The last two tour dates on Lara’s ‘best of’ ‘World Tour’ (though it is hardly that) come up next week, Bratislava, Slovakia on June 3, and Prague on June 5. In preparation, there have been some promotional articles. First for Bratislava

Lara Fabian will perform June 3, 2015 at a concert in Bratislava Aegon Arena.
During her stay in Bratislava she will have the opportunity to admire the stately Prague Castle area. The singer was invited to tour connected with learning about the history of the city from President Peter Pellegrini.
Lara Fabian, real name Lara Crokaert, the French-speaking Belgian-Italian singer is known for her work with her characteristic voice. Apart from English, she has sung in French, Italian, Spanish and all these languages she speaks fluently. And she also sang songs in Portuguese and in 1988 released the German version of the song Croire (Glaub) despite the fact that neither one of those languages does she speak. She has sold over 12 million albums and record companies and some media talk about her as a new [sic] Celine Dion.
Lara during his long career has worked with many world-renowned artists such as Celine Dion, Sheryl Crow, Robbie Williams, Alanis Morissette, but also with Steven Spielberg, for whom she sang the soundtrack for the film AI Artificial Intelligence. Several times she has managed to sell out the most famous concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall and Bercy [in Paris].
Viewers around the world admire her work which is the combination of pop, chanson, world music, jazz or classical music. The audience at live concerts will appreciate, most of all, when Lara Fabian briefly abandons a microphone and sings without it because her voice technology does not need any support.
The Aegon Arena (NTC) in Bratislava on 3 June can look forward to her greatest hits, such as Je t'aime, Adagio, Tout, I will love again or Je suis Malade.
Date and place: June 3, 2015, Aegon Arena-NTC - Odbojárov street, Bratislava, Slovakia
Tickets are still on sale just Ticketportal or go to www.Ticketportal.sk .

And then, for Prague (http://www.praguepost.com/night-day/47953-lara-fabian-returning-to-forum-karlin):

Last show in the current tour will see the taping of a live DVD
While the outdoor summer festival is poised to begin, there are still some notable indoor shows coming.
Lara Fabian
When: June 5 at 8 p.m.
Where: Forum Karlín
larafabian.com/
Belgian-born Lara Fabian comes June 5 and is no stranger to Forum Karlín, having played twice in October 2014 when the first show sold out quickly. Her Prague date is the last listed on her current tour, and she will be recording a new live DVD here because the audiences were the most enthusiastic, she said.
“We are extremely proud that Lara chose Prague for the shooting; it’s like winning the gold medal for production. But it’s not only about us, the credit also belongs to the amazing crowd that created such a beautiful atmosphere during both of the October concerts in Prague,” Zdeněk Masopust of promoter BTL Agency said when the concert was announced.
Belgian-born Fabian represented Luxembourg in the 1988 Eurovision contest, coming in fourth, losing to Celine Dion who represented Switzerland.
Fabian soon moved to Quebec, Canada, with fellow musician Rick Allison and released albums there in French, finding success on French-language charts.
She began recording in English in 1999, having a No. 1 hit with “I Will Love Again.” And since then has recorded and performed in both French and English, as well as Azerbaijani, German, Greek, Hebrew, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
Her most recent album is Le Secret, released in 2013. It contains the single “Deux ils, deux elles,” which is in favor of LGBT rights.

Of most interest will be the concert of the DVD recording. Lara has historically had to deal with her health at events such as this, though one would hope that after all these years she has learned to take it in stride. Nevertheless, often performers record on more than one day (which Lara has done in the past), just to give themselves more options. On the other hand, these are songs she knows very well; perhaps she feels it will be straightforward (and less expensive) to do it just once. Let’s hope she’s right…
From the future to the past…the Lara Fabian – PHQ site has published numerous photos of Lara from her recent appearance in Minsk; they can be found at:

Of course none of the songs she sang there will be featured on her upcoming DVD, and most of them appeared on the Concert from Moscow DVD she included with the French release of the Mademoiselle Zhivago package.
That also brings to mind that very few songs from ‘Le Secret’ have been part of her standard ‘best of’ tour (generally only ‘Il est lune’) – one wonders whether they will ever get their own DVD. Of course, almost two years ago Lara asked the audience to send her videos from the abbreviated ‘Le Secret’ tour for just such a purpose, but – so far – we’ve never heard anything more about it.
Delving further back, videos of almost the complete concert Lara gave in Tallin, Estonia (on 4-22) have become available (we previously had none). They are:

Undoubtedly the professionally recorded video and sound from Prague next week will be even higher quality, but these will do until it hits the shelves, probably for the end-of-year holiday season (although if there really is a new release of a French album in the fall, that timing might well be tricky…).
Tom York has collected “interviews, articles and critiques written in the press and on the internet” about the remixes he did for Lara of “Make Me Yours Tonight”. The list can be found at: tomyork.net/shop/ [only the first category refers to this work]. They are standard promotional briefs, with no real reviews of the music, except to say that it provides Lara with a ‘facelift’ and a new entry into the dance music world, her first since ‘I Will Love Again’.
In related news, it appears that there is still a delay in getting the physical CDs of ‘Selection’ (including these remixes) onto the shelves. One wonders what the reason for that is…delays of this duration on an album’s release usually have the effect of suppressing sales, though perhaps that’s less of a concern in this digital age. Nevertheless, it does seem to show a breakdown in planning for the album, which was delayed numerous times, presumably at least partly for legalistic reasons.

One more week before the final ‘best of’ concerts – hopefully Lara – and all of you (in the Northern Hemisphere) will spend it enjoying the Spring-time weather.
