Lara’s ‘Journey to the East’ continued this past week, with a concert in Lithuania, two in Prague, and one (last night) in Bucharest, Romania – more on that later. The videos we have available so far are mostly from Prague, and predominantly from the first night (the 16th). Choosing the best versions, many of which come from (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheMildinka/videos):

As is obvious, Lara has just about given up on speaking French to these audiences – in her first appearances in these ‘countries to the east’ she split her dialogue between French and English. The comments themselves are noteworthy: she mentioned that being back in a country for the second time was perhaps even more emotional than the first time (this being her second time in the Czech republic) – that, in effect, when an audience comes back to hear you, it requires that you make it even more worthwhile. She drew a connection between feeling, which is the goal, and movement, i.e., the change implied by paradox [and while she meant more than this, Lara has said in the past that she’s always literally wanting to move – from country to country, or house to house].
After her more esoteric comments in Berlin, Lara was back to the ‘common angel’ – the person who helps you through life via a word or deed, and in this case had it lead into the on-stage angels, the band intro. She discussed inspiration, in the case of song writing, as the fruit of solitude and sadness, but with the necessity of having hope that one can bounce back. [Joni Mitchell used to say, after she broke up with another one of her boyfriends, that at least she would get a song out of it]. And Lara returned to the point she made many years ago, that love, compassion, enthusiasm, and tolerance don’t care about any kind of difference (of sexual preference) – but what difference really exists anyway? – in introducing ‘La Difference’.
After these two concerts,, Lara left the following message on her FB site (in English and French): “Thank you Prague!!!!i adore you ,you have one of the most beautiful city in the world ,these 2 nights were magic”, along with the following picture:

A news report with interview of Lara can be seen , following the commercials, at: play.iprima.cz/vip-zpravy/vip-lara-fabian [it is in Czech]. Mirka Malčeková on the LFETA FB site reported that, “among other things, they say that Lara was amazing ... she said that if her fans can come in time on the concert, for her it is also a matter of course to start the concert on time ... and that Prague is one of the most beautiful cities ... and the reporter said, that she bought something for eating for Lara, because Lara is well known that she doesn't eat anything before the concert but someone stole this food for Lara, which the reporter bouth, it was little funny and as you see, Lara laughed too”.
As to the concert in Bucharest – the audience went out of their way to make things as pretty as possible for Lara, with various lights to greet her, and Lara was amazed at that - but in a sense, that almost made it worse. For as she herself explained, she had gotten sick (39C fever) and came down with laryngitis. However, she did not want to cancel the concert, so she ‘braved it out’. One can hear the limitations, especially in the beginning when she spoke. Her condition required a little compensation; for example, she performed the ‘more intimate’ version of ‘Je t’aime’, and otherwise appeared to sing a bit carefully. Overall, however, from the videos available, it seemed Lara did fine. Her discussion of her condition (showing she still had a sense of humor) before two of the songs can be found at:

After the concert, Lara left the following message (in English) on her FB site:

Waking up in Bucharest...after this magical concert ...I was no words to express my gratitude ...your kindness your generosity your affection were overwhelming...I am a little better this morning ,but still sound like john Wayne...?thank you for supporting me the way you did, despite my sicknesses...thank you for your love thank god for you!!!! In fact, it would be hard to find any more devoted fans for Lara than those in Romania, as epitomized by all the translation work done by the Lara Fabian Romania site, and their visual welcome for her was truly spectacular. And as usual the Lara Fabian Brazil site (http://www.larafabianbrasil.com.br/) has pictures and videos for each of the concerts.
There are numerous articles and interviews with Lara on this trip. We start with her arrival in Kaunos, Lithuania (http://www.lrytas.lt/pramogos/muzika/i-lietuva-atvykusi-l-fabian-apsistojo-paciame-vilniaus-centre.htm). Here is the translation provided by ‘google’ – blame them for any inaccuracies!)

