Obviously, THE news item of this past week was Lara’s release yesterday of her new single, as covered in the previous thread. It has received a hugely positive response from her audience, and also from others not easily identified as her ‘angels’. At the time of this writing, the song is #4 on Amazon, #15 on iTunes France (it was as high as #2), #46 in Belgium, #197 in Slovenia…It is available on Spotify, iTunes, musicme, Amazon, and Google Play, all in France (and presumably Belgium). The numbers and countries will clearly change…As far as I can tell, it is not (yet) available in many other countries (e.g., U.S.).
ChartsinFrance seems to have given it a ‘thumbs up’, as seen at (http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Lara-Fabian/news-97438.html#QfsF2W4lzPrjLDj0.01):
"Quand je ne chante pas": Lara Fabian comes back with a single, pop and positive.
A nice big version of the cover pocket for the single is the centerpiece on Lara’s official URL, http: larafabian.com – which also plays the song in its entirety. Note that elsewhere this is being referred to as the ‘radio edit’, so it’s possible that the album may have a longer version.
In association with the single’s release, Lara has jumped into the promotional mode with numerous appearances in the media. We’ll start with her press interviews, First a (translated) article in ‘Le Parisien’ (http://www.leparisien.fr/musique/video-lara-fabian-j-ai-retrouve-la-joie-de-chanter-15-06-2015-4862835.php):

Lara Fabian, the victim of an auditory accident that rendered her deaf for several weeks, returns after a long rehabilitation, with a single.
"I'm sorry, I smile all the time. "During the photo shoot, Lara Fabian does not play the distant diva. Since she almost lost her hearing after two auditory shock and was forced to stop singing for ten months - from January to October 2014 - she took a step back and returned "transformed, more casual and light."
At 45, she has found a fulfilling family life, between her daughter Lou, 8, and her husband, the Italian magician Gabriel di Giorgio, whom she married two years ago. And she has found the way to the studio. Her next album, "Ma vie dans la tienne” (My life in yours), will be released on November 6. She made us listen in exclusivity to six of the twelve tracks, including effectively the first single, "Quand je ne chante pas", released today. Reunion with an open heart.
How are you doing?
LARA FABIAN. Very well thank you. My hearing is almost back as before. It's just a very bad memory. But for three weeks, it was total panic. I was deaf, bluntly. I was subjected to a total silence at home. No car, no train, or plane. Supermarkets, horns, it was unbearable!
The question of not being able to sing anymore, was it posed?
LF: Of course, for without sound, no voice. I was exposed to a tremendous treatment, intravenous fluids in a hyperbaric chamber in a military hospital. I had to relearn everything. It returned only gradually, thanks to my singing teacher, Patricia. I cried my race [i.e., Italian]! With such a problem, you realize that you are infinitely human, fragile. My husband and daughter Lou helped me tremendously. The father of my daughter (note: the television director Gérard Pullicino) was very present. It was pretty tremendous.
What exactly happened to you?
LF: I had two hearing shocks, the first on a television set, the second at a concert. The first, which was very violent - I took 1,000 hertz in the ears and fell to the earth - forced me to suspend the tour, the second forced me to stop everything. I was like in a bubble of silence, with intense bass sounds. When my daughter was talking softly I could not hear. And here you freak out. And not just for the singer, for the woman ....
This is the theme of "Quand je ne chante pas" ...
LF: In our lives, we run all the time. This mandatory retirement has at least allowed me to make a break, to go look for my daughter at school, move as a family, walk in the woods a lot, think about the future.
You changed management ...
LF: The shock upset everyone. We no longer looked in the same direction. My new producer encouraged me to resume concerts as soon as possible. As we go back on the horse after a fall. But the first date in Germany, I was so scared! I do not remember anything. Except for the end with the standing spectators applauding.
You completed a world tour. When will you return to sing in France?
LF: I started the stage from abroad, because I had to honor the commitments made before the accident. And then there was this incredible episode with "Make me Yours Tonight" in Turkey. The singer Mustafa Ceceli called to offer me this duo and we remained 50 weeks No. 1 in sales! We will come back in France in March 2016 and we will start with the Pleyel room.
You also have a new music team ...
LF: I feel I have found a new musical family with Elodie Hesme and David Gategno (note: the David of David and Jonathan, composer today). We have made with this album that which we are in life. Everything seemed the first time. The first time you compose a song, that you record it ... This second chance in life, is quite exceptional. I savor the pleasure to sing it. What luck I have had!
Hence the song " "Non coupable" [Not guilty], where you sing: "From all I am capable, even yelling “Je t’aime" ...
LF: I even wanted to take it as first single, like a great laugh. No matter all that I have heard, I have found again the joy of singing and the desire to explore my voice. Not for the competition, to be me. But this song, it's not [only] that Lara, is also the girl in the company who changes her style to be accepted, it is the freedom to think, to express herself ... Who we may be, we should not apologize for being who we are.

