Lara returns to the stage….
Various Lara fan sites reported that Lara discreetly returned to the concert stage Sunday at a private concert in Moscow. She apparently sang, among other songs, a duet with Alla Pugacheva of "Lubov Pahosa ya na son". A photo of Lara from that concert can be seen at:

A short clip of Lara also singing ‘Caurso’ there can be seen at:
This followed by a day a report from Giora Linenberg indicating that Lara is already in rehearsals for her upcoming fall concerts – in other words, four months in advance. A picture of her with him in Moscow can be seen at:

One imagines that the long lead time is occasioned because, in addition to ‘warming up her voice’ after all this time off, she is also testing to make sure her ears do not object.
All this is the best ‘real’ news we’ve heard concerning Lara this calendar year. Unless there is an unexpected setback, it would seem that she is firmly on track to resume her career as anticipated later this summer, and especially this fall.
If so, it will be a relief to have the focus be on Lara’s musical choices, while being able to take her health for granted. We’re not quite yet at that point - primarily because Lara still has not said anything official in that regard on her FB or Twitter sites, which haven’t had new entries in over a month. Until we hear it from her, we can’t be sure that she feels that way. All the information about the recent concert comes from fans (Maria Sokol; instagram.com/stasyamb), and about the rehearsals from Giora Linenberg, though it’s hard to imagine he would have posted it without Lara’s approval.
In somewhat the same vein, rhe ‘Lara Fabian est ton autre’ site notes that Lara’s upcoming performance at the ‘New Wave’ festival in Latvia later this month is getting publicized in posters around town there. One such is shown at:

Given this weekend’s events, it no longer seems so fraught with uncertainty.
In other news…all of which pales in comparison…
All this is occurring far from Belgium/France. However, Yann Perrot, on the MZ FB site, noted that Lara’s official Twitter site is now ‘following’ the site of the French version of ‘The Voice’. Whether this has any significance or not is unclear (and I don’t actually see that they’ve done that, but perhaps I don’t know where to look…). Of course, we’re still waiting to hear whether Lara will be replacing Jenifer as one of the judges on next year’s show, a turn of events that has the potential to strongly reinvigorate her Francophile career.

While the name implies a targeted ‘raison d'être’, it contains occasional new information about Lara (including Giora Linenberg’s recent photo).
Now for the next three ‘best of’ videos:

‘Parce que tu pars’ is the emotional heart of the album ‘Nue’, one of Lara’s most intense songs ever. Describing the pain she was going through, the depths of her despair, Lara eventually indicated that she wrote it while thinking of suicide. She has not sung it often, perhaps because of the emotions involved, and perhaps also because it is not an easy song to sing. The first choice above is one of the few times she actually sang it live, in this case in Moscow. She also sang it in Paris, when it was one of the requested songs (and she commented there about how difficult it was to sing). The second choice above is from the live ‘Nue’ DVD – obviously the best video, but if you remember the discussion at the time, it was one song on that DVD that was actually lip-synced (it matches the recording perfectly). She also did a very nice live segment of it on the ‘En toute intimite’ DVD, joined with ‘Si tu m’aimes’ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTEfq41OvCI). And there was an entertaining duet in Israel with Harel Skaat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EY-zGyYmYtA).
‘Part of Me’: if one wanted as big a contrast as possible with the previous song, one couldn’t find a better candidate than this title from Lara’s first English album, all about the unifying glories of love, as opposed to the despair of separation. Also rarely sung, for perhaps the opposite reason, the two versions here were from a similar time period, the first from the European version of ‘From Lara with Love’, and the second from the ‘Baden Baden’ concert.
Lara has said numerous times that ‘Pas sans toi’ is the favorite of her songs, a ‘simple’ song as she has said, but stripped of all artifice. It is also the one on which when she feels vulnerable or grateful, she is most likely to cry. The first versions shown above are indicative of that, from the live Nue DVD, and from her concert for the fans in Paris in January 2012. However, when she first started out, she sang it aggressively, as indicated in the third version. When she is not stressed, it is done more thoughtfully, and that’s represented by the fourth version, from her ‘Concert for Lebanon’. There are a number of other very worthy videos; see for example, her performance of it in Charleroi, with that wonderful outfit: (https://app.box.com/s/c9k9x66lq6v7bkvh5jsu).
A big step forward this week for Lara, and one long awaited by her fans. Only the beginning, but one that hopefully can be built upon.
