Lara was back home in Brussels this past week after her recent ‘journey to the east’, and her time in public was spent participating in charity events. On the 27th, Lara was present in the small town of Montigny-le-Tilleul for the launching of the project ‘Cocon’ (Cocoon) by the ‘Papillon Foundation’. As indicated on their websites (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fondation-Papillon/231063776910331; fondationpapillon.be/), “the ultimate goal of the Foundation is to create a modern and friendly infrastructure for orphaned children. We would thus offer them conditions of well-being in order to support them in their development. In our region, we are sorely lacking in places to properly accommodate these children from difficult situations. To achieve this ambitious project, we organize throughout the year various events in order to raise as much money as possible."

An article appeared in the Belgian press concerning the initiative

Lara Fabian made the trip to Charleroi to be with the children during the speech by Denis Fontaine
The Papillon Foundation is making major strides in its proposed home for troubled youth. The latter were presented Thursday in the company of the singer Lara Fabian. The foundation consists of thirteen figures from the region of Charleroi. Their goal is to support children who are placed by the judge and who know a broken family.
By joining forces, these thirteen personalities have now obtained some funding that allows them to consider building a home for these young people. They have indeed raised a little over a million euros.
Denis Fontaine, spokesperson of the Foundation, explains his rationale: "We are neither political nor there to do business. We are simply there to do something positive for our region There is no philosophical belief in our foundation. We bring together people of all ages and try together to discuss future projects. This variety is very rewarding. We take care of children who are placed by the judge in dilapidated and inadequate buildings. We decided to give them a new home since it's been 40 years since we have built anything in Charleroi for these children. The Federation Wallonia-Brussels does not pay for buildings. It supports the operating costs and is responsible for the management of children. But as to the construction of infrastructures, there is no provision for them. The ISPPC, the Intermunicipal Public Health of the Country of Charleroi, has put a hectare of land at our disposition just behind the Vesalius hospital and we will build our building on this site. In terms of raising funds, we do it through the events we create: forty since the birth of the foundation two and a half years ago. And then there are also donors.”
Lara Fabian: strong support
The singer Lara Fabian, who is the patron of the foundation, supports it. She has already given a concert at the Spiroudôme in Charleroi to raise money and was present yesterday with the children to launch the start of construction of their future home house. Her words are determined. "It is very rare to meet people who do things with such a pure goal. For them, it's the kids that interest them: their living conditions to offer them a different destiny. There is no philosophy, religion and communalism behind them but really a sincere desire to help the children. And I find that admirable.Aand that's why I thought it was worth the trouble to be close and actively do things for them."
As for Alberto Mulas, he knows the area since he is responsible for the ‘City of Children’ in Charleroi. He applauded the initiative: "It's been at least 40 years for which there has no longer been a building designed specifically for children Here it will be an extraordinary building in which they will be much calmer. They will have individual rooms and spaces of activity and of relaxation. It was conceived with educational and teaching teams. It is a collegial work that has been done by people of heart: la Foundation Papillon. A building, it is where one lives. With tensions at times. A suitable tool is a place where we will avoid the tensions. We will prevent these children from experiencing the tensions they may have already experienced in their families. This is therefore a great initiative. "