Lara Fabian: Her shocking confessions about her rehabilitation!
In late November 2013, Lara Fabian has been forced to cancel her tour, following serious health problems. Suffering from a sudden hearing loss, the singer was subjected to shock treatment. Today, she comes back stronger than ever, happy to sing again. With a new album scheduled for next November it promises to be a very personal album.
Lara Fabian is back! And yet her recent health problems presaged no good. Obliged to suspend her tour after suffering two hearing shocks, the singer had wanted to explain to fans the reasons for the premature termination of her concert series: "As you know, the past weeks have been rough .. . To abandon in Auxerre following my inner ear concern was the beginning of a painful situation to manage for me, making me to face the consequences of this auditory shock received on a television set on May 30. [ ...] They (two ENT specialists Teachers) formally asked me to have a firm resting time these next 10 days and not expose myself to the acoustic pressure that a singing tour requires. Furthermore, in order to preserve the rest of my tour, I will be forced to have to rearrange the dates on a schedule considering this medical problem. That is to say, by imposing on myself days off between some performances. [... ] I do not want to go on stage in fear or being forced to sing saving myself ... an artist can not economize ... ", she had said with regret on her Facebook page. [Of course, ultimately she had to cancel the whole tour].
…
HER BATTLE AT THE HEART OF HER NEW ALBUM
Lara Fabian explained that in this new album, she wanted to explore all the ranges of her voice, happy to use it again. The album promises to be very personal because the singer has taken to write about this difficult period, where her future as a singer but also as a woman has been questioned. The first single "Quand je ne chante pas" relates this bad experience. However, Lara Fabian would also have liked to select "Non coupable" [Not guilty] to be the first single from the new album. Indeed, in this song, she makes a nice snub to the criticisms she has received, including the release of her hit "Je t’aime", that she was accused of shouting: "I wanted to take it as a first single, as a great laugh. No matter what I have heard, I have found again the joy of singing and the desire to explore my voice. Not to compete, to be me. But this song, it's not [only] that Lara, it is also the girl in the company changing her style to be accepted, it is the freedom to think, to express herself... Who we may be, we should not apologize for being who we are. " she concludes.

Lara Fabian: “I Have Found Again the Joy of Singing”
(Again skipping the parts that simply restate her comments from Le Parisien)
Lara Fabian will present her new album to her fans in a few months, a new more personal record: "I co-wrote all the songs, “Le cœur qui tremble” [The Heart Which Trembles] is written for my daughter Lou, like a confession from a mother to her child ... “Ma vie dans la tienne” [My Life in Yours] speaks of my best friend ... "she explains. This new album will be released through her new record label, Warner Music, and in collaboration with a new musical team: "I have the feeling of having found a new family ... we made with this album what we are in life, all felt like the first time." Still a little patience, the album cover should also reserve a little surprise to her fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------
The articles, primarily ‘Le Parisien’ are revealing in a number of respects, but with the subsidiary comments in the other publications, we learn that not only is Warner Music the distributor of this album (like they were in some countries for ‘Le Secret’), they are actually her new music company. [Actually, if you signed up for her ‘newsletter’ on her official URL, you will notice that the email comes from larafabien@e.warnermusic.com]. And her new musical team consists of the co-writer of the lyrics for ‘Quand je ne chante pas’, Elodie Hesme, and the co-writer of the music, David Gategno. Lara posted pictures of herself with them on her FB site,

