Lara continued her eastern sojourn this past week with two more appearances. The more interesting was her concert in Azerbaijan. From the little information we have available, it looked like one of the ‘Best of’ concerts she has been giving recently, with some changes, the most notable being her singing a traditional folk song from the area, entitled ‘Sari Gelin’. The best quality video of it can be seen at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3vtAx3_B2A
while the most complete (by about 20 seconds) is at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_Qq8KUpsFk
The ‘Lara Fabain est ton autre’ site has the following (translated and amended) discussion:
------------------------------------------
Lara sang the Armenian song "Sari Gelin", in the Azeri language. Sari Gelin is the name for a number of folk songs popular among the people of the Southern Caucasus and Eastern Anatolia (i.e., the western peninsula of Asia bounded on the north by the Black Sea, to the west by the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea, and to the south by the Eastern Mediterranean). All versions of the song use the same melody and are written in the Bayati genre (a musical mode common in Arabic and Turkish, similar to a natural minor mode with some differences). Different versions have different lyrics. It tells of a love story that ends tragically between a Christian girl and a Muslim boy.
"Sari Gelin" is a blond tall girl from the mountains. Depending on the lyric language "Sari" means "Blond [fair skinned], yellow [garment] or mountain" and "Gelin" means "bride, maiden or girl".
----------------------------------------------
The song is alluring, and Lara’s presentation of it beautiful… This is a real treasure. For a complete rendition of one version by another singer, with words in English, see www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QZ2IWlB9NQ
A news report of Lara’s concert emphasizing her singing this song can be seen (if not understood) at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6FS9yu9_k0
In addition, there is also a very cute (partial) video of Lara singing ‘Je suis malade’ with a local child, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEMWoZ8nOxg
or from further away, at: vk.com/video-121236_170617537
That’s probably the only time Lara has ever done that with this song…and the child was on key! [This is the first of two cute videos in this Update – see below, as well].
Several other vides available from that concert are Lara’s singing of ‘I Guess I Loved You’, at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLck1ScrW9w
and the Russian song ‘Love Like a Dream’, at:
vk.com/lf_cp?z=video-121236_170619372%2Fvideos-121236
Both of these show Lara in great voice. There is at least one comment from a fan (L. Aliyeva-Klychkova ) who attended the show, on Twitter, which reads, “Thank you for the storm of emotions you gave to Baku audience! Love from Azerbaijan! “
Some photos of Lara looking quite attractive from that concert are available from the Lara Fabian – PHQ site, at:

Then there was Lara’s appearance at a third tribute to Igor Krutoi, on the 22nd at the Olympic Stadium in Moscow. In contrast to the previous shows, on the 15th and 16th where Lara had extensive sets, here she performed just three songs. Videos, of varying length, are available for them.

Not surprisingly, the picture with the horns (https://www.facebook.com/166959643357708/photos/pcb.759023970817936/759023944151272/) during ‘Toccami’ has gotten the most comment! There’s been some speculation that that song has gotten a refurbishing, and maybe something more is going to be made of it…
This was a more typical ‘Krutoi’ show, as all Lara’s songs were lip-synched. [It was the two previous shows, with her singing live, that were the anomalies]. One reason for the difference is that according to ‘Blonde Power’ on the MZ FB site, this concert was filmed and is going to be broadcast on Russian TV on December 6th. It would thus also serve as promotion for the single 'Love of Tired Swans'.
Lara’s abbreviated set at this last show may or may not be indicative of what she has been scheduled to perform in Brooklyn, New York at the end of January. She is however listed in a somewhat special category for that show in the Barclays Center program, which reads, “A Night With Composer Igor Krutoi, the most ambitious and grandiose concert event of the year in the cultural life of Russian Americans, will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Joining Igor Krutoi in his program will be a symphony orchestra along with a constellation of Russia's most famous singers, including Filipp Kirkorov, Kristina Orbakaite, Irina Allegrova, Valeriy Leontiev, Alsou, Nikolai Baskov, Valeriya and Laima Vaikule. Special Guest will be Lara Fabian”.
At this point it almost goes without saying that neither the concert in Azerbaijan nor any of the Krutoi concerts were covered on Lara’s FB page. There has been (probably correct) speculation that Lara’s new management team is responsible for her greater international exposure; if so, they probably have yet to look closely at her FB page.
In other news, a photo that has been going around on various sites is Lara with Brad Pitt, perhaps (as Julie Clift McGraw on the ‘Lara Fabian Voice of Passion’ site speculated) taken during Lara’s trip to New York last December. It can be seen at:
www.facebook.com/larafabianromania/photos/a.644511045571896.1073741844.127093573980315/829220923767573
In upcoming events, ‘Sonia Nogués’ on the MZ FB site noted that the TF1 web site indicates Lara will be present in a special 'Sedation' broadcast on their channel November 28, singing with Michel Jonasz their duet of ‘Parler d’amour’. However, Lara wasn’t there for the recording of the program on the 15th and 16th, so we’ll have to wait to discover the truth of the matter. It is possible they recorded it separately (Michel Jonasz was not at the program’s recording, either). Meanwhile, the ‘Sidaction’ album ‘Kiss and Love’, of which this duet is part, is number 8 on the French charts, while the compilation ‘Les enfants du Top 50’ including two of Lara’s cuts, is number 5.

And for the other promised cute video: Lara’s daughter Lou’s 7th birthday took place on November 20th, and in its honor, a very charming musical selection to the song ‘Lou’ was prepared by Lara Fabian Bulgaria. It is available at:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpL64NK3Z3c
Not to be missed!
Lara’s next scheduled appearance is in two weeks in Moldavia. If Lou wasn’t with her, Lara will have time to return home to celebrate Lou’s [belated] birthday. We’ll see if Lara is included on the ‘Sidaction’ show on TF1 broadcast later this week. No new concerts have been added to the spring tour lineup, although her official site says they will be shortly, so we’ll pay attention to that as well.