Lara gave an interview associated with her appearance, translation below (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10205282750249903&set=gm.889178964459550).
------------------------------------------------------------
A Very Devoted Godmother
Her Next Belgian Project for the Foundation
Lara Fabian, sympathetic, available, a model of simplicity in her black coat, obviously not wanting to pull the covers around herself, yesterday. And if she was there, it was especially to render homage to the “thirteen fantastics” (allusion to the members of the ‘Papillon Association’). “They haven’t had”, she recalls, “any motivation other than helping the children”. The artist knew in fact for many years the director of the ‘Cite de l’Enfance’ Alberto Mullas and it is he who embarked on the project. In 2011 already, Lara had given a concert in Spiroudome for the benefit of the association.
Yesterday, in the middle of the children come to welcome her, she also recalled with emotion: “When I was small, the butterfly [papillon] was exactly my totem, sort of. My grandmother nicknamed me thus, and she said to me: a butterfly, it is perhaps ephemeral but it flies high!”
The singer lent herself with good grace to the interviews, to the improvised photo shows: “I do a lot of concerts in foreign countries at the moment but my presence here today was for myself. My participation in the project ‘Cocoon’, it is my way of thanking life for that which it has given me and that everyone hasn’t had the chance of receiving. I am very sensitive to the fact that the new structure will host children starting from the age of six. I know that the period of 9-10 years is very important for the construction and personal evolution. Young people will be well surrounded here to flourish.”
We have of course asked the young woman if she feels better since the incident – an auditory shock – that constrained her to rest at the end of 2013. She was even afraid of total deafness: “Happily it is only a bad memory. I am retaking my concerts. I prepare moreover a single for the month of May, which will be followed by an album in the autumn. But I cannot yet tell you anything more”.
In the months to come, she will perform a little everywhere, from Toronto to Stockholm…but not for us. “In all cases, there is still not a fixed date. But we are working, and when it arrives, my next concert in Belgium, I will give it for the benefit of the Papillon Foundation’. “
--------------------------------------------------
Note that the date for the new French album has now slipped from its anticipated spring-time release, although a single is still anticipated before the summer ‘exodus’ begins…And for those hoping for an imminent Francophile tour, that would likely be no earlier than the fall as well; instead, Lara said her next public concert in Belgium will be for the Papillon Foundation, no date given.
Actually, her next singing performance in Belgium took place the very next day, on the 28th. Lara attended the fifth gala dinner in Brussels for the “Little Dreams Foundation” and apparently took part in the concert. As noted on its website (http://www.ldf.cc/), “The Little Dreams Foundation was established by Orianne and Phil Collins in February 2000. Its mission is to fulfill the dreams of young talents, whether handicapped or not, within the 3 Dream Worlds which structure the Foundation; music, sport and art. Lara has performed concerts for them in the past, as well as taking on various responsibilities over the years.
Pictures of the invitation to the event can be seen at (https://www.facebook.com/littledreams/photos/pcb.365818456913253/365818233579942/), and an indication that Lara was to perform there at (http://www.ldf.cc/en/node/261) and (http://www.french-connect.com/2041-agenda-little-dream-foundation-soiree-de-gala.html). Lara was also to give an interview (soon) on Belgian radio station RTBF concerning her participation for this Foundation. There is no indication (or videos) of what she performed, assuming she did.
And the show paying homage to the fight against AIDS, ‘Sidaction’ the program “Alors on chante” aired on French TV channel TF1 last Friday. It can actually be seen, even outside of France, at:
www.tf1.fr/sidaction/news-sidaction/alors-on-chante-ce-soir-a-la-tv-les-artistes-se-mobilisent-pour-8525849.html
Lara was in Russia at the time of the recording of the program, and there is no indication she was actually on it even via tape, despite a picture of her and Michel Jonasz being used to advertise it in ‘Tele 7 Jours’, at www.facebook.com/246805652001644/photos/p.973887555960113/973887555960113
(I confess, I haven’t taken the time to watch the whole thing just to make sure… ). The show is in support of the associated album ‘Kiss and Love’, that includes Lara’s duet with Jonasz, which is currently #19 on the French charts.
[None of these charity events were listed on Lara’s FB site – the people in charge of that must be asleep, for these are all to Lara’s benefit, they’re in the Francophile countries, and publicity for these charities is all to the good. So perhaps the failure to discuss the Krutoi events in Russia was due more to incompetence than intention…].
In other news, Lara was to appear with ZAK this past Saturday on channel W9; a promo video for it can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152822575949831&set=vb.45155759830
with the accompanying caption of “Making vocalizations with Zak is not always easy... even for Lara Fabian...”, which requires ‘tearing and crumpling up one’s face’. ZAK has recently signed with the label World Records France, and Lara is preparing a song with him. In what is somewhat of a running theme here, there is no video of her full appearance. You may remember Lara’s last performance on the show with Zak, “Parking Size”, still available on youtube at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PKu0-Aotzw
Concerning past events, a better video has emerged of Lara with the 8 year old girl in Azerbaijan (‘Fidan’), available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNGboPaULdM
Certainly an occasion to remember!
In addition, there was a message for the fans from Lara’s musicians (in English with French subtitles from the ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ FB site) about her recent ‘tour to the east', available at:
www.facebook.com/video.php?v=760178910702442
It emphasizes the efforts Lara went to, despite her less than perfect health (due, as you may remember, to a cold).
Concerning future events, a separate thread on this site noted Lara’s reported show in Atlantic City next March 21st. Although still not listed on her website, or on Ticketmaster, it does appear to be real, as it is listed on the website of The Borgata Casino, a room of some 3700 people (theborgata.com), where tickets are available (from $65 to $165). To be clear, they indicate that it is her ‘Greatest Hits’ tour, in other words, perhaps similar to the recent shows in ‘the countries to the east’.
This suggests Lara will be expanding her North American tour venues. There are many open dates available in March and April; given her comment in the interview above that the new French album is now expected out in the Fall of 2015, instead of the previously mentioned date of April, there is no longer any conflict with the need for promotion in France and Belgium. No word yet on whether the English language album, being worked on in parallel, will be pushed back as well, but it looks like the tour will not be in support of it anyway. [In recent years, Lara’s tours have not been well-aligned with the release of her albums…]. Tickets for the show in Toronto on March 26th are now available, at:
www.ticketmaster.ca/lara-fabian-toronto-ontario-03-26-2015/event/10004D75C41A843C

And concerning both ‘past and future’ events, the recital “And if Life only happens once, 60 years of Igor Krutoi” – i.e., the concert in Moscow on 11/22 - was filmed, and will be broadcast on December 6 at 17:40 local time on the channel ‘Russia 1’ (https://www.facebook.com/166959643357708/photos/a.168982793155393.43222.166959643357708/760868073966859/)(thanks to the Lara Fabian – PHQ site).
The on-line link for the station is live.russia.tv/ (whether or not one can receive it is another question, but one can hope that videos will be available).
While still on Russia, there’s a very nice video that has just become available for the song ‘Love of Tired Swans’; it is at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT3g-vFZgqg
(Thanks to the ‘Lara Fabian Is Here’ FB site for the link). The English lyrics for this were provided in the 10/28 News Update. It is not (yet) in the top 20 of Russian singles. A lip-synced version of the song will probably appear in the Russian TV show this weekend.
And in somewhat the same vein, a future event celebrating past activity, The "BEST OF ..." album of LARA FABIAN, will be released by Odacity Records in January 2015 in Turkey (digital and physically). The album, which will include previously unreleased material and remixes, is a special collector edition for Turkey, and will not be available in other countries, according to the Odacity website (https://www.facebook.com/odacity).
However, the Lara Fabian Turkey FB site (https://www.facebook.com/Larafabianturkiye) stated, “As LARA FABIAN TURKEY page, we will organize a system to allow the sending of the "Best of.." album by post to those fans who wish to purchase it from outside Turkey. We will provide more information on this later on this page.” Thanks to them for doing this…The album will include remixes of ‘Make Me Yours Tonight’ (which is currently #6 on the list of top singles, www.kralmuzik.com.tr/top-listeler/pop-liste). No indication of what the ‘unreleased’ songs will be.
Lara has most of this week to be at home, before leaving for Moldavia for her next concert in one week. [At this point, she must be wondering who set up this crazy schedule…]