Here is their (translated) accompanying article ((http://mfmradio.fr/musique/podcast/11135/lara-fabian-cest-un-tue-lamour-de-dormir-avec-ses-chaussettes-):
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Laurent Argelier woke Lara Fabian on MFM Radio!
This morning, Lara Fabien confides her little morning ritual: "I refreshed the face, brush my teeth, I cling to the hair so as not to be bothered by the first tasks of the morning. After everyone I take a shower. Eh no I do not sleep with my socks, I remind you that I am married and it kills love to sleep with socks! "
The Italian-Belgian singer is back with a new single called ‘Quand je ne chante pas’ from her new album to be released on November 6. Will she win the French public? "This song is actually a fact. Outside the art that we do, that is what it is, we are all connected on the same frequency. We all have a daily [life] to unfold, and orchestrate." And when she does not sing, she's a woman like all the others:"I am wife, a mother, a woman. I do a lot of normal stuff, I go shopping, I'll go get the little one at school, I cook, I put some order in the house. "
Following her last shortened tour, Lara Fabian hopes to catch up with the release of her new album “Ma vie dans la tienne": "it is the recital of many stories that I experienced, and also the testimony of love for all the people I love, there is a song for my daughter, my husband, my best friend, my mother ... It is both narrative and autobiographical, this album is really plugged into a lived emotion."
Lara Fabian became one of the divas of the 90s, a powerful voice, a romantic and popular repertoire, today she makes the point: "For 20 years, I have done the best I could, it is already a good thing to last over time. After that what I think from a musical point of view, we do what we love. I am very close to my music, because it is a reflection of who I am. Today I aspire to be well from day to day! "
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In general, the radio interviews covered similar ground to the press interviews, albeit with some more explicit humor. Also, she talked a little bit more about her world tour and filming of the concert in Prague - things she largely stayed away from in press interviews that were focused on experiences to which her French audience could more closely relate. She also admitted that her hearing had not really returned 100%, and she has had to make some adjustments.
Lara by herself tried to insert a little of her daily life into fans’ awareness on her on FB site, with the message, “My angels, This morning beginning 7:00 with Loulou, breakfast, shower, dress, school, 8:00 one prepares oneself, 9:00 on the way to the station with just my little favorite handbag, and presto, what I put in it: Quand je ne chante pas!!!!!
See you later!
Lov”