Wednesday Kaunas Zalgiris Arena in Lithuania will host the only concert of the famous Belgian singer Lara Fabian. She arrived for the first time in Vilnius late Tuesday evening to a mature audience.
Singer L.Fabian arrived in Vilnius. V.Balkūno photo.
44-year-old singer arrived in Lithuania with 16 people in her entourage - a group of musicians, managers, technical staff, and even two stylists.
At the singer's request, she was leased the S-Class Mercedes-Benz – from the French-speaking world she was taken to the Star of the Cathedral Square in the capital city located in the Hotel Kempinski, one of the beds in Vilnius she chose herself. The main singer's request to the hotel - the room temperature is 22 degrees Celsius.
The singer came to the hotel smiled, but seems reluctant to be photographed - from photographers covering with her hands and helped by the singer's assistant, and a hotel employee.
Two decades ago, the particularly famed singer best known for sensuous voice and lyrical ballads, who promises to perform before the audience and Kaunas. The concert will feature not only songs from her latest album "Le Secret" released last year, but Lara’s popular repertoire in English, Italian, French.
The "Victoires de la Musique, the World Music Awards," "Juno" and other award-winner is currently going through a difficult time in her career – it was just last year when there were doubts as to whether the singer would be allowed to continue her career. It took two courses of treatment.
"When you're a singer and you say that you are almost deafened by 70 percent here ... It's really scary.
But I just try to look for positive things. I thought so - what life is trying to tell me? What do I need to change, what did I do wrong?
My grandmother used to say that life does not ever burden us with what we can not endure. These are the laws of the world.
In what I had to face, I tried to look brave. And what happened is that I am almost fully recovered. Figuratively speaking, I'm still missing some of the broken string, hearing decreased by 15-20 percent.
But it is much better than a year ago. Most importantly, I can still sing. I discovered a singing technique that allows me to always hit the note. So this issue has taught me many things,.”
The singer admitted that she is no longer able to last in a two hour concert.
"I have more rest. I cannot sing for two hours because my ears are impaired. Mainly, how much can I spend on stage - an hour and 15 minutes. Then, I need silence. I have the special equipment, which after the concert I put in the ears, they tire "- said the popular singer.

A very informative review concerning Lara’s health – we return to this topic later, after the following article.
A review is available for the concert in Lithuania, with a translation from the Lara Fabian est ton autre site. It is presented below for completeness sake (with the English altered a bit). From www.lrytas.lt/pramogos/muzika/jausmingoji-l-fabian-kaune-mokesi-tarti-lietuviska-aciu.htm

