Following the indication two weeks ago from Germany that Lara’s upcoming fall concerts would be acoustic, further confirmation and information were obtained this past week. First, ‘BTL’ , the Czech agency self-described as, “a production agency specializing in the organization of large and small dance parties, concerts and corporate events on a turnkey basis” confirmed the tour, and posted a picture of the poster (you've already seen) that has now become its symbol, at:
www.facebook.com/btlagency/photos/a.717853534920949.1073741832.716977345008568/779550465417922/?type=1&theater
They indicated more information would be available this coming week (https://www.facebook.com/btlagency).
In addition, the Romanian promoters [http://www.infomusic.ro/2014/05/s-au-pus-vanzare-biletele-pentru-concertul-lara-fabian/] wrote (in translation) the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lara Fabian has many fans in our country, who received her with much delight on 17 and 18 March , 2012… With the first concert sold out, organizers have now scheduled another recital.
Lara Fabian prepares a concert of her most famous songs like "Je t'aime", "Tu t'en vas" "Si tu m'aime" "Deux ils , deux ells" and the hits from her latest album "Le Secret".
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several of the fan websites have now chipped in with ‘inside information’. Olivier Lallier, the administrator of the ‘Lara Fabian and Emmanuel Moire’ FB site
(https://www.facebook.com/LaraFabianetEmmanuelMoireLEduo?fref=ts) also confirmed the tour, saying in effect that all will go well and all the dates adhered to. The MZ FB site repeated the information that it would be an acoustic tour, and stated that Giora Linenberg and his band would be the musicians, rather than those from the ‘Le Secret’ tour. They thus suggested that it would be like the shows in Russia and Ukraine known as 'Best Of', and not a continuation of the ‘Le Secret’ promotion. In addition, several sites have suggested there will also be venues in France and Belgium, perhaps later in the fall/early winter.
All of this seems of a piece – an acoustic show with many of her past hits (info that actually has been known for weeks), but also some songs from ‘Le Secret’ (the poster still carries a picture of the ‘Le Secret’ album). While the more cynical fans suggested this was a concession on her part that the ‘Le Secret’ tour was a failure, more likely it is a recognition that an acoustic tour would be safer for her ears. And it could be interesting – if she really does her past hits in an acoustic mode, we might get some new interpretations…true even for the ‘Le Secret’ songs.
All this of course assumes she is in condition to perform at all. One would have more confidence of that if Lara told her fans that she was now o.k., or if she were currently more in the public eye, or even if she posted the tour events on her FB page, instead of just her URL. Oddly, the only event that now appears on her FB tour list is at the Barclay Center next January, part of the Igor Krutoi tribute. Why that one and none sooner? One could speculate that she is more confident of an appearance further away in time, and one that would probably involve no more than 20 minutes on her part…Ultimately, if things pan out, she will have to be more direct and forthcoming about it.
The ‘imaginary’ couples photos of Lara and Eva Longoria taken by Olivier Ciappa are starting to appear in public in Paris, for example at the Place de la République:

It took two days of intense installation of the cubes, but they are now ready to be photographed in place. Lara and Eva are among the first to be shown for the exposition, indicating the high regard he holds for them. The timing right after Eva Longoria’s ‘Global Gala’ charity festival may or may not be a coincidence, but it makes Lara’s absence at that event even more inexplicable (unless it is health-related).
The website discussed this week is the Lara Fabian et Emmanuel Moire site, whose link is given above. As the name suggests, it is divided into news of the two performers, and having established that degree of plurality, it sometimes ventures on to other French performers as well. Beautiful pictures and occasionally new information can be found here.
With what looks like a new tour that contains at least some aspects of the ‘Best of’ show on the horizon, what better lead-in for the next three choices of ‘best of’ videos:
La Difference: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cvc35XFvHQ
La Lettre: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8x7zJ6Posw
La vie est la: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TqAH9hPGDs
: app.box.com/s/c2sh5rvq2a2bp8vdp72k
“La Difference’ is perhaps the only song to rival ‘Je t’aime’ as the one for the French public to remember Lara. There are some 75 versions of it, and the one chosen is Lara’s walking through the audience on the live DVD of the ‘Nue’ concert. Appropriate, since it’s a song of the people, and it of course has gotten renewed interest due to last year’s gay rights legislation in France. Other notable versions include her performance at ‘Les Victoires’ (and the fact that she chose it as one of her songs on that occasion indicates how important she felt it was) (https://app.box.com/s/40algh7fw1zutfva5h1v); another older TV appearance (TV5) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM5Hj7UQ1aU); and for a more modern take, the version from the TLFM DVD (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awkUFrPpWnw). It is also appropriate for duets, including the great version with Patrick Fiori (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv71M7dJV3g) and a touching one with Anne-Laure (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgvAhx2YXs4).
As you may be aware, this song had a built-in controversy independent of its involvement in the LGBT cause. The melody by Rick Allison was practically identical to that of another artist, who it appears Rick Allison had heard perform. Rick and Lara lost a plagiarism trial, and the song was banished from both the ‘Pure’ album and the ‘Lara Fabian Live’ DVD for a while (new versions had to be generated of both) before they all finally came to an agreement, allowing it back in. At one point Lara suggested that this was one of the causes of her break with Rick Allison.
‘La Lettre’ was actually a song written by Jean-Felix Lalanne for another performer, but Lara worked with him on changing a few elements of it, and included it on her “Neuf’ album. The version chosen is from the ‘Symphonic Show’, due to its wonderful orchestration. Other notable performances include the one on the ‘Un regard neuf’ DVD, which has the added benefit of Lara on the piano; the version sung on the ‘Star Academy’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clKKgtPkTAo); a nice acoustic performance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqXykClYbcY); and the wonderfully sensitive version she did on the DVD, ‘Chante avec Lara’ (https://app.box.com/s/ptta7pk76rwzphhkt8g4).
‘La vie est la’, one of the most noteworthy and intense songs from ‘Le Secret’, was always a sure-fire winner on the ‘Le Secret’ tour. The first version chosen here is from the Paris show of 11-17, although the videos from the day before, available on youtube, are equally as impressive. The other choice, as usual, is the multi-angle version from the Showcase presentation in the same city, seven months earlier.
As more and more of Lara’s fan sites accept the coming fall tour as a given, one would assume that pressure would grow on Lara to say something about it – or even to say something at all on her FB site, that by next week will have been dormant for a month. Once June starts, the normal order of things is for performers to decrease their communications, which means we may not hear anything from her for quite some time. Nevertheless, her number one priority has to be getting her hearing in order, so that the fall tour can actually happen. Hopefully, as second hand reports have indicated, that is ‘on track’.