and – then with the contents of the bag -

accompanied by the caption; “So?....I said what???
Quand je ne chante pas… dans mon Versa … ahhaha”
Wednesday morning she will be on RTL on the broadcast "Laissez vous tenter" at 0900. Actually, she premiered the song on that station – here was her plug for it:
www.facebook.com/BelRTLradio/videos/vb.169449309753828/997373506961400/?type=2&theater
And Lara’s webteam wrote on her FB site that to listen to ‘Quand je ne chante pas’ in the RTL emission ‘Stop ou Encore’, fans should vote every day for Lara on the RTL site (http://www.rtl.fr/culture/arts-spectacles/cali-zucchero-et-james-blunt-parmi-les-artistes-du-stop-ou-encore-des-auditeurs-7778659284); Lara is listed in the group for June 21.
She also has several TV appearances lined up, as noted previously: on June 20th she is scheduled to be on “Fete de la musique” on France 2 and also on ‘Du soleil et des tubes’ in Nice.
When Lara said the new album would be similar to her past most popular album releases, such as ‘Carpe Diem’, ‘Pure’, and ‘Nue’, fans wondered what that would really mean. This first release, at least, provides the evidence: a song that, like most of her ‘hits’, starts slowly and builds to a crescendo (a la ‘Je suis malade’, ‘Tout’ and ‘Je t’aime’ – as well as ‘Adagio’); lyrics that are intensely personal on a worldly theme (and hence differ from the largely more abstract issues addressed in ‘Le Secret’ – which Daniela Lumbroso on France Bleu called a “profound” album); and singing that reaches the full power of a ‘singer of voice’. As clearly indicated by the title “When I do not sing”, Lara focuses on the period of time of her enforced silence due to her suffering from ‘acoustic shock’. Apparently the album as a whole will use that as a unifying subject, continuing the well-trod path of singer/songwriters using personal tragedies to provide material for songs that allow them to transcend the literal event and make it more general. The songs dedicated to those who she loves around her may well play off this theme as well.
However, not everybody likes this turn toward the old ‘popular hits’ version of Lara… In her desire to ‘start anew’, and, in effect, separate herself from ‘Le Secret’ (whose relatively poor sales Lara explains as due to her inability to promote it), she has left behind those who appreciated its depth, e.g., a reviewer (Jerome Mangel) on L’Obs (http://leplus.nouvelobs.com/contribution/1385812-.html) (thanks to the MZ FB site for the link). Here’s the translation:
--------------------------------------------
The new single of Lara Fabian: a confusing artistic regression!
In 2013, I discovered a Lara Fabian I did not know. First, by a first single in favor of tolerance, an auditory and visual jewel lost in a society that cried foul over the law of marriage for all. "Deux ils, Deux elles” reconciled me with the artist that I had not heard since my childhood.
Then when the album "The Secret" was available, I was transported into a very intimate universe. Lara Fabian opened her heart, her body and her soul in a sequence of sound tracks each more intoxicating than the other ... The desire to have children, the ode to life and its joys, the quest of man / lover ... So many themes related to the privacy of the artist and her audience. She thus unveiled for us a part of her secret life and invited us to enter her soul.
After such a surprise, the announcement of his new single pushed me to wait with desire. And when I discovered it, a disappointment ...
Via social networks, Lara announced a return to her sources for her next album. Indeed, it remains in the variety that has made her known. Except the intimate codes that I had enjoyed in the previous album are no longer available in this new song. A nice text, a pretty melody but no soul ...
A text that still keeps some agreements of intimacy, revealing a woman who wants as all others despite a media life.
The most unusual is that I have the impression of hearing one of the songs from the last album of Celine Dion!! I made a leap of three years back by realizing in seconds that this title could be on the album "Sans Attendre" of the Canadian diva. Same musical codes, same scriptures. And also a very close vocal tone of Lea Michelle and her "Cannonball". Really confusing!
Several listenings have failed to persuade me that it is the return of Lara Fabian. The song is really pretty, that's not the black point. What is really disturbing is that I have the impression that she has just regressed in her artistic process by a copy/ paste which nevertheless remains correct. To open the door to her secret garden and then slam it firmly.
Do not judge a book by its cover, I hope to enjoy the album of the idealistic Lara that I got used to!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly, what Lara is trying to do is find the perfect compromise between intimacy and popularity, with ‘Le Secret’ being perhaps too ‘intimate’ and on topics not sufficiently ‘popular’, while albums like ‘Neuf’ and ‘TLFM’ were not sufficiently ‘intimate’. It’s a fine line, and we’ll see how the album as a whole does in this regard. She is also trying to appeal to the public by saying that “I’m just like you – I have the same tasks to do, and problems, it’s just that I also sing – and when I can’t sing, then there is no real distinction.” In that way she hopes to reverse any ‘diva’ reputation that separates her from a larger potential audience outside of her ‘Angels’. We’ll also see how well that works.
As for the album, not due out until November 6, we now have the names of six of the songs: ‘Quand je ne chante pas’; ‘Non coupable’; ‘Ma vie dans la tienne’ , ‘Le coeur qui tremble’; ‘S’il ne reste qu’un ami’; and ‘Elle danse’. The impression one gets from Lara’s comments is that she is actually still working on the album, perhaps the other six cuts (there will be 12 in all). As she said, the songs will be devoted to both her recent health challenge and the people in her life; and from a comment she made in her France bleu interview, it will feature, like on her past hit albums, songs that are of “the great ballad”-type.
In other news, in what must be categorized as a mystifying occurrence, Lara has announced the date of the debut of the Live DVD filmed in Prague of the ‘Best of’ tour. Actually the announcement came from the newsletter that Warner is distributing. It informs us that the film will be shown at some 20 of the CGR theatres throughout France (tickets can be bought at www.fnacspectacles.com/place-spectacle/recherche-billet-CILAR.htm?utm_source=cotediffusion.fr&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=lara-fabian&eml=2015June15/2478910/6368281&etsubid=146588801). The date? November 6th! Obviously not an accidental choice!
It doesn’t appear as if the DVD itself will be made available then, or at least that’s not being advertised, but one has to wonder about the rationale of having this big splash for the Prague show in movie theatres the very same day that the new album is released. Perhaps the idea is that Lara wants to dominate the music news in France, and what better way to do it than to cover both the musical and cinematic fronts. Or since the movie deals primarily with ‘older’ songs, the thought is that they would be balanced by introducing new songs at the same time (to avert the ‘oldies’ label). Or people enamored with one of these things will then pursue the other. But a problem is that apart from Lara, the two products are in no way related. It is possible that they will interfere with one another, or at least confuse the audience who might, reasonably enough, think they are the same product in two different forms. One suspects that this Update will not be the only venue that considers this a curious timing decision .
In completely unrelated news, it was reported by Lara Fabian Turkey that Lara will be on concert in Cyprus, on July 9th. This will be part of the Famagusta International Festival, and she will be performing at the antique Roman theatre of Salamis. Wonder if she will sing the new song…or fall back on the setlist from the ‘best of’ tour. Given that this appears to be in the north Cyprus ‘Turkish’ section, “Make Me Yours Tonight” may be likely. One can see an article concerning this performance at (https://www.facebook.com/events/820062348071744/) - with a somewhat different picture of Lara.
Interesting photos of the week: After very few postings on her FB site the past few months, as you can tell, Lara is now utilizing it for anything that comes to mind. She posted a photo of herself with Melody Gardot, a well-known jazz singer, it can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/pages/Lara-Fabian-est-ton-autre/166959643357708
with the caption, “A pause in my Parisian hotel…Melody Gardot…I finally meet her…I ADOOOOORE her…”
Also, a picture from “Angels du bout du monde”,

Lara’s promotions continue for the next several weeks, and hopefully the new single will get the recognition it deserves. Even more, hopefully people will remember that by the time the new album is released in November.
