Lara started her ‘bit of’ Scandinavian concert tour last night, with her performance in Stockholm, Sweden. We already have several videos; first full length, high quality versions of:
Adagio: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHjFWvpfg9Y
and
I Will Love Again: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAk8L74DoEA
And then short sections, of ‘Caruso’:

As you can tell, it was cold in the room, and Lara continues to be in very good voice. Hopefully more videos from this show will be available by the next Update (as well as more shows).
Meanwhile, several of the upcoming musical releases got some play in the media. The French press appears to have chosen to view the upcoming ‘Odacity’ release as Lara’s release. A number of articles have therefore trumpeted Lara’s ‘new album’, e.g., www.chartsinfrance.net/Lara-Fabian/news-96723.html [and picked up by en-mode-musique-ca.skyrock.com/3249103998-Lara-Fabian-publiera-un-nouveau-best-of-le-28-avril.html]. Here’s the translation:
--------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian will publish a new ‘best of’ April 28th.
Before publishing her new French album in the fall, Lara Fabian will unveil a best-of following her European tour which will end in Prague on June 5. Some unreleased remixes will slip onto the tracklist.
Currently on the road, Lara Fabian traverses through Europe with her array of hits under the arm. The singer is on tour to defend live her most popular titles that will soon be reunited again on a best-of baptized "Essential". "Tout", "Je t’aime", "Immortelle", "Adagio" and "Tu es mon autre", many titles that have marked the career of Lara Fabian and which are joined by the songs "Voce", interpreted live for the first time at the San Remo Festival in Italy in February, and "Make Me Yours Tonight", a duet shared with the Turk Mustafa Ceceli unveiled last year.
Published by Odacity Records label, the new best-of will also include some remixes signed by Tom York, French DJ still little known but whose reputation is therefore about to skyrocket. He has conducted lounge versions of the titles of Lara Fabian. These remixes will be available for sale in France, unlike the compilation "Essential".
Moreover, Lara Fabian works in parallel on a new album written in French, and of which she has already echoed repeatedly. "I just finished writing it with a formidable team," she announced in January of this year, claiming that a release in the fall of 2015 is entirely envisionable. The artist has also stated that new songs would fit "in the tradition of the albums" she did "in the past", citing at the same time her old records "Carpe Diem" (1994), "Pure "(1996) and" Nue" (2001). This will be the first French album of Lara Fabian since "Le Secret" in 2013. Defended by the singles "Deux ils, deux elles" and "Dance", that one has sold more than 60,000 copies.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Very surprising for a ‘Charts-in-France’ article, there were numerous mistakes. Most egregious is that the Odacity album is ‘Selection’, not ‘Essential’ (with the releases so close together, and their using the same cover album, the confusion is understandable). Also, it is not to be released after this tour concludes in June, but next week, as the article is aware of in its first line title; and, despite the impression given here, the setlist for the current tour does not duplicate what is on the up-coming album.
Unfortunately, the same album title mistake is made in another report, available (in translation) from musique.orange.fr/news/lara-fabian-un-nouveau-best-of-en-vente-le-28-avril-CNT00000098Pl3.html

Lara Fabian: a new best-of on sale April 28
The return of the Belgian singer becomes clearer: while waiting for a new studio album to be released in the fall, she will release a best-of on 28 April.
2015 marks the return of Lara Fabian on the front of the stage. The singer has just finished a few months ago the recording of a new album, written in French. This record, which she promises is in the direct line of her old albums of the 90s, will be released in the fall of 2015. It will be the first French LP of Lara Fabian since Le Secret (2013), which had sold more than 60 000 copies, as indicated by Pure Charts.
Here and now, the interpreter of ‘La différence’ will release a new best-of, five years after Best of Lara Fabian (2010). Baptized ‘Essential’, this new compilation will include the best hits of the singer, such as Je suis malade, Tout, Je t'aime, Immortelle, Adagio et Tu es mon autre… Remixes made by French DJ Tom York (nothing to do with the singer of Radiohead) will also be on the menu of this new recording. Among these, one in particular will be the presence of a lounge version of the song Make Me Yours Tonight, extracted from the self-titled EP released last year
History to drive home the point, Lara Fabian is currently on tour in Northern Europe and the east and will include stops in Stockholm (20/04), Tallinn (22/04), Helsinki (24/04), Tampere ( 26/04), Bratislava (03/06) and Prague (05/06). A singing tour during which the Belgian replays her greatest hits.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Other brief news reports of a similar nature can be found at://fjliveradio.fr/news/lara-fabian-publiera-un-nouveau-best-of-le-28-avril-270, and www.m2radio.fr/fr/actualite/musique/348008-lara-fabian-publiera-un-nouveau-best-of-le- . The first report again makes the same name mistake, which would be a marketing nightmare for Odacity, except for the fact that the album itself will apparently not be released in France anyway. Presumably some clarity will be introduced when the remix(es) are made available in that country. [Moral for record companies: don’t use the same disc cover, especially for two releases so close together!]
Ignoring the confusion concerning the titles, both articles credit Lara with this release (aka, ‘Selection’) in a way that was not done for the other recent compendium from Time Warner Italy (aka, ‘Essential’). It may be justifiable if Lara really did select the songs on this up-coming album, as ‘Odacity’ has stated, although of course that could have been true for ‘Essential’ as well (and both albums’ contents were constrained by legalities). More likely, the idea that the ‘electro-dance’ version (or what the articles call the ‘lounge’ version) of ‘Make Me Yours Tonight’ will be released in France (unlike the album ‘Selection’ itself, or the album ‘Essential’) makes it of greater interest in their eyes.
Coincidentally, the standard version of "Make Me Yours Tonight", is making its own news. The duet by Lara Fabian and Mustafa Ceceli has been nominated for the "Turkey Kral Music Awards", the most important music industry awards in the country (equivalent of the Grammy Awards), in the category "Best Duet". Odacity notes, “We are proud of this project, and hope that fans will support the nominees by voting for them (by simply clicking on this official website - votes start on April 18th)”, at:
ktmo.kralmuzik.com.tr/kategori/en-iyi-duet
Voting started yesterday.
In other music news of interest, an extract of ‘Unchained Melody’ from ‘Les stars font leur cinéma’ is available on youtube, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=AseZokrD620
Lara seems to have chosen to do it as ‘sensitive’, rather than as ‘strong’. We haven’t heard the whole song, in particular the climax, so it is premature to draw any firm conclusions. It is certainly an interesting take, and very pretty, but so far it is not a choice that maximizes the power of her voice. We’ll see what the full impact is when the whole song is available. It is interesting to note, that Warner Music France, the publishers of this album, did not choose to make Lara’s contribution available as an extract on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/fr/album/les-stars-font-leur-cinema/id980260375).
Lara is continuing to add to the songs available on her official youtube channel, with TLFM and Lara Fabian (French – the first album) now there.
Rob Mancuso put a video on youtube of Lara singing ‘Mademoiselle Hyde’ from the ‘best of’ tour. He said it is one song he really loved to mix every night, so he decided to take some fan video, and some of his own, and put them to high quality audio. It can be found at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0imOhDoxDJ8&feature=youtu.be
This is not to be missed!
