, 25th on France Bleu. In Belgium, it opened at #22 on the (Francophile) singles chart. The fact that Lara was being interviewed by top stations, and the single was in the rotation, is good news.
Several additional promotional articles have appeared, basically covering the same material we’ve seen already. One can find them, first from Paris Match, at:
www.parismatch.com/People/Musique/Lara-Fabian-savoure-sa-deuxieme-chance-et-la-fin-de-ses-problemes-de-sante-en-revenant-avec-une-nouvelle-chanson-783690,
with the title, “Lara Fabian savors her second chance”.
Also, in the publication ‘Az!kmut’, at:

with the first sentence, “One of the greatest voices of French song is back”.
And in Zik’ Ever (https://www.facebook.com/246805652001644/photos/a.247913198557556.83420.246805652001644/1105759132772954/?type=1&theater) with the following translation:

Lara Fabian signs her comeback with the single “Quand je ne chante pas”!
Lara Fabian is back with a new single “Quand je ne chante pas”, co-written and co-composed by herself. A touching and powerful title which announces the release of her next album November 6th, 2015!
Find the artist in the cinema for a unique show November 6th with “Un soir autour du monde”, the film of her unreleased concert recorded in Prague, last step of a sold out international tour!
----------------------------------------------------
As apparent in that article, and in other interviews, Lara is combining the promotions for the new album with that of the Prague concert movie release – both scheduled for November 6th. While their having the same release date was initially confounding, as the items have only Lara in common, it turns out that there is a method behind the madness. In fact, one can buy the DVD of that concert together with the new album – the so-called ‘Deluxe edition’ is available for pre-order, e.g.,
www.amazon.fr/dp/B0107VV7JO/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_awdo_w5OIvb102RYVG
or
musique.fnac.com/a8801131/Lara-Fabian-Ma-vie-dans-la-tienne-Inclus-DVD-CD-album
at both sites for ~20 euros,
while the CD by itself can be found at
www.amazon.fr/vie-dans-tienne-Lara-Fabian/dp/B0107VS43Q/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1435626665&sr=1-2&keywords=Ma+vie+dans+la+tienne
or
musique.fnac.com/a8801130/Lara-Fabian-Ma-vie-dans-la-tienne-CD-album
at both sites for18 euros.
The idea of packaging them may well have arisen from Lara’s experience with the French edition of the ‘Mademoiselle Zhivago” CD where as an added lure she included the Moscow TV concert DVD. However, that concert was at least about the ‘Mademoiselle Zhivago’ music. Nevertheless, the concept could well have taken hold, and instead of buying them individually, this raises the opportunity that people in France will actually pay to see Lara sing songs they have heard countless times, and in fact, for many of them, have on various DVDs of hers already. Hey - it can’t hurt!
.
And having the DVD play concurrently in a movie theatre on the night of the release would seem to be a new idea, but you may remember that when ‘Le Secret’ premiered, Lara put on a show introducing it that same evening (with more musicians than the tour of it ever had). Again, the live show was on the same topic, but in both cases the hope apparently is that as Entertainment news, one gets an added bonus the more items there are to discuss.
This cinematic evening now has its own FB page, called “LARA FABIAN – UN SOIR AUTOUR DU MONDE” (An Evening Around the World), located at:
www.facebook.com/events/1631383590437153/
One wonders, from the title, whether it is called that because Lara gave that show ‘around the world’ (i.e., in many countries), or because the movie is going to be shown that evening in many countries (less likely, although Warner has a global reach). It is now in 107 cinemas, all in France and Belgium so far. In any event, one would think they are taking a bit of a risk. For one thing, does Lara still have the clout in Franc to draw people to a big screen to see her? Also, the movie is being released concurrently with the DVD – as one can see on that link above, this ‘special edition’ is to be available that same day. Furthermore, as noted above, the new album plus DVD costs 20 euros, while the CD itself is 18 euros, so the added cost of the DVD is only 2 euros. In contrast, going to the cinema to see the DVD (albeit on a big screen) that one night by itself costs 15 euros, so not very ‘cost effective’. Hopefully, the novelty of the event will draw people in, and Lara (and Warner) will not be left with empty movie theaters! At least it will give them both a reading as to how much popularity Lara still has left there.
In other news, Lara’s 2nd year wedding anniversary took place this past week, which Lara announced, in her own way, with an Instagram photo
and the caption “On this magical day for me…a kiss/thought for you…
A number of the fans and fan sites presented congratulations to Lara, and several even prepared little videos. e.g.,

And from Lara Fabian web:

Concerning the question of Lara’s controversial concert scheduled for July 9th in Northern Cyprus, we have not heard anything further, and tickets are still being sold apparently [a FB page advertising it is at:
www.facebook.com/events/820062348071744/]. One has to assume that if there is no further comment on Lara’s part, it will go ahead as scheduled. Lara would seem to have the uncomfortable choice of disappointing either Mustafa Ceceli or Mario Frangoulis …