In Lithuania, in Kaunas, the public helped Lara Fabian learn to say "thank you"
Ramunas Zilnys on 15/10/2014 at 20:48, and updated on 16/10/2014 at 10:39
Wednesday night, in Lithuania, the Belgian music star Lara Fabian has, for the first time, given a concert ... You could hear thousands of fans at the Žalgirio arena who had gathered.
The star, 44 years old, is very popular in countries where people speak French. However, the romantic songs and her soulful voice were "not spared" in Lithuania.
The concert not knowing whether it will run in Kaunas gathered four thousand spectators. The organizers of the room and the artist do not hide that it exceeded their expectations. The public, especially the elderly, and many visitors came to Kaunas from several cities.
For over two decades, Lara has been well-known '(though not in Lithuania), and they developed a program of more than an hour and a half, which contained the popular repertoire.
A half-light, four frames, some shadow games, Lara Fabian has not created the most impressive show that Lithuanians have ever seen. The musical performance was also very measured. The singer was accompanied by a four piece band.
However, people follow the concerts Lara Fabian and do not expect fireworks or confetti cannons. The main strength here is her powerful and delicate voice, which perfectly conveys the sad end of a story, and lets fall with well-being under her charm.
It was clear that from the first moments of the concert, the performance began at the beginning. The melancholy song of Lara "Je t’aime" is one of her most passionate works.
It is true that from the beginning of the concert, on the momentum of the excited audience, Lara greeted the audience in French, English and Russian, but did not know how to speak Lithuanian.
"This is the first time. The first performance is very emotional. Hopefully I can make you happy" thought Lara Fabian.
It was obvious that it will succeed. The songs "J’y crois encore," "Angel," "Calling You", "La Difference" and other compositions gave a romantic survey to the audience. Thunderous applause after each piece was presented. Moreover, the Russian audience "thanked" the artist by whistling and then asked the Lithuanian audience to say "thank you."
No word of the Lithuanian language has been forgotten - and they had the right to say it was enough. From the beginning of the concert, the fans went to the stage with bouquets of flowers.
The moments of Lara Fabian singing in French, English and Italian were met with a quiet and polite behavior, the image of the singer.
In particular, "Caruso," an emotional song was presented in Italian and tells the story of your family, of love and admitting the paradoxes which, today, are imagined by the parents listening to this song.
The "injured" Lara admitted to believing in angels while addressing the people, and who explained that they were present when we least expected it.
The undisputed professionalism of the show, of love, of the cultural scene were felt with a respect for the audience - a feeling that arose in the early minutes of the concert.
Lara Fabian's voice is adored by many of her colleagues, not only abroad but also in Lithuania. A month ago, tickets for this show were searched for desperately online by Merūnas Vitulskis, and one of the most famous Lithuanian singers Violeta Tarasovienė.
However, it is difficult today to imagine that this style could get by Belgium and understand perfectly how to arouse the public's desire.
The concert program includes fifteen songs of Lara who functions to a lesser extent [i.e., more low-keyed and less hyper], to such a point that many are calling for foreign stars to sing in Lithuania and it is an important reason.
Last year, the singer experienced a tragedy she has suffered the most in her career; during a concert, she suddenly felt she could no longer hear. The concert had to be stopped, and it was necessary to run to two treatments.
Now the trouble hearing of Lara Fabian is almost gone, but will be monitored the rest of her life and to avoid distorted sound. Therefore, the concerts are basically acoustic with an instrumental sound.
"I can not sing for two hours. The most will be 75 minutes. And immediately after the concert, receive a special material for the ears. "But the most important is that I can still sing," said the singer in the "Lithuanian Morning" before the concert.
Lara Fabian arrived in Lithuania late Monday night. The singer remained in Vilnius, the center of the capital, at the Kempinski Hotel.
However, the artist in good spirits, didn’t want be photographed, nor her entourage; the photographers were chased away by journalists as well as the Kempinski staff .
The singer was accompanied by a team of 16 people, including a hair stylist, makeup person and bodyguard. The latter became the subject of jokes – because this compatriot of Lara looks, like two drops of water [i.e., identical to], the star of fight cinema, Jean-Claude Van Damme.
On Wednesday, the singer made a trip to Vilnius and met friends in Lithuania, in the afternoon, in Kaunas. And she went on stage. Immédiatement after the show, rushed to the airport, took a private plane and flew to Prague, where there was a concert on Thursday.
"It is a strict rule. In a country where Lara sings, she should be well rested and otherwise can not assure a full concert – hence the singer’s overnight trip”,"explained the team.
---------------------------------------------------------
Two interesting articles, in which we learned more about Lara’s condition than from all the interviews in France and Belgium. As we suspected, it is no coincidence that this tour is acoustic – and reading between the lines, one gets the impression that may well be the case for the foreseeable future. As the articles note, Lara gets treatment for her ears after each concert, and has to be monitored for the rest of her life. Lara’s repeated comments that she is ‘much better’ therefore should not lead us to think she is healed, or that this condition can ever be totally ignored – she said she has lost 15-20% of her hearing! Sobering thoughts, and our heart goes out to her…Unfortunately, even without the sort of accident Lara endured, hearing loss is endemic in musicians (e.g., 42% of (even) classical musicians have greater hearing loss than that expected for their ages www.uic.edu/sph/glakes/harts1/HARTS_library/musnoise.txt). With constant care and attention, hopefully she can keep it from getting worse.
We also learn the genesis of Lara’s comment to the audience in Prague that ‘second concerts in a country are also emotional’, as she had noted here that first nights were. As it turned out, the overnight flight did not prevent her from getting ill – one might argue in fact that excess tiredness is more likely a culprit, and given that sleeping on airplanes is not easy, perhaps she would have been better off resting up first. It’s also interesting that Lara did not want to be photographed – it can’t be because she wasn’t wearing makeup, for the photos she’s been posting of herself on her site are of the ‘untouched’ variety.
And then there was an interview with Lara before her concerts in the Czech Republic (http://prazsky.denik.cz/kultura_region/zpevacka-lara-fabian-nejtezsi-pro-me-bylo-zpivat-v-rustine-20141016.html). It was translated by ‘Mirka’ and posted by the larafabianweb.com FB site, reproduced here again for completeness (again with some slight English alterations):

