As expected, Lara participated in another Krutoi gala this past week in Minsk, Belarus. We have some videos from it, not of the best visual quality but with good audio:

Lara appears at ~2:51, singing a bit of the Russian version of ‘Je t’aime encore’ [aka ‘Karma’].
In a review of the concert in ‘Minsk news’ (http://minsknews.by/blog/2015/05/16/v-minsk-arene-proshel-tvorcheskiy-vecher-igorya-krutogo/) there was the following (translated) report:
---------------------------------------------------------
On the stage of "Minsk-Arena" was held the creative evening of composer Igor Krutoy, "Encore!".
The concert was also attended by Nikolai Baskov, Sergey Lazarev, Larisa Dolina, Olga Kormuhina, Angelika Varum, Irina Allegrova, Lara Fabian, a children's choir "New Wave" of the Academy of popular music of Igor Krutoy. Accompanied by the honored team of Belarus - Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus (chief conductor - Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Babarikin) pop stars performed songs composed to his music by turns. The agency "Minsk-news" reports that Lara Fabian, an artist of sincere emotions and feelings, captured the audience and the language barrier in this case was not an obstacle. And at the concert in Minsk the audience vividly responded to her songs. According to the singer, she was pleased to re-visit our city.
---------------------------------------------------------
Actually, it is hard to judge Lara’s vocal performance, for it is never clear how much is really being sung live when Krutoi is involved, but Lara certainly puts on a good show.

Lara Fabian: "Music is much more beautiful than words"
05.17.2015, 15:05 Ilya Ripak
French singer and winner of numerous awards in the world of music Lara Fabian on the evening on May 15 addressed the Minsk Arena in the framework of the creative evening of composer Igor Krutoy’s show "encore!". Her performance was one of the most anticipated: after Lara appeared on the scene, the audience burst into applause. Having sung several songs, the singer responded to questions from the press backstage at the Arena.
- What were your expectations before the concert, and what impressions did you end up with?
- I did not have expectations in Minsk: my main goal - to share emotions with the audience, and today the emotion from the audience came back to me, even, so the Belarusian audience was pleasant.
- Virtually no one in the audience knew French. What was it like to speak to the audience?
- I think that the music is much more beautiful than words! Optionally, it is not necessary to understand the words to receive any emotions while listening to the song and the language barrier is not a serious obstacle.
- How do you feel about the "Eurovision"?
- I like this competition, and I even took part in it, when I was 18. (Lara Fabian took 4th place in "Eurovision-88" Luxembourg - Ed.) . At that time, when I took part in "Eurovision", it was a competition, to significantly expand the circle of acquaintances and to open new horizons in different countries.
- Eighteen months ago, in the Minsk Arena there appeared another famous French singer - Mylene Farmer. How do you feel about her work?
- I love Farmer, I admire her style of work in the music business – I consider her an artist who knows how to build a career. From her songs I like the most the duet with Shiloh «Les Mots» and «Libertine»: when Milen released this song, I was delighted, because it was something new in the music world.
-----------------------------------------------------------
[It’s not clear whether this was a dig at Mylene Farmer – praising her ability to ‘build a career’ rather than her quality as an artist!].
Lara also gave an interview to a Russian publication ‘Living 7 Days’ available at 7dney.by/ru/issues?art_id=3264; here’s the translation:

