Further comments about Lara’s health became available this past week. Lara was photographed with some people (Ophelie and her cousin) in Waterloo, Belgium at a place named chez EXKI, and they provided pictures of the event, as shown first on ‘la page des fabianesk’:

[EXKI, according to one of their websites, is a high-quality fast food restaurant offering natural, fresh products at all times of the day, in a pleasant, relaxing environment. On the ‘Chez EXKI’ site (http://www.exki.be/fr-fr/home), they say (in translation),“EXKI, Natural, Fresh & Ready. Hello there. Welcome to EXKi, a place for lovers of natural products, fresh and ready to enjoy delicious recipes. Take the time to discover us. You will find a lot of information about us: our philosophy, our offerings. A beautiful moment of sharing that you can participate in on our page. Enjoy your visit!”]
The (translated) comment accompanying the photos read: “Radiant, she is fine and is recovering slowly but surely from her health problems.” Basically this is almost word for word what we have read for the past two months. It is likely an accurate description, as all reports have said that unless one recovers very quickly, subsequent recovery from acoustic shock disorder tends to be slow. It is also somewhat contradictory – obviously she can’t be ‘fine’ if she is still slowly recovering, but it would seem as if the trend is consistently in the right direction. This state of health would also explain why Lara generally continues to avoid public appearances (she will not be at the 'Global Gift Foundation' in Marbella in July), and even avoids public statements to her fans about her health. Instead we get these indirect comments from fans or people she has met, perhaps meant to reassure her fans in general. A guess would be that when Lara is really well, she’ll make that statement herself.
Nevertheless, she continues to add concerts in ‘the countries to the east’, the latest being in Baku, Azerbaijan on November 23. It has yet to be added to her official site listing, and comes almost a month after the last date in Finland. It is officially listed as a ‘Best of’ concert.

But Lara’s ambitions would seem at first glace to extend further. A poster at:

advertises a ‘Le Secret’ concert in Chisinau, Moldavia for December 9th. However, it is inconceivable that Lara would switch concert formats in a two week time frame – that is probably a ‘left-over’ poster, their not having (or knowing about) ‘best of’ promotional material. Maybe it is simply ‘left-over’ from her original intentions when booking the concert.
Regardless, as Lara continues to expand her concert schedule outside of France and Belgium, some fans have wondered where, geographically, her future focus is really going to be. It’s probably too soon to tell. There are a number of reasons why these are not taking place at her ‘home base’. For one, if indeed she is being cautious with her hearing, and limited in the near future to be doing only ‘un-plugged’ ‘Best of’ concerts, she might rightly feel that would not be acceptable in France/Belgium – whereas in these other countries it would still count as a novelty. Also this time period had originally been set aside for focus on the ‘countries to the east’, since she expected to have finished a full year tour in France/Belgium. Finally, she may not have been overwhelmed by her reception in France during the ‘Le Secret’ tour, although one should probably not make too much of that. If Lara is chosen as a judge for next season’s ‘The Voice’ in France, it would obviously change the whole equation concerning her visibility and credibility there.
Several websites have noted that several days ago marked the one year anniversary for Lara and Gabriel. Best of luck to them, now and in the future…

Several of the sites have made their own visual material for Lara, e.g.,

and a very cute anniversary video, produced by ‘sourceofmylife’ and linked to by the ‘Lara Fabian Is Here’ website, is at:

Now for the three ‘best of’ videos for the week:
No Big Deal: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLYpQO4KKyc
Nuit Magique: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SbBPUx_D9w
Otra Amor Vendra: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpFWkjjuLjo
‘No Big Deal’ was one of those wonderful songs from ‘A Wonderful Life’ that didn’t get much attention from Lara after its release (in many respects, a number of the songs from ‘A Wonderful Life’ fell into the same black hole that those from ‘Mme. Zhivago’ did). Universal (Polydor) Records appreciated it, however, and made sure it was on Lara’s ‘Best Of’ album release, even though it was initially a Sony product. Sony also thought highly of it, and made an official video for it. Nevertheless, there were very few live performances – the one chosen above is from Moscow.
‘Nuit Magique’ is a tribute to Catherine Lara, and as usual for the TLFM songs with holograms, the best video is from the TLFM Font Leur Show DVD. There is also a very well sung version at a radio station, available here: (https://app.box.com/s/0fuj5y51ica9mzxvm6p1).
‘Otra Amor Vendra’ is the Spanish language version of ‘I Will Love Again’. Lara sung it on her ‘From Lara with Love’ TV special (the version shown in Europe), and presented it on her tour to Brazil. The video chosen above, from that TV program, is the ballad version. The song in its initial (non-ballad) incarnation was generally lip-synced in Brazil. Two such videos are noted here:(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeVTaiEcf2o); (https://app.box.com/s/61ehlhb3pksv62ut2zw3).
The second video has its sound somewhat constrained, but one cannot overlook a video with that gold top! . Lara also made an official dance video for it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M4WWPXglDg), though it’s not clear how much it was exploited commercially (this video does have 212,000 viewers).
[This is one of the few times the three videos are all in different languages].
We’re now in July; by the latter part of this month Lara needs to be in a position to stand up in front of an audience and (at least) lip-sync to music with some volume. Hopefully she will be in a position to do so, and can enjoy it…it will be good to see her back on stage.