Forty-four year old Belgo-Canadian singer Lara Fabian has a sold-out concert in Prague's Karlin Forum and another sold out concert at the same place awaits on Friday.
-You've sung songs in many languages, which one was the hardest?
LF: Honestly, one of the toughest was probably in Russian. It's very specific and sounds differently from any language I speak. And then there was very heavy Mandarin Chinese.
-Have you ever tried to count how many languages you've sang?
LF: It would be possible to count. In addition to the languages I speak - English, French, Spanish, Italian - as was mentioned Russian and Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, German and a few more, over ten of them I will say.
-Have you ever even tried Czech?
LF: So far I have not tried it, but it could be a very pleasant experience.
You’ve been in our country before. You first performed here in March 2012, at which time we have a concert in the Art Nouveau Municipal House, some memories?
LF: I was several times in Prague and not only on the occasion of the concert. While it is perfectly true that the concert was my greatest experience. The place looked like a cathedral, it was an amazing space. We spent a dinner by the river, we went to the Charles Bridge and visited several beautiful buildings. Prague is a very inspiring city.
-During that walk across the Charles Bridge, you have found a small stone and wished once more to return it ... Do you still have hidden the stone for good luck?
LF: Yes, I have it still and you see, it fulfilled. I often am hiding talismans of the places I visit and get something for the wish.
-Now you´re coming to us with the album Le Secret, you released last year. It was issued several years after appeared on the market a selection of your greatest hits. Can "Le Secret" be regarded as the beginning of something new?
LF: Yes. It's a new story. "Le Secret" is the story of what we go through on our journey through life. It is the pursuit of happiness and joy and knowledge that these gifts do not lie around somewhere, but within us. Everyone inside themselves have a little secret to be happy when you find it that our every day can be something special. The first part of the recording is very dark, it is about those bad experiences that we experience, then the other is how to cope with them, to make us stronger and eventually found it better in us.
-It is harder for you to sing songs from the first, darker parts?
LF: I see it so that it can´t be good without evil. You always need something to pass to your experience, life is a journey. And I'm glad that I can share with my listeners both parts
-You mentioned that life is a journey. What waits for you on this journey further?
LF: The fall and winter I'm on tour, and then I face three new recordings. One is in French, one in Italian and another probably will go further east. I will continue to record songs and communicate my feelings in many languages, which by the way is tremendously rewarding, because in every language you think a little differently, so that each song, even though it describes the same emotion, is actually a little different.
--------------------------------------------------
For the first time, Lara now mentions three new discs – the one ‘further east’ probably refers to the ‘second’ Mlle. Zhivago album with Krutoi for Russia (and perhaps some of the same countries she’s touring now). Unless something has changed, her indicating that the other two were in French and Italian may be a mistake (or mistaken translation), since numerous times she has referred to them as French and English. She also didn’t mention the spring tour in the ‘Americas’, but that may have been too far downfield for this audience’s consideration.
There was an interview with Lara prior to her concert in Romania (http://www.magicfm.ro/interviuri/4046/Interviu-in-exclusivitate-cu-Lara-Fabian-Multumesc-pentru-ca-ati-fost-si-inca-sunteti-alaturi-de-mine.html). The Lara Fabian est ton autre site provided the translation into French; here’s the English translation:
-----------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian will perform for the second time in Romania, October 20, 2014 (note: it was tonight), a show presented by Magic FM. There has been two years since I met her and I not only do remember the first but also the emotions of her first concert in Bucharest of the artist. "I remember the fans I met at the hotel and the atmosphere of the concert was amazing," said Lara in the interview that our team has recently obtained. We invite you to read it in its entirety and to rediscover Lara Fabian as an artist connected to everything that is happening around her.
Magic FM: In October, you come for the second time in Romania, and the fans are very enthusiastic. Have you prepared something special for this concert?
Lara Fabian: It will be a pleasure to see my fans and Romania where we have prepared something special for the concert in October. The first time I came, I was astonished. It was ... I could not believe to receive so much love and warmth! At the hotel, we were greeted with messages. It was very emotional ... I am very happy to go back and experience something new with them.
Magic FM: Vous chantez le nouveau single "Make Me Yours Tonight"?
Lara Fabian: Probably! I think to play on the piano the acoustic version. I work at the moment and I finished on the ideas of the setlist.
Magic FM: What is the history of this song?
Lara Fabian: Behind the story of this song, there is a team of composers who have always wanted this song to be sung. So Anthony and George sent me this song, thinking "This is Lara, I'm sure it will be hers." I listened to it with my team and I decided it would be great to interpret it with Mustafa Ceceli, who is known in Turkey. It is a fantastic release! This duet with him was an advantage for the song and gave us a chance to do it in many countries.
Magic FM: What can you say about the album "The Secret"?
Lara Fabian: "The Secret" is a journey through an internal process. "The Secret" is a public confession of a secret part of myself. The echoes are redundant, but people publicly confess to things that you would never have said and it's a challenge to man himself. And the secret is to find happiness within you, not outside. That's the secret!
Magic FM: What is happiness to you?