Lara Fabian: "St. Lorenzo made my wish come true"
Arthur Mehtiyev
Thanks to the producing and composing talent of composer Igor Krutoy, in post-Soviet countries a non-Slavic singer had gained a certain popularity - world famous star Lara Fabian. She was born January 9, 1970 in Etterbeek, a commune near Brussels (Belgium). When she was 14 years, Lara was successfully performing with her guitarist father. In the competition for discovering new talent, "Springboard", she once won three main prizes. Soon Lara Fabian ranked fourth in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1991, she released her first album, “Lara Fabian”. 1997 was the year of her European recognition as her second album Pure had a resounding success on the old continent. The singer got her first European gold disc.
In our country, Lara Fabian also has become known and loved. She has successfully performed at the "Slavonic Bazaar in Vitebsk" in 2009, and in 2010 in Minsk, presented jointly with Igor Krutoy the show/project "Mademoiselle Zhivago", which was a great success.
- You came from a musical dynasty, is this the reason that since your childhood you have decided to dedicate yourself to the stage?
-Yes, I have a grandmother, mother and father who sing very well and play various instruments. We can say that I had inherited the love of music. Even as a child my grandmother told me that there is a belief: August 12th, the day of St. Lorenzo, if you make a wish - it will come true. I remember there were many stars in the sky, and I put forth 12 times in a row the same thing - to sing and play music. Since then, I did not think of anything else, only about the stage. I am very grateful to my father that when I was eight years old he gave me a piano and enrolled me in music school. In gratitude, I arranged a concert at home. Everybody liked it, and even my grandmother cried. And when I saw the tears on her face, I thought, I want to make people have such emotions. And soon, I wrote my first song. And at17 years old, under the impressions of first love, I wrote my first song lyrics.
- Is it true that you were named after the heroine of Boris Pasternak's novel "Doctor Zhivago"?
- Yes! My mother worked as a teacher of literature and loved Russian literature. On the eve of my birthday came the film "Doctor Zhivago" with Omar Sharif in the title role. My parents liked the film so that they watched it several times. So when I was born, I was called Lara.
- Singer Lara Fabian conquered the world. What do you think, why does the audience love you so much?
- First of all, because I'm the same as they are. I'm just an ordinary woman who does not have a piercing mind like Albert Einstein nor the divine form of Claudia Schiffer. And, perhaps, for the fact that for these people I am a source of inspiration and make their lives more enjoyable.
- You sing in different languages, including Russian. And what language is the most difficult to sing?
- It seems to me that the Russian language is one of the toughest in the world. But when I began to work with Igor Krutoy, I managed to learn a few songs. But singing in Chinese failed. So I can confidently say that the most difficult language -
Chinese.
- It is known that artists are superstitious people. You are not an exception?
- No. I'm also very superstitious: baptized during takeoff, pray when landing, go up on stage with my left foot, pay attention to the objects and ropes that form the shape of a cross.
- You look lovely. Reveal to us the secret of your beauty.
- I lead a healthy lifestyle. I have special creams for the face, but also make sure to drink two liters of water a day - it's very useful. I have a balanced diet, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and I sleep at least 10 hours.
- You have a lot of fans who have showered flowers, presented souvenirs and somehow evince their love. What act has a fan done that you found especially memorable?
- Many times I was moved by the attention of my fans. But the most memorable was at a performance in Paris, where at the stage in front of me there was a girl of eight, who held a single flower and said, "Take this flower, I raised it myself. Recently, my dad died, and when I hear your songs, it seems to me that he is alive and with me. " After these words, I almost burst into tears. Since then, every time I'm in Paris, I make sure to call this little friend of mine. We meet together and have a walk on the streets and have fun. We have become very close.
- Lara respond as a woman: what do you value most in a man?
- As I am a joker, I appreciate in men a sense of humor. And also decency, good manners and honesty. My ideal man is honest, with a strong open look, and skillful hands.
- Your dream to become a singer has come true. Is there still something you continue to dream?
- Yes, my main dream has come true and I am very grateful to the fates for this. But as anyone I have many little desires. For example: since I am often away from home for extended periods, I dream to be in my homeland, to accept guests, to take care of their feeding. I love sweets, but because of my propensity to gain weight I am forced to keep to a diet and deny myself the pleasure of delicious treats. Also I dream to sleep, because during tours I don't do it enough.
- Is it true that you offered to appear in a film?
- Two filmmakers have given me suggestions to shoot a film, but unfortunately, due to my schedule filled with touring, I gave up the proposals. But I would like to try in cinematography.
- Do you have a favorite actress or filmmaker?
-
My favorite actress is Sophie Marceau, and director, Claude Lelouch.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a word of any of this on Lara’s official FB site –it’s as if it took place in an alternate universe, which Lara appears to think it is (and that includes the choice of songs, with no overlap with her ‘best of’ tour). Granted, in this day and age, her public performances are covered by various fan sites wherever they are, but it would be an additional treat for her to acknowledge them. And given her recent experience in North America, she must realize that she has many fans around the world who are Russian speaking, and they deserve the attention of her official website as well. [So if she’s criticized for it in the French press…well, it wouldn’t be the first time…and in ‘show business’, there’s almost no such thing as bad publicity].
Back further west (or south), Thierry Palomares on the MZ FB site noted that three weeks after its release, the ‘best of’ album “Selection” does not rank on iTunes in the various countries in which it was released. The same is true of ‘Essential’, the Italian release. ‘Les Stars font leur cinema’ has dropped to #20 on the French charts. The various remixes of 'Make Me Yours Tonight' do not seem to be ranked either, although I may just have missed them. . Of topical interest, in Belarus, 'Mademoiselle Zhivago' is currently #94 on iTunes, and 'Le Secret' is #101.

Lara is off for a few more weeks before heading to Bratislava, Slovakia, followed by the filming of her live concert in Prague. Something to look forward to!