Lara Fabian: A collection of fantastic moments you have experienced and shared, finding a vibration, to meet someone with whom to share it. That's it for me ... maybe not the secret to happiness, but happiness. We must understand that it is a doing, not something that happens to us by accident.
Magic FM: But "The Secret" is about religion, love, failure, sexual orientation, freedom, ...
Lara Fabian: If you can correct it, it's not about religion. Not for me. My intention was to talk about the confidence I have in men of the universe. And I think love, nature and the way we love each other is the secret. In fact, you're right, the album speaks first of many delicate subjects: incest, violence, depression, loss. The second part is about how to get a form of reconciliation of all the bad feelings.
Magic FM: Can you give some examples of people who have inspired you?
Lara Fabian: Barbra Streisand, Freddie Mercury, Peter Gabriel, Whitney Houston and John Williams.
Magic FM: I saw on Facebook that you accepted the challenge of "Ice Bucket Challenge". What is your opinion about this initiative?
Lara Fabian: I think it is very original and effective. What I liked most about this initiative is that it has revealed the disease and that we can bring the search to a new level, because there is currently no cure for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral amyotrophic). Sometimes it's great, you can use humor to communicate the importance of things, and the one who had the idea is an exceptional man.
Magic FM: If you could change something in the world, what would it be?
Lara Fabian: Being capable of inserting into the consciousness of everyone that whoever is next to you, even if you think that a foreigner is not part of you, to make people aware that we are together and we must cherish. I think there is generally a crude individualism that creates a distance between people and nourishes all kinds of injustice and war.
So if I could, I'd make known one thing to all people that we are, it's essential to take care of each other.
Magic FM: Do you think that social networking connects us more?
Lara Fabian: In a way yes, and in a way can be harmful because they can connect us to what is best in us and the worst. So, it depends on what you choose. It is a question of choice, I think. But social networks are still very important. Today, you can not live without.
Magic FM: You are an artist and I see Facebook, Twitter, you communicate with your fans. Ask about their profiles?
Lara Fabian: Of course! Everyone wants to know who he socializes with, but I was obsessed with it. I try to keep the distance.
Magic FM: How do you see the generation born after 2000?
Lara Fabian: That they are different from us. They have a kind of consciousness, they are much more developed than we were at their age, they are more sympathetic towards nature ... and there I give my daughter as an example. They have a lot of respect for the environment, perhaps because they often talk about this and other things, who knows, can they change the paradox. I think the fact of thinking that everything we had before has been harmful to the planet, and that our children will suffer because of us. That is why we need to be more aware of what they can do to change what others have created. I think they are smarter than we were and much faster than we are now.
Magic FM: What is the role of music in the lives of young people?
Lara Fabian: I think it's a way to have fun, to have moments of joy, to make friends, but I think it's very important to them. It is one part of a million things you can do today. Music is simply the value of all this, but it's not all that makes them happy. Therefore, the power of music has changed so much.
Magic FM: How do you see yourself in 10 years?
Lara Fabian: In music, composer and happy. Maybe I will not run from one stage to the next, as I do now, but certainly more in touch with those who are doing it and what they do.
Magic FM: You are working on a new album?
Lara Fabian: Yes, indeed, several albums! One in French, one for international and one in Spanish. I'm working on three projects simultaneously.
Magic FM: What message do you have for fans of Romania?
Lara Fabian: Thank you! Thank you for those who are still with me, because you are so active online and that you support me!
-------------------------------------------------
As usual, very intelligent responses on Lara’s part. However, now the three albums are given a different breakdown – we will have to wait and see what eventually gets released.
And finally a small article previewing the concert in Romania (http://business-review.eu/featured/lara-fabian-returns-to-romania-71785):
-------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian returns to Romania
With hits including Tu t’en vas, Si tu m’aime and Deux ils, deux elles, Lara Fabian has sold over 20 million records, making her the best-selling Belgian-born female artist of all time. This will be her second time on a Bucharest stage.
At the age of 14, the Belgian-Italian Lara Fabian was unknowingly setting the stage for an impressive international career by singing in Brussels’s clubs. A few years later, after winning many European contests and gaining some popularity, she launched her first single, followed by her first self-titled album…
Three years after the release of her first album, which went gold and platinum, she released her second album, Carpe Diem, which launched the career of this singer-songwriter in French-speaking countries, especially in Quebec. Within three weeks, the album went gold. She then took her music on tour, performing to over 150,000 admirers, while her album went three times platinum. She was especially appreciated by the Canadian public and music industry, writes Last.fm.
The event is held at Sala Palatului, on October 20, from 20.00. Tickets are sold for RON 125 to RON 400.
-----------------------------------------------------
It’s interesting to see which songs they chose to highlight as her hits…infomusic.ro promised they will have a review of the concert, and if so, it will be included in next week’s update.
In other news, Lara’s two performances will be aired tonight (moved up from the 28th) on French channel M6 for the show promoting the album "Les enfants du Top 50". Despite having been overlooked in the CD promotion previously – Lara was not mentioned in the news release, despite having two songs, and was not included in either the two single releases or the video release – she was apparently asked to provided a little promo for the TV show. She put it on her website, and it’s available at:

They also used her picture in the TV show news release, at:

The MZ FB site reported that Lara apparently has a new Russian song ready, once again singing Krutoi’s work: (https://www.facebook.com/353946178085395/photos/a.353954938084519.1073741828.353946178085395/556062944540383/?type=1&theater). Here’s the release:

PREMIERE 15-16 Nov. New song in Russian
Composer Igor Krutoi and poet Mikhail Gutseriev prepare the world premiere!
The authors have written a song for the world-famous singer Lara Fabian. She with a unique "angelic" voice will join their repertoire of a new Russian-language song titled "Love tired of swans." First Lara Fabian will perform the new song on the creative evenings for Igor Krutoi 15-16 November at "the State Kremlin Palace" and 22 November in SC "Olympic". Ten years ago, Lara Fabian addressed the Russian public at the stage of "the Moscow International House of Music."
Lara Fabian song "Love tired of swans" - the third joint work of Mikhail Gutseriev and Igor Hardball: before they wrote the hit "Cherry Love" (Nikolai Baskov) and the song "You Are My Happiness" (Alsou).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly this will be on the ‘third’ coming album Lara is now mentioning, briefly.
Next on Lara’s tour is Sofia, Bulgaria on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by the last two concerts in Finland over the weekend. We now have a better appreciation of what Lara has to go through to keep these concerts coming – if possible, it helps us appreciate her even more.

In fact, it would be hard to find any more devoted fans for Lara than those in Romania, as epitomized by all the translation work done by the Lara Fabian Romania site, and their visual welcome for her was truly spectacular.

As usual, very intelligent responses on Lara’s part. However, now the three albums are given a different breakdown – we will have to wait and see what eventually gets released.
And finally a small article previewing the concert in Romania (http://business-review.eu/featured/lara-fabian-returns-to-romania-71785):
